Mai Hing in Chesterfield

Been here lots of times and tried pretty much most of the menu. Never disappointed. Always great service. Good Grub and fast service.

Always very friendly and the food it was fresh, piping hot, tasty and full of flavour, portions were huge. speed of service is always excellent It almost goes without saying that I love the food too! One of the best Chinese takeaways I've encountered.

First impression to portion sizes is WOW, but... Asked for dish which has pineapple, but there were only 2 pieces of pineapple. Food was bland, soup had jelly on the bottom which was not dissolved pieces. The only good thing was portion sizes.

An absolute hidden gem! Food was really lovely, it was fresh, piping hot, tasty and full of flavour, portions were huge, made the mistake of ordering the meal for one, it would have easily fed two! The chicken with garlic & chilli and beef with green pepper in black bean sauce were absolutely delicious, very highly recommend!!

Ordered way too much food because it was cheap and I assumed the prices were low. Portions were really generous and to top it off food was delicious.

First time order from Mai Hing. On time and absolutely delicious. Probably the best Chinese food I've had delivered. A gem of a place hiding down a little side street in New Whittington

Food delicious, good size portions,would be nice if they had proper chips like they used to some yrs ago,and not frozen like most Chinese chippy do now .but still would highly recommend 👍

Last Night 22.10.2023 My daughter and I ordered our first takeaway from here. It was more of a test to see if her local takeaway was any good. We were very pleasantly surprised! I have had quite a few Chinese takeaways so know what I like and what tastes good. The delivery guy was lovely and friendly. Our meals arrived lovely and hot (to be fair my daughter lives close by). We ordered Chicken Satay Chow Mein and Stir Fry Vegetables in Oyster Sauce. The flavours were beautiful! We ordered spring rolls which came in a lovely box with a sweet and sour dip, they were not greasy and were crisp and flavoursome, the egg fried rice wasn't greasy either and had a really lovely taste. The salt and pepper chips were outstanding! She is so pleased to have found this little gem!! I'm not sure our waistlines will agree but hey ho! I can highly recommend Mai Hing with complete confidence!

Really great food, lovely staff only thing is if your ordering online the delivery price is a little steep and if you collect it has to be cash. Besides that though it’s a lovely little Chinese

Had hi hopes but no status sauce was watery and tasted like nothing not peanut flavour. Noodles had mushroom in which was unfortunate.thr only thing I liked was the crispy shredded beef

Discusting food! Watered down tasteless curry, egg fried rice that was warmed up, definitely not cooked from boiled rice, clumps of rice stuck together and it smelt horrid! Absolute waste of a tenner ..... Yet another useless Chinese takeaway. There so hard to find.

ordered for the first time tonight and am so disappointed, needed to comment asap. The portion size is good but the quality and taste is poor. Plum duck came with pineapple??? the curry was lack lustre, no flavour or heat, the duck was overcooked, mini veg spring rolls again tasteless. We will NEVER order again - feel like we had last nights leftovers will NEVER order again oh and they charged 2.50 to deliver 0.4 of a mile we spent £28

Ordered from here a few months ago,it was ok.ordered tonight and I must say that was some of the worst food iv ever tried to eat, majority went in the bin.curry was so bland, rice seemed it had been cooked for a while, the prawn crackers was stale,asked for no ham in the rice and came with ham,chicken was like jelly,I could swear it must be different owners but apparently not.biggest waste of money #fuming

I ordered spring rolls and instead of a spring roll it was a deep fried rat . Many years of support ruined. Take my advice don’t go there. ( the rat was very nice btw.)

The food is delicious, the portions are good, it's a tiny, tucked away takeaway, well worth looking for. The best I've had in a long time.

I absolutely love this restaurant! I order from here all the time, they even rang me when they saw my address was wrong. The lady on the phone is always so polite and lovely! You get loads for your money it's great prices not a rip off at all! Thank you!!!

The food here was flavoursome unlike some local rivals who's food tastes bland in comparison. The dishes are generous portion wise with plenty of meat rather than the usual veg fill that seems to happen a lot nowdays. I had the jumbo special in hoi sin sauce wth was packed with meat and flavours. I can't comment on the rice but I've heard it's a bit al dente and not to everyones taste.

Used this place for the first time on the reccommendation of my son. The portions and quality of the food was very good, with large chunks of meat, unlike the veg fill of most local rivals. I didn't try a rice dish as apparently it's a bit al dente and not to my taste bu the overall flavours were amazing and I will definitely be back.

Used Mai Hing for the first time last weekend. The menu is extensive compared to other local Chinese takeaways - so many veggie-friendly options! Had to try the salt & pepper tofu and I wasn't disappointed at all -really flavoursome, as were all the dishes we ordered. Huge portion sizes - the rice dishes come in big circular tubs, yet aren't expensive at all (same price as most places, around £5). The only downside was that I had to wait an hour and twenty mins for delivery to Brimington, though I did order on a Saturday, so I imagine it'd have been busy. Will order regularly from here now.

EUsed this chinese for years, many changes in its time, it went downhill but iam glad to say its back better than ever, had a fair few chineses over the ladt few months, all been good, nice fresh king prawns, meat and vegatables, not to salty neither. A recomendation to tbe owners, the combination starter for 2 person, change the 2 small spring rolls to a full size normal spring roll, more seaweed as there is just enough for 1 person, sauce for chicken satay, rib and prawn tosdt was lovely. Also it needs more sauces, 1 pot per person, let the customer choose there flavour sauce say, 1 peking, 1 sweet n sour. Enjoyed our meal again, thank you team Mia Hing

Found a fingernail in chicken chow mein my son almost ate it. Considering the current situation that's horrendous. If fingernail was bitten off and spat out I hate to think what the standards of hygiene are. In the current situation you are supposed to be taking extra care. Disgusting

Just ordered never again it's gone down hill egg fried rice not cooked frozen chips it was all dry terrible thanks it's in the bin never order from you again .

Used to go here many years ago thought we would try it again and now have frozen chips....Not good!

Egg Fried Rice was okay, Chips were nice but the crab and sweetcorn soup was awful, it was so flavourless. Shame as it smelt nice.

Absolutely first class service tonight. Forgot an item and delivered it within 20 mins piping hot. Great phone manner and really really nice food. These guys know how to please.

By far the best Chinese in Chesterfield. Decent portions. Fast delivery. Best taste. Never an issue! When they’re not open, I don’t bother ordering a Chinese elsewhere.

Both my partner and I have been long term customers at Mai Hing, but night we have been left so disappointed and disgusted by the customer service that we will be finding alternative Chinese take aways from now on. We ordered the food at 7.45pm. This still hadn't arrived at 9pm, so we telephoned the take away to find out where the food was. We were told that it turned out our order had been mixed up with another, a fact that had to come to light as the people being delivered to prior to us had phoned in. They were unable to contact the driver so asked us to let the driver know that they had made a mistake. Obviously this was not ideal - the food was already late and we would now have to wait for the driver to arrive, go and swap the food and come back. Nevertheless, we waited a further half an hour with no food. We then rang back to ask what was happening, to be told they had indeed managed to contact the driver, the food had been swapped and it was on it was way. My partner then questioned the state our food would be in as it was almost 2 hours since we ordered, and he was concerned the Dim Sum would have become soggy in the bag - to be told it's kept warm in the thermal bags and would be fine. No apology was offered at this point. We then asked if we would still have to pay full price for our meal, bearing in mind it was 2 hours late and we had to chase them repeatedly to find out where our food was; we were simply told yes, we still expect you to pay full price. Unfortunately, by the time the food arrived a further 20 minutes later we were so appalled and disappointed by the service that we turned the food away. I fully appreciate that sometimes mistakes happen - we are all human after all and mix-ups happen, but to have to chase up constantly and be told that we would still be expected to pay full price on food that was over 2 hours late is unacceptable. We are both so disappointed and would not recommend this take away to anyone.

Ordered by phone and was given the price of my order so i knew how much to take, was told it would be10-15 mins to collect. The order was ready for me when i went in and staff were pleasant. The food was piping hot when i got home (about 7 mins drive). It was all delicious and fresh, the free prawn crackers went down a treat too. Will be going back here soon.

Ordered a delivery this evening, asked for price including delivery on the phone. Delivery arrived promptly. Driver argued that the price was more than the lady said on the phone. Paid the extra. Opened the bag and the chips were raw in the centre and soggy, the bag was already open so not sure what's been occurring. The prawn crackers were soft and clearly an old batch. Used to love this Chinese, not any more. Won't be returning.

Yes the food was early but it was stone cold so had to be reheated, when I pay nearly £20 for food I expect it to be hot the chicken balls was over cooked and the egg fried rice may aswell have been plain rice. Will not be ordering again from there

probably the worst portion of duck ( if that’s what it was ) I have ever seen or tasted . it consisted of a big lump of greasy , soggy skin that wasn’t even attached , thrown over some very greasy bits of deep fried . there was no way anyone wanted to tackle that unidentified lump so £8 straight in the bin !!!!! very d

Decided to order Chinese for my daughter’s birthday . Ordered food at six o’clock to be delivered for eight o’clock., so we ordered in plenty of time. food arrived at ten past nine ! it was only just warm! it was a shame as it probably was nice food . just warm ,over an hour late food didn’t make a nice birthday present !

We have been regular customers of the Mai Hing for some time, and have always been pleased with the meal quality...this week however when the food arrived, the order was wrong and included prawns in the pork noodle box which I am allergic to...I wasn't aware the prawns were in there as they were embedded in the noodles, and inadvertently ate one, resulting in me being violently ill later. The box also included some strange coloured meat that clearly wasn't pork...

Planned a celebratory evening with the kids. Half hour added to the time but good was still an hour + later than that time. Good was nice but we were so hungry could hardly enjoy it. Rang twice in the hour and was told they were short staffed. Food was ready an hour before delivery but noone to deliver it. Very disappointed and upset with the service.

Amazing food. My friends and I will absolutely order again. Really tasty, great quality and great value. Always a nice delivery guy and is either on time or even better, early. Will recommend to anyone.
