Yummiest scone I’ve ever tried!

The scone was okay. Clotted cream thick and good. English breakfast tea was also okay. Not as amazing as I thought but I think of this place from time to time.

To be fair the cheesecake is really nice, until my fam and I had found a small piece of cardboard from the strawberry jelly layer and whatever that thing is out of the cheese layer from the cheesecake. It’s a shame cuz the cake was very tasty

had their famous scones, and they were excellent. the crust was golden and delicate, while the inside was soft and crumbly. also had a lotus tea, and it was very fragrant. went so well with the scones.

Plain scone (in) £6.9 English Breakfast tea £3.9 The size of the scone is very heavy and large. It looks a bit disconcerting at first because it's thicker than expected, but the house's rich and soft clotted cream makes up for it well. So, if you put too little cream on it, the owner will come and put a lot of cream on the scone.🤣 The taste and flavor of this scone will be two or three times more delicious if you add enough to make you wonder if it's really right, so be sure to eat it as the owner says! + The owner also gave me a tip that it tastes even better when added with Luerpak unsalted butter🧈 As a baker, it was fun to know how much the owner really likes scones :) I plan to stop by again and get takeout before I leave London!

A lovely bakery in the heart of Soho. I love the aesthetic old school environment you get to experience that is very different from most of the other cafes in London. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. I always take their recommendations and try something new every time I go. This is my favourite place to enjoy tasty desserts and an espresso. This is the place I take all of my friends to, when they're visiting me in London.

One of the best scone I have ever had. The scone itself was very nice, the jam was sweet as it is and the clotted cream was good. With black tea with milk was amazing. Oh the service there was abit rough and soso.😁

Asked if possible to request for a cake to be made and picked up on the day of a family members birthday - which they confirmed was a service they offered, and they forgot to make it… I understand that they were busy but do not offer this service if you can’t accommodate! Waste of everyone’s time

The kind and funny Albanian guy who works there is a legend (without him this place wouldn't work like a perfect clock) and so is the very special lady with her deep alto voice! Thank you for the lovely experience as well as for the pie, we should listen to the professionals' recommendations more often; after all, they know better. Love, the Greek-French couple

I went in the afternoon and couldn't eat the scones because they were all gone, so I packed cake, eclair, etc. The store was small and crowded, so I had to wait a bit before ordering. It tastes good, but it's a bit expensive. I'm not sure if it's as good as the ones I heard in line.

Desserts look nice and all, must taste lovely as well, but the server (curly haired lady with glasses) managed to be rude and dismissive even before we actually managed to order or seat down 🫡

Moderate quality sweets relatively expensive 9-10€ for a sweet and narrow place also to sit!! I wouldn't recommend it for any price or quality reason!

Faux French patisserie with limited seating, mediocre pastries, and an unpleasant manager. The young kids that work there are nice, but they have to remain silent around their taskmaster. There are so many good patisseries in London but this isn’t one of them. Avoid this place if you can.

We had an open run at 9:30 on Monday morning and they let us in a little before opening time. The scones... are so delicious and the clotted cream... ㅠㅠ I'll come again to get takeout❤️❤️

Didn’t live up to the hype.. Scone is not bad but honestly I’ve been to better places in the UK. And I felt they were a bit stingy with the clotted cream. I mean if we ordered two scones, aren’t we supposed to get two portions of the cream accordingly?

Poor service, didn't get a chance to try anything as staff were rude, dismissive and told me to wait outside when I tried to enquire as to what cakes etc they had available. Asked for a menu to have a look and was told again to wait outside. Kept me waiting another 5 minutes while they laughed and joked amongst themselves.

I walked past this place every day for about 5 years and have never been in. Popped in today for something sweet - loads to choose from, I had a lemon tart which was very nice although I would have preferred it to be slightly more acidic but that’s personal choice. Service was great. Would return.

One of the Soho originals. First rank choice of cakes. Cream cakes are a speciality. Service though can be a bit short on smiles.

Spinach tart was too cold and like a rock solid. The interior (especially upstairs) feels dirty and out of maintenance. But croissant was delicious.

Wonderful bakery. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Service is excellent, despite the shop and restaurant always being packed full of customers. They take time to pack your takeaway orders nicely, so that your pastries arrive home intact. One of the best bakeries outside of France, imho.

I went around 3pm and waited for about 10 minutes. I met 3 Korean teams~ I only packed plain scones and ate them at the hotel, but I was disappointed, perhaps because I had too high expectations. I think Layered Cafe in Korea has a more buttery flavor and a moist texture. Umcheom’s kind and lovely owner’s grandmother? The lady, who was new to us, taught us how to eat it and even spread cream and jam on it. The servers were all friendly too. It was a leisurely breakfast eaten outdoors. Even though the food is delicious, it's a lovely place because everyone is friendly and not blunt with the excuse of being busy. The hot scones were good, but the croissants would have been better if they were warm, but they were chewy and delicious even when cold, and both the white flats and black tea were delicious.

Beautiful French-style patisserie with some good pastries. The place is split into 2: a very small place displaying all the products and where one places their order and then next door where there are some tables. All pastries are big and tend to be fruit based: apricot, almond and plums seem to be recurring ingredients. Pastries taste good but have not the best texture. One plain croissant was not well cooked in the center while a second one was dry. The almond croissant was also good but hard to cut with a knife. Going to the toilet is a bit of an adventure...

Maison Bertaux is a quirky independent cafe, which is nice and which we would want to support. However, the cake didn’t live up to expectations. The cheesecake had so much gelatin that it turned out chewy, and the chocolate cake was too sweet. The real shock, though, came at the end: 2 lattes and 2 pieces of cake for £23.50! The value for money is poor. We didn’t expect to pay this much, especially considering that it's a simple café with basic cakes. Even some of Laduree's pastries are cheaper!

It's delicious to eat scones with clotted cream and jam. They said the scones were big, so we ordered one for two people, but it's a size that allows one scone per person. However, there are many Korean tourists and the interior is narrow and not comfortable. However, there is a restroom and it is clean.

A French bakery founded by Mr. Berto, a communist who fled France in 1871. Karl Marx is also said to have been a regular. There is a house where Marx lived called Blue Plaque 5 minutes away, so it is worth a visit. It seems like Koreans often have their cell phones stolen, so there is a notice posted on the counter.

Amazing french patisserie that gives off “my grandmother’s bakery” vibes. Bakes were absolutely delicious, scones & clotted cream was a 10/10. The cafe is a small space so you might be squeezing with the table next to you, but the bakes were well worth it.

Maybe because I’m not a chef so I’m still not fully versed with the unfettered joys of a full wholesome freshly baked croissant - but I didn’t quite like it. Soggy, heavy, sugary, butter, thick goey cream and lots of flakes. Very old school. Not bad if it gives you joy. Just not my cup of tea.

Always a nice place to sit after all the walking. Pastries are really nice and fresh. We arrived before noon and some of the staff are already a bit rude and unhappy except for the really nice sweet lady.

It’s friendly and has a nice store feel! It was more expensive to eat inside, so I took it away and ate it at the park, and it was nice that they added enough jam and clotted cream. Since I came to the UK, I thought I had to eat a scone at least once, so I ate it and it was okay. There is also a clean bathroom on the second floor. (But the scones eaten in Korea are more delicious haha)

This is the worst London bakery that ignores customers with their English pronunciation. I heard that a lot of Koreans visit there, so I believed it, but it was a really unpleasant experience. The best scones of my life..🥹 Jam and cream go so well with heavy and fluffy classic scones!! There were many other delicious menu items and the Victoria cake was delicious too! There were many locals as well as Korean tourists, and there is a high possibility of waiting in the afternoon, so I recommend the open run! It's so delicious that I recommend packing it up and taking it to Korea 👍🏻 As you can tell from the many reviews, the owner is kind, lovely, and friendly, so it seems like a warm atmosphere. The other employees are also kind, and I have such great memories!

Don't arrive too early! Don't arrive too early! Don't arrive too early! It’s very important, so say it three times! Although it opened at 9:30 in the morning, it was so early that many types of cakes were not ready and put out yet. If you come too early, you will only have a bunch of croissants and scones to choose from. Therefore, it is recommended to arrive after 10 o'clock, or even after 10:30. The only advantage of arriving early is that you don't have to queue to get a seat right away, but after we finished eating and checked out, we saw a lot of cakes coming out one after another and felt it was a pity because our stomachs were already full. The portion of the cake is huge, so if you have a small stomach, it is recommended to share it with several people. I personally think the cake tastes pretty good. Will not visit again

Of course, it's better than Korea, but there are so many delicious scone restaurants in the UK that I don't think it was special. For your information, the bathroom sink here has a slightly unusual structure. I was embarrassed when I washed my hands.

Despite very nice sweets, the take away service is bad.

When I visited, the restaurant was quite busy. I had a piece of cream cake, which was large and had an abundance of fresh cream. Unfortunately, the cream didn’t taste very good, and I felt it wasn’t fresh. I couldn’t finish the whole piece. Perhaps I chose the wrong item, but I’m unlikely to return.

The place where you can see the most Koreans in London Everyone on the 2nd floor is Korean haha. The earl gray tea was delicious (I don't like tea in the first place), and this was the first scone restaurant that served fragrant tea with a burst of flowery scent and so much clotted cream.

For a moment, I thought I had entered a British cafe in Korea. At the entrance to the store, there was even a notice written in Korean, written in what appeared to be British handwriting, telling people to be careful of pickpockets. It's a small bakery famous for scones, Britain's representative bread, and many people seem to visit because of the interior and atmosphere that resembles a movie set. The owner's grandmother's posh British accent also plays a role. I ordered scones, milk tea, and the recommended cheesecake that were on every table around me. All in all, the price is close to 30,000 won, which is quite expensive even considering that it is London. Milk tea, also known as English tea, consists of black tea and milk served separately, so you can mix them to suit your taste. Adding milk makes it soft and savory, but it is slightly greasy so don't add too much. The scones are so light that you can only taste the flour, so it's best to eat them with plenty of strawberry jam and butter. You shouldn't think of it as a sweet scone with raisins and stuff like that here and there. The cheesecake had a thin sheet and plenty of cream cheese, so I personally thought it was just so-so. I'm not sure about the taste of the dessert, but it's the best place to feel British when you're in the UK.

The staff were friendly, and I went around 9:30 a.m. on a weekday and was able to sit down without waiting :D The scones were so delicious that they were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, but they were so cut that it was a bit difficult to eat them all by myself! I’ve been here many times. The cakes are the best in London and I dream about them all the time. The cheesecake is so soft and melts in your mouth. The Mont Blanc is the best ever, and the lemon custard éclair is so exquisite. If you are a dessert lover and hate the bland, run off the mill chains with their boring bland cakes, then you must come here. It has the air of a Parisian cafe. You can sit outside and imagine you are Toulouse Lautrec.

The taste was honestly sour and the cream seemed delicious. There are a few foreign teams on the first floor. Some of them may have collected it in the basement, but Koreans have it in the basement. I think the cream tea costs about 11 pounds. The service is just… . It was okay ㅜㅠ The server was okay, but the other server was sitting still. He fucked me and sighed loudly..? What are you going to do when you put it on yourself? If you're passing by, you might want to stop by Soho. Um... I don't have to look for it I don't think there's any need to go It wasn't very delicious, but maybe it was advertised in Korea? It was a strange restaurant with only Koreans.

Aside from the taste (the coffee doesn't taste good), they force all Asians into the basement~^^ At first, I thought there were no seats, but when I went in, it turned out that there were empty seats and everyone upstairs was white. My husband said it would be better to be quiet, so I didn't ask to change seats, but I felt bad, and only Koreans kept coming into the dark, dirty interior, and the basement without a single ray of light.

I found a little fly and i told to the waiter and he showed to the chef, and the lady came back to me saying I can eat it anyway cause its only for the jam, they got attracted. They didnt even change give me a new cake and not even a discount. Very disappointed plus I couldnt finish thinking about it. Never again here.

Treated my Mom and 2 children to a cake and drink before going to see MJ the Musical today. Perfect location for a delicious treat near to many of the theatres. We had been here previously, several years ago, so it was lovely to fall across it again today and be served by the owner who I had remembered from our previous visit. Despite being so busy, she took the time to help us decide which of the many delicious cakes to try and was so kind with my children. The chocolate eclair that I and my daughter went with were sublime and my son raved about the amount of delicious jam in his choice. The children also absolutely loved the organic lemonade and said it tasted ‘so lemony’! I pointed out it actually said ‘lemony’ on the bottle! My mom found her Millefoille absolutely scrumptious too. A very busy spot but very accommodating in finding us a table and perfect location offering delicious cakes and excellent service.

There was no great emotion The clotted cream is sticky and everything is good, but the cup is chipped and discolored, so I didn't like it. This is not a house you need to visit.

This place has a lot of great things to eat, and you can see it right from the window of the store. The place is a little small with seating upstairs as well, but it may be crowded, depending on the day you go there. I recommend getting a scone and/or a tea. If you are going there with more people, try to get a variety. A nice place to rest before going around other parts of the London city.

I like this messy French vibe!!!!! lots of choices of ultra-creamy decadent pastries and I had such a hard time picking just one thing. went with a little chocolate choux after all, and it was nice although you could tell it was just custard with a dash of cocoa, and i would have liked it way more if they committed more to the taste of chocolate. otherwise, it was still enjoyable. my boyfriend got a pain au chocolat that was huge and filled to the brim with chocolate, much appreciated!!! :)

As famous as it is, it is a great restaurant with nothing bad about the taste, service, or atmosphere. This is a store that makes you feel good, especially thanks to the energy of the employees. There is a bit of a wait, but it's definitely worth the wait.

I can describe this cafe with a sentence. Poor service, normal taste. Also, the table is soooo tiny for adults. That experience was very uncomfortable.😔 It's a scone place that a lot of Koreans go to, but the service isn't very good and the taste is average.. The servers were confused about the order, so they confused it with other tables, so I kept saying no, but after asking 3 times, the tea and dessert came out about 15 minutes later.. And what? It's a better place!!!!!! It was a bit uncomfortable because it was so close together. I don’t recommend it~~~~~

It is just an average place, not rly bad nor not rly good. We got a table upstairs and the place was quite tiny. The scone wasn't served warm. The server spilled the tea little by accident but he didn't clean the table nor the kettle as u can see in the picture. I went there because it was said to be a good restaurant among Koreans, but I don't think it was very delicious. It was full of Koreans and no locals, so you couldn't tell if it was Korean or British. Especially since the name of the restaurant is French and they only sell British scones and tea, it's a Japanese restaurant in Chinese. I don't think it has an authentic feel. I went there because they told me to go to Audrey Green below, but they don't specialize in scones, and even though I went there in the morning, they weren't there... Don't bother eating expensively here, just go to GAILS. I recommend going! Just that quality.

Actually the cheesecake not as i think is the classic tastes cheesecake. Not my fav taste anymore. The extra layer cake at the bottom is stiff Emmm It tastes bad! Their service is not bad.really kind the lady served. The environment is normal. Really crowded and chaos. If u prefer silence Cozy cafe. This cafe probably not suitable for u. I went to try the chocolate cheesecake is not i expected that the chocolate mix with cheese, But not bad. And my friend ordered strawberry cheesecake, the strawberry on top is too stiff. Overall, dessert in normal, but the place is not bad for hangout with friend.
