Stumbled across this gem. Really good food, reasonably priced. If ever back in the area will certainly visit again. And the staff were polite and friendly.

The best service we have ever received from a restaurant. A super friendly host that cannot do enough for you. We were made to feel right at home as soon as we stepped through the door. . Amazing food that makes your mouth water. A huge variety of curries on the menu which means there is something for even the pickiest eaters. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be visiting often.

I was visiting the area overnight and there is a distinct lack of competition on the Indian front. I was looking for a table for just myself. There were 2 tables occupied and about 6 unoccupied, one was a small table in the corner for to that would have done me. The proprietor ignored me when I came in, then came back and he said it was full this evening as it was the bank holiday. I pointed out that it wasn't a Bank Holiday ( Friday 6th April). So I was turfed out. I rang back 30 minutes later to see if he had a table for 4, and he did. So I guess that my money isn’t good enough for them. On reflection I am glad that I didn’t waste my money. It is a dump on the edge of town anyway. Don’t go there.

Visited the restaurant as a group of 8. The food was lovely, probably one of the best Indian meals I've had. The manager was very warm and friendly and the prices are really reasonable. It's a small restaurant so if you're a large group or going on a weekend it'd be wise to call ahead and book. We had a fabulous evening and this restaurant deserves to be much higher on the Trip Advisor list. We'll definitely be returning soon for another meal!

Fantastic intimate restaurant. I have eaten in and had takeout on many occasion whilst visiting my boat which is moored in a marina close by. Nothing is too much trouble. The food and service are excellent. Delivery was an issue recently though the owner sorted this for me by organising and paying for a taxi. Top class service. Don’t be deceived by the great friendly banter of the owner, always has a smile and a joke for you but clearly takes his food very very seriously. A joy to visit.

I first went to the Maharajha probably about 12 years ago and it's always been one of my favourite Indians and is by far the best place to eat out in Bradford-on-Avon. The restaurant itself is quite small but has a nice, comfortable, friendly atmosphere. It's never too loud or overly busy which makes enjoying a meal and conversation with friends there all the better.

never been here before but on the weekend I placed an order for four people ready for collection. the ordering process was very quick and the staff member was very kind. my orders were ready in 40min time and came out steaming hot. the flavours were absolutely beautiful and me and my friends were very happy with our food. Great value for money.

Great takeaway from Maharajha, the food was delicious, with good servings and still hot when it arrived (temperature-wise!). The person who took my order over the phone was also very friendly and helpful, we will be ordering again!!

Yo y mi compañero Dean visitamos este restaurante indio el sábado por la noche, que era un día antes de la madre. (por desgracia mi hija no podría venir. Habíamos visitado baño) para una estancia de una noche y estábamos buscando un lindo lugar para comer. El ser y estar 15 minutos fuera de la bañera, así aconsejaron a conducir un poco más en el pueblo de Bradford-on-Avon, ya que había muchos sitios para comer. Fuimos un poco más lejos de los principales grupo de restaurantes hasta que nos dimos cuenta de que la red enmarcado "MAHARAJÁ" a la izquierda y así decidí parar e investigar. Lo primero que nos recibió, que más tarde tomó Hassan nuestros pedidos y sirve, junto con su encantadora esposa. El menú tenía muy buena pinta, pero este era un nuevo restaurante, así entre los platos ordenados eran Jalfrezi y sentir, ya que Biriani tanto de estos sería un buen indicador para la calidad y la frescura en las especias y los ingredientes utilizados. Toda la comida era absolutamente genial y todos tan llena de sabor. . . Con auténtica y especias. La calidad de sus ingredientes. Hassan fue extremadamente amable y muy servicial, ya que preguntó si el plato de salsa biriani podrían efectuarse sin saltana en y también mucho más caliente. También notamos los demás platos que fueron traídas y sirve de las bandejas de comidas calientes y platos calientes, etc. (hecho sólo agua de la boca mientras esté esperando! ) nos alojamos más de estaba previsto que helado y conversamos nuestro anfitrión amable. Nos alegramos de la elecciones que hicimos no sólo en los platos que elegimos, pero la decisión de elegir el restaurante. Los precios del menú son muy buenas. La comida y el servicio son tanto de alta calidad y recomendamos a todo el mundo que tiene un gusto por la comida india. Aunque este no es un restaurante grande, es suficiente para unas cuantas mesas y pueden juntarse para grupos, como vimos cuando estuvimos allí. . . todavía muchas mesas a la izquierda. Por lo que os aconsejo que quizás la reserva con antelación. También ideal para personas saliendo desde el Kennett/Canales de Avon. Sin duda volveremos (con otros) si estamos visitando la zona de nuevo. . Simplemente no es triste en nuestra propia puerta. Un arreglo de locales por casi dos décadas, el maharajá se ha ganado su lugar como el ir a un restaurante indio. Altamente recomendado.

The food here was beautiful. Fresh, packed full of flavour and perfectly cooked (and the keema naan bread actually had meat all the way through it). The place may be very small but it's a gem.

La comida era deliciosa, seguimos las recomendaciones del propietario y nuestras chicas también disfrutamos de la comida. Tuvimos varios curries mientras estábamos de vacaciones en Inglaterra, y estos eran nuestros favoritos! Recomendamos encarecidamente este restaurante.

Qué más se puede pedir? El restaurante es pequeño y que aumenta la sensación de amabilidad y buen humor. Éramos un grupo de tres que habíamos tenido una noche difícil y realmente lo pasamos en el Maharaja, no sólo porque la comida era buena, casera y estaba claramente preparado con ingredientes frescos, pero también porque los propietarios eran amables, buen humor y apreciadas por sus otros clientes. Una joya de restaurante y bien merece una visita si te gusta la buena comida india.

Me and my wife visited this cosy little restaurant on Friday night without a reservation as we could see was very busy but took a chance to see if we could be squeezed in the waiter (which we later found out to also be the owner) asked if we could return in 10 mins as a table was just about to become available which we did and im so glad we did on are return we were met with a warm welcome now to the food I had a tandoori king prawn starter which tasted very fresh and fully of flavour the prawns were cooked to perfection (not chewy) my wife had a chicken chat which again was perfect for main I had lamb jalfrezi my wife had chicken rogen josh both nice size portions we shared a mushroom rice and garlic nan all in all was an amazing meal and evening will definitely be retuning next time I'm in Bradford on Avon

Este es un lugar acogedor para comer y fuimos un tranquilo entre semana. Al estar acostumbrados a restaurantes indios más grandes "cadenas" con sus pequeños ejércitos de camareros, fue un agradable cambio de ritmo para ser servido directamente por el propio director, que era un caballero tranquilo pero muy agradable.

Esta es la segunda vez que he estado en el maharaja ahora y yo salimos como un cliente feliz dos veces... excelentes precios para comida de muy buena calidad. Estábamos en un narrowboat vacaciones así que comimos allí en el camino de salida y de nuevo en el camino de vuelta. Dice que valió la pena la visita, es un agujero bastante estándar" en la pared de la casa de curry, pero era perfectamente propietarios agradable eran agradables y felices! Yo estaba bebiendo sidra y se quedaron fuera, así que se deslizó por la carretera y compramos más y nos impresionó. El curry no era el mejor, pero perfectamente aceptable, sin duda barato y alegre.

Aunque el camarero/propietario es muy amable el llevar teníamos no era la mejor. Pedí el Madrás y era muy aguada y no muy sabroso. Encargué un Chapati y en realidad fue de todos modos comprar en paquetes desde el supermercado y poner la llama de gas para darle algo de color. Había seis de nosotros en general y ninguno de nosotros tenía un comentario positivo aparte de la popadoms eran frescas y sabrosas. Si estuviera de nuevo en la ciudad esta no podría volver.

Es ideal para encontrar un pequeño restaurante indio que es un negocio familiar con muy buena comida. Tenía una gran bienvenida cuando llegamos y disfrutamos mucho de nuestra comida. Sin duda lo recomiendo a gente que visita Bradford on Avon y bien vale la pena el paseo de la zona principal de la ciudad.

Fuimos a cenar. Tendrás que caminar a este, ya que no hay obvio aparcamiento cerca. Se trata de un pequeño restaurante indio tradicional con el menú de igualar. No llevar. Interior del restaurante es muy pequeña así que olvidar ir como una fiesta, supongo. El acceso para minusválidos puede ser difícil. Las mesas están un poco apretado, pero los cuatro de nosotros nos las arreglamos con un pequeño esfuerzo. La comida es excelente, las porciones que usted puede esperar. Teníamos una pequeña entrada, plato principal, postre y botella de agua y factura era de sólo tímido de 60 libras. El servicio es excelente. Buena relación calidad-precio nos pareció. Volvería otra vez. bajó un punto para interior estrecho.

El restaurante (ya que hay muchos buenos) es un poco decepcionante en apariencia aunque me encantaron las fotografías de antiguas maharajahs en la pared. Lugar muy pequeño, nos sentimos muy incómodos cuando nos fuimos. Un camarero gruñón que les riñan todo el tiempo y era inútil. Tuvimos que esperar bastante tiempo para nuestra comida y una edad entre plato y platos principales. Después de nuestros entrantes nos sentimos tan incómodo en allí nos hubiera gustado no nos molestó pidiendo comida, ya que todos queríamos irnos. Las bebidas son muy caras.

The food was good, not great, and expensive. And do not drink here. My husband and I both had gin and tonic. The drinks could not have been more than 3 oz. each and cost what you would pay in a swanky hotel in the US. Stick to the pubs for drinks. Much more reasonable.

Went to this place last night. Staff very miserable, the food was the blandest Indian cuisine I've ever tasted. I ordered a jalfrezi and there was no hint of heat or spice whatsoever.There were nine of us, and ok, we were a stag party but although quite boisterous we were well behaved. The waiter kept telling us to be quiet and it was obvious he didn't want us to be there. I'm annoyed that they got £200 from us for very bad food and even worse service. I would never return or recommend this place to anyone. Avoid.

Absolutely amazing chicken curry, probably more known for their take away rather then their dine in, but their dine in was very nice as away

If you like chicken to melt in your mouth and okra that is not slimy then you should visit here. Hassan is charming and chatty - and remembers everything the next time you visit. He is not great at boasting or advertising his excellent food but it is well worth a visit - he now delivers at the weekend too!

My friend and i went last night for a meal and although we hadnt booked we asked for a table, We were put in a little table where neither of us could move despite there being other tables empty. The waiter/owner was very short with us and when the food arrived it looked bland and univiting, i did complain about the food having no taste and being dry and his reply was 'thats how we cook it here' i explained politely that i had eaten this dish for years and it was not done properly, and we were fobbed off, The man clearly only cares about money, his customer skills are non existant and his food was bloody awful.would i go there again - no id rather gnaw of my own armWas it worth it - sorry no a night sat on the toilet definitely wasnt a description in the menu.

the food here is very poor and the service much the same. We had ordered a mushroom dish which was dropped on the floor and was replaced by what was so supposed to be Bombay potato but was more like sliced fried potato. The sag paneer was awful it was like shredded cabbage with huge chunks of cheese!! I could not leave quick enough. don't waste your money

We have yet to go to this restaurant and have anything other than friendly, excellent service and memorable meals. On the most recent visit, admittedly on a Saturday, the place was packed and they had to say sorry to a number of customers as there are limited spaces. The lamb chasni (and yes it is real lamb!) is a subtle dish whilst wife and daughter enjoyed a sizzling chicken tandoori. The restaurant is a little way from the town centre near to the canal and sometimes there may be a few tables taken as a result midweek but on our experience you will not be disappointed by the quality of the service and meals.

Food is OK, the service is OK. It's OK really. Nice enough. If you have eaten at a lot of spicy restaurants this won't feature in your top 100 possibly, but for a small town Indian restaurant, there are a lot worse

Four of us visited recently one Sunday evening.We received a warm welcome and attentive service,although as we were the only customers,that was to be expected.With the help of the waiter who we assume to be the owner who elaborated on some of the meal descriptions,we placed our orders which arrived promptly, well prepared and in decent sized portions.It wasn't the best Indian food we've ever had but yet again there was nothing about it to criticise.Overall,although it didn't set the world alight,it served it's purpose and we would return. Possibly,if there was an alternative Indian in town,the Maharaja might up its game a bit.

Came here with a couple of girl friends for a night out.Place lacked atmopshere, food was bland and service poor. It was November but it was also a Saturday night so expected it to be somewhat busier. There was only one other couple in at the beginning and then just us. The restaurant was cold, we kept jackets on the whole time. We asked for advice re what to order and got no help at all. At 9pm they then started blowing out all the candles out around us....time to go! Would not recommend and would not go again.

Myself, my wife, and our three children arrived at 7:00pm to an empty restaurant for dinner after a long day traveling. We walked into the doorway and was engaged by a gentleman hunched over the bar whom when we asked if we could have a table responded "what?! with them?" (referring to our children). He then continued to tell us no, we could not have a table because of mess the children would make.Needless to say, we left very unhappy. We've never been treated so poorly - ever. Our children are very well behaved and we had a nice dinner nearby at the Thai Barn who was very kind and accommodating - with no mess.I recommend that no family with children support this establishment to send them a clear message that children are not animals and we demand that they be treated with respect as humans.

Great take away service - my dhansak was delightful, lots of flavour and good balance of sweet and sour, rice and naan cooked beautifully! Always a lovely warm welcome would thoroughly recommend!

I visited thid this estabilishment with a friend on the evening of Sunday 12th May at 6:30 pm while staying in Bradford on Avon. We had spent a long day hiking the Kennet and Avon canal and were very hungry. We walked in and noted that there was only one other small family in the restaurant so opted to sit in the window on a table for four. The manager appeared and without welcoming us, told us in an extremely rude manner that we could note sit at that table. He did not confirm that the table was booked which I do believe was the case on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm. We were so disgusted with his rude behaviour that we walked out. I would not recommend this estabilishment to anyone.

No-one could claim that this restaurant is anything other than compact. For me that was one of its great charms.We found the welcome to be good, the food to be well balanced and tasty and the decor wasn't over the top. I particularly liked that the food was not swimming in oily grease, as can be the case with more mediocre curry houses. The owner (who told us he was from Armenia) is clearly committed to producing good quality food, freshly prepared. Not only does it say so in the menu, you could taste it in the food also.

Very disappointing food. The owner was very enigmatic and welcoming. The decor is fine but the food felt like it had come from a jar. My wife's vegetarian dopiaza was basically frozen peas and sweetcorn, a few potatoes and a tasteless paste. The chicken chasli tasted like it was from a sharwoods sweet and sour and the chicken wasn't well cooked. 1 star for the host but won't go again.

Very small and cosy restaurant. Very attentive staff. Cleanliness a bit under average. Rather than change top table cloth after diners left, waiter sponged it down with a washing up sponge!? Food ok but not the best Indian food I've ever had. Probably wouldn't bother going back if I was ever in Bradford on Trent again.

Had a meal for 4 mid week. Not many in but to be expected in Bradford in January. But even so we were given one of the warmest welcomes ever and we enjoyed the 1-2-1 service and humour of the lady in charge. We had 4 different dishes all cooked to perfection and not running in grease with fully rice and crisp poppadum. It's a little faded the less comfortablI and clean. if its curry you are after walk down from town a little way towards the canal and have some great food and very reasonable prices.

A little gem just a short walk from the canal at Bradford Warf and the only real indian restaurant in the town. It's a smaller restaurant that allows a peaceful and intimate experience with the owners willing to have a chat if that's what you want and there's no hurry to get you to eat and go. Its always a good sign when there are people present who eat there time after time.The menu is varied and has all the usual dishes you would expect, but well cooked and presented. The takeaways are the same high quality as what is served in the restaurant but what strikes you most is that when you open the trays they are not covered in a layer of food colouring and fat which suggests the chefs here know what they are doing and not having to rely on fat and colourings to get the taste. One definately to sample and reasonably priced.

The food in this restaurant is really good and plenty of it. All price's are fair and seating area is clean.The decor is a little dated as is the bar / drink facilities, however a good meal and a full belly.Happy days

This really is the place to go if you're looking for fantastic, tasty curries, whether dining there or for take-away. Hacene and Alison always give a very warm welcome and the amount of repeat business they get says it all.

I am astounded by the other reviews on this page as we have dined regularly at the Maharajah for many years and can honestly say that they serve the best Indian food that we have ever found (with the possible exception of India itself !). The proprietors, Hassan and his wife Alison are charming people who work hard to ensure that the quality of food and service are excellent. The dishes are authentic and freshly prepared to order (they are happy to adjust the heat to suit customers' tastes). My particular favourite is the lamb Chasni which has a subtle flavour of lime but equally as good are the Biriyanis, Jalfrezis and.......Oh hell, we've been through the menu and it's all good !!! Please try this little gem in Bradford on Avon, I promise you will not be disappointed.

The first thing that struck me on approaching this restaurant is that there was no aroma of cooking.....normally Indian restaurants can be scented from half a mile away. We were the only customers on arrival and we were served our poppadoms promptly and courteously, along with a very decent glass of white wine. Our menu choices were tasty and hot; however we did observe that the lady proprietor disappeared into the kitchen at the same time as our order and remained out there until our food was ready. This pattern was repeated with every further order from takeaway customers (of which there was many) and eventually some more restaurant customers.....but still no Indian food aromas. My suspicion is that the food is bought in and heated to order, not cooked fresh on the premises. Oh it was very authentic Indian food and it was very tasty...but all the signs are that the food is made elsewhere. However as the prices are very reasonable, this is not a complaint, it's just an observation. We are seasoned Indian food devotees and have eaten in many Indian restaurants around the country, so I can't say this is in any way a contender for Curry Restaurant of the Year. But it's adequate and fills an empty belly.

Bit bland, fairly cheap but you get what you pay for sometimes. Small restaurant, quiet but this means a poor atmosphere as close to other diners.

If you like indian food this is the place for you with friendly waiters and exellent food, you can have as much or as little as you want
