Mai's Caribbean Cuisine in York

The goat curry was tasty and delicious. Great portions too. The ackee and salt fish was great too! A lovely little takeaway find.

Terrible We have been to the Caribbean many times and we’re so looking forward to this meal. OMG I can cook rice better than this, the jerk chicken was just chicken, the macaroni cheese was stone cold and penne and fuselli pasta but the best bit of the meal. The chips were so cold and greesy they were just awful. We ordered at 6.10pm and it arrived at 7.20pm. So disappointed as we really wanted to love this

Ordered for the first time and I was not disappointed the food was fantastic with plenty of flavour 😋 Will be definitely ordering again. Delivered with a smiley face too 😁👍🏽 #happycustomer

After reading a fair few good reviews and seeing photos of your food I ordered at 21.38pm with a vague delivery time of 22.00pm. By 23.05 having recieved nothing I contacted deliveroo, having already tried calling you twice and getting no answer. Two separate deliveroo operators also tried calling you with no joy and both stated your status as still open. You were speedy to take my money but now I have to wait 72hrs for a refund. Something I couldn't have immediately because it stated you were still preparing my order. What went wrong? Very poor effort. Genuinely looked forward to trying your food. Once bitten twice shy. I shall not be dishonest when anyone asks me for my recommendations for you either. You may think this is minor? But this is nothing short of failing to provide the service and good you advertise. Theft. Ironically... 23.20 its just informed me my food has arrived! Amazing. Yet it hasn't! I hope you improve fast. Failing that.. Take yourself off delivery platforms. You clearly can't cope. Happy new year.

Really good food I will only order curry goat from certain places and they’re always in Leeds because I’ve never had anything close to this. So happy I’ve found this place

There's not much Caribbean food in York, so I was pleased to find this place for delivery. Went for the curries, and enjoyed them a lot. Seemed relatively authentic (though can't claim to be an expert on Caribbean food!)

Great food and lots of it. The chicken curry and the jerk chicken were both delicious and nicely spicy. And the fried dumplings were great too.

Stopped by when I saw the sign, looking for a quick lunch snack in the afternoon. I have eaten quite a bit of carribbean food, and it was great to see freshly cooked food ready to go, hot freshly fried dumplings and chicken etc, along with jerk chicken, rice and peas etc ready to eat. I had some fried chicken, jerk chicken and a dumpling. The fried chicken was super crispy and very tasty, the jerk was flavourful and the dumpling was spot on too. Lovely. Also had some sauce which was very nice, washed down with a can of Ting. Also great friendly service, nice bright decor etc.

Myself and my partner ordered a small goat curry and fried chicken and chips and jerk chicken wings and a dumpling all I can say is wow this food is beautiful 😍 the portions are massive so tasty 😋 we even have leftovers for tomorrow, this takeaway is outstanding and spicy tasty and plenty of it 🙌🏼Thank you mais Caribbean we will be back everyone should try this as it’s different tasty and extra value for money I cannot stop eating the wings they are spicy 🌶 but so so tasty thank you guys 🙏

The food was good under previous name Dolans but now even better. Mutton Curry excellent. Ann really enjoyed the Jack Fruit Curry. Ordered before delivery started - phone call to advise but still managed to get order to me early. The star ratings I've given are based on takeaway (delivery) - tripadvisor has them as resturant.

Nice visit to a top Carribbean place. Curry goat was perfect, rice and peas same. Would recommend to anyone, Gregory and the chef, top men. Top value and quick service, fresh! Will go again. Thanks.

We visited Mais on there opening day & have been at least once a a week since! The best jerk chicken rice & peas we have tried not to mention there chicken curry And the dumplings and jerk gravy is a MUST try Delicious traditional food made with love Highly recommend
