Magic Wok in South Lakeland

Ordered a take away whilst on holiday with the family. This is the best chinese we’ve had in years. Great service and every dish different and delicious

Very poor, tasteless and we ended up throwing most of it away. Just not we expected. Truly disappointing especially as this was a Christmas Eve treat

Fabulous authentic food - all the family ordered and dishes were delicious. Chow mein was the best I’ve tasted - and other dishes were demolished! Lovely start to our week in Windermere.

This place is the best! Walked in greeted by a very smiling gentleman. Kindly said it was going to be a 30 min wait, that was fine by me, didn’t have very far to go. I usually think if it’s go a bit of a wait and is busy it means that it’s good local food. He knows the locals as well, all by name, applies to me by my names, made me feel like I wasn’t a number but a person! Service was great considering how busy they were, front attendant and kitchen people must have been superman! Working hard and it shows! Food was delicious and portion sizes were amazing for a cheap meal! Added in extra prawn crackers for free. Would 100% go back again! The whole experience was incredible and I would recommend anyone going to Windermere to go here!

We have regularly visited this amazing restaurant on many holidays, but then of course everything shut down for 2 years. I was back up in the area to stay with friends and they suggested a take away, as they’ve now become take away only. The food was as fantastic as ever and took us back to our previous visits. I just hope they will open as a restaurant again soon, as now and again it’s nice to eat out. Thanks guys

Had a takeaway last year from here and really enjoyed it, I had read the recent reviews and was a tad unsure but we ordered again and was not disappointed, lovely food, friendly service

Just what the doguey ordered, what a naughty little number. They sent us flying out the blocks with some sensational starters, me recommend the duck, then we met the mains and boy did they deliver. 4 out of 5 stars, or 8 out of 10. Woof

A simple takeout of soup starter and a main. The chicken and sweetcorn soup was inedible and was discarded. The main course was house special fried rice which was short on Char Sui, chicken and prawn but heavy on luncheon meat. Strangely this tinned pressed “meat” isn’t shown on their menu… I won’t be returning any time soon!

Delicious fresh food. Would recommend the sweet and sour chicken , salt and pepper chips and chicken and the best prawn toast I have tasted! We will definitely return here when in the area. 10/10 food

Really great food - lovely vegetarian food. Very friendly guy behind the counter - went back for another take away it was so good! Often takeaways in tourist towns don't worry about quality but this is great food- worth a visit! Wish they were local to me....

Restaurant not in use, so only take-away available. Had to order our meal 24 hours in advance. It was ready on time but was very disappointing food - quite bland and not what we expect from a Chinese meal. Not recommended.

As a takeaway The Magic Wok offers simply fantastic food reasonably priced. Recommend pre ordering as can be very busy. Our order was ready on time and the staff were very helpful. One of the best Chinese takeaway restaurants I've visited. well done

We discovered Magic Wok after reading the reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed! What a fabulous Chinese takeaway! The menu is vast and every dish that we had was superb! Fresh, hot and top quality! It was so good we got a takeaway from here twice during our stay. The owner is also so friendly and really added to the magic wok magic! We will definitely be back when we are next in the Lakes! Thank you so much ☺️

Not too bad! We enjoyed all the dishes we had and the food was of good quality and taste. Everyone liked their meals and I reckon we will go again before we leave! Worth a take away for sure.

I would vote zero if the option was available, worst Chinese ever experienced. We ordered king prawns in peking sauce and chicken schezwan, which appeared to be the same base sauce for both dishes. As we were both starving this wouldn’t have bothered us but...

Excellent!! Appeared quite busy but I was served quickly by a very polite gentleman who slightly tweaked my order with ease as it wasn’t on the menu quite as I’m used to. Food was delicious, very hot and in nice tight containers. Would definitely recommend.

Couldn't find anywhere COVID-safe to eat outside on Easter Sunday in Bowness and no takeaways were answering the phone - everywhere was rammed! Drove up the the road to Windermere, past huge queues outside a couple of restaurants, and found the Magic Wok. Super-helpful guy...

I appreciated the care to cook and pack the vegetarian dishes separately. Ordering by phone was easy and the food was on time, hot and very tasty. It was good quality and was very nice.

Had a takeaway. Chicken in BB sauce, chicken chow mein, mixed chow mein, salt pepper ribs. The food was excellent. The ribs were crispy and the chow mein were meaty and Joyce.

A small family business offering a take out service only because of Covid. Delicious king prawn dishes at a very reasonable price (£6 a dish). The guy was very helpful when we ordered on the phone and was patient in helping us choose the best options to fit our taste. I highly recommend it!

Visited the area during Covid-19, ordered the night before and collected as a takeaway at an agreed time. Very efficient as we didn't have to wait around for it to made and could pick it up when we wanted it. Tasty, high quality food for a takeaway, definitely would go back if in the area in the future.

That's got to be one of the worst Chinese takeaways I've ever had. 1 prawn crackers were ok2 salt and pepper ribs were well overcooked, with hardly any meat on them and very greasy.3 special curry was just a congealed mass. No real flavour for a curry4 fried rice was ok.Very disappointed cannot recommend it and wont be going again.

This is a nice restaurant/takeaway, the staff are welcoming and friendly, the food is lovely, me and my husband had the set meal for two, it was very tasty, would recommend a visit.

Visited at 6.15pm for a take away - sat and waited till 7.35pm, utterly ridiculous. Wouldn’t have minded had the food been as good as it used to be when I lived here...but alas not. Greasy, tasteless. Ribs fatty, poor quality. Goodness knows what on earth they were doing in the kitchen all that time, as the food certainly didn’t reflect their time spent on it. Won’t be back.

Really lovely food and service from a traditional style Chinese restaurant/takeaway. I had vegan tofu chow mein which was lovely followed by banana fritters (also vegan) Absolutely divine! Would highly recommend and we will be back again. Great value for money as well!

This wasn't the first visit we had made to this Chinese restaurant, but unfortunately it wasn't the best experience. The duck for the pancakes was certainly crispy, but it was also quite dry. As was the crispy beef in sauce. So crispy it was difficult to chew. It was a shame, as the service is always so good here.

My boyfriend and I were staying in Windermere and really fancied a Chinese meal after cooking for ourselves all week. Spotted a single review on here about gluten-free options so decided it was worth a shot to ask. Had to come back an hour after first visiting due to it being quite busy, but once we arrived service was quick and very friendly. I can't eat gluten so Chinese food is usually not an option for me or extremely limited, but every dish we requested was suitable for me and tasted fab. Impressed. Worth going to if you're in the area, whether you're gluten-intolerant or just after good food.

The Coronavirus had just hit UK and the place was empty except for some Chinese customers. If they liked there own countries food in their own restaurant then I always think that is the place to go, but the people of the area dont know what they are missing. We had a very enjoyable evening eating hot and flavorsome Chinese food. The service was quick and very friendly. We were asked where we came from and what we thought of the Lake District. The place should have been packed, judging by the food and the Chinese people.

The restaurant does not look anything special from the front. However, we sat in the rear of the restaurant and the food quality and portions could not be faulted. The staff member who served us could not do enough for us. I would definitely visit again.

My family and I love a Chinese so when visiting other areas of GB or even abroad we look for a decent take out/restaurant. On this occasion we ordered a take out and I have to say it was pretty blooming good, the only complaint I had was the cashew nut dish had quite a lot of garlic in it which was over powering although it’s not the first time I’ve had this from other take outs so I assume it’s just a preference thing. The chicken wings in Cantonese sauce were fab one of the best I’ve had and the fried rice was good. Satay is tasty but spicy so when the menu says hot it means it unlike some other places where they don’t know what spice is. All in all a fab meal, will try again if I’m in the area again.

came here after reading reviews on TripAdvisor , stayed along the road in Windemere and we fancied a Chinese , for main meals ordered and picked up about an hour later , all meals were hot and tasty and didn't disappoint , mixture of Chow mein and curry's , all were demolished quickly with no complaint on size or flavor , would deffo recommend

Possibly the best Chinese takeaway food my wife and I have had. From the excellent service to quality food, especially as I have an allergy to MSG which some Chinese places use. They even got our food ready half an hour earlier on the second night as we had been there the night before.

We holiday in The Lakes twice a year and always make a point of visiting this restaurant. The staff are really friendly and polite, the food is excellent and there is a good wine list too! It's great value for money and well worth a visit if you're in Windermere.

Visited on a Friday night, 30 minute wait, so had a quick drink in the grey wall pub ( really friendly place ) went back to the Magic Wok and we're immediately seated, food was excellent and great value really big portion sizes, service was very good and attentive, would highly recommend.

Visited 31st October despite some mixed reviews and have to say, we were really pleased we did. The service was first class as was the food, hot tasty, great value and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend! If your visiting Windermere looking for somewhere nice to eat but worried about some of the reviews for the Magic Wok, don’t be it was excellent!

This is an Excellent Chinese Restaurant and takeway. Food is delicious. Service top notch. I am a local resident and this is always my first choice for this type of food.

Great food, great service and friendly staff. We had the set menu for 2. All the dishes were well cooked and very tasty. The service was great, even though the restaurant was very busy. The staff were friendly and cheerful.

Called in on the off chance for a table for four. Had the set meal for four, great service, delicious food and good portions! Plenty for four people to eat! House wine (Pinot) decently priced and a good palate. Friendly staff and nice comfortable seating.

We stayed for a holiday nearby and this became our favourite place for food. Every dish we ordered was well received by all members of the family. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Much recommended delicious food.

A tiny gem. Don’t be put off by first impressions, this a lovely little Chinese restaurant. Really friendly staff and fast service. The food was totally delicious and nicely presented. Can’t recommend it enough.

Had a really lovely meal at Magic Wok - chose the 2 person banquet for £32 and it was excellent - food freshly cooked and wasn't salty like you find in some Chinese restaurants.

We didn't make a booking and we attempted to dine very late the day before but the gentleman behind the bar explained very few places are open for food beyond 10pm - understandable, we don't usually eat that late either. We tried again the following day at a much more conservative 7:30pm and were given a lovely table for two. We ordered lemon and honey chicken, roast duck with seasonal vegetables and egg fried rice. All three dishes were superb and we polished the lot off. Perhaps it would have been nice to have a couple of fortune cookies with the bill but not the be all and end all! We had a lovely time and we definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

Amazing service with a smile from everybody there!! Friendly to our dog outside even directed us to an alternative fast food to get a sausage for our dog!! Could not recommend enough!! Ps the salt an pepper ships are the bomb

Visited here at short notice. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Good value for money. Overall, enjoyed our visit and would certainly come back.
