The reviews sounded great but we were shocked by the prices compared to all our local bakeries. This places wants around £2 for a basic cake. And they were all in small portion sizes. Sandwiches/subs £3.50 and didn’t look worth it. Sausage rolls nothing to write home about. Tasteless meat without any seasoning. Cakes tasty enough in the end but not impressed with size or cost. High cost quite surprising given that Highbridge appears to be quite a poor area.

Have been going to Maises bakery in Highbridge for the last 14 years every Saturday and Wednesday for cakes and have always found the staff and cakes to be untouchable for service But since the pandemic and change of management there aren’t as many staff and the choice of cakes isn’t as good 😊

Simply a superb Bakery. I've lived in this area for many years and visit Maiseys Bakery fairly regularly. Everything I've had from here has been fresh and tasty; the breakfast rolls are guaranteed to fill you up, the cakes and pastries are all fresh, everything is such good value too. Even when it's really busy the staff are always friendly and happy to help you. Forget the high street and supermarket tat, if you're in the area visit Maiseys Bakery for some really good quality grub.

Last day of our holiday coming home we did a ten mile detour to go to Maiseys bakers for a few bits and pieces , we chose the large sausage gaps , lady cake, sausage rolls , doughnuts etc. etc. the sausage gaps contained about 6-8 well cooked and very tasty sausages in a super sizes baps , fantastically tasty , a meal in itself , and served by a very smartly uniformed young lady , who couldnt have been more cheerful and helpful.Maiseys bakery is the best , a great selection of sweet and savoury snacks , tea and coffee and cold drinks complete their vast selection , the sausage rolls and doughnuts and lardy cakes were eagerly devoured on our four hour journey home , their sausage rolls deserve a special mention , fantastic pastry and a delicious sausage meat filling are the best we've ever tasted .Thank you Maiseys for being a wonderful bakers , you deserve every accolade bestowed on you , We only wish we lived closer , and hope its not too long before we're back in Somerset and sampling their delicious fare FIVE STARS *****

We are so lucky to have this gem of a bakery near where we live. They have such a good selection of items now even including prepared bacon and eggs if you fancy a hot breakfast! As others have said, their bread is excellent and their jam and cream sponge is so light it could float. The staff are always friendly and helpful and will make things up while you wait if they happen to be sold out. As for their pasties - oh, their pasties! No need to go to Devon or Cornwall. Maisey's Bakery is in Market Stree Highbridge and produces the best bread around.Yes it is more expensive than the supermarket however there is a better range and it stays fresh for much longer so I argue that this provides better value. There cakes are excellent and I beleive there wastage is very low. I fullt recommend there Milk Loaf or there Wholegrain but all are good.

Went with my husband and daughter, on more than one occasion to this little café A true Gem, staff are always very helpful and cheerful, The cakes are amazing, I have tried to resist but find them too tempting, and unlike some cakes that look lovely but taste is disappointing, these are gorgeous in looks and taste, last time myself and daughter tried the courgette and lime, while my husband had coffee and walnut, both were very tasty, along with an unusual but delicious Mumbai chai, highly recommended. All in all a very nice eating experience with the backdrop of surrounding woodland, and stream that runs past.

We don’t live far from BOS so decided to drive down for a couple of hours. It was a very cold day so decided just to have some lunch then head home :-))) We noticed this little cafe and decided to pop in, there was a table right next to the window/door so we went to the back of the restaurant for some warmth, sadly the staff kept leaving the door at the back open even when my husband kept going and closing it. But apart from that hiccup the food was very nice, and I would return but when the weathers warmer :-))))

Started well, went down hill not because of food but treatment by very aggressive, intimidating landlord ! We had booked, on entering pub went to bar to buy drinksWe were greeted by a very nice lady behind bar,she asked if we would mind eating in the adjacent room as they were busy. She said she would come and get our order for food and drinks. We walked through corridor full of junk and toilet rolls into other room. This room used to be a nice dining room but now houses tv inside fireplace, numerous notices on walls and a lift that looks like a shower in corner.I imagine this room was not normally used.We did not mind sitting in there, looking forward to food.Lady came and took our orders and brought drinks .We were quite happy and were bemused when landlord entered and seemed quite unhappy that he had to serve us. He demanded to know if we were really hungry and wanted starters ,saying aggressively, most people don't as they would not eat mains. We assured him that yes we did want them.He then said nastily that if that was the case it would take an hour and half for food.We said politely that we did not mind waiting. He then said condiments were in the bar. At this point we were sort of amused by him being so rude ,likening him to Basil Faulty. Absolutely bizarre ! Starters actually came in 30mins ,everything fine.He delivered food, ribeye steaks 20 mins later. All cooked to perfection ,one of our party asked where in the bar the condiments were He replied aggressively again,"they are in the bar where I told you 20 minutes ago !! .OBVIOUSLY it does not register with SOME people !!! " The lady came and asked us if everything was OK and asked if we wanted drinks. We said yes and even complimented her on how nice steaks were. We asked him shall we pay in bar and he said aggressively again "Yes and most NORMAL people order drinks at the bar "He then left the pub. This to me was the last straw ! Up till then we just laughed it off .We are NORMAL people who actually live just down the road ! We were asked to NOT order at the bar but what is his problem besides being a rude, nasty bully.None of this was an attempt at humour. I have NEVER encountered behavior like it,let alone by someone who is suppose to be serving you and taking nearly £90 of your money. I have been told since by locals that he is like this ! I feel sorry for the lovely lady working there. Needless to say we will not be back
