it was very disgusting i ordered biriyani and there was 2 pieces of meat and biryinai rice that stank so bad and tasted like oil and clarified butter. There was spices that stank and the portions of food were extremely miniature and overpriced for the amount of food given.

Avoid this resturant if you want to enjoy your food. This review is from my wife account. Foods don't deserve any star , serve is ok . The curry is very small portion compared with money. Nan is very thin , and one portion rice is not more than 25 gm + Meat comes 6 small pieces in curry -I know bcz I'm a head chef (17years of experience chef) of an Indian restaurant in Birmingham. Food is not that tasty. We were hungry that's why I didn't check the reviews before going to this restaurant. I would request the woner to increase the size of food portion even if you need to Increase the price . Please don't rob people. I felt shy to take pictures.

Please avoid this place, the adult portions are fit for a child. The price is ridiculously expensive considering how less the portions are. The taste is very average. Me and my family go to many restaurants, where even if it's pricey they give really good portions. We also have family and friends restaurants where food is delicious and portions actually fill you. They are a rip off

Avoid this place , the portions are really small, the nans are like rotis , you would need 3 to make one normal naan size. They are a rip off. They charge too much and barely give any food. The taste isn’t nice. I own a restaurant, we give real portions where people get full. Even they manage to pack food to take away, not too cheap but it’s worth the portion.

Went for a meal here tonight - the vibes were immaculate and everything we had was fab. The table was full of food and the waiters were honestly super lovely and kept us entertained. Omar and his colleagues made us feel super super welcome and we’ll be back!! Service is amazing here - they can advise on food and spice levels if you’re not sure too which is lovely. Can’t wait to pop back in later.

Amazing food, good vibes, local to seafront

The food taste was too worst, the staff were soo rude, they even don’t know how to behave with the customers. It the worst biryani i have ever tasted. The quantity was not enough for the price, waste of money and time.

TOO MUCH OIL in all the food items. Curries were sweet despite us asking for spice. Overaction of the waiter. Average ambience. A big NO from me.

Best Tandoori chicken I have ever had 10/10

Went to Maha-Bharat last night for dinner for my Mum's partners birthday. Second time in 2 months we have dined there. Everything about Maha is wonderful. The service, the waiters are so lovely and genuine. Food is absolutely delicious my Chicken Shaslik yummy. The ambience is gorgeous with the most beautiful fish tank in the middle which I find tranquil and fascinating. Its an excellent Indian. My husband and I were particularly impressed on New Years Eve. We decided to order a takeaway. After trying a couple who couldn't care less and one put the phone down we rang Maha who explained they were very busy but they could accommodate us. Going the extra mile for me is top marks. Its fab if you are local or on holiday try Maha you won't be disappointed. It's our Indian we will use and recommend.

I apologize to all asians considering dining here, but it's not worth it. There was a lot of oil in everything they served, and the atmosphere inside felt like sitting in a dark cave with very low lighting. I would not recommend this place.

Best Indian in Torbay. One of the best curries I’ve ever had, actually. I had the Rajeshwari which was insanely good. Excellent service, very polite and happy staff. Fabulous food - soft, marinaded meat and you can taste every spice added to the sauce (which is obviously all home made to perfection!) Cold cobra on tap and a lovely, cosy atmosphere to match. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Arrived for a celebratory meal, was greeted extremely warmly upon arrival and given fantastic service, especially impressive as the meal took place at the conclusion of what must have been a very busy bank holiday weekend. We were treated to two flavoursome dishes that matched the fantastic service provided. Will visit again and recommend for anyone in the nearby area. Thank you for a great evening

We were staying locally and literally chose the restaurant closest to us (not even reading reviews)! Having lived in Bristol, Birmingham and London between us we've tasted the best and the worst of British based South Asian cuisine! We were pleasantly surprised by our Garlic Chilli Chicken and Lamb Korai to find both to have been cooked authentically (without it seems an excess of base gravy). Both had coarsely chopped onion, chilli etc. The Chicken dish was a little heavy on the pepper (black pepper??), but had delicious chunks of garlic and chilli. The Karahi / Korai had a nice hint of aniseed and great chopped veg, but was unfortunately smothered in Kasoori Methi (which can be very bitter) so we spooned some off. We wonder if it was meant to be Coriander! The Bhajis were on the small side but delicious. Saag Paneer was also really good, if for a lack of Paneer! Our Garlic Naan was lovely, but the Paratha just a little too long on the heat. Overall we'd definitely recommend the food, and will compare it with the competition literally opposite over the road next time we visit. Thanks for a nice meal and great to see some authentic cooking. 😁

Service a bit slow. Have been before and had good food. Visited again and found the curry dish ordered very disappointing. Lacking flavour and more like peppered thick gravy with bits of chicken floating in it.

Not much of an atmosphere as there were only a few tables taken. Staff were great, good was good even though I'm not a curry fan. Boys night out and went for that more that the food. The only negative I have and it was asgard with others in our group. It was freezing cold and there didn't appear to be any heating that we could see or feel for the entire evening. I sat with my coat over my knees and left shivering.

Just got a chicken vindaloo from here. Hardly any chicken. But plenty of potatoes. Sauce is tasty but did ask for a CHICKEN vindaloo not a potato.

Love this restaurant. In fact the waiter tailored the spice level and some ingredients to my liking and also offered ideas of what would go well with the “NAWABI” dish and King Cobra beer that I ordered. I loved the way the kebabs, chicken and shrimp were sautéed together with their special tomato/onion/spices after being grilled! Absolutely fantastic! Must go again on my next trip to Torquay! Great service and ambience too! Enjoy y’all!

This is a must. We have had some fabulous Indian meals over the years however this tops them all. Most delicious flavours, the spice levels were spot on and the service was impeccable!

Very small portions not the nicest food Won't be going again

I had a very enjoyable meal and overall experience. The Chicken Tikka Jalfezi 'Special' had a thick sauce, which added texture to the flavour. The portion size may be slightly smaller than some people would expect, but add a side dish and naan bread and it was the perfect quantity. The staff were very friendly and genuinely interested in conversation. I hope to return to Torquay at some point and would revisit the restaurant without hesitation. Thank you!

Staff were very attentive, happy faces, quick service AND the food was fabulous! They gave me a pen, which it used often to recommend and supply the phone number to family & friends. Looking forward to coming back soon..

Way too expensive sadly, and I can see why the place is empty on a Friday night. The food and service is good but the prices are ridiculous. Sorry.

Went for an Indian meal ordered mixed grill main. Should have tandoori chicken and chicken tikka and shish kebab. Could not define chicken as it was all pale and bland with no taste. Husband had chicken tikka main which was pale and just mush with a sauce of some kind, I think to hide the lack of chicken. No taste, bland and looked something the dog had brought up. Had to wait over 45 mins for this. Complained and was told this is how we serve it. Offered 20% off bill when we never ate it. Told them we were not paying and they got very defensive. Like it lump it was their attitude. Told them to call the police we were NOT paying. He did back down but would not recommend ever going to this resturant. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Have just left after one of the best Indian meals we have ever had outside of India thank you to all the wonderful staff and amazing chef shame we don't live closer but we will be back

Food was excellent, lovely ambience in the restaurant but staff were very friendly and made the difference. Nothing was too much trouble for them and my 8 year daughter said it's your best restaurant she has ever been too. Would definitely dine here again.

Awful meal had chicken tikka rogan josh worst rogan josh I've ever had chicken was normal not tikka but they said that's how they do their tikka it was like something out of a jar my wife's chicken biryani which is only meal she eats in Indian food said it was not good at all and to top it off we had 2 poppadoms and on bill they also charged us for pickle and dips don't waste your money here guys I won't be going again

Attentive staff, we all enjoyed our meal and my youngest who has SEN was not judged by the staff, he enjoyed the food and lookjng at the fish.

Cracking little Indian restaurant I’ve frequented for many years, haven’t been for a while since I moved away from the area. We came here for my birthday. Food was top notch, from the chaat starter to the spicy but tasty Naga Chicken main. Lovely choccy dessert too.

Welcomed into the restaurant and staff all were very friendly, starters came promptly and was very tasty. Main dishes were very tasty and generously portioned, thoroughly pleasant evening out.

Tasty but miserly premium ingredients - lamb, prawn: prawn dish had the fingernail sized cheap shrimp and only half a dozen for a premium price. Lamb pieces also small and few. Rice portion said to be good for 2 would indeed satisfy two children. Tasty and nicely different menu but overpriced.

Appalling service and average food! We went for dinner on Saturday and were terribly disappointed! Had to give our order four times as the server kept forgetting and even then they got the wrong dish. One of the servers was rude as well. Avoid this restaurant!

Nothing bad to say me and my wife are hear for some time away, just so happend to come across this place as we are a lover of eating out and trying different foods ect ect. From start to finish the staff made us feel really welcome so friendly very polite very well mannered Food was amazing the way it was served was like being abroad and not in the UK. For the hot towel at the end and little chocolate just shows how much they really appreciate you for choosing there lovly restaurant Thank you all for amazing food and making us feel welcome 5 🌟

Happen to stumble on this little gem, food totally brilliant served with a smile very friendly staff, deffo worth a visit you won't be disappointed.

Mahabharata had been recommended to us. The table wasn't ready so we waited which was fine although we were made to feel we were in the way. The server came and took our order for drinks, the drinks came and they bought two of the same drink. When we said we only ordered one she went to take it away and we said it's OK we will have it and the lady replied, you may as well because you will be billed for it!! There were 8 of us and instead of going from one end of the table and then from the other, the end the sever handed down scolding hot plates down the table. Then a naan bread came that we didn't order and we were billed for that. I had tandoori King prawn but it was tandoori king prawn! Really disappointed, was looking forward to good Indian food. Fish tank is amazing though!!

Disappointed order a chicken tikka balti when food arrived he said chicken bhoona ,I said I ordered a chicken balti he said sorry this is a chicken balti It wasn't food was very bland feel slightly cheated

Please don’t waste your time or money going to this place. They took thousand years to take the order and then more to get the food. Food was okay. Service is very slow and all the waiters were so confused what’s happening.They were giving wrong orders and no one was keeping track of any table. They kept seating everyone but hardly attending. Honestly food was not worth waiting.

My first visit here, but wonderful flavours, and very attentive staff.

Food was ok apart from the butter chicken, which came with 4 minute pieces of chicken & when asked if this was normal we were told it was, more like a beige chicken soup. That was after we waited ages & 3 trips to the counter to ask for our order to be taken. Would i go back ? 🤔 sorry its a 👎 from us, not as good as they used to be ☹️

Nice dinner but when we arrived to the restaurant our table wasn’t ready or available and we almost left till the manager came out and said a couple was just leaving.

Amazing! I rarely leave reviews but this food was really tasty and flavoursome, hearty well cooked food. The staff accommodated us (a big group of 10) on short notice and they were friendly, helpful and quick. Couldn’t have asked for more!

We were in Torquay for the weekend and booked Friday for a table on the Saturday at 9 o'clock. When we arrived at 9 o'clock we were told that there was no table for us as they didn't think we would turn up so had given our table away..if we had turned up late I could understand but we were on time! One female staff was very apologetic but the man behind the counter who originally took our booking just shrugged his shoulders and couldn't be bothered..Rude rude rude !!! he was quite abrupt and said we could squeeze onto a table for 4 (there were 6 of us). When we said that this was unacceptable again we just got a shrug of the shoulders..we were made to feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable as the rest of the diners were now aware of the situation and staring..getting nowhere we left without eating.. could have spoiled our evening but we found another restaurant where the people were lovely, homely and so much more welcoming..

Food was very ordinary naan lovely rest ok ..never heard of tamarind red sauce??? This is served in all Indian restaurants South East London etc even in Somerset. Would not return

Have tried here twice and both times had really poor food. Just a few cubes of dry chicken tossed into a bland sauce Customer service was strange as the lady taking my orders was fine (but preoccupied) and yet the man who took my payment never said a word, never said thank you or anything just walked away when the payment went through Very basic food, strange atmosphere, not recommended

The table service was ok but the manager in the suit was really rude to his staff at the table. The guy that took payment for our meals had zero manors. Food was great though.

Really bad experience. About 30g of meat/chicken in each curry. Flavours were all off. Ordered a jug of coke that was supposedly "4 pints". Got 4 half pint glasses full from the jug. Customer service is lacking tried to argue with me over the coke when raised query. Didn't bring my j20 till the meal was over, same with yoghurt mint sauce. When I went to pay the £130 bill was asked how the food was. Told them. They did not care to respond. Avoid this place like the plague they do not care about customers or food one bit. I guess since they serve alcohol most the customers are too drunk to realise.

Me and my partner visited for dinner yesterday evening. We had such a nice time. Great food and staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the best Indians we have ever had. Definitely worth a visit as you won’t be disappointed!

Very friendly waitress but main course took 1 hour to serve and was luke warm with little hicken in the massala. Head waiter was very off hand when we complained but many resteraunts in Torquay so this one loses our business.

We were a party of four with no table booked on a Saturday evening. The place was packed and lively but the management were accomodating and got us a table. The food was excellent so tasty and hot. If you like curries you will love this place.

Tried getting a walk in on a Friday night but were fully booked. Booked for the Saturday night at 7:30pm. Restaurant was busy, although service was on the slower side our servers were attentive. My food was delicious, my Husband had an issue with his lamb whereas mine fell apart. Staff were quick to apologise and arrange additional food. Price was about right. Although we should knock a star off for the issues the staff certainly made up for it. A special mention to Izzy.

Invited by a friend, he recommended it, friendly enough staff, nice decor but the quality of my main course was very poor. Ordered Chicken Tikka Masalah . The sauce looked like it had just come out of a jar, rather tastless, looked hard for any chicken. Should have complained but as my friend raves about the place I didn't want to embarrass him so kept quiet, however, certainly first and last time.

Honestly can’t believe how great this food was. We stumbled in by chance, but the dishes were perfectly cooked, very fresh, just beautifully flavoured. Waiting staff were lovely too. Top marks.

Loved The Place, Kind Staff, Very Welcoming. Our Waiters Were Superb With Us, Billy Was the Best, He was Really Welcoming and Loved to Talk to us, The food…. Oh My God. The food Was So good, I ordered The Madras, It was spicy and i struggled to eat it But i loved the flavour and Texture. Anyways if your Visiting Torquay and Wanting and Good Bengali Indian, This is the Place for you. 5 Stars

Appalling service. We were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. Seems like their true business, is catering to ubereats etc takeaway customers. They certainly didn't care about us, or make us feel even remotely welcome, or 'valued customers.' The female staff were friendly enough - just. The male staff - not friendly at all. We had to chase them after about 40 minutes to even take our order. Then it was one VERY long wait for the food - which was ok but not fantastic. The restaurant was less than a fifth full (we now know why) and they appeared to be well staffed. It completely ruined our evening. When we asked if there were any issues causing our lengthy wait we were informed that they had a lot of takeaway orders to deal with. When our food was served shortly after our enquiry, the staff made us feel that we were just a hassle for them. They need to have a look at their priorities. If they can't be bothered catering for on site customers , they should make it takeaway only and stop ruining peoples evenings. Why they get 4.1 star reviews is beyond us. We would give them 0 is it was possible.

Really good food here. Just had a chicken rajeshwari today and it's to die for. Had the mosalla and korma my previous visit and they didn't disappointing either. Great staff too. Very professional and polite.

WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD !!! We stopped off at this restaurant looking for some authentic bengali/ indian food. To our surprise, one pot of paneer tikka ONLY HAD 5 MINISCULE PIECES OF PANEER IN A LAKE OF OIL!!!!!!!! The same was with the chicken tikka, ONLY 5 PIECES OF TINY CHICKEN. Altogether this cost £11, what a waste!!!
