Bibendum in Kensington and Chelsea

I would give more stars if I could to Bibendum. As the first stop on my partner and i’s Michelin food tour, they really set the standard that has been honestly unmatched so far. Every dish was so incredible and a complete amalgamation of technique, creativity, fresh produce and deliciousness. From the minute you walk in the door, the staff go above and beyond to take care of you and it really felt like a personally catered experience. Even the complimentary little starter as you arrive was simply divine, showing an attention to detail and a true passion and love for food and the dining experience. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone whether you’re a foodie or not. 20/10

A very disappointing experience. When making a reservation for lunch we were told only 12.30 was available. When we arrived we were told the lift to the restaurant could not be used as there is a problem with the insurance. When we did arrive, having walked up a steep staircase, there was no one in the restaurant and later only three other tables were filled during the entire time we were there. Service was condescending, unfriendly, unhelpful, and even surly, and the wait between courses was extremely long. When we asked what was in the market menu, we were told it was to be “a surprise” and we could/would not be told in advance what it would consist of so that made it difficult to order wine and difficult to know whether or not one wanted to order it. We did, and what a mistake! The food was overly precious and each course was preceded with a five paragraph description. The pepper mill did not work and was grudgingly removed. Courses and plates arrived on an oversized tray held by a non-white waiter and then removed by a white waiter to be served to us. The restaurant’s signature egg dish was undistinguished, there were no fresh vegetables, and the main course was tiny bright pink cake of veal. A fig tart for dessert was presented in a chocolate casing - the two flavors were not in any way complementary and a pastry case would have been more appropriate . All this made it a meal easy to and hard to forgive.

Everything was perfect. The food was as good as expected with every course being memorable, the service was faultless. Just an unforgettable experience.

I went to this historical restaurant and I ordered shrimp burger which was extremely delicious and mouth melting. The food and service were excellent. Even though it was really busy the lady manager made sure that I get my food on time. The service was impeccable. I wish I could remember her name but never mind may be another time. We ate in Ground Floor Oyster Bar to celebrate our daughter's engagement. Lovely restaurant space. Light and airy with plenty of space between the tables. Service was immaculate. Food was excellent. Mainly seafood but other options available. Recommend.

A place for a special occasion. The creativity of the food, the attentiveness of the staff and the overall quality of the restaurant are all exceptional. Unless you are lucky enough to experience this level of dining regularly, one visit to Bibendum will live long nin your memory.

Michelin's first overseas headquarters. Except for the barbecue steak on the last weekend, everything was normal. It didn't feel like it had two Michelin stars. The beef soaked in champagne and then pan-fried was more delicious than the cooked steak. I said the steak was 5 minutes rare. But it was so raw that it felt like drinking blood and the steak was grilled very poorly.

To start with the staff are kind, attentive and professional yet friendly. The menu is extensive. Lack of fancy titles and descriptions understates the quality of what they prepare. “ FishSoup” is as good a soup de poisson as one could behold accompanied by aoli and gorgeous grated cheese. Also as a starter was Tamara that was like pillow topped with fresh crabmeat. My “ Cornish” mussels were the best quality I had ever tasted. And my friends shrimburger with their stunning, not-to-be missed fries was excellent. A lovely wine list to boot. Don’t miss this treasure of a seafood restaurant

There is no need to say much. One word says it all, the only way to describe the food is to say Excellent.

Service was great and staff were very kind. Food was well below what you’d expect in a two Michelin star. The cheese bread was nice but a bit reminded me of being hosted by friends who warmed something in the oven. The only dish that was amazing was the lobster dish. The añaloti dish was full of dill, you couldn’t taste any foie gras. The dessert was really bad, none of us liked the sauce or really understood the point of the dessert, one person did like the ice cream next to it. The plum cake/pastry wasn’t tasty at all. The bread and butter were quite good. But overall really missed a wow factor for such an expensive meal

My husband & I celebrated our second wedding anniversary at Claude Bosi at Bibendum and it was a magical experience. We loved the attention to detail, the attentiveness of all of the staff and their good humour. My husband had his first soufflé at the restaurant and he loved it! It is a must try if you go to this restaurant.

Should be a three star! Exceptional service and exciting presentations of superb food. Need I say more?

My favorite restaurant in London, live nearby and saw this restaurant, didn’t expect anything just walk in, it was the best restaurant I’ve ever been, the fish is so fresh, very healthy at the same time tasty

The exceptional wine pairing was not really worth the price charged for the degustation menu. Overall service was fantastic and the food was excellent.

Not the Bibendum of a few years ago! Once was quite special…seems to be drafting off of the past reputation. Still “ok”….but not a destination at this time. Food was fair. Call to make sure the upstairs are open—as that can change without notice. Downstairs garage is loud and service uneven. Food is average at best.

Disappointing, especially the service. Drinks arrived late, after I had finished the main course. The manager, Jerome, said this was because we ordered drinks late, which was not true. 3 waiters asked for our drinks order and then told us there was a glitch in their system. Even so, not good enough. Won’t be returning. Fish and chips is mediocre. Chopped salad is okay. Nothing special for the price. Wouldn’t recommend , much better options in local area.

A very nice restaurant and bar with a florist. We ate at the Oyster bar, the decoration and the place were better than the food. Very normal, average quality. If you are close, it is worth it. We left the restaurant for another day.

Fantastic seafood platter! We love seafood and wanted to highlight what makes this platter special . Firstly clam taken out of shell , cooked in white garlic sauce and put back in shell , absolutely no grit . Razor clams again sautéed separately and put back in shell . Tiger prawns, crab , mussels , shrimp all cooked perfectly , sounds simple , trust me so easy to get wrong. Finally we shared an amazing crème brûlée. What makes a restaurant great is not just first class food, but first class service . Nodine , front of house , hope I have name correct was everything you could want, in this role , engaged and makes you feel special. Shabnan , maitre de , was enthusiastic and obviously loved her job . Could not have done more for us, even moved us to a better table . We have not been for years , we will be back soon !

The food was amazing. Waiters were so polite. I recommend prawn salad. The flowers made atmosphere excellent. The service was very fast.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at Bibendum. We started off with champagne in the downstairs bar and were then escorted upstairs to our table in the restaurant by a very welcoming Rudolph. We chose the 3 course a la carte menu and were also surprised with several delicious amuse bouche. The food and service was exceptional as was the vast wine list and the restaurant itself is a fantastically unique art deco venue. An invitation to visit the kitchen was a lovely touch and post dinner cocktails served by Ivan was a fantastic way to end our evening. Huge thanks to Lorenzo and his team who could not have been more professional. The whole experience was outstanding and we will definitely return.

This is one of the best restaurants in London. Great food. Caring staff. Wonderful space. Considering all the staff inside the kitchen and serving it’s actually good value.

I’ve been coming to Bibendum since the great Simon Hopkinson Hopkinson opened it. Indeed we all had lunch with Elizabeth David there who declared it the best restaurant in the country. While the food style has changed to a more complex tradition, the food was utterly delicious. We went for the three course A La Carte but there were numerous wonderful amuse bouche so it must have been 10 different taste experiences. The staff were completely charming and made us feel so welcome. The room is still one of the most beautiful in London. We will put it on our favourite restaurant rota.

Everyone should experience this restaurant. We will be back.

We had an amazing experience for my girlfriend's birthday meal. The food was exceptional and the service was first class. They gave my girlfriend a birthday card from the team and a little cake at the end with a candle. This attention to detail is 2nd to none.

The venue is so lovely, we had dinner on the patio and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I obviously recommend trying the oysters, as many as possible on the menu

Cocktails and drinks were good. As was the food. I had steak tartare (no egg?) and monkfish both were excellent. My wife has a whipped type taramasalata which is was excellent but could probably share for 2 people and a steak - excellent. We were seated inside and almost alone which felt a bit weird but was OK. Service was mixed and they clearly have a problem getting waiting on staff. The Indian lady who brought the bill was excellent as was the local lady. Some of the others needed training - all were nice though. We will certainly come back.

We return to Bibendum each year because of the brilliant food, the interesting wine parings, the fantastic setting and the impeccable service. This year was one of our best visits ever!

An accumulation of service mistakes generated a mediocre experience, and makes us seriously question the self-attributed 2 stars. For example: A few minutes after we are seated a friend of ours is competing live for an olympic medal - a must watch. The waiter then displays obvious signs of frustration not to have our full attention, and leaves annoyed, not to return for a while. "Gougères" are served with hot liquid cheese inside, very unusual. Nobody tells us. I bite in one, drop liquid cheese of my jacket. Nobody helps. A glass of Domaine de Chevalier 2010 (GBP60 per glass) is served half full as the bottle is empty, the wine is oxidized and undrinkable, the sommelier serves and leaves. I have to call him back. That was the last bottle. And more ... Mediocrity overall. The nights before, we were at "Les 110 de Taillevent" and at "Beast": no Michelin stars, superb experiences.

Food is nice, the sole had a bit of blood. The waitress service needs improvement as she has no knowledge of the food. Cutleries were not available when the food arrived.

We had the x7 course taster menu & all courses were wonderful as was the service, interior & ambiance. As fortunate foodies we have dined at some of the best 2& 3 star restaurants around the world & would include Bibendum in this list. Location wise Sth Kensington is also perfect, being less frantic than some of the other great London dining experiences. Also a must see for anyone interested in fine buildings ! Highly recommend!

My partner and I enjoyed the experience at the restaurant Claude Bosi but shortly after leaving the establishment both of us had very bad FOOD POISONING. The meal was the common dominator as we both ate in different places previous few days and must be the meal we had at the restaurant. We ordered the tasting menu and wine and expected the meal to be perfect for a Michelin star restaurant. The experience and service was good but shortly on our way back home we both started being unwell. Food alert was contracted by Claude Bosi for investigation but because we didn’t take sample, and the other “diner” was ok, our case was quickly dismissed (My partner didn’t even have the time and chance to return the investigation form, and the case was closed). Note that because it was the England football game they only had 3 or 4 tables that night. The reason provided just didnt make sense and Claude Bosi DID NOT even CARE and just push it to their own investigator.

Amazing service by Shabnam and the most delicious and exceptional fish and chips in this restaurant..woooww We have been to many cities in the world but this place has been on top . This is second time we are here.just want to say must must must visit this place . Excellent, exceptional and outstanding

A truly fantastic experience. Food, wine and service were exceptional - an amazing experience and the food is simply outstanding.

Excellent all around. Loved the Michelin tire theme that must make the Michelin guide folks proud. Only blemish of the evening was the overcharge that my wife nor I did not initially catch. Restaurant manager, Mr. Lorenzo Bigicchi called and promptly offered a refund. Overall, a superbly excellent meal.

"Today i went The Oyster Bar for my lunch, they offers a delightful selection of fresh seafood, especially their oysters which were exceptionally fresh and flavorful. The ambiance was perfect for a seafood dining experience, especially outdoors. However, the service was a letdown. Despite the 15% service charge, our waitress seemed overwhelmed and was not attentive talking with their own co-workers as she introduced herself as a head waitress. It took multiple attempts to get her attention for ordering and the check. Despite the service hiccup, the quality of the oysters and ambiance make it worth a visit, with hopes that the service improves."

We visited for the GBP75 three course lunch in late april and there were three of us. There are great things about this venue: The architecture of the building, the tiles on the outside walls, the room itself and its themed decor, the stained glass, I need to repeat becasue its so impressive, the stained glass. The consistently themed, and very quaint, touches that include the butter dish, the table support, the salt and pepper shakers, the egg cup. For all of these reasons you we want to come back and recommend it to friends. The service is of a matching quality. We found all the staff to be warm and friendly. While the atmosphere and service was great the food was good to very good. We felt it was just a little less than atmosphere and service. Loved the egg. The green dish that followed I think was pasta and a bit heavy....claggy for my taste. Dessert was very good. AUD628 for three, one glass of wine, 15% service charge inc water/coffees. I considered that it was good value. We will go bakc.

I ate here approximately 31 years ago before all of these wonderful renovations and the restaurant would be three stars if it were not in an older structure that has been totally modernized Thank you Claude for another memorable experience

Beautiful setting, attentive service. Elegant presentation and incredible attention to detail. Highlights of the meal were the amuse bouches and our first course. After that, everything was good, but not "OMG!!! This is the best thing I've ever tasted!" good. To put it another way, we've had food this good for 1/4 to 1/2 the price, although not so beautifully presented. In short, this was a new record spend for us, but did not break into the top 5 meals we've ever had. It is an experience that lasts a very comfortable 2.5-3 hours. No rush, no snooty attitudes (often associated with such a high scoring restaurant). Better food is available for less; better service and more artistic presentation would be much harder to find.

We really enjoyed our meal the food was excellent and service friendly and helpful except for the bar service which was very slow. Great atmosphere in French brasserie style with seafood ,fish and meat dishes available in a beautiful setting in the old michelin building with its splendid mosaics and flower boutique at the entrance. Smart Chelsea cliental ,casual chic.

My wife and I ordered the 7 courses tasting menu and a bottle of Burgundy white. Each course was served on a timely interval and presented by the staff with precision and explained to us of the preparation and its ingredients of each dish. The taste of each dish was out of this world! Layer and layer of favor with each bite were there. Wonderful restaurant! Highly recommended.

Superb fine dining in a great setting! Regretfully the service let us down: despite numerous requests to wait with serving the dessert it was served 30 minutes too early! And to compensate for the mistake: besides an apology a 2% deductions of our bill. Yes, a very disappointing end to a marvellous dinner!

Absolutely incredible experience! Would strongly recommend 7 course tasting menu. My mom and I went here to experience the food and the building and did not leave disappointed. The staff was very friendly and able to accomodate my food allergy (pescetarian gf) requirements no problem. Every single dish that came out exceeded expectations and was delightful. The antique Michelin dishes they use to serve the food were such fun surprises next to the unique flavors of each course. Our somm Freddie was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and guided us through multiple glasses of wine per our individual tastes. The building itself is a lovely example of early 20th c architecture with incredible stained glass pieces of the Michelin man. Where the restaurant lacked in maybe ‘trending’ decor it made up for in the architecture, food, service, and antique Michelin artifacts. We left the restaurant incredibly full, happy, and impressed. Well worth the high ticket for the memories.

Had the pleasure to try various great restaurants in London and this was the most disappointing one. Flies were everywhere the restaurant and even after telling the server, the server just acknowledges that there are a lot of flies. Food was not anywhere close to good.

This week was a culinary adventure around London. I got the chance to try so many nice establishments around town. Though the service was fine and the architecture of the building was unique, gnats infested our table and the servers didn’t care. Of the 5 courses I had, 4 were horrible. Despite having a horrendous experience (didn’t finish key courses) and sharing the constructive feedback with the manager, the restaurant still charged the cost of the full meal.

Well cooked exceptionally traditional food. Food arrived before drinks, potatoes were spilled on the floor and the cheese offering was, 'we've got hard, soft, blue and goat' - no list, no nothing. Have always had a fondness for this place but wouldn't return.

In the UK home of Bibendum, the Michelin Man, this was an outstanding experience, as you would expect.

Estuvimos hace años varias veces en el Bibendum y su carta era normal, no pretensiosa y de muy buena calidad. Ahora el menú es pretensioso y mediocre, se equivocaron al tomarnos los platillos y trajeron mal las cosas. Los meseros te describen los platillos sin importar si les entiendes. Recién estuvimos en el NOMA y que diferencia!!!. No se merece ni una estrella Michelin, lo único bueno es la decoración pero desafortunadamente íbamos a comer bien y no a una tienda de diseño de interiores.

Visited the Oyster Bar for dinner. Has a unique atmosphere. You can see signs of Michelin everywhere. My favorites were king prawn burger, pierre koffmann sweet potato fries and negroni.

The restaurant ambience is good. The front of house team is great, they were efficient, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. The food flavours, presentation and ingredients are no different to that of many restaurants throughout the country. It's very good, but that isn't what we expected to be writing having eaten the food of a 2-Michelin starred chef. The wine selection is also, not out of the ordinary. The building and windows have been photographed and posted here a lot; there wasn't anything else photo worthy. It was all ... a surprise. No need for us to visit a second time.

I recently visited the oyster bar for lunch and, unfortunately, my experience was not very pleasant. While the food quality was acceptable given the price, it did not stand out. I wasn’t expecting much in terms of the food, so this was not a major issue for me. However, the most disappointing aspect was the quality of service. Although two of the staff members were friendly, one of the female staff who served our food was quite rude. She merely placed the dishes on the table without mentioning what they were or providing a simple introduction. There was no consideration for what the customers might need. Considering the restaurant charges a 15% service charge, I felt that the level of service provided was far below what one would expect. I did not feel that I received any good quality service during my visit. Overall, my experience was underwhelming and I hope they can improve their service in the future.

We came to Bibendum for our anniversary - we had a really good time, the service was impeccable, the food was really nice too. Finished off with one of the best Negronis I ever had!

Fantastic menu with seasonal variations, impeccable and very friendly service, specific welcome to return customers. The interior is spacious and well-designed, comfortable distance between tables for added privacy. Wine list for every taste and budget. One of our favourite restaurants in London. Highly recommended for all occasions.

It was the most relaxed elegant dining experience one can only hope for in these days of fast turnarounds in dining rooms and very indifferent music played very loudly. The service was discreet and impeccable. The sommelier very attentive with excellent suggestions throughout the service. It was a truly memorable evening.
