Maharanis Indian Restaurant in South Kesteven

I usually eat in the restaurant and have always enjoyed the food but today decided to order a takeaway using the online app. I collected the meal at the specified time but it appeared to have been prepared hours ago when I placed order as everything was stone cold. Very disappointed.

Love this restaurant. Clean, friendly and the food is always really good. Wednesday and Sunday are buffet nights. Recommend to pre-book on these nights.

We have dined in this restaurant over several years and sorry to say that our recent visit was not the best. We we seated at our table, then nearly 25 minutes later was asked for our drinks order, this was after ASKING to be served. Starters arrived fairly promptly. Our main course eventually arrived 80 minutes after being first seated. Concede that the restaurant was busy. However, some form of communication from the waiter(s) would have been nice!

Fantastic food especially the Achari Chicken. I have used this restaurant nearly every week since it opened and I wouldn’t go any where else.

Food was excellent, service was very slow compared to the number of people in the restaurant, it took ages to be asked for a drink, I've given 4 stars because they didn't ask us to leave on closing time, my friend and I weren't busy chatting, if they had asked us it would have been 3 stars, although staff very nice. Atmosphere lovely but it was cold, so again only 4 stars ( it felt like a real wintery blast) and I stupidly forgot to take photos 😩

My husband and I went for dinner last week for the Wednesday special. Excellent value for money, excellent service. Table overlooking the river in an elegant atmosphere... restaurant worth visiting.

Been living in deeping for 7+ years. Had a poor take away first week we moved in. Not tried since. Thought we would try again, this time we ate in. Food and service excellent, value for money, we opted for the Wednesday night special £12.95 ahead so much food, we brought some home, will definitely be back.

Can't really comment on atmosphere as there was only one other party of eight dining whilst we were there, but certainly alright for us, and a cracking meal it was too, so tasty and so much.

Don't think much of the pickles. No lime, onions, etc. far too coarse. The spicy pickle was more like Mexican! The wife did not enjoy the butter chicken. Tastes more like korma, too much coconut and little other flavour. My curry was OK.

The best. There's not much else to say! The environment is calming. The staff are so friendly they are an example to the hospitality world. I wouldnt go anywhere else for an Indian. 10 our of ten, would recommend. Seriously amazing. Winner.

I rated them five stars more for their service and atmosphere than for their cuisine. The restaurant is located next to the river with spectacular view of swans swimming by. I love curries and I have eaten them since I was little. I have tried indian curries from several nations. I exclusively eat curries prepared by Indian cooks, just like all other authentic foods. I am not sure if they have a different chef this time. My impression of their curries was ok which is a real shame. But, well done for the location and service.

I ordered a takeaway last Saturday and unfortunately is not as good as it used to be. Food was cold, driver told me that he couldn't find my house (the same excuse that he used the week before.) tasteless, I am disappointed as it used to be the best in town but it isn't anymore.

Visited this restaurant for the first time tonight following recommendations I had heard; so my expectations were high. Our order included 2 main dishes from the Special Recommendations on their menu; after reading the detailed and enticing description of what each dish included in their ingredients. To be totally honest we were throughly disappointed with the total lack of any flavours and the bland dryness of the ‘lumps’ of chicken, additionally, the peshwari nan lacked any real flavour and was nothing like I have experienced anywhere else before. Remarkably, when the waiter asked if we had enjoyed our meal I replied that ‘it was different and not what I had expected’ ….. and he just left it there with no comment or question 🤷🏻‍♂️ for me to expand and elaborate on. I will definitely not be returning as any restaurant is only as good as the last meal you ate there.

Good food but expensive in my opinion. Charged £14 for popadoms for 5 ppl. Drinks expensive too.

Staying for a few days and this restaurant is a great place for Indian food. Friendly staff and social value meals on a Wednesday. Couldn't fault the food or service. Wish we lived closer. We are from Averdeen!

Food was disgusting and expensive

We got a takeaway this evening (large order over £100) We noticed 3 items were wrong, we phoned them to ask if we could get what we originally ordered and it was not a problem at all, replacements were sent immediately and they apologised for the mistake (we weren’t angry, it happens!) All the food was delicious as usual and worth the money. Thanks very much and will use again

Best sit down Indian meal ever.

Been coming here for years and have tried over 100 Indian restaurants. Cannot find a place that even comes close. Recommend: Maharanis mix starter The Chicken Sri Lanka (extra hot if you like it spicy) Keema Naan Pilau Rice Thank you Maharanis for being amazing every time!

I am positively surprised. The staff are very kind, well presented, and prepared to deliver the very best services. The location is also very good with a car park and a nice view of the river Welland. The venue was clean, tidy and spacious. Last but not least, the FOOD, it is worth every penny spent. Every dish did taste different, was full of flavour and colour. I can recommend Maharanis to everyone.

Excellent quality of service.. owner and staff were very accommodating! First time trying the food and I have to say it was authentic and delicious! All the flavours were as you would expect and the spice level was just right! Would highly recommend and will ve returning!!!

Another bad take away from here. Burnt popadoms that were inedible. A tikka massala with overdone chicken (the few pieces you get for the £9 serving) and a general lack of flavour. Pashwari naan that was dry. A lot has gone in the bin, what a waste of money.

Wow. What an amazing place. From outside looking nice right next to the river. But inside was extremely clean and spacious. Not cramped lovely. We had window space over looking the river beautiful. The staff were lovely very polite smiling all the time and just great. The food was AMAZING. So delicious the flavours were amazing the rice the curry just wow we had medium heat it was perfect. Heat but still taste all the flavours. The naan was beautiful so soft and Hot . So didn’t eat cold naan even while taking moments to talk etc it was still hot beautiful. Hate it when it goes cold . Never happens even the curries were placed on a hot plate to stay hot. Just AMAZING. 100% we will be going back. One of THE BEST curry’s I’ve EVER HAD !!! You want an amazing meal with loved ones definitely worth the short drive from peterborough. You will not regret it x

We regularly eat here as we particularly enjoy the Tandoori Trout. There is an extensive menu of well-known curries, sides, breads etc. Large split level restaurant, with the upper level overlooking the river Welland. Good service and good value. Takeaway also available.

Very very very good food, I've had many a good Indian and maybe toi many bad ones, but this was up there with some of the best, authentic flavours and a very clear distinction between dishes, which for me sets off a difference between the good restaurants and the avarage ones..

Gave my partner food poisoning after we questioned the chicken. Won’t be returning.

Very disappointed. Chicken Tikka was really tough, chewy and tasteless. Also - we ordered Tandoori Chicken described as cooked in a Tandoor oven. NO TANDOOR I'VE EVER SEEN could produce Tandoori chicken like this - pale, white and tasteless - it looked and tasted like it had been boiled. This also was tough as old boots. I left 2 stars as the Tikka sauce and nan were ok.

I used to go here before the pandemic. Now I remember why I hadn't been back. £4.75 for a glass of coke. Overkill on the rice and not much meat in the curry which was more gristle than meat. Husband had sirloin steak, only it wasn't a sirloin and was full of fat. Extortionate Overpriced. Wouldn't recommend and definitely won't be going back!

Given chicken passanda were chicken very overcooked and as a result hard as shoe leather. Side dish received with paneer despite asking for cheddar in the notes. Restaurant busy so obviously take away suffers as experienced. Won’t be returning, enough is enough

Visited Deeping after many years, I knew this as a tyre dealer but was amazed at the transformation. We had the Wednesday/Sunday special. The good was well presented and tasty, extras were not too expensive. Staff are polite and efficient, the decor is not the usual style for Indian Restaurants, my only complaint is that the tables are small. I felt squeezed with three on a four person table. One of us left her bag behind, a waiter spotted it very quickly and chased after us as we walked away..saved a panic later and that was much appreciated.

Expensive for what it is, particularly the starters. Not a great difference in the taste of the various curries tried on the night. Having said that I got my curry fix 👍

Fresh made meals, to a person's needs. I don't like hot or high spices food ,so they dialled it down for me😃 .Ask for what you want and enjoy a lovely meal.

Called in on Christmas Eve and the restaurant was fully booked. I took a meal out, the staff were very helpful and I will be having a meal in the restaurant next time.

Booked a last minute table for new years eve. They were fully booked but managed to squeeze us in. The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The service was that of a high class London restaurant. Thankyou to the whole team for such a memorable evening.

Opted for the set Sunday menu. Offering. Pompadoms and pickles Mixed starters with onion bahji, chicken tikka, kebab, salad Any main course with a £3 supplement for king prawn. Ruce dish and a vegetable side dish with a naan bread. As I don't eat meat I just had onion bhajis, with salad. I opted for king prawn dansak with pilau rice and peshwari naan bread with saga loo. Food was all cooked superbly and tasted great. Service from the staff was great, attentive but not over the top. Really lovely venue offering great food at great prices.

Unfortunately the tandoori chicken we had last night was raw in the middle. The excuse given was "the way it's cooked in a very hot tandoor." It's inexcusable. The chicken was replaced but no discount offered, and my colleague's absent from work with stomach pains..

Came here the other Saturday night, had a table looking at the river which was lovely. Came early around 6pm, service was fast and good. Food was beautiful. Plenty of options, vegetarian options were really good too. Will be back soon!

Very pleasantly surprised, ignore the frontage. When you enter this restaurant it's very clean, airy and has a great atmosphere. This is the place you will want to visit for a good night out. We were served by three very polite waiters (Awais, Aldrin & Russel) who showed a very good knowledge of all the food. A very pleasant evening all round . Thank you.

A reasonably regular visitor to this restaurant and for good reason. The food is always excellent and the service good. Window seats give a nice view of the river Welland if you can get one. We usually reserve beforehand as the restaurant can get quite busy. Special nights will see you full and taking some home with you. Would definitely recommend a visit.

WHAT A GEM OF A PLACE YET TO BE DISCOVERED IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY! I have heard good stuff about this restaurant so me and my mates decided to drive down all the way from Yorkshire. I’m lost for words. The food is absolutely quality and you can actually taste that with every bite and chew. These guys are in the league of their own and I have travelled many miles for food across the UK. The dishes are only a part of the story, I have never received such top tier service from the staff and I seriously cannot fault this place one bit. The manager Yaseen has done an incredible job with this fine beanery. My only critic is why is there not one in Yorkshire??? Maharanis IS the taste of Indian cuisine hands down.

Maharanis Deeping... Where do I begin from the starters through to the last bite it was very delightful. The mix grill was nicely cooked and marinated to perfection. The mains where cooked the way we like it (we requested they be made spicey) allowing us to get the full flavour.OVERALL VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE!!

My wife who lives in Holland organised my 35th event and the only place that could cater to our needs with special allergies and intolerence requirements was Maharanis. The staff was amazing and professional throughout. Ten ten! Fantastic time. Well done Maharanis. Blown away.

We had a party yesterday and I must say the food was absolutely amazing it came out hot, the service was a 10/10. The waiters were kind and welcoming, I do love this place will definitely be coming again.

We celebrated my uncles birthday in Maharanis a couple of days ago. The food was absolutely amazing. Despite there being 50 plus people in the restaurant, the customer service was brilliant. They were very time consistent when delivering food to tables also.

Classic selection of items on the menu plus a few unique to this restaurant. Not a hint of oilyness to the poppadoms, and likewise the naan bread was fluffy and tasty. Main course dish (chicken jalfrezi) and sides were generous portions and all tasty.
