Excellent brunch, elegant venue and very friendly welcome. Despite an error on my part during the booking process (I had accidentally booked online at another Wolseley Group restaurant) the manager kindly resolved the problem and let us sit anyway. Great service and delicious brunch, pancakes and eggs benedict were superb. It's not cheap, but for me the cost is adequate for the offer: if you enter a place like this, it's assumed that you know where you're going 😉 I would love to go back for Afternoon Tea sometime.

A classy place to spend time with good food in central London. Fruit or maple syrup pancakes that are served beautifully. The Delaunay will forever hold a special place in our hearts. When things don't always go to plan, sometimes it works out that it is just meant to be and you need to trust the process. We were due to have our wedding breakfast at another venue in London, however on the day we were unable to host our guests there. Our original venue had contacted The Delaunay about hosting our intimate part of 20 and I'm so grateful that they agreed to do so. We were in the gorgeous private dining room and we couldn't have asked for a better evening to end the best day of our lives. Even walking throughout the restaurant, little tables were set with lamps that just gave off glamour. The room is so intimate, with all guests seated on one table, dimmed lighting and the dark finishes really add to the overall ambience. The team at The Delaunay managed to turn around a personalised menu that catered to all dietary requirements of our guests and mimicked what would've been the menu at our original venue. As well as setting up the flowers and cake from the original venue. Luigi, our server, was an absolute star in making sure all guests were taken care of and we cannot thank him for his kindness and hospitality enough. He is a credit to the restaurant! We loved how our day turned out and can't thank all the team at The Delaunay enough for there incredible attention to detail. We love that we have found a new restaurant that we will hold dearly in our hearts for all the years to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you from the bottom of our hearts. We can't wait to return! Ellamae + Sam x

Very nice but noisy place with concierge at the door and cloakroom (which is "free"). The staff dressed in shirts, vests and jackets. We had afternoon tea = 2 scones, 4 kinds of sandwiches and 3 cakes each. About 2.5 cups of tea for each (unfortunately, the house's own didn't taste as good). No offer for refills. We were automatically given 2 glasses of water. When we got the bill we got a shock. For the 2 glasses of water, and misc. service charges we got rid of an extra £14.35. (afternoon tea costs £34) On the website it says that they take a 15% service fee. Boring experience

This place is and will always remain a very special venue through its great atmosphere albeit a bit loud. My Lady and I enjoyed our dinner, very well looked after by a very kind Dimitri. If quality has remained consistent over the last decade, the prices had a very sharp rise since the change of ownership in 2021: without becoming too crazy on drinks, you must plan with £80-100 per person. A great place, to where I will always enjoy coming back to, but probably less often than I used to.

Can’t fault the food. Everything was delicious. The service, however, was awful. For a table of 4 spending more than £100 per person, we felt rushed and pressured to order and then finish the meal as we were repeatedly reminded of the limited time we had our table booked. There were many empty tables and no queues of diners waiting in the wings. The hostess, the server and the manager all exhibited airs of indifference and at times unapologetic rudeness. They all seemed to hate their jobs and their customers. Why pay £400+ to be treated terribly? I won’t be back.

Having eaten here several times our most recent experience was very disappointing. More particularly, the food which was badly prepared and a million miles from the quality one would expect from a place like this. The “Bratwurst” would have been unrecognisable to a German or Austrian, the cucumber salad had so much vinegar it was barely edible, the biscuits on the chocolate mousse were burned, etc. Yes , it is a nice environment and the service was fine but this does not make up for the high prices and very variable (at best) quality of the food. Time to go elsewhere

Unfortunately, the restaurant was packed the night we went. We had made a reservation through Open Table for a party of 4 but were treated as walk-ins and given a table near the door and next to a table of 10 who were extremely loud. As a result, the service was below par and we could hardly hear ourselves over the din. The wine waiter was lacking in education and skills and we were left to pour our own wines during the meal. The food was also below par— 3 of us had the house specialty (schnitzel) which was dry and lacking in presentation. Overall, this was a disappointing experience compared to favourable dining at other restaurants in the group — Bellanger and Colbert.

Lovely pre-theatre dining with their new "Full Haus" pre-theatre menu. There were a series of challenges in getting to the point of actually appreciating it. For one thing, the menu is hard to find on the web site, being nested a few levels down, with an obscure name. Then when we called to check whether it was an actual real thing or not - the staff hadn't ever heard of it and they put us on hold for 4 minutes. But the answer eventually came back thumbs up. Then we asked about timing, as we had a show to make at the Donmar, and they said we needed to allow two hours to appreciate the experience. (This isn't exactly a pre-theatre menu vibe.) Then, when we arrived at the restaurant for our 17.30 reservation, we weren't ever offered the "Full Haus" menu. We had to request it from the server specially. But we are very glad we persisted. Everything we ordered was tasty and well presented, in good portion sizes, and the package, 3 courses with a beverage, was excellent value compared to the a la carte and also represented value in its own right. The ambience was formal but pleasant - although it got too noisy for my taste by the time we left at 19.00 (the crowd was quite sedate - but the acoustics aren't great). All the staff had a lovely friendly vibe to them, which we really enjoyed. Please pass on our compliments. Recommended.

The mains were beautifully cooked and the pepper sauce with the steak was the best I've ever tasted. For dessert we had the Salzburger Souffle which was enormous but lovely and light. Please may I have my £600 back? We took clients to dinner at The Delaunay last night and my bottom has still not recovered. Not, as you may have assumed from the food (which was satisfactory), but from the torture device on which we were seated. Never has banquet seating being so firm under foot, nor so erect - the German dining experience was quite immersive. This, coupled with the non-existent service and the mediocre food caused me to wake this morning with great regret, wishing that I could be reunited with by £600. I should have known we were in for a rough ride when we arrived at the bar to be audibly assaulted by a table of four “ladies” and their high-pitched squealing. A London institution? If so, it’s time to leave London.

We decided on a coffee with their famous Sacher Torte at Delauneys to revive ourselves. Choosing to sit inside their cafe as it was a hot day, it was like stepping back in time - elegantly wood panelled, dim lighting, posters and framed prints nodding to its West End location and table and counter arrangement that was definitely European. I am always impressed with limited menus. This was no exception and tempted us into enjoying a supper of Swiss cheese soufflé, light, creamy not too salty with a cheesy even creamier sauce surrounding it. The pork schnitzel didn’t disappoint with perfect bread-crumbing and correct crispness with a tiny side of greens. The fresh lemon and capers balanced the pork but what I loved was the dressing on the greens - citrusy fresh with what tasted like a hint of mustard. We had the Sacher torte wedge packed and savoured the decadently rich chocolate layers at home. The coffees were good and much needed. I felt a wee bit bereft to see empty patisserie shelves but respected their rule to remove pastries at 5pm! They do make their own pastries and bread fresh daily. I’d urge all to have a snack, a meal or even just a coffee and cake at Delauneys as this establishment barks back to an elegant era where making time for coffee and conversation was a daily treat. A good place to enjoy with friends and family. Last but not the least were the waiting staff - ladies who were friendly, smiling and made the visit seem familiar!
