Went with my partner on Saturday the 2 Nd of November 2024 Shouldn't have bothered too be honest, waited over an hour for our main meal, my partner asked why is it taking so long, he was spoken to rudely to say the least, by (the owners son ) saying they were very busy blah blah!! Then he made out we didn't want to pay!!!!! Will never go there again if you paid me hundreds, being spoken to that way, insulted was an understatement.

Phenomenal food. Great service and if you’re ever unsure on what to order ask Frye staff as they have excellent knowledge and will find the perfect curry for you. My favourite so far is the lamb handi

Food was bland, onions were undercooked and the main courses were almost certainly reheated from a microwave. The staff were pleasant and reduced the bill- wouldn’t recommend this, although it wasn’t dangerous it wasn’t what we were looking for.

Friendly staff and a nice setting but above all superb food. This Restaurant offers dishes I have not seen before at any other Tandoori Not only that but these dishes are fantastic. I originate from West London which is packed with Tandoori Restaurants so have had many many dishes This one is up there with some of the best Try it you will not be disappointed. The person who recently posted a review about the kitchen, well it has a 5 star hygiene rating, funny that eh?

Came here based on the reviews and it lived up to its billing. Great Indian food. I had the king prawn tandoori bhuna and my wife had the chicken Tikka. Absolutely flawless. The saag paneer was the best I've ever tasted - and I've eaten a lot of Indian!! Staff were very courteous and attentive. Cannot fault this place and will certainly come back again. Bearing in mind we live 50 plus miles away

This was my first time having a takeaway from & all I can say is, it was bloody fantastic!!! The flavours were amazing & price wise, certainly value for money. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Just wanted to say they do have amazing service. I had few problems which I don’t want to explain gentlemen over the phone dealt with me so professionally and he offered me discount however due to his service I wouldn’t call up to get the discount. In my opinion the best Indian food in Ipswich. Have tried others but they just don’t compare.

You know a place is going to be good when it has 40+ years experience and this place actually still exceeded what I expected. Had a couple of courses here yesterday after work. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food tasted incredible with very generous portion sizes. Will definitely be going back, and also recommending to friends!

Neve been before thought we would give it a try. Food fabulous lovely atmosphere and reasonable. Offered a shot at end of meal and lovely man gave me a bunch of carnations.. Was only just joking when I mentioned flowers . Now sitting in a vase. Will be back

We were looked after throughout, and whilst looking at the menu we were asked what our tastes were, so as to be given recommendations to try. This was spot on, and the choices we made based on these were absolutely delicious - the food was so good. We weren't rushed at all, and given space to enjoy our meal after checking everything was ok. Look forward to our next visit!

I love the Maharani, the staff are really friendly and the food is really reliable. We normally have take-away but really enjoyed eating in the restaurant last night.

If you like special cockroach curries here’s the place. Nasty dirty kitchen, needs health dept. To shut them down. Found in curries. I can assure everyone, this is not a fake review at all. When I took the complaint direct to Miah, he’d blamed their suppliers for the roaches being in my food, you will recognise the kitchen where this conversation took place. Issue has been reported to environmental health as I’m not the only person this has happened to.

Couldn't be bothered to cook tonight, so ordered from our favourite place. Always get a takeaway from here and never disappoints! Food is always hot on arrival and is probably the best Indian takeaway in ipswich.

Managed to get a table straight away despite not booking and it being pretty busy. Food was absolutely delicious, will definitely be returning!

Ordered a delivery whilst staying away on business, staff and delivery driver where friendly, I have posted my receipt, poppadum's where nice and crispy, then it went downhill, chutneys where watery and tasteless, the bhaji's where flat and hard as rock, the worst was to come, I ordered a new dish I had never tasted (Bhuna Khati Gost), the mushroom rice was perfect, but the dish itself was floating in about 2mm of oil/ghee and the lamb was cubed, tough and tasted funny, it was terrible, I was also extremely ill during the night and next day, now I can't blame the meal as I have no proof, but this was the only thing I had eaten, Never Again

What a miserable experience. Had a special night planned and the food was a big feature. We were so excited to see the extensive menu, and really looking forward to it but our delivery never arrived. After 75 minutes I phoned and they said the food was ready but they were waiting for a driver and it would be with us in 20 mins. Almost 2 hours after ordering I called again. This time they said they had no idea where the food was and would call me back. They did call back, and said there was no food. This was now 9pm so it was toast for our special meal. The last person I spoke to was apologetic, but I was left very let down.

As a frequent visitor to the Maharani I always post reviews praising the service and quality of food. Tonight suffered a very disappointing experience. My 18 year old son kindly purchased for me a £25 Maharani voucher as a thoughtful Xmas present. I rang and ordered a take away meal which we sometimes do, and I always collect. Upon presenting the voucher as part payment, I was advised that it was for in restaurant dining only, not for take aways and that they would not accept the voucher. When I pointed out that nowhere on the voucher did it state “in restaurant dining only”, I was advised that my son would have been told that at the time of purchase, and that it was up to him to have told me. The voucher was included inside a Xmas card. Reluctantly they accepted the voucher but cancelled the 20% take away discount as “this was not the intention of the voucher”. This is the first negative experience that I had and was made to feel uncomfortable as though this was somehow my fault. My son is a kind a thoughtful young man who was busy studying for year end university exams during the Xmas period and either he didn’t remember to me, or if he did I honestly cannot remember. Either way, he gave them £25 of his hard earned money which I now understand had to be spent in a particular way. I may well take this up with Trading Standards as frankly I cannot see what difference it makes how his money is spent if not clearly specified. In future, I would suggest that if they want to avoid any future “misunderstandings” and alienate regular and loyal customers that if the voucher is only for in restaurant dining only they should include “ THE VOUCHER IS FOR IN RESTAURANT DINING ONLY”.

Spent 3 hours in here, made staff aware of the long wait and disappointment surrounding that. Staff then argued back and was very rude. Walked past kitchen on exiting and can see chicken left stored in an open container… very disappointed

Me and my family were staying in a lodge not too far from this restaurant and decided to get takeaway on our last evening. We were met by Minhaz who was very extremely welcoming and we had a nice chat. The food we ordered was exceptional and I would definitely recommend anyone to dine in this restaurant

Moved to Ipswich 3 weeks ago for work and have already been to this place twice, it is my favourite place in the town. The food is great , with friendly and welcoming staff. Would highly recommend.

The food was superb and the service friendly. The menu has a wide variety of dishes. It was a pleasure to enjoy a stimulating conversation with the owner. I hope that local people will continue to support family businesses like this.

Gutted again as the food is always so good but was 15mins later than the latest estimated time which was 1hr 30mins after the order time, and was cold once again and needed warming up before being able to eat

Whilst the service was decent, the food was very very poor. Best illustrated by the matter paneer which arrived as a gooey mess. I queried it and was told that unless I specifically ordered "Indian cheese" - ie paneer then then they use "English" cheese - ie Cheddar. So it was a dish of peas with nelted cheddar on it -lovely..... Maybe it was just my bad experience but can honestly say it's the worst I've encountered.

Never eaten from here before, and I love Indian food, so ordered a variety of veggie (side) dishes, rice, naan and some raitha. It arrived bang on time, and the bloke that delivered it was really nice. That is all the good I can say about the experience. For a start, the naan was cold...as in, totally stone cold. All of the vegetable dishes were chopped so small you couldn't really tell what vegetables they were; except for the green beans, which were apparently the "exotic vegetables" I ordered. The vegetable dishes were all so incredibly hot (spicy) that I struggled to eat them. There were squares of something hard and black, like plastic, in at least one of them; and a lot of hard woody bits that I assumed were whole spices, but were pretty unpleasant. I was really hungry, so I perservered, soaking the food it in the raitha (just plain yoghurt with a few slivers of cucumber) and eating it with bites of the cold naan. Then I got a mouthful that was full of grit, which was utterly revolting. So I spat it out and threw the lot in the bin. Really, never again. :(

I booked this restaurant while visiting Ipswich for the weekend, so am not a regular. I went on the Google reviews, so had a high expectation that it would be good. My view was that the food was mediocre, the service very friendly but slow, and the place was too noisy for my liking, and quite over-crowded. My friend and I were sat in a side booth, with literally 18 inches (450 mm) between us and the coupe dining next to us. It was difficult to have a conversation then given their proximity and hte general noise in the restaurant.

Food arrived quickly and was very tasty as always. Such a shame the whole meal and I mean every dish, was STONE COLD. Very disappointed

Can not say how good this was. First time ordering. Came fast. Piping hot. And a really good lamb dish which other places have struggled with. Will definitely order again.

Always great food from Maharani whether it’s a takeaway or sitting in. Went in for my birthday and the staff were lovely, very attentive and helped make it a special occasion. Delivery is always very prompt too, and a great selection.

Excellent service and such tasty food! We have had a takeaway from Maharini more often recently, but tonight really0 reminded us it is so much more enjoyable to go for a meal out with friends! Everything was well presented, hot and very tasty. The staff were attentive, quick and helpful. We'll definitely eat in more often from now on, very impressed!

Food was delicious! There was an issue that ment the justeat screen had showed the food had already been delivered but it hadn't. Followed the process and it arrived 20 minutes after its expected time it was still warm and plentiful all I can say is they made it right and will certainly be ordering from there again.

Disappointed as the food is really good here. It arrived 10 mins late and cold !!! Had to stick it in the oven for 5mins to reheat. Will order again but hopefully better next time 👍🏻

Just want to say a massive Thankyou for going out of your way on your day off & on Christmas Day to cook us our beautiful Christmas dinner. Food was 10/10, cooked to perfection.. all ready to be collected at the time specified.. loads to go around and they even chucked in a couple extra! Would recommend their food & their service! Unfortunately this has not been a good experience. The naan was cold, the chicken pasanda did not look appetising and was luke warm, there was an extra vegetable rice which was not ordered. The prawn puree was good however. Such a shame as the food and service is normally excellent!

We had an item missing. The chicken tikka starter was missing!!

Collected from the restaurant and realised they’d forgotten a vegetable dhansak. However, the quality of the food and the speed in which they sent a delivery driver to my house to give us the missing dhansak absolutely made up for this. The curry was incredible and it’s the spiciest phall I’ve ever had so I’ll be coming here a lot more going forward! 10/10!

Went as a family of four, 2 adults and a 4 year old and 2 year old. The staff were very accommodating and friendly to our young children and were happy to chat with them. The food was absolutely delicious, very tasty and not bland at all, very flavoursome! Our children loved it too. We’re not local, but if we were we would be back all the time!
