We came here to have dinner after a concert at Cadogan since this was the only place opened to 10.30 pm. Arrived @10.15, stood for a few min - waiters were just passing , no one paying attention until I turned around and smiled at a waitress who was folding napkins. I asked if we could have a table for 2. We were sat. Another waitress, came to give us the menu but before that started joking around with the diners next to our table- considering it is now 10.20pm (last order is 10.30pm). She eventually handed us the menu and told us - just to let you know the kitchen is closing in 10 min. Food arrived, husband ordered the saucicon and lentils and I the duck. Both meals were extremely salty. Enough to trigger hypertension- not a joke!!! I tried to find a part of the meat that wasn’t salty but I gave up- the sauce was even worse. My husband finished his as he was hungry considering our last meal was lunch time. The waitress arrived to collect and saw I hardly touched my meal - so i complained about the saltiness. My husband didn’t complain- he is British. They were nice enough to take my order off the bill. Came the dessert- I ordered the citron crepes and my husband the chocolate crepes. Desserts arrived - except my husband got the chocolate mousse. My husband and I looked at each other- and said oh well maybe they misheard. As we started on the dessert- the head waiter came up to say I believe you ordered the chocolate crepes we apologise - it is coming, we won’t charge you for the chocolate mousse. I wouldn’t say we will not come back. We may try again on another time of a day. I think there is something going on with staff morale in the kitchen if the food is mediocre for the prices on the menu. Deal with that please.

This was my first time in London, and Colbert came highly recommended by a friend who insisted I try their Wellington. I’m so glad I listened! From the moment I arrived, the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed and the food was great. All in all, Colbert made a memorable first impression, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

We accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant, after having forced my wife to visit the stadiums in London and I couldn't have chosen anything better to make up for it, excellent dinner we had as recommended by the waitress Olivia, very nice beef Wellington really excellent, the mussels soute was also delicious but it wasn't soute but flavored mussels in an exquisite sauce.... I’ve eaten here many times before and have happy memories of both the food and the service. But something has changed. The service was cursory and charmless. The food was unacceptable. Celeri Remoulade too thickly cut and dry moulds marinieres which consisted of a handful of overcooked moules and kedgeree whose only flavour was heaps of curry powder. We left most of it but no staff enquired why. Colbert is now firmly struck off our restaurant list.

Les Deux Magots in the middle of the 6th arrondissement is super busy, at times with queues a mile long but they still manage to provide polite/courteous/friendly service. Colbert is full of arrogant and rude female greeters and staff. Luckily we got an extremely lovely waitress from Kenya who stepped in when she saw we were being ignored by the others. When it came time to pay our bill though, we were thanking her for everything but one of the supervisors harangued and abused her because she took an extra few seconds too long while we thanked her. Absolutely unbelievably disgraceful behaviour with so many of these female staff. An older gentleman, slim build with glasses and greying hair was very good though. But still really offended by the treatment we received. Luckily the food was ok - for the others at my table, as the skin on my mackerel was burnt. Not sure why I bothered bringing my Aussie friends here after our fab Paris experience. Such an awful place. They even threatened to throw us out after 2 hours. Seriously, why would anyone come to this place? Yet it’s chockers (?!). The mind boggles…! EDIT: Colbert (whoever?): I received your response here on Google and have emailed you. There has been no response to my email to the general reservations address you provided. Please don’t waste my time by asking me to write to you if your intention was simply to look like you’re concerned about my review.

We had a special lunch at Colbert this week for our daughter's 18th. The food and service was wonderful, and atmosphere friendly and unpretentious. They handled my request for a special treat for our daughter during dessert, with real class. A simple plate decorated with chocolate writing and the most devine macarons was exactly the right gesture. Thank you for making this occasion a special one. We hope to return sometime soon!

We had a truly wonderful lunch at Colbert on Sloane Square, London. Without a reservation, we simply walked in—lucky, I suppose, as we were promptly seated and warmly welcomed. The charm of the place hits you instantly: inspired by the grand cafés of Paris, Colbert offers an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. Originally opened in 2012 by the team behind The Wolseley and The Delaunay, Colbert has quickly become a beloved Chelsea institution. It stands on a site with its own bit of history—once a bank, then a bookshop—now a beautifully styled brasserie with art deco touches and a touch of old-world glamour. As for the food, it was exceptional. Every dish was full of flavour, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. From the crisp frites to the richly flavoured mains and the indulgent desserts, each bite felt like a little celebration. The service was also spot-on—friendly, efficient, and attentive without ever feeling rushed. Whether you’re after a quick bite, a long leisurely lunch, or just a glass of wine and some people-watching, Colbert ticks all the boxes. We’ll definitely be returning—next time, though, we might book ahead!

Great place for the smart Chelsea set and people watching, and a wonderful restaurant, too. Hamid looked after the three of us and was charming to our 11 year old, who was kept happy with chocolate crepes and orange juice. We adults drank Ayala sparkle and a very acceptable sauvignon blanc. The chopped salad was a treat, but the endive, walnut and Roquefort stole the show. Great steak tartare, too. You get two hours at the table. There’s a cover charge of £2.50pp and a service charge of 15% is added to the bill. Roger Evans

Being a local, I have been to Cafe Colbert about 10 times over the past 6 months at different times of day, days of the week and seasons. I am never disappointed. The atmosphere changes depending on when you go in from chique most week-day/Saturday evenings to more informal at lunchtime and Sunday evening. But always ’bubbly’. It’s one of those few places where you can go for a meal on your own and not feel out of place, whether you are male or female. The service is excellent and if you are lucky, quirky. The food is generally very good to excellent and tasty. Perhaps their set menus could be a little more engaging but I am really just nitpicking. It is also a great place to people-watch, whether the amorous couple to your left, the bar-crowd ahead of you or the youngsters outside on the street who seem prepared to brave all weathers for the opportunity of being seen at Sloane Square’s best bistro. We are lucky to have it!

We are regular patrons of one of Colbert’s sister restaurants, Bellanger, so had high expectations of Colbert but left very disappointed. The service is great (although they didn’t tell us about the specials until after we’d already had our starter and I most certainly would have ordered from that menu instead) and they were very accommodating of our small dog and young baby. The food, however, was extremely disappointing, and also heavily overpriced. The steak was underwhelming and the Diane sauce (which you pay extra for) bland and watered down. The sausage and lentil dish small, not very tasty and with poor quality ingredients. The only saving grace was the Jerusalem Artichoke soup which was delicious. For 2 courses for 2 adults and a couple of drinks each the bill wasn’t far off £200 which was just madness for the poor quality food on offer. We won’t be returning.

We consider the food authentic and very nice, served proper over a tablecloth and with cloth napkins. The attention from the hostess Anna W. was nice too, but although the service of the waiter was correct, it could be considered also in the edge of rudeness. The prices perhaps could also be considered just a little more expensive than others, but what really increase the check could be the entrance fee, plus 15% for service charge, and the 20% VAT. It has service from 8:00 a.m. to around 10:00 p.m. Sometimes it is very difficult to get a table, especially at certain times on weekends, so it will be advisable to book several days in advance. The diversity of clients is enormous, you can find from proper educated and correct well dressed ones, to loud noisy and, even some viperous ones too, but that’s another story and a matter of luck, the place has no fault or anything to do with it.

I live in the area so have dined at Colbert a few times. Yesterday, I wanted to take a dear cousin out for an early lunch so booked online for 11:30 am. No where did it state on the site that the lunch service started at 12 noon. There was just a pop-up saying that they could not reserve a table for just drinks or coffee. I didn't feel that was relevant to us as we wanted lunch. We get to the restaurant and the first thing we are told is that we can only have the table for a set amount of time. Fine by us but it's always a bit embarrassing when you're hosting someone for a meal to hear this kind of narrative, rather than "welcome to Colbert. May I take your coat?" We wanted a quick lunch anyway so imagine our surprise when we sat and saw the menu at our table, that only breakfast was being served. When I asked our hostess about lunch, she said we would have to leave our table and wait at the bar until noon and then they will see if they can accommodate us. Since we were already seated, we decided to stay and have another breakfast of an omelette each. The plates came with literally - an omelette. No garnish of any kind, the omelettes sat there looking very sad indeed. Once we finished this, lunch was now being served so we asked if we could have dessert, and again were reminded by the waiter of how much time we could have at the table. We were hardly there 40 minutes at this stage so he said he would have to ask his manager, never mind that multiple tables around us were empty. Anyway, he came back with the dessert menu which we ordered from. Overall, our visit yesterday was disappointing, especially as we wanted lunch but had to make do with an omelette. The waiter was lovely and efficient. The food not bad but basic. The constant reminder about time was embarrassing. Honestly, before we even sat to eat, and then again halfway. It took our appetite away. Covers seem more important than hospitality. Sorry, but as convenient a place as this is for me, it won't be my first choice again.

It was very embarrassing and he was so rude. I told him I had been given this table by the waiter and if these customers had been waiting for 30 minutes, why was I assigned this table. He just insisted I leave!! I had liked this restaurant but will NEVER come back after his rudeness! He has no idea how to manage a situation whatsoever and should be retrained at the very least!

We like the atmosphere in Colbert and the food is OK but I think the food quality is slipping and the cost is quickly becoming not worth it. The fries last night as originally served to us and when they exchanged them were really not good enough and spoilt an expensive meal and the evening.

Colbert is one of my favorite spots for a crafted cocktail in London. Perfectly located in the heart of Sloane Square, right next to the tube station, it’s incredibly convenient to get to. The ambiance is inspired by Parisian bistros and cafés, with a stunning Art Deco-meets-retro aesthetic that exudes charm and elegance. I especially love the atmosphere at the high-top bar—it’s cozy yet sophisticated, making it ideal for a relaxed drink as a single gal. While I haven’t tried the food yet, it looked fantastic and is definitely on my list for next time. A bit pricey for cocktails (expect £18-20) but a must-visit for anyone seeking a classic, stylish experience!

It’s cramped. It’s noisy. Covers over comfort. The food can be good, but a visit today stopped that and led to this review. Service was not “of standard”. Slow, disorganised. The food was “off” - celeriac remoulade - a big pile of it, was acidic ‘Y’. The cod with white beans special was the most salty thing I have had in a restaurant and inedible. The tarte tatin was incredibly sharp, but I accept that as a personal preference. It needs to step it up.

We visited the restaurant on 16th November. From the beginning I told the waitress I was allergic to any other oils, apart from olive oil and asked her to ensure my meal is cooked with this oil. Also requested brown bread instead of white. She appeared to understand, although did not speak much English. I ordered flat iron steak with Diane sauce, and side dishes were ordered for the table to share - again I reminded her to make sure side dishes did not contain seed oils. When the main course was served it appeared that I was not given any Diane sauce and the explanation was that this contained seed oils. This should have been explained to me at the time of ordering my meal, so I could have selected a different sauce or a different dish. The side orders of Brussels sprouts and potato gratin were just placed at the table with no explanation or confirmation regarding oil content. It took them a while to bring some sauce for my steak, which did not contain seed oils. When the bill came it appeared that we were charged additionally for the brown bread (which we of course refused to pay) and this was nothing special, just 2 slices of basic brown bloomer. I have to say that this was extremely disappointing visit to Colbert. We were regular clients and have always enjoyed the food and service there, but it seems the standards are slacking, although, the prices are rapidly increasing. Being charged £6 for a bottle of filtered water seems unreasonable! In this day and age a restaurant claiming to serve high quality food that mainly cooks with toxic seed oils is just unacceptable! Not to mention that the waitress was not even aware what kind of oil was contained in the different dishes and did not bother to inform us. Furthermore, only offering mini white baguettes as a starter is just not good enough. For a restaurant of choice, healthier wholemeal bread needs to be offered, not to mention that we paid cover charge for that. Overall, the restaurant menu and service needs an improvement and better selection of quality ingredients instead of focusing on cost cutting.

Do not bother yourself standing in the queue cause it will take you forever to find a table. The service is below zero, i did not like how the waitress treated us. She said she’ll find us a table and then pretended like she didn’t see us. Left the place immediately

Good food and wine, ambience very nice in the restaurant. Service was very poor. Servers should be encouraged to not come directly to the table after having been on multiple smoking breaks. This lovely setting could be greatly improved by a better serving staff.
