Nos quedamos boquiabiertos al oír que nuestro restaurante favorito de londres ha cerrado. Mi marido y yo hemos estado disfrutando de la comida y el ambiente aquí ya nos conocimos hace 40 años! ! Our breakfast was bad! My husband ordered the stuffed banana french toast. What he was served was two halves of burnt, and very tough to chew french toast. One half of the toast had one small slice of mushy spoiled banana (so he ended up not eating that part of the french toast to avoid getting sick) and another half of the french toast had no banana! My eggs benedict was such a small portion- half an english muffin and 2 small eggs. One egg was cooked and the other was runny (as should an eggs benedict be). However, I'd like to point out the prices are "proper london prices" which is unacceptable for such shoddy food. With two coffees, our bill was just over £30...a complete and total waste of money! The waitstaff had no clue about the food they were serving-we were shocked when our food arrived because it looked like nothing we thought we ordered. So we asked the staff if it was the correct order, and they didn't know. So they took our food back to the kitchen, and brought us the same food again. Then another staff member came to our table, looked at the food, asked to take our food back to the kitchen and ended up bringing the same thing back again to us! Amusing to say the least. The food is half decent but the deplorable service, hygiene and unfriendly staff kills the entire experience. Customer service is not a concept this restaurant has ever been familiar with and the manager is an idiot. And let me not get started about the cleanliness...I was sitting and a rat trap from underneath their booth got stuck to my shoe!!! A rat trap! They didn't even apologize or flitch!! They attempt to hide behind their French language but "News Alert" it's the U.K. and English is the language. I use to go here 1x a week at a minimum but I won't ever go here again. The Pinot was really good too. It's a little old fashioned but only in a good way. My only wish would be that they would play French cafe music. The night we were there it was 90's disco which is fun but did nothing for the atmosphere. They have a great business and should be proud. Hopefully we will visit many more times when in London.

Great decor, good food except for the fact that we ordered what we thought to be whole lobsters, as per the menu but when they arrived, had no claws. That's my most favourite part. When I mentioned this to the waiter he said. "Oh yes we always cut them off ". Might have something to do with lobster linguini also being on the menu. The choice of music is not befitting of a French bistro more for a hip hop or rap type joint. Despite this our waiter was very friendly and tended for our every need.

Crisis of expectations perhaps? I thought the service left a lot to be desired. I appreciate that the restaurant was busy when I visited (Saturday afternoon at 3pm), but after waiting 15 min for my reserved table, having to flag down a waiter for service each time got a bit tiring. When I did get their attention, I didn't care much for his "what do you want" tone. Food was ok at best. There is no excuse for crappy service at that price point no matter how busy the place is - just look at the hawksmoor group for an example of good service. Will have to file under expensive west end tourist trap.

The prawn cocktail was authentic, although with an extra 2 king size prawns that we would not have had in the 1970s! We didn't try the soupe a l'oignon. A pity in retrospect. It seemed to be popular. I had forgotten how good coq-au-vin was. And my partner's seared salmon was excellent. Baked Alaska I had almost forgotten, not substantial but a light dessert. The creme caramel was OK . The main courses of Crab cakes and Turbot arrived promptly. The Turbot was immediately sent back as it was overcooked, well actually it was "nuked" to be honest. The crab cakes were OK so my wife started her dinner and I sat and waited for a new piece of fish. I tried her crab cakes which were OK in a nice sauce. Eventually the new Turbot arrived and this one was cooked properly and tasted lovely. The maitre de offered to comp us a glass of wine each as recompense, which sounded reasonable. When we came to pay the wine was still on the bill, and had not been comped. We will not return.

My personal experience was disappointing. I went on a Tuesday night when they offer lobster at half price. We were there a 7:45 pm and there were already no more lobsters. For a night with this offer, a high demand on lobsters should be expected. The restaurant should be ready to satisfy it. Second disappointment was the fact that my sweet potato fries never arrived. I ordered them without truffle oil. At first the waitress forgot ordering them, when I told her, she replied they were coming. Three minutes later she came to tell me that the fries were ready but with truffle oil so she asked for new ones. We had already finished eating so I told her to cancel them.To be fair food and service in general is good but this is a personal review and should therefore reflect my personal experience. So my own advice would be: Just stick to the menu as it is, don't ask to customize your meal (maybe they prepare food in advance...) and don't be attracted by good deals.

Given the quality of this restaurant, my party was a little disappointed by the service here. Things didn't get off to a good start when we discovered that they wouldn't sell us a bottle of the same wine they were prepared to sell by the glass: this seemed quite money-grabbing of the establishment, considering there were four of us eating and drinking, and prices are not cheap. This waiter, whose English was not good, was rather indifferent to this. In the course of the evening we then had several different waiting staff, which often doesn't make you feel particularly looked-after. No complaints with the food: mussels, coq au vin, beef stew and minute steak were all good. Nice ambience too. I wouldn't be in a rush to come here again, as there is good choice in this part of town.

If you look at my reviews, you'll struggle to find a negative one, as I tend to hold to my mother's view that "if you can't say something nice, don't say it". (Well, at least for tripadvisor, where I tend to comment on the really good). However, I've got to make an exception for La Brasserie, where two friends and I had brunch yesterday. Seriously, how can a Brasserie in Knightsbridge (with prices to match) come up with such rubbish? I ordered large cappuccino with an extra shot, a papaya, strawberry and banana smoothie and eggs Benedict, with bacon instead of ham, and a side of grilled tomatoes. The cappuccino was completely tasteless and lukewarm. The smoothie was so bland as to be unidentifiable. However, even these paled into insignificance compared to the eggs Benedict. Poached eggs that were rock hard, bacon that was hardly cooked and a muffin that looked and tasted as if it had been toasted for about three seconds. All topped in a hollandaise sauce that was tepid and tasteless. My companions had ordered kippers and poached eggs, and a full English respectively. The former was a piece of lukewarm fish with rock hard eggs. The latter was primarily a plate of tepid baked beans and. to complete the set, more rock hard eggs! The tea with the former was, at least hot, unlike the cappuccino with the latter.None of us are natural 'complainers', but the collection was so astonishingly awful that we had to ask our (very nice) waitress to do something about it. She brought over the maitre d' who volunteered to bring replacements. In the event, 'fresh' eggs arrived for the kippers and English and I got a new eggs Benedict. The request for bacon rather than ham had, of course, been forgotten, whilst the tomatoes were left getting cold whilst this all happened. The second round of eggs were on the under-cooked side of how they should be, but the yolks were such a watery pale yellow colour that you wondered if they'd come from the bargain bin at the local 7-11. Certainly not the deep gold you see from Nigella or any half-decent greasy spoon. As I said, our waitress did her best and we made a point of telling her that we appreciated that, but the maitre d's approach seemed to be "oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes". I last went to La Brasserie years ago for dinner, which I seem to remember being ok but not great. One of my two buddies who was on a visit home from the US had chosen it thinking that you couldn't go wrong with brunch in so central and popular a location. Well, that was a lesson learned. Absolute rubbish and, our very nice waitress aside, not the remotest sign of anyone being remotely bothered that three customers had all had a dreadful experience. We walked around the corner to Baker & Spice in Denyer Street, where we had delicious hot coffee and chocolate fudge cake, so the day wasn't wasted!

Nice ambience. My meat-eating family thought their food was good. For me as a vegetarian it was less so. The others had the garlic mushrooms and raved about them. For my main course I went for a salad rather than the something and goats cheese risotto / pasta and tomato sauce or gnocchi. Too much cheese for the small salad. My family had various meat courses and found hem well cooked and tasty. Tarte Tatin was a low point, small, almost grey and bitter aftertaste. The profiteroles and chocolate desert with melted centre were, on the other hand, both very good, indeed the profiteroles chocolate sauce was a step up from last time we were there a year or so ago. Would go again as family particularly liked the food.

La Brasserie has been here for at least 30 years, perhaps one of the first French brasserie in the south west of London. Originally it was half the size it is now, simple, honest local restaurant where one could have breakfast and read the papers at leisure. It was quite bohemian in a french way, relaxed and popular with the locals.Over the years it gradually grew to become fashionable and trendy, the place to be seen. The menu has hardly changed since the old days, typically french and basic: good steak minute, pate, moules mariniere, salade nicoise etc..and excellent pommes frites. It is tasty, authentic, fresh and decently priced. That is all due to the Brasserie's staying power in a continuously changing London. There is a good, but perhaps too noisy, atmosphere as a much more 'glamorous' crowd than in the old days, gathers around the bar.Pity that it could be in danger of becoming more like an upmarket wine bar than a place to eat a good, simple and authentic meal in South Kensington.

Nice location but that's it! Rude staff and the food is way below average! Couldn't eat any of it. Bill came 100 GBP per person for food we didn't eat! Avoid at all cost!

It's hard to stay at the top of your game and La Brasserie is not, in my opinion, as good as it once was. Too many tables, and overpriced I'd say, but I will return. One day.

There were seven people in our party and we were given a table on one side of the restaurant which enabled all of us to join in the conversations of everyone. I believe everyone enjoyed the selections they chose, and the wines suggested were very good. Service was responsive and discreet. An enjoyable evening!

Excellent value - and the Chateaubriand very good and much enjoyed. A great place for supper Sunday night - took my son there for the first time and he liked it too.

Have visited the restaurant previously and food generally above average and fun place. This visit I had the chewiest most tasteless RibEye ever. Asparagus appetizers Ok but just adequate compared to a previous visit.

Old fashioned food. Very rude staff. Try and push you onto the worst table even though better tables available.

Excellent service. Good food although I was expecting better for Brunch- pancakes were only okay. When the waiter and manager saw I hadn't really liked my pancakes, they gave me macarons as a gift! Really made the whole experience great because the staff is professional and the client is treated in an excellent way.

I had an outstanding steak with bearnaise and my girlfriend loved her beef bourguignon.

Pleasant brunch at this South Ken institution. Great if you want a London version of a stereotypical French Bistro.

Service shocking but food was good. Mussels were perfectly cooked and lobster linguine as you would hope for. Shame about the waiter.

We have been many times. Impeccable service, food is great. Much better than a brasserie in France judging from experience. Ambiance is delightful.

We arrived a few minutes early and were immediately seated in a nice table near the window. The restaurant was busy and vibrant and, as is usual in most French restaurants, the tables are very close together which made it difficult to have a conversation due to the busy tables around us. However, the food was very good, the service attentive and the wine was wonderful. We really enjoyed our dinner here.

I have been coming to London forever and this is my one never-miss restaurant. It is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The crowd is lively and fun. The food isn't fancy, but it is a very good "brasserie" menu. The bar is terrific and I love to sit there with a drink and watch the passing Mayfair parade. Delightful.

Nothing exceptional or amazing but consistently good. Specialty is meat and the burger is quite good. They also have a good brunch menu (poached eggs on avocado toast, english breakfast...). Acceptable service.

First of all its onion soup! Better than in most of Parisian restaurants believe me as I've tried quite a lot. Reach, generous with good choice of cheese and onions of course. Crab cake is my favourite number 2. Can't resist indeed ...the choice of wine by the glass is not the best unfortunately and it's the only fault I can find

We were 20 of us and the service was incredible! Ameya took very good care of us and his hospitality was great! Highly recommended, if you are looking for a chic Indian restaurant that has the service mindset then this is the one! Their dal makhni and chicken biryani is unmistakably delicious!
