Magna Tandoori No 1 in Bedford

My favourite curry venue for over 50 years. Simply irreplaceable. It was the scene and setting for so many life events which were made, measured out and captured here. It's like losing an old friend. I wish you all well.

Veg curry was half filled for some reason!! Rice was lumpy. Chicken curry was literally so watery it had no taste. Just everything was bland and watered down?!?!

food came on time, nice and hot, The mixed grill was a little small for price, but was absolutely delicious with the perfect spicy level, and they even chucked in a free nan :D The garlic potato rice as a side was perfect too :D

Peshwari naan bread was coconut oil not coconut in side which made the bread very greasy, both breads we ordered were burnt. Normal tikka didn't taste much like tikka was more watery. Had better Indian from another takeaway but thought we'd try somewhere new.. not again

Food came early and delivery driver very polite but extremely disappointed with the meal. It was cold and had 0 flavour. Unfortunately I had to throw it away. Probably would not order from this restaurant again

Muhammad’s warm welcome & excellent food has been our favourite Indian restaurant for nearly 30yrs. Mike celebrated his 50th birthday last night with friends and the food and service was superb! Highly recommended - book in advance to get a table!👍

Food was pretty good overall, for this first time purchase from the restaurant. The Tikka fish was quite burned and dry, though, and it'd help if on the menu it states "mackerel" is used as I wouldn't have ordered it not being a fan of this fish myself. The delivery time was 1 hour earlier, not sure if this was by accident; by the time we were free to eat everything was cold.

Sad that the Nan breads were cold, the mains weren't hot enough eigher. Had probably done a few miles. We have used magna for ever but I think it's time to try somewhere else

Where to start, first time ordering from here, Firstly we were missing 3 items. We called restaurant they said they will not come back to deliver the missing items we had paid for. My friend ordered chicken tikka, I don’t know what that was they sent us but it was not chicken tikka. Onion bahjis were dripping in oil and tasteless. Waste of money will not order from here again.

I have eaten at magna before and the samosas where not as good as when you dine in , they look that they were made from wraps and then deep fried , madras was excellent so was the biriyani , the extra veg dishes were are nice surprise too,...

The food was not bad in general, a little more greasy than necessary, while the naan bread didn't taste like being freshly made, but I might be wrong on this. The texture was just... not quite right. There's room for improvement here, for sure.

Staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was adequate and very filling. I had the chicken korma which I recommend. Although it wasn't as creamy as I thought it would but it was lovely and satisfying. Although the music was questionable (with electronic dance remixes playing most of the night, which didn't compliment the ambiance of the restaurant) we all had a great evening. Would recommend to bring family or friends.

90 minutes late, and NO POPPADOMS ... we have been customers of the Magna for over 40 years ... such a disappointment this evening ... maybe its because we've used JustEat ... don't think we'll be doing that again ....also food lukewarm ... a long time in the delivery car ....

Order my food at 753pm and was supposed to arrive at 840pm but food arrived at 920pm missing items and the remaining items arrived at 1020 pm when the remainder of the food got cold. Had to call sevaral times and told my missing item is on its way several times.

I went out with four friends to celebrate my birthday and decided to pick Indian food for the night. I did not pick Magna by accident as I went there few times and same as before they did not disappoint. We had 2 lamb korai, one lamb jalfrezi and a chicken dish....wooww, food was just amazing, mix of flavours in korai was mind blowing, jalfrezi was exactly what you want to have in a hot and fiery lamb curry and peshwari nan bread to dial down the heat intensity. Stuff in the restaurant was making sure we had everything we need and they were very polite. I highly recommend this restaurant and they house special dishes, especially Lamb gosht (korai) served in cast iron dish that preserves all the flavours. This evening I ordered a takeaway and food again looks amazing!!! Thank you Magna for a great food and great evening!

We only called in for a take away, but we were treated to the most amazing hospitality, and complimentary poppadoms. We were so pleased with the food we called them to compliment them. The next time we went there we were welcomed like royalty, and the food is always just as good as the first time.

Had a meal here some time ago and was very nice, Also phoned for a delivery meal to Wilstead and was told that they do NOT delivery To MK45 area... Shame really and i think they should look at villages as apposed to just their local areas.

My husband found a piece of glass in his food. Little chicken in the chicken tikka masala.

We've tried most every Indian restaurant along Tavistock Street now, with Magna being the latest addition to our (mis)adventures; we were surprised with the very generous portion sizes and the extra sundries (rice with butter chicken, not something you see everywhere), I personally loved the paratha, and my girlfriend was really quite pleased with her chicken pasanda. Great value for money too, so we can heartily recommend Magna - definitely exceeded our expectations, we'll order again for sure.

Food was expected at 7:15 and turned up at 7:40, the delivery driver was very well presented and polite. I specified for a particular curry to be made mild and it wasn’t, one of the curry’s was open and had spilt slightly in the bag and the order of poppadoms was extremely disappointing. Overall, not a great experience and won’t be ordering again any time soon.

Would not order again as food was not great. King prawn madras was basically a few segments of king prawn floating in a brown spicy sauce soup. Not for me

I just ordered from this restaurant and I would happily say this is the worst Indian I have EVER had. The sauce was oily and cold the meat samosas were undercooked and they forgot half my order. If you really fancy being let down and disappointed this is your place!

Really lovely meal very tasty! requested it for 8 o'clock and came exactly on time at 8 o'clock, very friendly delivery driver and also received complimentary extras which was lovely. Would definitely order from here again :)

Chicken in the korma was gristle no popadoms but all the salad bits. Wasnt very nice at all was recommend by friends that say it's a nice restaurant but I carnt say I will order again in a hurry.

Food was amazing as always. But stone cold and I live on the same road as the takeaway. Literally a 4 minute walk. And the delivery driver parked across the road and wanted me to go walking across a main road to walk to his car and collect my takeaway. Which I was not impressed with

I ended up going to Deshi Spice instead, it's a few doors along. If this place achieves at least four out of five, I shall visit.

Magna is THE BEST Indian Restaurant in all of England. You can request that your food is spiced to your liking. They are reliable and deliver quickly. Whether you eat in or take away it is the best. Highly recommend.

We held a reunion for 12 of us who worked closely together at Texas Instruments in the early 90s. We were treated like long lost friends and had the most amazing range of dishes for our eclectic tastes. The Magna remains my favourite Bedford Indian restauant.

Very disappointed. We eat at this restaurant quite regularly and have always had a good experience. However, I placed a pre-order for delivery at 18:15pm. Food finally turned up at 18:55pm and was luke warm at best. Will most definitely NOT being using their delivery service again and am tempted to find another restaurant to eat in at, as I am so annoyed at them for letting us down.

I'm sure I ate here a few times about 10 years ago. Passing by, needed a meal, why not? I was the only diner - ok, terrible weather, can understand why people weren't out on a Sunday night. Service was doing well. Until they had to come back and apologize for having run out of Okra the night before so would I like something else? They hadn't just ran out, they clearly weren't busy, he should've known. (Or bought some more during the day.) My meal arrives. Indian vegetarian cooking can be beautiful - this was phoned in. And the saag paneer replacement was an absolute minimum effort. I'm sure my memory and standards might've shifted in the intervening years, but I'm equally sure they used to be better than this, both kitchen and front of house.

1st time order and food was late arriving. not hot when arrived and missing an item. Rang them and they sent it, but took nearly an hour to arrive so we had already eaten the other food. . won’t use again, very poor.

We’ve eaten in many Indian restaurants.. this was clearly one if the worse ever! Firstly, they tried to sit us by the toilet, which we declined as there were many other tables for 3 available. We ordered samosas to start with. 45 mins later, they arrived, thick hard cardboard texture with no flavour. Couldn’t eat them. The chicken passatta and butter chicken were fairly tasty, but mainly sauce; there were a few smallish pieces of chicken. The sides, aloo gobi and saag aloo, we’re both quite tasteless and grey looking, there were only tiny bits of cauliflower in the gobi. It’s annoying that the main curry dishes were priced with rice. I don’t eat rice so I asked for a naan instead. This was huge, tasteless and very doughy. But... the staff were really nice and friendly. Sorry, will definitely not be eating here again.

The Magna Tandoori is a hidden gem. If you want real quality traditional Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani food try this out.

Best curry I've ever had in my life! Chicken Tikka Masala was absolutely amazing, and we got free potato bombai and chicken tandoori. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. I'd rate it an 11/10 if I could!

we were not disappointed by this local inadian restaurant. The dishes are delicious and the price not expensive at all. The staff is very welcoming and nice. I would recommend this restaurant.

The Magna serves excellent, tasty food and in large portions (often with extra freebies when you order ahead!) - great value for money and service with a genuine smile. I haven’t bothered with any other Bangladeshi or Indian restaurants since first trying the food at the Magna. Thoroughly recommended!

We visited Magna with some American friends, the food and service was absolutely top notch. Manx was a fantastic host, we will definitely eat here again.
