What a miserable experience. Had a special night planned and the food was a big feature. We were so excited to see the extensive menu, and really looking forward to it but our delivery never arrived. After 75 minutes I phoned and they said the food was ready but they were waiting for a driver and it would be with us in 20 mins. Almost 2 hours after ordering I called again. This time they said they had no idea where the food was and would call me back. They did call back, and said there was no food. This was now 9pm so it was toast for our special meal. The last person I spoke to was apologetic, but I was left very let down.

Spent 3 hours in here, made staff aware of the long wait and disappointment surrounding that. Staff then argued back and was very rude. Walked past kitchen on exiting and can see chicken left stored in an open container… very disappointed

Me and my family were staying in a lodge not too far from this restaurant and decided to get takeaway on our last evening. We were met by Minhaz who was very extremely welcoming and we had a nice chat. The food we ordered was exceptional and I would definitely recommend anyone to dine in this restaurant

Gutted again as the food is always so good but was 15mins later than the latest estimated time which was 1hr 30mins after the order time, and was cold once again and needed warming up before being able to eat

Whilst the service was decent, the food was very very poor. Best illustrated by the matter paneer which arrived as a gooey mess. I queried it and was told that unless I specifically ordered "Indian cheese" - ie paneer then then they use "English" cheese - ie Cheddar. So it was a dish of peas with nelted cheddar on it -lovely..... Maybe it was just my bad experience but can honestly say it's the worst I've encountered.

Once again a perfect meal! Everything cooked beautifully and delivered on time. I actually ordered something I’ve never had and it paid off, I will be ordering again!

Never eaten from here before, and I love Indian food, so ordered a variety of veggie (side) dishes, rice, naan and some raitha. It arrived bang on time, and the bloke that delivered it was really nice. That is all the good I can say about the experience. For a start, the naan was cold...as in, totally stone cold. All of the vegetable dishes were chopped so small you couldn't really tell what vegetables they were; except for the green beans, which were apparently the "exotic vegetables" I ordered. The vegetable dishes were all so incredibly hot (spicy) that I struggled to eat them. There were squares of something hard and black, like plastic, in at least one of them; and a lot of hard woody bits that I assumed were whole spices, but were pretty unpleasant. I was really hungry, so I perservered, soaking the food it in the raitha (just plain yoghurt with a few slivers of cucumber) and eating it with bites of the cold naan. Then I got a mouthful that was full of grit, which was utterly revolting. So I spat it out and threw the lot in the bin. Really, never again. :(

I booked this restaurant while visiting Ipswich for the weekend, so am not a regular. I went on the Google reviews, so had a high expectation that it would be good. My view was that the food was mediocre, the service very friendly but slow, and the place was too noisy for my liking, and quite over-crowded. My friend and I were sat in a side booth, with literally 18 inches (450 mm) between us and the coupe dining next to us. It was difficult to have a conversation then given their proximity and hte general noise in the restaurant.

Can not say how good this was. First time ordering. Came fast. Piping hot. And a really good lamb dish which other places have struggled with. Will definitely order again.

Always great food from Maharani whether it’s a takeaway or sitting in. Went in for my birthday and the staff were lovely, very attentive and helped make it a special occasion. Delivery is always very prompt too, and a great selection.

Food was delicious! There was an issue that ment the justeat screen had showed the food had already been delivered but it hadn't. Followed the process and it arrived 20 minutes after its expected time it was still warm and plentiful all I can say is they made it right and will certainly be ordering from there again.

Disappointed as the food is really good here. It arrived 10 mins late and cold !!! Had to stick it in the oven for 5mins to reheat. Will order again but hopefully better next time 👍🏻

This lovely restaurant cooked me and my family the most gorgeous Indian on Christmas Day! Just want to say a massive Thankyou for going out of your way on your day off & on Christmas Day to cook us our beautiful Christmas dinner. Food was 10/10, cooked to perfection.. all ready to be collected at the time specified.. loads to go around and they even chucked in a couple extra! Would recommend their food & their service! We had an item missing. The chicken tikka starter was missing!!

Unfortunately this has not been a good experience. The naan was cold, the chicken pasanda did not look appetising and was luke warm, there was an extra vegetable rice which was not ordered. The prawn puree was good however. Such a shame as the food and service is normally excellent!

Collected from the restaurant and realised they’d forgotten a vegetable dhansak. However, the quality of the food and the speed in which they sent a delivery driver to my house to give us the missing dhansak absolutely made up for this. The curry was incredible and it’s the spiciest phall I’ve ever had so I’ll be coming here a lot more going forward! 10/10!

Went to this restaurant and hadn't booked. Was asked by staff if I'd booked. Said no and was Tutted at!!!! Then he came back and said you can have a table for an hour !!!! We went somewhere else !!!!!

Staff were again very helpful, friendly and welcoming - and also knowledgeable of the menu items. Still recommended. UPDATE: Still love this place. Some of the very best Indian food in Ipswich. I tried the Dora Machli which was excellent. Recommended for sure

Had a great evening with my husband's work colleagues and to top it of the food was absolutely amazing everybody enjoyed it so much empty plates lol & the staff were brilliant & very helpful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a good lndian meal & you do have parking round the back 😊👌🏼👌🏼

The Maharani is exceptional, amazing food, always delivered on time, not one bad thing I can say, never had any issues when ordering, food is always hot when it arrives this is my go to restaurant for Indian food, they even put a little extra on the house for me on my last order.

Been using this place for 30 years, it is without doubt the best indian restaurant in the whole of Suffolk, honestly it's brilliant. Try the chicken phal I highly recommend it.

Blocked because we made 2 complaints in 2 years. First complaint was because our food wasn’t even delivered. 2nd time they left our food on the doorstep without ringing the bell, so by the time we found it, it had slugs on it. This is how they treat customers who have ordered weekly spending over £30 a time for over 2 years ! Shocking!!!

It is hard to get the balance just right in the restaurant industry. It is the subtle blending of 5 star ingredients, traditional recipes, wonderful staff and a great place to be. The Maharani under 2 generations does this effortlessly !!! If you haven't eaten here, you haven't lived.

They forgot the poppadoms, brought the pickles … rest was nice , but a bit disappointing

Was missing food items and had to call twice because food arrived late and was missing items and then they send out what we were missing and then missed another item of food so by the time our food was freezing cold

Arrived 20’mins later than expected and as a result of this the food was cold.

Called as my Husband has an onion allergy to see if a dish could be pre ordered. Advised not to bother to come in and eat elsewhere! Extremely disappointed by this, and very rude. We found an alternative restaurant who could not be any more accommodating. Would not bother with this restaurant.

I don't understand how other people thought the staff were friendly! We had no smiles, no engagement, no thank you when we complimented the food or when we gave a tip £6. Should not have given a tip. Food very good.

First delivery from Maharani. We would order from there again…issue we had was there were extra dishes we didn’t order and missing dishes we did. We missed some of our mixed starter, our Bombay potatoes, a naan bread - all missing. We had two extra rices and an extra chicken tikka korma type dish - as I say piping hot and very tasty but not entirely what we ordered. Was on time too and we are hard to find. Will give them another chance for sure :-)

Fantastic! This is the second time in as many weeks that we’ve had a delivery from the maharani and it hasn’t disappointed, arrived pipping hot both times and was so flavourful that we said the rogan was the best (delivery or in restaurant) that we’d had. Every dish was lovely! I wish i’d realised that they delivered much sooner!

Very disappointed, ordered a takeaway to treat my family. And I got cold food and cold Nan. To make it even worst I got reheated biryani. The rice was dry and churchy. Come on guys it’s a lot for an Indian take away take pride and do the rite thing.

I’m very disappointed, my food arrived stone cold and also my Nan bread was cold. What made it worst my Biryani was heated over rice it was just dry and crunchy. Didn’t enjoy my family indian treat at all. I should have e just cook for them.
