Maison Puget French Bakeries in Kensington and Chelsea

I was walking along Portobello Road Market and saw this lovely French Patisserie. The shop window was very inviting and full of delicious looking cakes. The French lady that served me was very nice and this is why I am giving them 2 stars. I bought a large Pain au Chocolat to take away with me, but it was awfully dry, like cardboard. I was surprised that a French Bakery in an upmarket area like Portobello would sell stale bakes. One of the worst Pains au Chocolat I have ever tasted and one of the most expensive ones at that. I did not walk back, but I threw it away and went to a nearby "chain" coffee shop where I bough a fresh, warm and buttery croissant instead. Maison Puget, please check the date and freshness of your bakes. There is a lot of competition out there. Keep the quality up!

Deserves its reputation as a top bakery for French pastries. Had a great selection and has award winning baguettes. We had 3 pastries and all were delicious. Definitely not cheap but a great treat when in this area as a snack. Has some seating. Can get very busy. Famous.

Nous avons pris un croissant aux amandes. La pâte du croissant était briochée, et non feuilletée. La frangipane était sur le dessus, alors qu'elle doit se trouver à l'intérieur. Dommage pour un boulanger pâtissier français, qu'il ne fasse pas un vrai croissant aux amandes à la française.

Truly exceptional world-class - financiers (pistachio and plain). - choux and - baguette. (sadly have to report soggy pastry on tartlets multiple times)

Without a doubt the best bakery in London.. From the pastries to the baguettes and special sandwiches, it is impossible to order something wrong here. The staff are lovely and I look forward to returning every time I am in West London.

First off, I actually love that the owners are sticking up for themselves on these reviews! Soft ass customers who always think they are right are the worst. Are they a little rude? Maybe? The guy was very nice with me. The woman was fine but hey she is French dealing with a bunch of uptight English people. I’d be short and to the point if I was her too! Enough with that…the food. I have had dozens of pain au chocolat over the last month having visited Paris for this month and being up and down the coast of Italy(not the same but you get the point). I have had pain au chocolates in high rated NYC bakeries and made my own before. This was BY FAR the best one I have ever had. It was so good we turned around, walked back down the block and had to try what bakeries/boulangeries are known for. Could this bakery in London have a better baguette then one of the 15 we had in Paris(a few we waited on line for)? HOLY $HIT. Best baguette I have ever had. Granted it was still a little warm and it was raining and cold but still it was delicious even on its own. I am not sure if the offer(because I don’t think there is a menu or maybe I just missed it) but a little buerre and jamon would have knocked it out of the park. Yea they had some pre made sandwiches but not the same as made to order. The place was so good I told my pastry chef friend who is visiting London next week he has to go and try the baguette and pain au chocolate. Only thing that’s disappointing is I will probably never visit this cold rainy city again 😂

I used to live 3 minutes from this bakery and was my go to place to buy pastries and a baguette. Very often I would get a warm bread and run back home to eat it with butter - absolutely divine! They have very good sandwiches, eclaires and cakes too. YUM!

Rude service and staff with attitude, a bit over priced for the quality. They charge you for paper bags (get it for plastic)..these are recycled paper at £2 per bag...

I regularly buy bread and pastries here. The quality is excellent - particularly the Pain de Campagne and the baguettes. This is the best French bakery I know in London (and I've looked extensively). I also love the attitude of the manager. When "customers" write rude reviews, the manager responds appropriately. Well done! I want to a bakery where food quality is paramount - not subservience to rude customers

On a beautiful sunny Sunday lunch time we walked pasted this lovely bakery. Feeling a little hungry and spotted a wonderful selection of cakes in the window we asked a lovely gentleman by the door (wearing a green stripey shirt) ,did he have a table for 2 .... He did .....yipee....... What a find absolutely lovely service by the man in the beautiful flowery shirt. Delightful lunch, lovely fresh baguettes as for the cakes .......delicious and spoilt for choice. Thankyou so much for a delightful lunch and service was spot on. Apologies but didn't catch any staff members name but you delivered lovely service. Thankyou so much.

Stopped in for afternoon tea after walking around the Portobello road area. We had pastries and tea. The staff was friendly and the place was constantly busy.

To make it short, the french lady with the short black hair working there was absolutely rude, almost aggressive when i have tried to make some room on the table and telling me “ this is a bakery, not a restaurant “ when i asked if they had a menu. After paying the bill and telling that i was unhappy and that i will take it further, she clearly told me that i could write a bad review she didn’t care. I would love to have a chat with the owner ! STAFF IS A DISGRACE !!!!!!!

Used to be excellent before the flood . This mornings croissant was stale so I took it back to let them know and I suggested that mabye I was given one from an old batch. Sadly they didnt seem to care. Their response was "go to Gails". Undelievable and rude !! They clearly dont care about the food or the customers.

Passed the Maison Puget while out for a post Lockdown walk. The cakes looked fabulous and I bought a few to take home with me . They may be pricey but omg they are worth every penny the Paris breast was amazing. I will be back

The food is amazing, I can't deny it but yet quite expensive ( we're in London anyway ). However, the staff are sooo rude ! Everytime I go to get my pastries I never feel welcome. One of the ladies is despicable, so is the woman owning the place. I do think they should all train to how to learn English manners and be way more friendly to their customers ( i.e speaking politely and raise a smile ). This time was my last, as I found the same quality products and excellent customer service elsewhere nearby.

I come to this place very regularly, amazing food(although it should be for the prices they charge), especially the Bagette(traditional) I can see why it is award winning and have no doubt it deserves their claim that it is the best in London. There is a big problem with the staff, slow and rude doesn’t cover it. For a start they look at you as if you are a tramp who has just walked into the Channel shop in Paris.I don’t know who they think they are with such snobbery. This isnt the Channel shop this is a bakery. often see one or two of them standing around inside doing nothing while there is a queue of up to ten people waiting to be served. If you dare to look out out they go even slower and and say weird rude things. I heard A guy leaving there once sounding like he was ready to assault one of them. And so slow. So so slow. Now from the replies on here to anyone else who has dared to mention how rude and slow they are, I can imagine that this will be brushed off as being the customers fault(me in this instance) but What I will reply in advance is this, their attitude is creating a bad feeling towards the place amongst locals in the area and eventually his will have an effect on business( i know it’s very busy at the moment)and their slowness and lack of gusto is already costing the place money because if they were faster and less lazy they would serve more customers and hence take more money. It’s such a shame as the food is very good
