Rafal was the best waiter that ive in a long time! Our group had an amazing time! He help us with all our questions about beers and food!

Really nice place to go in center of London, food and drinks were nice and correct price. Wanted to say special thanks to a waiter Rafael for being patient and helpful with us!

Totalmente desconcertado por el barman. Entré y tuve una encantadora charla con algunos de los chicos que estaban en el bar mientras esperaban que me sirvieran. Casi me pierden porque cuando el barman me preguntó qué quería estaba mirando hacia otro lado! Pensé que estaba hablando con otra persona. Lo divertido es lo que pasa después. Le dije que tenía una reserva para 13: 00 , y su respuesta fue simple, una palabra, y de nuevo dijo mirando hacia otro lado de mí. No. Estaba absolutamente desconcertado. Lo he dicho una vez antes y lo diré de nuevo. Desconcertado. Resulta que *sí * tenía una reserva, pero el personal se olvidó o simplemente no era consciente. La comida se veía increíble, pero era muy grasosa y me hizo sentir mal. Las patatas yacían en mi plato, sin comer, en un pequeño charco de aceite. Todo parecía estar recién barnizado. Experiencia muy confusa en general.

Abbiamo scelto questo pub tra i tanti aperti a Londra in questa zona: difficile trovare posto perché sono tutti pieni di persone che bevono una birra (o più), anche alle 18.00. Volevamo provare il “fish & chips”, e così abbiamo optato proprio per quello, accompagnato da anelli di cipolla e delle crocchette al cheddar. Non male il tutto, carina l’atmosfera.

We went to a pub to try that exotic dish: fish & chips. Against all expectations, we loved it. All the other dishes were also very good. Beer - portobello pilsner 👍 We ended with a taste of Portugal, with a dessert recommended by José, who was very attentive. Definitely recommended.

Popped in for a drink before a matinee show and really enjoyed the atmosphere and liked the look of the food so we reserved a table for after the show. Had to pay £10 deposit but well worth it. Lucky we had reserved, it was very very busy. The food was well priced, delicious and served very quickly. Will definitely return

It is close to Piccadilly and we entered by chance, it surprised us a lot because of the great atmosphere and its really good fish and chips, with a side sauce made of mint or peppermint.

Nothing to say, very good food, good atmosphere, but the only downside... a hair found in the fish and chips!

Cramped and overcrowded, like basically every other English pub within a 20 block radius of Piccadilly Circus. Bar staff act as though they're doing you a favour when asking to take your order and the capper is the excessively loud music which renders any attempt at a conversation futile. Avoid.

Our visit to St. James’s Tavern was simply unforgettable. It was our last night in London and we wanted to enjoy a real traditional pub, and we couldn't have chosen better! Plus, we were celebrating my little sister's 15th birthday, and the team made everything even more special. Although we had an initial issue with our reservation, the staff resolved it quickly. A young man, whose name we unfortunately do not remember, provided us with exceptional service: he found us a table for six people quickly and always with the best attitude. The food was spectacular. We tried the classic Fish and Chips, which exceeded our expectations: a real delight! We also enjoyed some incredible desserts and the beers were the perfect complement to the night. Without a doubt, St. James’s Tavern is a place that you cannot miss in London. It is more than a pub, it is a unique experience that combines tradition, excellent food and impeccable service. Highly recommended!

In this place in the center of London in a wonderful atmosphere you can spend a nice time, drink local beer and eat amazingly well. Came and visited last Friday, atmosphere and food was great! The service was amazing, James went above and beyond to ensure that I got full value for money, allowing me to try different brands to ensure I paid for a drink I liked, very hard to find service like this, especially in Central London, I am going to the area again next month and will be visiting again! Habíamos estado en un par de pubs antes de encontrar este durante nuestros 10 días en Londres. Este fue nuestro favorito por la calidad y el sabor de la comida. Hubby tenía pescado con papas fritas y mientras yo quería la lasaña (estaba agotada) opté por las salchichas y el puré. Ambas entradas eran excelentes. Como otros han comentado, las mesas están muy juntas, pero encontramos que eso es cierto para muchos restaurantes en Londres. Y hay carteles publicados sobre vigilar tus pertenencias debido a los bolsillos de los picaportes. Eso es lo que se hace en grandes ciudades como esta. Quería volver aquí antes de que nuestro tiempo en Londres terminara, pero teníamos otros barrios que explorar y nunca lo logramos de vuelta. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente este lugar.

Was walking by & the pub looked nice so I thought I would check it out. Clean & good atmosphere in the pub. I didn’t have food but saw some being carried & the fish & chips looked very nice Shout out to the barman who served me Oliver was very helpful & Orsi was super friendly

It's a really good place to go for have lunch. The fish and chips is delicious !

If there was 0 points, I would give it. When we went in the evening, we encountered incredibly rude treatment from a bald bartender. Even though there were only 2 people in front of us, he was able to take our order in 10 minutes (the ones front of us only bought 2 beers). I've never seen anyone working this slow before. Then I asked for still water in a closed bottle. He took out an open bottle and gave it to me. When I said I wanted a closed bottle, he said again that this is the style of this place. We said very calmly that we should return the water then. He took the water and hit it hard on the table. He got angry at us because he said we don't know the rules. We told him to calm down and respect our decision. Then he said it is enough he wasn't selling us anything and that he would return our beer and kick us out. When I said we want to talk with your manager, he said "I'm the manager I'm kicking you out now" and went to call security. It's a place I will never go to because of its completely disrespectful.

I visited St James tavern with my daughter for dinner on Thursday 17 October . We were given a table for two. The tables in this establishment are very close together. I had put my handbag on the floor at my feet. When we came to leave, my bag had gone. The thief had made 3 transactions on my cards before I realised they were gone and managed to put a stop on them. When we reported this to the barman and waitress, the reply was, " That happens all the time in here ". This just is not good enough and shows contempt and a complete disregard of their customers. If people's personal belongings are stolen all the time then why is there no security staff on the door? The staff did not offer to review the CCTV footage. I will never visit this establishment again, and would advise anyone who does to keep their personal belongings on their person.

Jose , native of Portugal, was charming, helpful, warm and gracious. We ordered the bread & olives, Mushroom Wellington and Chicken dish. Jose also served me a pint of Amber Ale, Fuller’s London Pride (one of best beers I’ve had). Food was excellent; Jose took time to make us (first timers to London from USA) feel welcome. Great food and service in a good position near the theatres

Fantastic London pub like the vast majority, good variety of pints and good treatment from the staff.

My friend and I had lunch here on 3rd Oct, before going to see Moulin Rouge. The food was 5 star, as was the price but we were most impressed with the genuinely friendly, helpful staff. A huge thank you to all.

Cosy local amongst the theatres of Shaftesbury Avenue. The high tables are quite a challenge and it's popular with tourists, so not sure it's a local.

I only ate fish and chips. It was good, the service was correct. We went without a reservation and they found a table for us.

Typical English pub very close to Piccadilly, where you can eat good fish and chips and more, and where you can drink different types of draft beer which I personally found very good. For the place in which it is located, and for the typical nature of the structure, it is certainly an excellent choice for eating and drinking in London.

Food was decent, but not worth tolerating the rude service. I was confronted and told I was wrong when he brought me the wrong meal. He finally checked and brought me the right one with no apology or kindness. Then we witnessed him lashing out on a man who sat in the wrong place with his beer. Piccadilly is hectic, but there are better options with more patient and tolerant staff. Avoid this place, you can do better.

I think this is the best fish and chips in London. It's so delicious! The beer is of course delicious, and the employees are very friendly.

West end Tourist Trap. QR code service said transaction failed but still charged us, ended up paying twice for one of the absolute worst meals we've had in London. I can only compare it to a microwave dinner followed by watered down beer. Wouldn't come back.

Great for a casual night out or stopping by while sightseeing. They were super friendly: since we waited 55 minutes to get our meal (everybody else around us got their meal and had already finished it), they offered us another pint :)

The food was average if a little overpriced. However, my main issue was the policy of charging 10% service charge on food orders. This is odd as it applied to the entire bill, not just the food. So if I had been aware of it in advance, which I wasn’t, I could have ordered them separately and saved some money. Not only that but when tapping the machine, I was offered an option to add a further service charge which I declined. I know I was in central London and I could expect to pay over the odds but a final bill of sale£26.84 for a modest meal and a pint seems excessive to me. I will go elsewhere in future

Had a lovely experience the other day. Went for a pint with my mate. The bartender was fantastic, very friendly I think his name was Ollie if I can remember. Got some food later on and Emily recommended the spicy chicken burger and it was lovely. 10/10 service would definitely come again.
