One of my 'go to' places for years and we were very underwhelmed. It'susually packed (especially on a Saturday night) and has a great vibe but there was no atmosphere. The menu wasn't great and the food was bland overall. Waiting staff mixed up drinks orders (there were only 3 of us) and one of the main courses. We won't be rushing back.

What a disappointment. Walked in and after we got seated member of staff went to sit down not to far away and continued to complain on a phone about other staff/her workplace to someone that we obviously interrupted when we walked in. There is like 5/6 things on a menu. Prices are ridiculous for what you get. Food was meh. Ruined my husband birthday dinner as we walked out disappointed and ready to get takeaway as I'm pretty sure your local takeaway would have nicer food than what we got. 2 mains and 1 watered down "coctail" end up being £50. Depressing atmosphere, no music and 3 tables in all the restaurant, one of the most awkward and rushed(wanted just to leave asap) dinner we ever had.

As a group of 8 we had to pre-order but still waited over an hour for our meals at 6pm. When they did arrive they were so disappointing-dry, over-cooked, lukewarm…. could see into the kitchen and half of them had been under lamps for half an hour. The desserts weren’t any better-runny tiramisu & miniscule portion of cheesecake. Staff were disorganised and disinterested! When queried they took off the £24 service charge off the bill-the very least they could do. We won’t return! Sad, because loved it in the past, along with the quirky decor which has all gone too!!

Went for a meal on Friday night with 4 others. Front of house staff were friendly and busy. Food was very average, but we had known that would likely be the case based on other Tripadvisor reviews. However what we were most disappointed in was how an issue we raised was felt with. Two of us had the Chicken Maryland. Neither was particularly warm so when staff asked how our meal was we did point that out. They immediately lifted our plates and said they would sort it out. Very quickly the meals were returned to us. They had simply been reheated and returned. (as it was so quick I had thought they had been heated in the microwave). We are not convinced that the meals were returned to the correct person so we were not keen to finish a half eaten corn on the cob started by the other person. The next day I raised this with management. Explained the issue, the response not helpful. Said they don't microwave food and would check CCTV and speak to staff and then get back to me. I'm still waiting for a response which seems usual from other negative reviews on TA. Overall very disappointing and won't return.

My husband & I called in to Made in Belfast today (Sunday 1st May 2022) at around 3pm. We didn’t have a reservation but were lucky enough to get a table. Husband had chowder & I had Sticky Honey Sriracha Cauliflower ‘Wings’ Chowder -which was served with 2 toasted pieces of sourdough bread- was packed full of fish, was creamy, and totally flavoursome. Cauliflower wings was a meal in itself. They were spicy, sticky, crunchy,& absolutely delicious. Husbands beef burger looked great… Well cooked burger with bacon, cheese, tomato & lettuce in a brioche bun.. it was topped with some kind of relish ( looked like piccalilli ? ) I had the traditional Sunday roast beef dinner which had two massive slices of silverside, a huge Yorkshire pudding, mash & roast potatoes, etc etc… everything was SUPER tasty. Everything was served very speedily & was piping hot. I had loads of meat left over which I was able to take home wrapped in tinfoil. Staff were very efficient & friendly. Selection of beers & wines were quite limited ( no New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc 😱) Toilets were a bit tired. We last ate in MIB pre-covid but after todays experience, we plan to go back again soon.

I live in Manchester but was on a trip back to Belfast to see family and friends. Firstly I feel awful for choosing Made in Belfast for the get together of 11 of us, it used to be one of my favourite Belfast restaurants but it was truly awful. Secondly, when my friend arrived in to the restaurant from a rainy cathedral quarter with umbrella in her hand the bespectacled male manager at the front desk claimed “you could at least tell me if you are going to soak my floor” and marched off to get a mop. When asked what he meant he told her she had soaked his floor with her umbrella (she has walked from the corner of st Anne’s square to the front door in drizzly rain). Now, we all know it rains often in Belfast, but how it was a customers fault for the floor having a few drops of water is beyond me. She told him he had made her feel very unwelcome and his response was a shrug!! We asked the server for the manager’s name but she wouldn’t provide it. Now let’s get on to the food. I chose the chicken Maryland expecting the delicious dish of my childhood, but what I got was dry and inedible. My husband had fish and triple cooked chips that we couldn’t eat as her claimed they were as hard as rock and seemed to have been cooked at least 10 times. We both had the creme brûlée cheesecake for dessert, an extremely small portion and also tasteless. What’s happened to you Made in Belfast? The food was awful and service did not live up to the Northern Irish level of hospitality that I love to tell my English friends about. I’ll never be back and I’m gutted Belfast has lost one if it’s gems of a restaurant. Take my advice and avoid.

A big disappointment given how great this place once was. This used to be a go to place when friends were in belfast to visit. The service was once excellent and the food was affordable yet delicious. Something seems to have changed since the pandemic with food standards plummeting and staff being moody at best. I’ve been twice since restaurants reopened and believing the terrible standards to have been down to them having a bad day the first time, I returned again recently hoping for better. Unfortunately it was once again disappointing, with reasonably good starters but tasteless and dried out meats in our main courses. Before I had even arrived the server had had a dispute with one of my friends which they later came over to our table to apologise for, but the damage was done at that point. Overall not a great experience.

Rude staff. Not very welcoming. Tried to tell us to leave our table, although we had booked online allowing a two hour slot. So many people turned away at the door, although the restaurant was almost empty. Food ok. I gave cash for the bill. They didn't bring my change back. So, they actually did themselves out of an extra tip ( which would have been given just out of politeness).

As someone who previously had good experiences with made in belfast, our recent meal here on Sunday changed everything. Ordered a vegetarian pasta and had eaten most of it, only to discover afterwards it had prawns in it! It is stated on the menu as vegeterian meal. Imagine if you had a fish allergy (which I myself thankfully don't, but I am sure people do) how awful this would be? The staff didn't seem too bothered when we informed them and they just deducted the price off the bill for the prawns and some sort of sorry! Sadly I don't plan on returning and we were all shocked this happened. Be careful if you are a vegetarian or have allergies.

Fabulous little place, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The banana lights in particular are just amazing! Food was delicious. There were four of us and we all ordered differently, and were all extremely happy. I really enjoyed the hot cauliflower wings, banging! I ordered a side of 'Millionaires Fries', out of curiosity and they are so morish, but a little under seasoned. I had the most unusual dessert of Yorkshire pudding filled with horseradish cream and served with salted caramel sauce and nuts. I'm sat here four days later still trying to decide if I loved or hated it, but we're still talking about it so that can only be a good thing The only let down for me was the coffee, but I'm a real fuss pot when it comes to coffee. The service was friendly and efficient, and we will certainly be back on our next visit to Belfast.

Firstly the drinks order was incomplete. This would have been overlooked if the food had been good. The restaurant was quiet yet our food took ages to arrive. The special was a piece of fish floating in what could only be described as dirty dish water. My son-in-law had ordered the chicken burger but overcooked cardboard chicken Maryland on some sort of sugary banana sauce arrived. When the surly floor manager was told the meal was incorrect this was shrugged off but worst was to come. On leaving when asked if everything was ok and I said no, the rude floor Manager replied ‘well sh*t happens doesn’t it’. Customer service at its best!!! A very disappointing experience.

Getting one star because I can’t give it any lower. Visited on recommendation of bar man in nearby hotel I have to say that it was one of the worst meals we have ever had. Only one of the five plates was reasonable. And that was the chicken wings. The burger was cremated. No taste. Like chewing sawdust. Came with an bun coated in sugary icing. Found out later that that was what a Luther burger is. But that does not excuse the tasteless burger. Chips that came with it were over salted. And I like salty chips. The fish on the fish and chips plate was like a rock. Massively overcooked. The chicken Maryland was dry and like straw. And the spring rolls were not good. Overall between 4 people not one of us got anything edible. Serving staff were pleasant but the man at the desk -I assume the duty manager was surly. Would recommend staying away unless it improves massively

Went on Friday night with 6 friends. Restaurant about half full. Our drinks arrived and then food order was taken. Our server informed my friend who ordered 2 ‘wee bites’ that the flavours of her options dont go together, I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion but she was suggesting my friend change her order. When my friend didnt change her order The server then informed us that one of the dishes she ordered was so small she would be better getting the bigger one or else she would be starving. My friend said repeatedly that she didnt want the bigger dish but it didnt seem to be an option so she gave in. Then the server returned a few minutes later to inform us that there was also sides with the bigger dish. Again my friend said that it would be too much food and wanted to revert back to the ‘wee’ dish but was told that she could just pay for the bigger dish and not take the side. I dont understand why having the bigger dish was so important to the server. The food itself was ok but we did wait the guts of an hour which was surprising because by the stage we ordered the restaurant had pretty much emptied bar 3 other tables who were already eating. In a pretty much empty restaurant we had to ask for water for the table 4 times before someone actually got it for us. There was at no point during the meal did any one come to ask us if we wanted to order more drinks or if the meal was good.Again I would understand this if the restaurant was full but would like to reiterate 3 other tables had people at them. Our original server never came near us again and a new person appeared. They were pleasant enough but kept injecting themselves into the conversation where no harm, it was not welcome. I am all for chatting with people and being polite but when they were listening to what we were talking about and then quizzing us on it it was very off putting. And finally the service charge, I always tip but was unhappy about it when we received service like that. £22 service charge was included on the bill which I was annoyed about. I wanted to ask for them to take it off but my friends didn’t want to make a scene so out of respect for them I didnt. However in a now empty restaurant I dont know how big the scene would have been. All in all the service was very poor, the food was way over priced for what it was. Friday night was my first night in Made in Belfast and most definitely will be my last.

Arrived early and was seated very quickly. Ordered Luther burger. It was unusual with a glazed donought type bap, but the flavour seemed to work. All was good until I cut into the burger and it was raw. The front of house quickly removed it, apologised and replace it within a few minutes. However, they returned it with the wrong side and threw out a 3rd of my wifes fish which she had given me to taste. They said they would sort out the desserts as compensation. They deducted one. I wish I hadn't ve got a dessert. Chef must've been on drugs or something. Perfiterouls with a horseradish sauce...disgusting. Cheese cake (if you could call it that) with pineapple and chilli...rotten. I used to love Nade in Belfast, unfort5I won't be back until the chef either leaves or goes into therapy. Made In BelfastMade In Belfast has always been one of our favourite Cathedral Quarter spots with its relaxed vibe, quirky shabby chic interior, and bistro-style menu championing local, sustainable produce, so we were looking forward to a long overdue visit to try some of the new dishes. The Rum & Elderflower cocktail special was delightfully tropical with fruity hints of pineapple and lime. To start, we were intrigued by the Vegan Tofu Scallops with Kimchi & Pickled Cucumber, and we weren’t disappointed; an excellent plant-based option packed with flavour and chilli heat. Our main courses included a smoky, perfectly flaky Poached Cod with fondant potatoes and crispy egg, and a Curried Cauliflower Steak with raisins and the most amazing “dirty rice” we’d ever eaten. Sadly, we had to rush off, but we weren’t allowed to leave without a couple of takeaway desserts; a citrussy Pineapple, Lime Coconut and Feta cheesecake, and sweet Yorkshire Pudding Profiteroles with horseradish, hazelnuts and salted caramel! Many thanks to Emma for the invitation to try out the terrific new menu, and to Tom and Lucy for the warm welcome on such a stormy evening.

I visited here on Thursday night and had a great meal and experience. As a coeliac eating out can be pretty stressful. I was put at ease straight away by the waiter who clearly understood what coeliac meant and how food needed to be prepared for me (this is definitely not always the case in some restaurants!). The food was all labelled if gluten free on the menu too which made it a lot easier. And even better, you would never have known the food was gluten free- it was fantastic! Got very excited by the GF apple crumble- one that is usually not available to me. All in all, great food and great service.

The food is of good quality, that there is no doubt. But the gougy prices don't reflect good value for what you're getting. That's the bottom line. There are too many good places in Belfast creating good quality bistro food more keenly priced. Service was rushed and clearly not focused in the customer. Not enough staff at present? But our server was doing her upmost. The focus on drinks appears to be cocktails, which I quite frankly don't like. The wine list is limited to supermarket offerings and not great value for money. I stuck to bottled beer. Would I go back again? I'm afraid not. Maybe a place for the beautiful young people, not old fogies like me. But heyho!

An insipid greasy duck starter followed by a truly awful flat iron steak or steak pieces tough, chewy and tasteless followed by a very good lemon tart dessert. The waitress came down with our meals while we were having our starter. Steak pieces were tepid when they did reach us. £86.55 with cost of dessert being deducted as my friend had complained. Expensive for 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert and five spirits with 2 mixers. So badly over priced. I would definitely recommend NEVER going here. Dick Turpin wore a mask.

The menu was not cheap, but fairly exciting, so it felt like it'd be a nice treat despite being on a post lockdown tight budget.I ordered the roast and it turned out to be the most dull and disappointing roast I've ever had. Nothing about it was anything more than basic, a real disappointment compared to what the rest of the menu suggested. Barely roasted potatoes, mountain of tasteless mash and a nice old dry piece of meat (covered in gravy so I wouldn't need to spot the meat was not pink as requested)The staff was very nice and the service was great, but unfortunately the food was not up to the standard expected at all...

The decor is quirky, the staff are super friendly, and the food is amazing! The restaurant has a great ethos for sustainable food that is locally sourced where possible, and they're gluten free wherever they can be. I had the vegan cauliflower katsu curry with basmati rice (and I'm not even a vegan) and it was off the charts nice. If restaurants offered a range of vegan options that all tasted that good I'd be a vegan in the morning. Great portion size, cooked to perfection, super flavoursome and tasty. 5*

Visited Belfast with friends and luckily came across this gem of a restaurant by accident. The food is absolutely beautiful tasting and presentation. I had crispy cauliflower Katsu curry and the salted caramel toffee pudding both of which were divine. My friends also enjoyed the chicken supreme and said the sauce was delicious. Staff were so helpful and friendly and the atmosphere in there is great. Would highly recommend.

Joined a few friends over the Xmas period. Disappointed at start that only a festive menu was on offer but was pleasantly surprised!!

6 of us went here on the last Saturday of December. We had booked a table so no problem. We all ate of the set menu, which at £30 for a 3 course meal was great value. All of the food was fantastic, the only slight downside was it took a long time for the drinks to get served, it wasn't overly busy.

The restaurant was too busy for us to get a seat on Saturday night so we went on a Sunday night, the restaurant was still busy so my advice is to book if you want a table at the weekend. We ate from the Christmas menu. Plenty of different flavour s and plenty to eat. The 3 course menu was only £26 each. Lovely setting

On business with about 10 colleagues, we came here on a rainy night in early November 2019. It’s an eclectic interior, somewhat homey with a decidedly modern/country feel. We all dined at a long table with a mix match of chairs. The food was very good with pork belly, pate and other types of appetizers. I had the fish and chips with onion rings which were obviously homemade. The only downside was that they were out of tarter sauce - but oh well, I improvised with a mayo-mustard blend concoction of my own making. Drink we’re plentiful and service was on point. A great time was had by all - so much so we went to a second location the next night!

We were told in a very 'straight tone' way by the mamnager that we should of booked for the baby if we wanted to bring a pram. Obviously this hadnt occured to us as our small baby would not be eating and left me stood wondering what I should do with no helpful suggestion from the manager of how we could overcome this problem now that we had arrived.

Met up with some friends on a Saturday night here. The service was very prompt and friendly, remaining so all night. The cocktails were popular and well liked. The rest of the party enjoyed their meals, I must have been the unlucky one. My starter, seafood chowder, was cold and I had to ask for it to be reheated. My main was risotto which I found had nice taste but some of the rice was still hard. Everyone enjoyed their deserts. Price wise it wasn’t bad. Would I come back? Probably.

Party of 12 for the Curtain Call menu. Two courses £18 and well worth it. Goats cheese starter was excellent and burgers so tasty , generous portion of lovely chips. Atmosphere was qwirky, warm and comfortable. Waiting staff were excellent! Service charge added to bill which was worth it and no one complained about it being added on it was £2 each so that’s what we would have left anyway

Volveré evitando a toda costa.

Myself and my partner found ourselves here for lunch on our day trip to Belfast. We had steak and chips with a sauce each. The food was amazing, we didn’t expect it to be so good given the exceptionally cheap prices! The rest of the menu was appealing as well which is unusual to not at least see something you don’t like. We were spoilt for choice! The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. Thanks very much! We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Last year wrote a poor review for this restaurant. The management replied and sent me a "really" generous £20 voucher as an apology. This lay in my drawer for the best part of a year when I found it with only a week left to use it. Since it was again our wedding anniversary, this time our 25th, we decided to give Made in Belfast another chance. Mistake. In their defence I ordered the fried cod and to be honest it was as expected. Its one of those dishes you can't really screw up if you tried. My wife asked for the steak medium well and it came back as extremely well done. It was sent back apologies were made. My wife spent the next 10 minutes watching me eat until her steak arrived you guessed it overcooked again. Made the server aware and in their defence couldn't have been more apologetic but rather than wait again it was eaten.

Booked online for a Friday night and the place was busy the whole time we were there. The meat is locally sourced and the details are on the wall where it comes from which is a nice touch. The staff are all very friendly and attentive so you are not left waiting if you need another drink. I had the chicken which was delicious and the pink pornstar martini was very nice too. If in Belfast would certainly recommend making a visit to the Cathedral quarter for this little gem

We more or less stumbled across this restaurant after a long day on a Game of Thrones tour. Went in and put our name on the list (90 minute wait), then went to a nearby bar to wait. We weren't sure we were even up for starting dinner that late, but wow, it was worth it. Everything we ate (fish, lamb, veggies) was fabulous and locally sourced, like a $200 meal in any major US city. (It cost about $50)

The food and portions were great, very tasty, well presented, and hot. Unfortunately, the service let the whole event down. There were a number of disabled people at the table, including myself, the staff wouldn't serve drinks to the table without putting it on the whole bill and advised that if anyone wanted a drink they would have to go to the bar. It was busy, yes, but that was a bit much when they were serving other tables drinks. I noticed some of the staff gave the impression that they would rather be somewhere else. Despite the service, the company was good and we all enjoyed the food.

Appalling over all. Cheap cuts of meats presented to us as rib eyes ( silly of Deane to compromise on quality and thinks customer doesn’t know any better) Rude and cold staff ( that’s to be expected when you meet the manager) he is no leader that’s for sure! Rudest arrogant manger we have ever encountered in any restaurant ( he’s been there a while so tells you Deane & Co. are not invested in their customers, their feedback or good food over aggressive staff! Imagine going to pay to eat in a restaurant and being humiliated by an arrogant man and we were paying the bill and left a tip ( more fool us) Manager starting arguing with us when we gave feedback over the quality of some of the steaks served to us among many other hiccups over our dinner service Sides were average. Wine average and over priced. Overall we ran out of the place relieved to never have to be subjected to that abuse again
