Magna in Bedford

Didn't deliver all my purchases and impossible to contact so got no remedy payment or food as just eat hopeless too. Dall and mango chutney not delivered yet paid all in advance. No contact means cannot check being cheated...

Food from here is amazing, absolutely delicious, staff very pleasant and food delivered very quickly..very happy to recommend!!!

Under new ownership so they're still finding their feet. Polite, quick and attentive service. No longer serve alcohol (Bangladeshi Muslims) but that's not a problem for me personally.

Magna has recently moved buildings and feels like new owners. I loved Magna in the past, but honestly can say that today was the worst Indian takeaway I've ever had. Chicken tikka was tasteless and soggy. The prshwari naan was plain. The onion bhaji was soggy. Everything has been binned. Really disappointed.

Warmest of welcome is always on the menu,nice guys ,excellent food .very good portion size ,hard to beat this combination of food & service.how long they have been operating speaks for itself.

Worst curry I have ever eaten, saag paneer was cheddar cheese with tinned spinach, meat was tougher then a timberland boot. Shockingly bad!!

The guy said the payment didn't go through and cancelled my order - checked my card and the money's gone. He's still saying he hasn't received it - even the bank told me they have defo got my money. So there we go - never again.

Excellent Old School Venue..Reminds Me Of Yesteryear

My family and I love it here. Extraordinary and very friendly.

Food was ok, however portions were inconsistent. We ordered 3 main dishes however they were all different sizes. We also ordered a mixed grill starter for 2 and it arrived on on hotplate and was split in to 2 portions. Lamb was very tough. I was also somewhat surprised that the waiter thought a vegetarian dish was a chicken dish and couldn't tell the difference between garlic naan and plain naan!. The most disappointing aspect is the decor. On the outside I remember seeing a sign that this restaurant was established in 1981. On the inside it feels like it has not been updated since then! I don't think we will be visiting again.

Great depth to the flavours. Beautiful freshly made naan. Very friendly service. Very attentive and prompt. Had a lamb madras and chicken madras - the restaurant adjusted the heat of the latter for my guest. Good range of drinks. Kingfisher and Cobra beer and spirits, liqueurs etc. Food served at table on heated metal plates. Gave us a free side dish (sag aloo). Little chocs at end. I always come here when staying in the area. Nice evening.

If you want traditional indian, bangladeshi or pakistani dishes cooked in the traditional way this is the place to go. Ok, its not swish and trendy looking, but the food is great and the staff are lovely.

Food was average and cold. Due to it being a 45min delivery and over 2 hours later it turned up. Items missing from order and not replaced told it will be on next delivery. Multiple calls and told 10mins each time. I will be sticking with vujon

Honestly the best curry I've ever had in my life! It was absolutely awesome, had the Chicken Tikka Masala and would rate it an 11/10 if I could. With the delivery we got free potato bombai and tandori chicken. Absolutely excellent nothing to complain about at all

The oldest established Indian restaurant in Bedford, est, 1981. Excellent food, tasty, well cooked and presented, no long wait for takeaways, generous portion sizes., Friendly, professional, courteous service and very very clean. I'd admit that perhaps it is not cutting edge in contemporary decor, but who cares when the overall experience and feeling is this good. There are a good number of Indian restaurants in this area, some of their chefs did their training at Magna. Magna also sponsor local youth sport and raise funds for environmental projects in the more deprived areas of the sub-continent, so an impressive wider community involvement here. Excellent restaurant, excellent staff, excellent food,, excellent experience. Very highly recommended. In this game, to last this long says it all! * * * * *

I've been going there since the 1980's and it used to be the best curry anywhere with a very friendly personal service. Since the owners retired and passed it on, the standards have fallen off a cliff. I gave them a long break and went back for one last try...no, still terrible so I'm never going back.

Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Menu is large and the food is good with portion sizes being quite generous. Good value for money, never been dissatisfied with this place.

Very good place. The staff are superb, very kind when explaining the dishes and offers available. The service is good and the food was good quality. It's also a plus that they open until late, we went for dinner at 10pm and there was no problem

The staff are great, very friendly and generous (free beer whilst waiting for my takeaway) and they threw in a couple of extra small dishes for free, so my hopes were high. Unfornantely, the curry just isn't that good. Really greasy and overcooked. It's a shame as the staff are really nice.

Booked this restaurant for a birthday treat for my partner, the food was very good and tasty, there are only two points I would mention, we had the vegetable curry side dish but all I could find was potatoes and two bits of carrot, it would be nice to have different veg in there, the other thing is the coffee, please get a perculator and use real milk rather than instant Maxwell House with milk powder, it really would make a huge difference as you can really taste the milk powder. Value for money on the 5 courses is brilliant but the drinks are a bit pricey. The staff are very polite and helpful. I will go back again, however, I won't be having the coffee. All in all a very nice meal and plenty to eat.

We had a work get together there last night and everyone was saying how good the food is, we were made very welcome and the service was first class, this place really is very good, I highly recommend it.

I have been going here since the year 2000 and have always found it excellent in food and service. If you are a vegetarian I can highly recommend the Magna. Speak personally to either Mabs or Mamun who run the place and they will make you food created around what you like to eat. In fact, off the menu dishes are often happily created for customers who don't fancy what's on the menu. There seems to be really mixed reviews on this place but my guests and I have only ever had a great time. I often organise large parties of friends and work colleagues to eat here and the same people year on year travel from Oxford, London , Rochdale, Lincoln, Wigan and Scotland to partake. I would emphasise it is VERY veggie friendly as well as catering for meat eaters which is great when catering for a large group.
