Madras Cottage in South Lanarkshire

Don’t believe them when they say you order will be ready in 15 minutes!!!! We went to pick ours up we were told 2 mins, reality was another 10! When we told them to cancel they called us giving us some grief. Think twice.

Seeing as this is just about the only takeaway in Blantyre on TripAdvisor which may ultimately lead to me creating a local review platform called ‘Scrantyre’, I’ll keep this brief. ‘Meal deal 2’ consisted of a large donner kebab, a box of chips and a can of Vimto which was so hot I’m sure it was done in the fryer as well. The kebab did not come with salad and sauce as you’d usually expect and I’m sure Hannibal Lecter has prepared more edible meat dishes. Meanwhile, the chips were so cold I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d been delivered to me from the Indian city of Madras as opposed to Madras Cottage down the road. This was a ‘Just Eat’ order. My advice to you would be to ‘just eat’ somewhere else.

We ordered online tonight for collection as we regularly do almost monthly. Male staff member phoned me to tell me that our food was ready. I said that my husband was on his way so should only be a few minutes. The staff member then responded "oh you don't need a husband, I can give you it" followed by laughter. I was genuinely in shock of what I heard so said excuse me to which he again replied "you don't need a husband". I then told him how disgusting and creepy he was being and advised that we did not want the food anymore and would not be returning to their store due to this creepy attitude to customers. He then tried to make up some nonsense excuse that he thought I was a different lady.... Absolutely disgusting - if you cannot be respectful to ALL customers (female and male) then you do not deserve a business. We will never ever return.

Didn't look at the reviews,before I ordered . Understand now . Kebab meat not the nicest . And definetly reheated . Sorry but for 15.00 not the greatest . And definetly will not order again . Will not say what my partner said about it .

Only bought food here once was not impressed. tasted like reheated food.I also wont shop here due to the fact that the owner/staff park daily in the sheltered housing complex near the shop. The area is for residents who are disabled and RELY on having space for cars to pick them up /park etc. But sadly the staff dont care in fact they were extremely rude when challenged on this and continue to park there. Shame on you !! Also the food rating states "needs to be improved" .

Great menu variety which has never disappointed once. Friendly fast service and value for money. Keep it up boys! We'll keep coming back.

Service great food good the only thing about it is trying to get a parking space as we call in for our carry out and go and collect it.the place is very clean I use this carry out Indians all the time

Poor service. Poor food. Their Thursday pizza half price deal is a con. Was promised a call back within 24 hours from the owner...never happened!

Great food in here , not had a takeaway just walked in and got a pizza , was lovely and the staff are great ,they have a laugh with you not like some other places that's just want you out the door

Had a some a couple of delivery so from it 1 was a munchies box but chips looked like a reheat and the rest of it wasn't up to much.and my next delivery was OK. But went into shop and ordered a spicy lamb pizza and it was good.so maybe there takeaway service gets busy and food gets rushed out

Wont be back. Ordered three times but only once did i get the full order correct. This time got a munchy box & paid £3 extra for all chicken pakora turns out i paid £3 for 5 pieces of pakora!!!. Was charged £2.50 for 2litre bottle of coke but got a smaller bottle than that & had part of my order missing. Obviously not paying attention so wont be ordering again. Food ok nothing to write home about, chips always greasy.

Use this takeaway all the time. Don't think i have ever had a bad meal. Good quality ingredients & would defo recommend their lamb dishes

Thought I'd give this place a go- my mistake! Chicken tikka was hard and rubbery. Pizza was ok

Ask for no mushrooms with my order and when I received my dish it had mushrooms through it, also my pizza was all stuck to the top of the pizza box, not the best of deliveries.

40 minutes late. The meal was awful. supposed to be a tikka masala. tasted nothing like it. naan was crispy and burnt. never again!!!

The Chicken Tikka Calzone was absolutely fine but the Shahlik Kebab was terrible. The lamb was tough and you couldn't chew it - totally disappointed. The majority of the meal went into the bin - total waste of money!

Kebab meat was cold yet delivery was quick so question why this could happen?

Mouthwatering. The chicken was perfect. Delivery took a while, but it was so fresh that it was well worth the wait.

Pakora had no taste and curry lacked its usual kick

Delivery took an hour and a half, hardly any chicken and it certainly wasn't tikka. Very very greasy, terrible food. Avoid at all costs. Most of the 5 star ratings must be fraudulent.

Burgers and popcorn were lovely the chips were disgusting and went in the bin

Delivery time was very slow it took 10 mins later than expected and 1hr 5 mins overall to arrive one if the dishes in particular was stone cold and had to be reheated in microwave very disappointing!!!

The Family Choice deal is excellent value for money. The food tasted absolutely amazing and the wait for delivery was shorter than expected! Could not be happier, thank you very much :)!

Food is usually always great but was a bit disappointed with the peshwari nan this time. It was so thin and overdone in bits that one side just crumbled off also there were patches of it that tasted really salty. Hopefully this was a one off as i always enjoy my meals grom here.

Loved what we got for the cosy tasted good and loads of food. Delivery was later than requested but quantity made up for that.

I made an extra special request with my meal and it arrived exactly how I asked, most places won't apply my request but Madras Cottage did and I am very great full and will keep using this place because of it. Price is fair aswell cannot complain and delivery has always been prompt highly recommend this take away........ keep up the good work guys..

Good food as usual but never stick to delivery time. Ordered it so it would be arriving just after partner got back arrived way too early, definitely ordered it for 7.40 but arrived an hour early therefore ruining his dinner.

Got the set meal for 2 at £16.95, a chicken bhuna and a chicken Karachi, poppadums, onions, veg pakora, nan and a fried rice. Fantastic value, generous potions and such tasty curries...it's our new favourite takeaway, have ordered a few times from them now and it always arrives quickly and piping hot. Highly recommend.

This was the worst meal I have ever had chicken was pink inside took over 2 hour for delivery and food was cold and when complained about my issues I was told to put food in microwave totally disappointed and s total waste of £40

Really disappointed this was the 5th time part of my food was missed and by the time it is resolved the rest of the food is cold or finished no type of apology offered
