We had dinner at Maisha last night. We've been a few times and very much enjoyed it. This time we mentioned that one of us is coeliac, and that therefore couldn't eat any of the bread. When the food arrived, it was accompanied by a chickpea flour chapati - gluten-free and delicious. We were bowled over by the kindness of this. And the chapati itself was delicious!

They were very helpful with what vegan options I could get and the portion sizes were great. I ordered the Dhal Samba, Boiled Rice and Chipati. I was completely fulfilled afterwards, which can be a problem sometimes with Vegan food, but there was no issue here 🤩. Definitely would recommend if you want a great vegan restaurant experience in St. Andrews.

Mediocre at best. Small restaurant, massive menu. although the staff were friendly enough, it seemed a bit confused. Ordered tandoori prawns and came out sizzling, smelled and sounded great and was delivered to another table. Food was run of the mill, sauce was super sweet and basically ate the food and left promptly.

Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy the meal. The paratha and naan weren't bad but found the daal quite bland and watery and the tandoori tilapia and tuna kebabs were dry. I wouldn't say it was awful and I did finish my meal but I wouldn't return. Perhaps it is better if you eat in, that is sometimes the case, especially with fish dishes which don't always necessarily travel well.

What a disappointing experience! Let me begin with the positives, the food was delicious. However, i specified that i have a nut allergy and the waiters still brought over the nutty naan on top of my garlic naan so i had to ask for a new one that hadn’t touched nuts. It ruined my whole dinner as i was constantly worried that my food might’ve had traces of nuts. The waiter wasn’t good about nuts, he brought over the nutty food with my food which made me nervous. Also, the waiter cleared the table and the nutty dishes very close to me and that made me nervous. Also, it would’ve been better if I was given more than 3 pieces of meat for £13! Disappointing and dangerous🩷

On a short visit to St Andrews we were attracted by the banners outside announcing Maisha as a Scottish Curry Awards winner. So we booked. On arrival we were seated and our drinks order taken. There was a young trainee waiter. Can I just say, son, you have to look around a bit. Staring at your shoes is not good for service but I’m sure you will learn. Starters were good. My wife had veg pakora and I had fish pakora. My fish was plentiful and well cooked. Main course was disappointing. My wife had a chicken dish but felt that there was a lack of chicken: tasty but lacking protein. I had a house special seafood biryani. It says in the menu it features “mouth watering fish from the Bay of Bengal.” There was one large king prawn which was big and juicy. There was a handful of smaller prawns and some mussels. The main ingredient was calamari. I don’t like calamari. I tried it and while not having the consistency of rubber bands, I still found it unappealing. I ended up piling it up on the side of my plate. There is a large variety of fish offered including talapia, basa, mackerel. I expected these to feature but no…calamari. The menu also mentions a veg curry as an accompaniment. That would have helped but it was merely a curry sauce. After this my wife fancied a dessert. We are not loud and would not dream of shouting for service but it seemed impossible to catch anyone’s eye. Eventually after about 20 minutes we got someone. Overall, I am sure this restaurant is very good and a lot of what we had was tasty. I just felt that on the night, They were just not on top form.

Went for a takeaway got home No sauce for vegetable pakora. Pakora was cold greasy and of no substance. Had chicken tikka Kebab, parts of thd chicken was chewy and rice congealed! Shocking amount of sauce and just as well as this was very greasy. The PESHWERI Nan wasn’t home made and bought in as this was thick doughy filled with sultanas and covered with some loose coconut and rafted like bought out of Aldi’s. Absolutely tasteless. We normally go to another Indian in st Andrews on south street. I called maisha back about the missing sauce for pakora and minimal curry sauce only to be told to come back and get more sauce, well no as it’s a cold rainy night and our meal and night was ruined and they refused to deliver as said too far only stay near Morrisons supermarket. Will never be back here and will definitely return to our usual Indian takeaway in south street that is way much better. Only tried this due to a friends recommendation.

Got back to our accommodation 10 miles away to find there was no kabli chana! Phoned the restaurant, no apology, but said if we wanted to 'drop' in they'd give us our money back. Said their delivery drivers wouldn't go that far. He then asked for my card number & said he'd put the money back straight away...he hasn't. Looked online, checked the menu. Had 3.9 on Google at the time which is low compared to others nearby but prices on the website menu seemed low enough to justify that. When I sat down the menu prices were a good 30% higher. If I'd known that I'd have gone to a better rated one. I ordered a beer and the waiter offered me some poppadoms while I waited for my order. I then placed my food order which was a biriyani with rayita (wee pot of yogurt). Before I get onto the food let me tell you my main quarrel. The £33.40 bill. I can afford good food, it's not the money, but this was a total scam. Turns out those 2 wafer thin poppadoms which I didn't even really want were on the bill at £6.55 & infact not complimentary as had been inferred - I obviously should have questioned this. The biriyani was sitting on chopped up iceberg lettuce (?!) and didn't have much flavour - I don't think the chicken had been marinated or slow cooked in a biriyani pot as it was white inside & dry other than a mild outer coating of what it was sitting in. I lived in the middle east for many years & this would not pass for a biriyani there even at the most budget place. Mediocre food is fine if the price matches. I didn't want a fancy meal tonight. But ended up paying a fancy price for very average food & felt scammed due to a) online menu pricing being way off and b) the £6.55 poppadoms that were cheekily slipped in before my meal.

Not even sure where to start with this place... First off had 0 idea about booking, sent us upstairs, who also looked confused and ended up sitting us joined onto someone else's table! It was a booking for a special night - not exactly special to be sharing it with strangers. After 25 further minutes finally got our own table...a table mainly for 4...given to a party of 5. Service slow, sauces with poppadoms lacking proper flavour. Sat infront of a dirty fish tank with dying fish in it. One of our guests were sat right infront of it- not exactly very good to see when eating. My curry was absolutely shocking, 4 bits of chicken and what was probably half an onion cut into massive sized strips. £16.95 for something I could've made nicer from a sauce packet is an absolute joke. Toilet cramped and it's only one toilet so men and woman - bit odd. Could see into kitchen a little and really wish I didn't. Staff member made a quite rude comment when I requested chips instead of rice too. Dirty plates given to 3 out of 5 of our party! Greasy ones, food covered ones and just plain dirty ones. What better way to experience the ancient town! Walking for days on end I completed my pilgrimage not at the ruined cathedral but at this restaurant! The aloo perathi was a revelation, the pickle tray a gift from the almighty, the tikka lamb worthy of...

Four of us went here on a sunday night. This is a fairly small restaurant but it became busy after we arrived. The service was good and we all enjoyed our different meals. No one had any complaints and we cleared our plates. Portion control...

Usually I am happy with this place but recently my order arrived over 30 mins late, some of the food was going cold, and the shish kebab was a tiny portion, chewy, and presented poorly too.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Drink order taken quickly. We had starters, main courses, rice and naan breads. This was the best curry each of us had eaten for quite some time. It was perfect. Staff checked that we were happy...

Lovely, tasty food; served by very friendly helpful waiters. Great value as the portions are large plus they also do an early evening menu which is excellent value. Next time we're in St Andrews we will make a point of coming back here!

Been coming to Maisha for 16 years now. Always a good curry and a friendly welcome. Lamb curry was a treat as always and wifey enjoyed her first time with a tilapia fish curry.

One of the best Indian restaurants around! The owner and staff were exceptionally polite and welcoming. The menu offers a great variety without being overwhelming, and the food was absolutely perfect. The chicken curry and lamb curry were both outstanding—definitely worth trying. I’ll be returning for a few more visits to explore the rest of the menu!

Went to Annapurna for a meal with my mum last week, having heard some really great things about it. We both love Indian food but hadn't tried Gurkha/Nepalese before, so were looking forward to it and it definitely didn't disappoint! We were seated and attended to quickly, with the staff being very friendly. It was quite busy for a Wednesday evening and the staff's friendliness definitely helped with the atmosphere. It feels very homey and welcoming. I ordered the Gurkhali lamb which was so delicious. It was my first time ordering a Gurkha curry and I was so glad I did. It had a lovely heat to it but not overwhelming enough to not let you enjoy the spice. My mum ordered the Chicken Makhani which she really enjoyed too. A lovely slight spice but still deliciously creamy. The rice was perfect and the garlic naan we ordered was fantastic too. Not a single thing I'd change. To top it all off it's also extremely reasonably priced, including drinks. This will absolutely become a regular of mine, already thinking of my next meal. A huge kudos to the wait staff and chefs for providing such great service and food. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who enjoys a lovely curry.
