A great locals spot. Always love to eat here when in Belfast. Staff are so great and food is good.

We went there for breakfast twice on my visit to Belfast. Would recommend the breakfast bap and the full Irish breakfast.

The service can be a bit slow, awaiting to be seated and the food, but the staff are friendly and the food is lovely

The scramble fry is lovely and the biscoff milkshake was great too. Big portions

i go to maggie mays botanic regularly it's a great place foods always 10/10 and the service is just as good lovely servers who even if they're in a rush are very attentive and brilliant atmosphere plus love the music!💯

Brilliant service by a lady with dark hair and tattoos, presumably a supervisor. She was very attentive to all of our needs, and was able to help me find a delicious gluten free option on the menu, which is surprisingly hard done usually! She was able to talk me through what foods would or would not be suitable for me, depending on my level of gluten intolerance. I had dirty fries and 7up, which was £10 per person with a value deal on. I will definitely be back :) amaz experience

Maggie mays Belfast cafe was a great way to end our visit to Belfast after visiting the botanic gardens and Ulster Museum which are conveniently across the street from the cafe, we ate all vegan when we where there and everything was delicious! My personal favourite was the Oreo milkshake and bbq burger 😋😋 !! And I can’t forget to mention they had their very on SEAN PAUL ( not the Jamaican singer ) who is a Dj for a radio station and the playlist he created for the cafe was FIRE 🔥 classics hits…. We will definitely be coming back for more when we are in Belfast the next visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good food at good value. Especially if you are Vegan! No disappointments!!!!

Went for something to eat & had a great meal. Staff were really nice & checking in to see how it was and if I needed anything else. Wasn't super busy when I went so I got a table immediately. Food was really good & I'll definitely be back again.

Great meal, great value in a great wee restaurant on Botanic. Highly recommend. BYO also which is fantastic.

Cheap. Seats on very narrow benches. Unkind attention. The best without a doubt the prices.

Food and service both excellent. A great spot for breakfast, lunch or just call in for a coffee.

The food was quite tasty, and the portions were very large. However, unfortunately, we had to ask four times for maple syrup before someone finally brought it, and by then, the food had already gone cold. The staff was friendly.

Great feed and even better service. I had avocado with poach wed. Hard to beat.

Such a lovely wee place . Popped in just for a light bite mum and I shared battered mushrooms and battered goujons. Tbh they where the nicest I've ever tasted and loads . Well worth a visit . Delicious looking cakes etc and main meals looked good . Deff will be back x

Lovely meal well worth the money

Maggie Mays used to be a good spot for food. My pregnant wife, toddler and myself went for lunch yesterday to treat my toddler after getting her injections. From the minute we arrived it went downhill. The server seated us and went to get menus and didn't return. After 10 minutes I went up and got them myself. We then ordered and waited 40 minutes without even our drinks and watched as people walked in and got their food. I eventually asked the server what is happening and he said it is very busy but our food is coming. The whole restaurant had turned over and the new people coming in were getting food and after 1 hour and 20 minutes we decided to leave and a different server told us the other guy hadn't even put our food order through. I then had to take my very hungry toddler and pregnant wife home and make something quickly for them. Not quite the treat I was hoping for my child!! I used to go here quite often but the constant lying of one of the servers blaming it on being busy when he hadn't put our order through is too much!!

Five mins walk from Botanic Train Station, Maggie Mays is perfectly placed. Established over 20yrs on this site, very popular with students missing home cooking. Large list of menu options and something for everyone young and old. Friendly service, not expensive. Definitely check in out if iure in the area.

Staff are always so nice and very helpful. Food is good, we always go back here.

Had pancakes here today , was very disappointed as they were shop bought and not made by the chef. The waitress showed me to a table which was dirty and even the chairs had food spilled on them . The place was whole place was in need of a good clean and the waitress was untidy and had food spills on her clothes back and front, she was wearing a sort of thin material pink tracksuit. First time to eat here and diffently the last. Very disappointing 😞

Everytime I'm over from Scotland I have as many meals here as possible the stovies are so good and filling especially on a cold day internal heating lerge portions at a fair price

Loved it here. The coffee and breakfasts were delicious and pretty cheap for the portion size. The only downside was that it was cash only - but this was communicated at the start and there’s an ATM across the street so it was no bother.

I had been here before and thought it would be a good place to try for a good Sunday lunch dinner. Over all it wasn't too bad but it had said the dessert would be hot custard and it was stone cold with raspberry and coconut cake and my sons dessert was so small it definitely was Over priced, it was such a small piece of cheese cake. We where disappointed that it wasn't as good as last time we visited.

Party of 4 on a busy Sunday lunchtime. We got seated straight away. One of us is a very fussy vegetarian who was delighted to see a separate veggie menu. Food was delicious. The Maine lemonade brought back happy memories. We will be back - Veggie wants to work their way through the rest of the menu! Excellent service as well.

Food & staff excellent. Only thing is that you have to have cash to pay .... But there is a cash machine a short walk away.

Came back home to Belfast and first port of call for breakfast was Maggie Mays botanic feels like never left service with a smile and banter too boot grub lovely ladies are the best worth a shout ever round this way ohh they do evenings too

The only place we could find the full Irish breakfast that was gluten free, or mostly. Everywhere else across the country does the black and white pudding with wheat... Even though you can buy it gluten free in the grocery.

I often eat in Maggie Mays Botanic and find it excellent. Sadly my experience this morning at Maggie Mays Malone Road was awful. Waitress rude. Dumped the plate loudly , the food was horrible. Never again.

Stellar value for money! The ambience and service was nice, typical for a good brunch cafe. But the attention paid to the food was exceptional, every single thing on our two plates was cooked to perfection.

William our taxi driver recommended maggie mays. Wow the food was lovely. It was so nice we went back the next day too. I had bacon, pancakes and maple syrup. Lovely. The next day I went for a breakfast in a wrap. It was so nice. The coffee is really good too. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Great place to eat. Prices are really reasonable. The gardens are immense and the greenhouse area is impressive, it is recommended to visit

Popped in on a late Saturday afternoon after parkrun. We were seated and served pretty quickly, staff all seemed friendly. I had the Irish breakfast, my wife the Ulster Fry. Happy with both, filled us up for the day.

I have been going to Maggie May's Botanic avenue for years. But I had the worst chicken curry and chips that you could possibly eat. It was made up of raw onions and uncooked mushrooms sliced cold chicken. So someone put curry sauce on raw ingredients. It was totally disgusting. I paid for it and told them how I couldn't eat it to an indifferent member if staff. The worst cafe to eat in town. It used to be good but isn't anymore. Very sad to see this .

Food was very dry and over cooked

Well this was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for a coffee shop and peered into Maggie Mays when a little old man sitting outside told us to go on in ''foods good' he said 😁. We only wanted coffee we replied, to which he retorted that the coffee was good too! The décor was a little basic but the warmth of the welcome was anything but!!! Very friendly and enticing staff. With lots of fabulous Belfast humour 😍. We ended up getting a Baillie's alco-shake, a pot of tea and a plate of chips 👍 Seating was a little basic but we would definitely go back and enjoy a bit of craic ( and some more chips 👍 )

Good scrambled egg. Slow to get a table and they only take cash.

Busy cafe near the museum. We popped in for lunch and were really disappointed in the soup. There were two choices of soup, the first was overloaded with pepper and the second was closer to the consistency of mash potato. On a positive note the wheaten bread was good.

I never post reviews but here I am not happy! I ordered a Titanic Burger which arrived without lettuce, tomatoes and fried onions, basically not the right Burger! She brings me a plate with the missing raw ingredients to put in my Burger myself and still no fried onions! I ask for a gesture once it's time to pay the bill, she says okay but makes me pay the base price! I had to insist on getting their gesture back in cash: £1! Abused!

We visited from London last month, the young waitress was great at catering to our allergens and very knowledgeable. Food and atmosphere was so good we came here three days in a row for breakfast. Can't wait til we come back! The veg rolls on the fryup were amazing

Very busy little cafe. Plenty of options and very good vegetarian options. Good value and portions are generous and tasty. I can understand why this is so busy. although the food took a long while to come but overall recommended.

Coffee break on the edge of the city center. Unfortunately, service was quite slow and chopsticks instead of spoons, even though they were there.

Asked for a chicken burger on its own with a cold drink food arrived after 25 minutes (with chips) I didn't order the waitress said chiips are free! If chips are free how came a chicken burger and a can of coke came to £11.15 if its a complete meal you should tell the customers Complete rip for a ( hard ) chicken burger that had more batter than chicken zero stars

staff were really friendly, food was amazing and the portions were huge we couldn’t finish even though it was so good 😭 the prices were decent especially for the amount of food you get. the menu has a lot of great options, separate vegan and veggie menu also! highly recommend the taco chips

If you're on Botanical Avenue, you have to come in here. The food is great no matter what time of day. You don't often find such a nice café! So absolutely recommended. We stayed at Jennifer's on Rugby Road via AirBnB and have been here 3 times. It felt great every time - everyone is welcome. Just beautiful!

Visited here on a Friday afternoon. It wasn’t busy, maybe 3 tables occupied. It was cold, all the windows open. I ordered the chicken stacks with chips, onion rings & pepper sauce. My daughter ordered chicken goujons. After waiting half an hour I managed to interrupt the waitress with the long orange hair in her conversation with a friend to ask if our food would be ready soon. The service bell had rang three times while she was gabbing. She cut me off before I even finished my question, mumbled something about how someone else brings the food & walked away. Finally the food arrived. Tiny portions! I got a handful of chip ends, chicken, lumpy dace & soggy (obviously frozen) onion rings. My daughter’s portion was also tiny. No side salad or garnish on either dish. No-one asked if our meal was any & 2 of the waitresses went off duty before the meal arrived, leaving only the orange haired girl. At one point a man who I assume is connected to the cafe walked behind the counter. He was filthy & had a huge hole in the back of his jogging shorts. Very off putting. We won’t be back, £27 for a poor, inadequate meal with bad service.

I have been going to Maggie May's for years and years. It's not a fancy cafe but they serve good home cooked food. It used to be one of the best (and biggest!) frys in Belfast. However of late quality and size of food has changed. I had a few very bad deliveries and wouls only eat in now. I was there today and the veggie fry was nearly half the size it used to be and it's now £9.50. Quality of produce not as good as previous either. Everywhere has got expensive so if you are on botanic it still probably has the best breakfasts, chips and milkshakes, stew etc. They have a separate veggie and vegan menu. It's a big menu and I'd probably steer clear of anything too unusual but for the most part it's good food. It is not wheelchair accessible. There is only one small toilet at the back with no changing facilities.

Fantastic foods with lovely staff. Had Irish breakfast and Omlet. Food was amazing 🤩. Highly recommended.

Nice food, the service a bit slow, though. Please, pay more attention to the customers. We had to ask for the bill 2 times and finally, we went to pay at the desk after 15 min. Also, you can’t leave one customer without food for 30 min… Food is delicious, portions are really good!

The place was cute with a decent atmosphere. It was a little small, but this added warmth to the place. Among the dishes, we ordered avocado toast and sweet bean toast. Both were average. Early gray tea was relatively tasteless. The waiters were polite and friendly from greeting to the end. We paid 18 pounds for 2 meals and 1 tea. Although the price was not very good in terms of performance, it was satisfactory.

Have visited this cafe before and usually very friendly staff even when very busy! Today we experienced worst service I've ever had. Very rude lady who seemed annoyed when asked for variation in order, order was slow to come and not correct. Nice food, good menu but this lady spoiled our experience so wont be back!

Crazy no card payment in 2024, food was OK but service took a long time

Every time I come here I am reminded of why I do not like this place. The food is subpar, often served lukewarm, and the staff or sometimes just downright rude. Lovely location and setting, let down by a bad atmosphere and poor food quality.

Good food and quick service. Milk shakes and all day breakfast are particularly good. Only negatives are booths can be restricted for those of us on the larger side.
