Dined in on a busy Saturday night, food and service were excellent. Will be back again.

Brilliant service and the food was delicious, by far my favourite Indian place. Could not recommend enough

Decided to try the Maharajah as it’s under new ownership. Wow! I can’t fault our meal tonight in any way. From greeting to departure the staff were polite, prompt and friendly. The food is amazing. Had a wide selection of fish, lamb and chicken all were tasty, warm and filling. Next time we are out in Rugby we will be eating here.

Sadly I have to agree with another review on here. The food when delivered, was a tasteless mess. We ordered, amongst others, a chicken korma and a biriani. All the sauces were runny and more of a sad packet soup mix than a sauce. Actually, a packet soup would have had more flavour. I will never use this restaurant again and advise everyone else to do the same .... or buy a pot noodle for a better experience.

Worst food and worst Restaurant to visit. We ordered Paneer masala curry and butter naan the total was something around 19 pounds but they charged us of 22 pounds. Don’t ever visit this place

I’ve never written a review like this, but I feel it's important to share my terrible experience at Maharaja Tandoori Restaurant in Rugby. We went there for dinner on my birthday, expecting a nice meal. As soon as we stepped inside, we were hit by a damp, musty smell, which might have felt stronger since we had just come from fresh air. Eventually, we got used to it, but the problems continued. We noticed a hair on the table, and without us saying anything, the waiter noticed and removed it We ordered starters, but they were undercooked, and things only got worse. We hoped the mains would be better, but they weren't. The Puri was undercooked, and the color of the food was off—it just looked unappetizing. We also ordered Keema Barata and Tandoori Chicken, but the Tandoori Chicken was the toughest and most undercooked chicken I’ve ever had. To make matters worse, we even ordered a Coke, and it was served flat, with no Fizz in it When we pointed out the undercooked chicken to the staff, they offered a replacement, but we declined, suspecting the chicken was old stock. Given that it was a Monday, the food seemed like it had been sitting around for a while—completely inedible, tough, and undercooked. I rarely complain about food, but this was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in the UK. The starters weren’t cooked properly, the Tandoori wasn’t cooked, and even the Coke was flat! This place shouldn’t call itself an Indian restaurant. To make matters worse, after I got home, I had severe vomiting, which only added to the disaster of the evening.

Customer service was excellent a very nice gentleman on the phone kindly gave us lots of time and support when trying to order a curry on the uber apps app the curry was sublime 10/10 😄

Warm beer, bland curry and to make it worse they can't add up a bill of three items correctly. Had some better experiences here previously but won't be returning

Been here a number of times over a few year. Staff are always attentive and polite, service reflects this. Food is consistently good and good sized portions with quality ingredients.

Nice food, bit on the pricey side. The guy who took the order was not happy when we didnt order a main dish for each person(to the point of being rude) there were 2 adults and 2 children so obviously the children had some of ours as they simply wouldnt have eaten a main to themselves.

Ordered pizza and mixed pakora. Took an hour and both were freezing. Will not be ordering again, not exactly cheap.

If you are looking for reviews and want to decide where to eat Indian food then you should honestly read reviews given by Indians for an Indian restaurant. Bland food , same tomato puree base is used for every veg and non veg dish. Tandoori roti is best avoided.

Very friendly and high quality restaurant. I love the poppadoms and sauces. We all enjoyed our main meals. My tandoori king prawn massala was magnificent

It was worst experience, ordered tandoori roti, it was not cooked properly.

Takeaway. Mixed grill Naan Korma Biryani Food average, nothing special. All curry very mild but otherwose nicely flavoured.

Very clean. Friendly helpful staff who made suggestions for a side dish for my teen and treated us all well.

Have eaten here twice recently and I've become a fan! The food is absolutely beautiful, they go the extra mile to tailor the spicing to my preferences. The service is exceptional, they care about their customers and pay attention to every detail with precision. I also like the relative privacy between tables, the layout suits every need, as I don't like noisy restaurants. I will return and would highly recommend this brilliant place. :)

Ordered a takeaway and was delivered on time and food was piping hot. Food was fresh and delicious with healthy portion sizes, the naans were perfect and the onion bhajis were crispy, solid effort from the resturant and would highly recommend this place

I have been to this restaurant many times the food is always excellent. Went out for my hubby's birthday and service was poor. People who sat down after us had drinks and food before us! Shame really.

This is an interesting one good lady and I fancy to curry as we haven't had one for quite a while so as I was traveling through rugby I decided to have a quick look at Google Maps recommendations for curry houses in Rugby they're quite a few to choose from with 4.4 star ratings and good number of reviews but this particular establishment came at the top so I thought in for Penny in for a pound, un arrival I was greeted by a member of staff who is very friendly very polite and took my order in Great details I'm inquired how long it was going to for my takeaway I was told only 10 minutes. 10 minutes arrived and like a seen out of Mr Ben where the shop owner appeared like magic ( old kids tv reference) a waiter appeared carrying my takeaway beautifully on time. I rushed home with Great Expectations but this where things started to go arey...... after unpacking it all first impressions were good it all looked very nice but to be honest with you it was very Bland and really lacked any form of heat or excitement having been a regular customer of a Indian restaurant in Lutterworth the food really let down the atmosphere of this restaurant the staff who were exceptional. I really don't want to give a three-star rating to this establishment because it has so many good things going for it but the number one thing they specialize in was underwhelmingly Bland really a great disappointment to both my good lady and I, sorry guys but must try harder on the food front.

This is not an Indian cuisine at all. Food is bland and not up to the Indian standards. Perhaps name the restaurant after any country that do not fetch the customers. Never Again.

Does this chef know what vegetables are. The vegetable biryani was bland no flavour as far as we could make out there was only cabbage stewed until it had no flavour, we also had a butter chicken that tasted like it was from a jar. I wouldn’t recommend anybody going here it was a total disappointment.

Still the best Indian restaurant in rugby, enjoyed a lovely meal with my wife in a pleasant atmosphere 😊😊

Food was overpriced compared to quality and quantity. A poor experience on this occasion.

Food was served 'just' warm, chicken was over cooked, hot plate wasn't sizzling for the tikka, fish was over cooked from frozen,plates the food was served on were cold and not heated, no one asked if our food was ok? not value for money, especially for what we got....won't be going back....

Poppadoms were over done, Chicken Tikka Starter was 7/10, Lamb Madras ＆ Mushroom Fried rice was 8/10 and Keema Naan Bread was 9/10. Was on a works do, I would go there again if there if no other Indian Resurants were available at the time.

Food was brilliant. Hot temperature, nice flavour (wasn't overly spicy) and great portion size as well. I'm a fairly big guy and I was plenty full enough after my Biryani. Would recommend.

Amazing food and the service was increadible

The food was tangy with a hit of bad meat and served chicken leg instead of chicken breast on a Tandoori mixed grill. Then to be told that it’s a £1 charge for taking away left over Bombay potatoes that we’d already paid for.

I took my two sons here earlier in the year. We had a reasonable meal that all enjoyed. As a consequence my younger son visited with friends last week. They had a nice time and meal was of a good standard. He did not finish his meal and asked if it could be bagged up so he could take home. He was informed that there would be a bagging charge of £1 which he paid. I personally think that this a disgusting charge especially as the bill came to circa £120. If it had been me would have refused to pay. He and hid fiends will not use the restaurant again and I will not either. Own goal in my opinion !!

Very tast food with fast snd friendly service. Prices were quite high after poppadoms, rice and naan, but can’t complain about any of the experience.

Worst curry I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. Ordered a Thali and Pathia. Just bland is the only way to describe it. I’ve cooked better currys at home from a jar. Quite a bizarre experience and when we informed them, there was no interest. This has been a family favourite restaurant for many years, such a shame. Won’t be returning

Vegans be warned. The 'base sauce' they use for everything isn't vegan. So they were very professional, and helpful, and they made the effort and I appreciate that. But what I got was three dishes with no sauce, so overall a 'dry' meal.

Great, quick service and tasty food. My husband got his eggs which he loves with curry. More variety in desserts too, so that pretty cheesecake was delicious!

Great place, always our go to for a curry

Adequate but ultimately disappointing. Four of us went, shared poppadoms and starters (which were OK) and had our own mains. My butter chicken was bland (yes, it's supposed to be fairly mild but it had very little taste). My daughter asked for lamb pasanda (which is also mild) but asked for it spicy. They said they couldn't do it! Never had that response in an Indian restaurant before! The result was - yes, it was bland. The peshwari naan was also chewy. The other two mains were OK.

Quick trip out with the boss and never been to this place before.. Food was nice but the service was a little bit slow at times. Price was about what you would expect for a curry house.

Have used the Maharajah for a number of years, when in the area. Always a warm welcome. Food is always excellent quality, tasty, not full of weird colours and the staff are attentive, polite and friendly. Shame its 240 miles from home.

Nice internal decor, clean looking and lovely white tablecloth’s, the staff were really helpful and attentive. The poppadoms were really good, crispy and no grease, the chutneys were also very good. The main course was bland, had no taste at all, butter chicken tikka it could have been anything. The pilau rice was white and more like boiled rice, the peshwari naan was dry and tasteless plus really small. Really disappointed with my food, my friends said they enjoyed there meals but one like me felt underwhelmed.

Ordered chicken tikka takeaway pilau rice popodums dips nann bread Cost me 23££ Not much chicken mostly sauce and sauce no flavour or depth to it worse one I’ve had to be fair. Popudoms small nann was nann no seasoning bland bread. One of the worse curries ect I’ve had will not order again still hungry lol after 23£ curry lol. If u like food that’s bland go here never again for me thanks

Excellent quality curry house with great food and modern decor. Standard curry restaurant menu, food cooked more naturally with less colourings than many places. For example, pilau actually has cumin, cardomom and cinnamon pieces rather than multi colour food dye! Tikka really nice, Dhansak great, lots of lentils but no pineapple! Dakeshwari (mild with fenugreek) on the menu which is a rare and delicious choice. Best selection of dips and chutneys to go with poppadoms including lime pickle as standard 😋

Very poor experience. Had takeaway today and had one mouthful and the bin had the rest as been vomiting for last 3 hrs as something disagreed with me. Will not be using again please to say.

Have eaten here a few times when lodging for work. The food has always been faultless. Tonight though a new aspect. Lodging in lockdown where we are totally reliant on takaways for all food the guys here have again excelled. I am repleat! !
