Favourite Chinese place in Ilkeston. Delivery is sometimes very slow but definetly worth it.

Used to love ordering from here...now nearly two hours waiting for delivery. Appalling. Insincere "apology" recieved. Disgusted

Couldn't find the Banana in the very thick chewy batter until the last bite 😫. Worst I've had from anywhere ever. Very disappointed as the food is usually great.

This used to be my favourite takeaway. The food is still good, but the delivery time is awful. Currently still waiting 90mins after ordering when estimated time was 45mins-1hr. The phone line is constantly engaged so you can't even get a revised eta.This happened the last 2 times I ordered from them. The last time I ended up driving to the restaurant to try to collect after 2hrs. I won't be ordering from them again.

Ordered a takeaway from here, arrived late, and cold. Tried to ring but phone constantly engaged. Gave up and had toast for my dinner. Hungry and unhappy.

Ordered from here last night. The food was ok but it was the dishonestly I disliked the most. My partner gave you what she thought was 3 £10 pound notes and you quickly gave her £5 back knowing that she had given you was £40 instead of £30 and then you disappeared very quickly. She had just done a 14 hour shift at work so was tired and didn't realize she had given you £20 and 2 £10 notes. To be dishonest like that and rip your customers off of £11.10 is not only disgusting but given this current climate unforgivable. We opted to keep the local businesses afloat during this pandemic and what is the point when some think its ok to rip you off? Had you been honest and said you have given me over £10 to much you would have kept our custom and we would have been regular customers of yours. So inevitably you have done yourself a disservice because you have cost yourself regular customers. Our order was £25.10. We had also given you a tip and paid for delivery and you still ripped us off. Shocking service, shame on you.

We’ve ordered food from here for several years and never had problems until tonight! We paid the driver and then found a part of the order was missing. Fortunately we caught the driver and he couldn’t find the missing item. When I phoned they said sorry they would send it later. This was not good enough as we wanted a complete hot meal! It was totally their fault and they didn’t want to right it properly by providing us with the complete meal we had ordered. They said they couldn’t redo the meal and send it complete later and could only reimburse or send the individual item later. It was only 3 items and they couldn’t get it right. Poor, poor show. Not a way to run a business.

The food was beautiful and we couldn't fault it, however we called in in person and the wait was absolutely awful. We only ordered two chow mein dishes, spring roll and a bag of chips and we had to wait 40 minutes. They were too busy getting phone orders and not leaving time for people walking in. We would definitely not call it a quick take away and would definitely think twice before going again.

Had years of good service from the Magic Wok and over the last year things have changed since they have take online orders.... Omelette dish comes with chips but yet they seem to forget this and not just once. Rang up tonight to ask where the chips were and spoke to a rather rude women. No apologises but said she could get them out in 20 minutes which would have been pointless... Then said she would add them onto my next order... Before I could said I wouldn't be ordering again the phone went dead.... Next again will I order from here; mainly because of there customer service!!!!! Buyer beware if all I'm saying.... PS only got one star as I had no choice!

Inedible. Bland rice, watery sauces. Worst Chinese I've ever had.

Ordered a certain dish and stated that if they dont make it then would have a replacement dish, they called to say it would be 40p more, fair enough. Food took ages to arrive and the delivery driver said i had to pay 40p more, again fair enough. Serving up, no chips, no sweet sour sauce as ordered but remembered to charge the extra money. Phoned up and they sent the missing items but ruined the meal. Everything tasted like bbq? Never again.

Magic Wok delivery and service is a joke. Last night we ordered a £17.00 take away meal around 6 o'clock and they said it would be an hour, which is fair enough. Hour and a half later we ring up only to be told they are short of drivers, but the food is ready and we can collect it if we want with a 20% discount. Why would we order delivery service in the first place if we were going to collect it??? Then we are told the driver left 10 minutes ago (we are a 2 minute drive away). Half an hour later the driver turns up. This is now two hours after we ordered the food, which means its been stood for at least half an hour. The wife told the driver we either get the food for nothing or he can take it back. The driver had a couldn't care less attitude, shrugged his shoulders turned round and took the food back. So the Magic Wok not only missed out on £17.00, they have also lost a customer and we wont be using them or recommending them to anyone again.

It's the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Tried others only out of curiosity, Magic Wok beats them all. And you always get a text when they have special deals on, bonus!

Great grub ... never had a bad meal here. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the Chinese that had the rat droppings in it like someone within this comment section has suggested ... DO NOT confuse this Chinese with that one which is further down the road!

Wrong orders and Sweet and sour sauce as been forgotten about 6 times, other than that the chinease is good tasting

The food we lovely and delivered by a very polite young man. The only downside was we were one meal missing the second time this has happened. The order was repeated back to us so it should be so simple to do as we did and count the dishes as they are put into a box.

Just had a chow mein from here and had to 'drain' it from the oil that had been used. I got 3 + tablespoons off. Also had hot and sour soup which had heat but no flavour, crunchy veg but no meat. Portion sizes changed too. 11/2 mushrooms cut into quarters per portion. Ha. Ha.

Never had a bad meal here. We always collect cos delivery is always busy, but food is always hot and tasty.

Out of 100 89 % to 91% good hot food delivery friendly service well cooked tasty well packaged didnt have to wait long The manager was well spoken with derbyshire accent happy sort well presented . I would use it again .

Ordered a takeaway delivery and arrived quickly. Spare ribs were great, nice to have smaller versions of these so a tasty little mouthful. Shredded chilli beef good, chinese vegetables good and pork chow mien absolutely fine. Good value. All in all it offered what was required for the price and a takeaway so no points/stars dropped.

The food is always fantastic here. The staff are super friendly and delivery is usually really quick. Definitely recommend !!

This Chinese has consistently been the best for us for several years of living in Ilkeston. The quality is always excellent and food is super fresh and hot, delivery is also quick even at busy times. Keep up the good work :-)

Food was 20 minutes late, was food missing from the order, and food arrived cold and when rung up to complain they said they would rewarm the food. This is the third time had problems and will not be using them again absolutely shocking service

Multiple wrong orders and late deliveries, we've even had orders here cancelled completely without notice. Food is nice but service is bad, if you're eating here collect and check your order.

Ambos tuvimos un gran rollo de tortitas, pollo en salsa de chili szechuan entre nosotros, especial arroz frito y una porción de soja. Todos sabían casera, no congeladas o comida de paquetes. Lamentablemente no pude comer el pollo, ya que tenía unas cuantas guindillas frescas en tan mi marido comió todo - sólo tenía extra de arroz. Sin duda nos alojaremos de nuevo allí. ¿Por qué no tenemos una buena comida para llevar china como esta en Ripley, ME PREGUNTO?

Ordered our usual food, on a Friday night. But got sweet n sour sauce not curry sauce, rang up. Curry sauce delivered literally within minutes. Great service!!

La comida era muy buena, el personal es muy agradable y servicio rápido. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Había un montón de comida desde aquí y seguiremos haciéndolo.

The food arrived cold, they refused a refund unless I took the cold food in. They continued to refuse a refund when we arrived. They had the most rude delivery drivers I have ever met shouting comments across the room when we were in the takeaway. The owners where literally shouting at us from across the counter while we did not raise our voices once. There were also jokes made about spitting in any further food made for us, hence we did not want replacement food and just a refund. I'm just extremely disappointed and would highly recommend you don't go there. That is as honest as I can be.

I've had a couple of orders from this Chinese take out before when the one I usually use had been closed for refurbishment. The food was of very good standard, always hot and well cooked and never kept waiting for long. Staff have always been friendly and polite too and the food is well priced amongst it's competitors.

I recommend their crispy beef Peking style in a sticky syrupy sauce, best we've ever had? Have tried others in the area, but keep going back to them.Always order through 'just' website with prompt delivery.

A very nice, very very nice duck, couldn't see any magic woks though, would definitely take my flying carpet there again again.

Food is OK no problems with the exception of they always try to charge more for delivery than they should for miles traveled which annoys. Watch the delivery drivers as there is one particular one that tries to charge more what the ticket says so beware !

Possibly the best Chinese I've had in Nottingham... KUDOS! Recommend the beef in schezuan chilli sauce. Nom!
