Cuffs Bar and Grill in Belfast

12 of us had prebooked on a busy Easter Sunday. Good was very good, a selection of starters,mains & desserts.

Right… I’m not kidding. This was one of my favourite EVER dining experiences… and I’m from London where Central offers you a VAST array of any cuisine you could dream of. I had the bacon and blue cheese burger with skinny fries. Also had the fresh fruit pavlova with fresh cream. Succulent burger with such lovely flavours and fries that hit that sweet spot between crisp and melt in the mouth. Special mention for the new lad who had only been serving a few days. Polite and welcoming. A class act. Following on from the Gaol tour this was such a brilliant dining experience.

Crumlin gaol has its own restaurant 'Cuffs' 😂. Adult and child friendly. Salmon teriyaki was my choice, it was good, fish and chips recommended. The corridor has a gallery of the gaol history, its inmates and their daily activities and escapes!

First time here Food was great atmosphere was great and pricing was great will definitely be back again and again Amazing

Mothers day. 12pm booking. Was empty when we got there. People came to eat but got turned away due to fully booked but it wasn't when we were already sat down and had ordered our food. Then when tables started to fill up they seemed to have got their meals before our table. We had to ask where our food was after 50 minutes, I was only waiting on stew. Asked for a drink 3 times, ended up getting it free in the end. Very disappointing. Advertised cocktails on the way in but they didn't serve them. Can't see us going back. But the food was lovely I have to add. Service wasn't unfortunately.

Had a fantastic Mother's Day/Birthday in Cuffs. Excellent food. 5 had Sunday Roast Dinners and 2 had steak/chips. All thoroughly enjoyed. Top class service. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Would definitely recommend. We intend to return in the near future. Well Done Cuffs.

We were visiting the prison during our city break and decided to pop in for a drink. We couldn’t resist ordering some food after seeing other orders come out. The quality of food and portion sizes were amazing. It’s well worth a visit!

Fui a comer en familia, debo decir que mi mayor crítica va a ser el estado de las sillas y mesas. Las sillas están en un estado sucio con manchas por todas partes, si no hubiera estado con un grupo de miembros de mi familia, me habría ido. También necesitas conseguir mesas del tamaño adecuado para acomodar diferentes tamaños de grupos, no es agradable ser el que está en el medio tratando de sentarse cómodamente con las piernas envueltas en patas redondas de la mesa. En cuanto a la comida que realmente es muy promedio y no una comida que me gustaría segunda porción de. En cuanto al ambiente, mucha gente ha ido a este restaurante / lugar para la historia, pero ni una foto de pared en el restaurante representaba esto, (por lo que me han dicho que solía ser la cocina de la prisión? ) Vi dos fotos de algunos castillos antiguos, ¿por qué no mostrar a la gente la historia de dónde se sentaban a comer su comida?, por lo tanto, esto es una fuente de conversación y por qué han elegido este lugar para gastar su dinero ganado con esfuerzo y no sentir que es solo otra experiencia profunda frita. ¿Regresaría? NO

Wow! Was at cuffs bar & grill Monday 4th February with 3 friends,I hadn't been for quite a while, but the food was Just as good,and the young lady serving us was so friendly, such a lovely personality. I'll definitely be back. ( soon)

Staff work hard food usually beautiful although this time meat was bit dry,shame the steak Saturday prices went up as this was very popular,think there should be music or some atmosphere even a bar with a singer once a week would be amazing.

I organised a large group Christmas dinner here. They were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Some had different numbers of courses and different food options. The food was well presented, tasted great, and had good portion sizes. Everyone was happy with their meals. They didn't have any surcharge for large groups and let everyone pay their part of the bill. This place offered outstanding value for money and great service . I'd highly recommend it .

We (partner, son and myself) dined in this place this afternoon, just over a week into Christmas. Food was below average; vegetable soup was too salty, was nice at the start but by the end it was becoming worse tasting. The wheaten bread was cut far too thick (please don't do this), it felt like I was given a quarter of the loaf. The turkey and ham dinner was actually quite bad. The potatoes are clearly cooked the previous day or early that morning and reheated, because the mash tasted more like a potato bread than mashed potato. The roast potatoes, were awful; roast potatoes should be crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside. These were just hard everywhere. My partner didn't eat much of hers at all, I ate about half mine, and the son didn't finish his sausage beans and chips. Service; this was okay. We waited longer for the soups than we did the turkey and ham mains. Atmosphere; We're eating in an old prison. It was an okay atmosphere. Only reason we went was because my partner watched a tiktok influencer and wanted to try it because they said the food was unreal. Cough cough they didn't have to pay (free is always unreal).

Order: - Club Sandwich - Irish Beef Stew - Fried garlic potato cubes Great service and excellent food. Highly recommended!

Was such a lovely experience tonight. Mains/dessert was gorgeous. The waitress was very kind & helpful too

Lovely restaurant and whilst the website says it closes at 8pm this is last ordering time. We were booked in as a party of 8 for 19.30 and were in no way rushed out. They were even happy to take desert orders that they warned would take 20mins to prep and staff were cheerful and helpful at all times. Food was amazing. Most had the Excecutioner burger stack (it only defeated the 11 year old!) But the sausages and crispy onion rings, carbonarra and crispy chicken stack were all super tasty also. Range of desserts was good and the indi ideally made crumbles were totally delicious. Lovely space in which to spend a relaxed hour or so with family and friends. Interesting to browse the information about the jail (in the menu and entrance hall rather than the dining room itself which was very comfortably and tastefully decorated with no clichéd references to the location). Highly recommend it as somewhere to eat if you are in Belfast. I will be heading back next time we are over and plan to incorporate with a tour of the Crumlin road jail itself; having checked their website there is an all inclusive package (tour + 2 course menu) that looks like it would make for a great afternoon + evening.

Este era un restaurante super pequeño que descubrimos cuando visitamos la cárcel. La cafetería de la cárcel no tenía dónde sentarse, así que decidimos almorzar en Cuffs en su lugar. Una gran decisión. El personal era muy agradable y servicial, la comida estaba caliente y sabrosa y el entorno sin duda te hizo pensar en la vida para los reclusos que comen en este espacio en el pasado!

Reservado aquí con un mes de antelación y un depósito para una fiesta de 14 para el cumpleaños de mis hijas. Cuando llegaron dijeron que teníamos que sentarnos en diferentes mesas. Luego le dijeron que esperara afuera para mover algunas mesas juntas. La comida estaba en nosotros como si no podían esperar para sacarnos, y la mayoría de la comida tenía cosas incorrectas e incompetibles y algunos fueron devueltos para que les dijeran que eran solo vanos en el pollo. Algunos de los empleados no eran muy serviciales y groseros sin interacción. Cuando nos pidieron que cambiáramos un desierto que estaba mal, nos dijeron que tendríamos que agregarlo a la factura. Cuando fuimos a pagar factura y dar propina no se dio recibo para ver lo que estaba en factura y lo que pagamos. En general muy poco profesional y decepcionante, ya que todos estaban muy descontentos con la comida y la mayor parte del servicio, ya que los niños y algunos adultos se fueron a casa hambrientos por no haber comido la comida. En realidad arruinó las celebraciones de cumpleaños de mis hijas.

Fantastic food and reasonable price in truly unique environment. Catered for allergies really well.

Great place, shame about the food. One of the worst burgers I have ever eaten, this grub tasted like what you would expect at a prison.

No puedo entender todos los comentarios positivos sobre este lugar, la comida no era más que adecuada que se puede encontrar en cualquier cafetería básica.

We are regular customers at cuffs. An booked a meal for a birthday celebration for 9 people on Sunday 29th September 2024 @4.30pm. On arrival we were told that our table was booked for 5.30pm. Which was not the case. They seated us at 4.25pm. Four of the party had soup. Which they finished quick enough. Despite this. We had to finally ask at 6.15pm if our mains would be much longer. When they eventually did bring them out. One of the meals was wrong turkey and ham with gravy and should have been peppered sauce, one came (chicken goujons) an were eaten before the side that they came with was brought to the table. The final meal (a steak) (was brought when rest of the party were nearly finished there meals) and it to was wrong. Chips, instead of mash and pepper sauce instead of gravy. People who came in much later than we did, were served (3 courses) and left. Before all our party had received there meals. Not once were we asked if we would like more drinks throughout this time. Despite arriving at 4.20pm. We were the last to leave restaurant due to this service. All of us only having one soft drink each. This was very disheartening. I have only ever left good reviews for cuffs. An had recommended here to my friends. Hence why it was booked for a birthday celebration.

Tuvimos para empezar el cóctel de guisos y gambas. Luego para nuestra red, filete que definitivamente no decepcionó, mi compañero tenía la hamburguesa verdugo l, que era exactamente lo que el nombre decía, ya que no podía terminarlo. Agua la boca y una relación calidad-precio brillante. Mi compañera dijo que era así de bueno, ella volverá mañana para la cena. P.D. Vivimos a 26 millas de distancia jajaja.

Always visit here to mark our end of service and always have a great time. Food is top notch and the staff are always so friendly. Great for large parties so would fully recommend!

Comí aquí dos veces. Día que llegamos a Belfast debido a la ubicación conveniente y leer sobre él en línea. La hamburguesa era maravillosa. Comimos aquí de nuevo el día que realmente recorrimos el Crumlin Road Gaol - muy decepcionado. Horrible servicio y el pescado y patatas fritas eran grasientas. También lo eran las gambas gigantes (que eran muy pequeñas y todas rebozadas) y los aros de cebolla. También parecía desorganizado. Planeado en el postre, pero el servidor nunca regresó, así que simplemente se dio por vencido.

Feeling hungry after a fantastic Crumlin Jail guided tour, we went into Cuffs restaurant. We were soooo surprised with the quality of the food, as tourist attractions usually sell mediocre food, this food was absolutely delicious (a very good selection of food too and the Guinness was a bonus)! This restaurant can be booked without the accessing the jail…we will definitely visit again!

What a great wee find! Menu is great, would definitely suit everyone. Portions are massive and very well priced. Would highly recommend, we are well fed regulars! Yum!

A good place to eat food very good.

We were visiting the gaol and hadn't had lunch so thought we'd give Cuffs a go. Food was really good and there was a good selection on the menu. Food was freshly cooked and had a good balance of flavours. Prices were reasonable and service was quick and friendly. Great use of the space, very comfy and modern inside.

Nice restaurant with a lot of options. The Irish Stew was particularly good.

The food, service and ambience were just great. After visiting the prison we ate here. From the location to the service to the food, everything was good. Price performance is still right here! Can just be recommended.

The most delicious food and nice atmosphere the only thing that could be improved is adding in baby changing facilities.

We had excellent food at reasonable prices. In fact the food was so good it was undervalued . The restaurant is clean and considering it is in a very old prison it is very cosy. I would recommend it to anyone.

Nicely priced, great food. Had the burgers and beef stew, delicious. Service is a bit slow. This is a warm, inviting place on a cool day.

We weren’t planning on eating and drinking here but as we were waiting for the Crumlin gaol experience to begin we thought we’d check out the restaurant as the menu was on the window and it looked appealing and prices were good for a museum type restaurant (though you don’t have to visit the gaol to eat and drink in the restaurant!) It was a slow service start and we had to find some menus as these weren’t provided when we were shown to our seats (booking is advisable as we were informed they are always busy). However, everything went smoothly after that. The food was amazing and service was very friendly. Best steak sandwich I’ve had! I will definitely be booking this restaurant again for food when in Belfast.

Really good value and tasty food in a unique setting

Quirky restaurant in crumlin road jail. Four generations of family out for lunch. Care & attention by staff was exceptional & the food of which there was plenty was delicious & for four adults & two children the bill was so reasonable My mum loved it my daughters loved it my granddaughters loved it - especially the colouring in pages Will be back as we have an extensive menu to work through x

This was a belated birthday lunch. Great parking in the prison grounds and short walk to the restaurant. Good access in the basement of one of the wings. Very presentable and brought to our seats very quickly. I had the chicken on mash with peppercorn sauce with tobacco onions. The chicken burger was also excellent that my relation had. Great portions and extremely tasty. The apple crumble was also excellent. Fully recommended this place. The only thing I would say the staff where very busy but attentive. It was just a little slow but today we were not in a rush. Thank you will be back.

A welcome retreat after the cold wander around the gaol, good service, great beer & prices weren’t too high either. Definitely worth stopping off if you have time!

Visited on Mother’s Day which was busy and could have been hard to manage for staff but everything was great. Food was warm, well presented and staff were always available. Really nice lunch.

Lovely and warm after the very cold tour of the goal. Good coffee, friendly service. We would’ve eaten there but the server didn’t return to us after saying he would so we decided to eat in the Cathedral Quarter instead.

Enjoyed a delicious Mother's Day meal, which was a great addition to the guided tour of the Gaol. Food was delicious and the staff was lovely as anything. The only thing that was less than ideal was the noise level, mostly from an abundance of children. As an autistic person, this was quite overwhelming. The food made up for it in the end. Will definitely be back!

Situated in the Crumlin Road Gaol (you do not have to do the Gaol Experience to go to Cuffs). The food was very good and reasonably priced. I would recommend it.

This is a great spot for after the tour of the prison. The food is stunning and the staff are very pleasant working extremely hard through a busy Sunday.

Called in to try there Sunday menu 2 courses for £19.95 or 3 for £24.95 ..On arrival the restaurant was warm and cosy tastefully decorated wasn't overly busy ..We waited a while to be shown to our table ,Once seated drink and food orders where taken quickly we ordered prawn cocktail weaten bread and ceaser salad for starters ,We both chose the burger loaded with bacon ,cheese ,chicken strip and peppered sauce and thick cut fries the wee woman chose from the kids menu margarita pizza and fries and some Malteser cheesecake to share ,Have to say food was very good and good portions and cheese cake was delicious 😋 My only issue is the service after the initial order was taken I had to constantly get up out off my seat to go search for a waitress to lift plates order more drinks sauces etc they all seemed to disappear out the back kitchen area no one once asked how our meal or came back to lift empty plates glasses replace cutlery etc..The total bill including 3 diet cokes and a pint off cider was £63 which was very reasonable I'll definitely give it another go hopefully next time the service will have improved

Attended cuffs for Xmas dinner a staff dinner enjoyed cuffs very much the front off staff were on point every time the food was amazing I got there burger enjoyed every bite would I go back yes I would say the prices are not too hight for the quality is up there with any star restaurant. Cuffs is now my 2 favourite place to go . Als cafe is still my number one . 5 stars all around for cuffs from the service to the kitchen staff fantastic 👏 👌 😀 👍

Me and my GF came here on Sunday for a Christmas dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Lovely roast turkey , excellent service and a nice venue. We will definitely be back to this cosy place!

Fairly extensive menu in a well furnished and comfortable restaurant. Food served hot and was very tasty. Prices fairly reasonable. Enjoyed our visit to the jail and stumbling on this was a bonus!

Supposedly a “bar”, but not the right to have a drink without eating… why not… but at 4 p.m. in the afternoon?? 4 waitresses available, 3/4 of the room empty, 30 minutes of waiting in front of the visitor watching waitresses who don't want to work. It’s a shame, it’s really not very hard to put someone in a corner and serve them a guiness, especially when you’re the only establishment open.

Hard to find but worth the search. Delicious food, I had Irish Stew with great service.

Took the wife and kids out for a family meal. The service was impeccable only topped by the food itself. Plenty to choose from for the whole family and every plate that arrived at the table was perfectly cooked and had plenty of flavours. I think we have found our new dinner venue.

We grabbed a quick bite after a tour of the prison and enjoyed our club sandwich with hot crispy fries, delicious coleslaw and salad, which was nicely dressed! Okay, the food wasn’t exactly mind blowing, but it most definitely hit the spot and we left with our hunger pangs quashed.

Food was great- service was, slow, not polite and over charged us. The staff also kept disappearing for long periods of time.

We went without reservation on suggestion by our Black taxi tour guide but were glad we could make it. The service was quick and fantastic . And the food portion size was plentiful wrt the price. The waitress Ms. Grainne took great efforts to explain and serve the dishes, especially trial drinks for the cocktails when we were in two minds. All in all we enjoyed the time.we had. Though we didnt make the jail tour during the day.

Hi I was in during the week and it was top class, everything was wonderful. I was very disappointed not to be able to tip using my card as I had no cash. I think it is a mean and miserable way to treat staff who are hardly on executive pay.. Sort it please.

Food was good but very slow service and forgot about some food and drinks

Had what was apparently an 8oz steak, seemed very small and the thing was breaking apart almost as if it had been frozen. Not a pleasant meal and very overpriced.

The staff our amazing, only my 2nd time there, me and my son had a wonderful meal, in a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere.

Nous avons pris le plat conseillé par la serveuse et n'avons pas été déçus. Notre fille a pris l'hamburger du menu enfant. La viande était un peu trop cuite mais elle a trouvé le pain très bon. Les frites n'avaient rien d'exceptionnel mais elles étaient bonne également. Le service est excellent, nos deux serveuses étaient très souriantes et disponible. L'ambiance du restaurant est géniale.

Hemos visitado la prisión y al terminar hemos comido. Hemos pedido 2 buguers con sticks de boniato y un extra de aros de cebolla. La burguer era grande pero la carne estaba demasiado pasada y el sabor nada espectacular. Los aros de cebolla demasiada cobertura. Lo mejor de todo los sticks de boniato en lugar de patatas, buenísimo. Las 2 burguer, los aritos, media pinta cerveza y un agua £29,75

Heard good things and it lived up to the hype. Vibrant atmosphere (piled up after we arrived), and the food was plentiful, reasonably priced and tasty. Service was quick and there were no delays getting the bill. The only gripe is the coke is minimal per glass. Overall, a worthy stop for a decent lunch.

Definitely NOT prison food lol. Snuck in here without a reservation on a Sunday, and the lovely staff arranged a table for us. It’s a scratch kitchen, and the Irish stew was fantastic. Would go back — it was a great way to end the prison tour but would eat there without the tour.

Visited here today after a trip around the prison. Service was great. Sunday roast was the best I've had for a long time. Really well priced aswell. Highly recommend xx

A nice place to eat located in a very gloomy place. You’d better eat first prior to your excursion, otherwise you won’t have appetite after visiting Crumlin road gaol. The bar offers good selection of burgers and sandwiches. We liked the Roast of the Day very much.

Beautiful food is amazing 👏 👏 👏 👏 good for price. The only negative point I can say is that some of the tables at the back wall are not the best on level terms, which I'm sure most can live with..

After hearing great reviews of both staff and food my partner and I decided to finish off our self guided tour with some lunch. Sadly neither of these expectation were met. My vegan partner was left dissipointed after recieving her soup with no bread. She was informed the bread was not vegan but was not offered any alternative.(perhaps a small side) I believe this was made worse by the fact she still had to pay full price and when we questioned the reciept the waiter remarked that we would still be charged full price as the bread (which she did not have) "Costs next to nothing to make". My chicken burger and chips were average. We were left a little underwhelmed by the experience and waiters demeanour. Didn't bother staying for coffee or sweet treat. Not typically on here writing reviews but this did stand out after hearing such good things. Shame.

I bought my sister and wife there for a meal today as a late birthday present to mh sister. I found the staff excellent . There when you needed them polite and attentive at all times . Food came on time and tasted wonderful portions not small or overly big perfect in size . I would highly recommend this restaurant to all and anyone who wants to visit Belfast and take in a meal while there .
