The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was an unforgettable experience with my 4 nieces and sister! The creative treats and atmosphere made it a perfect afternoon. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique and delightful tea experience!

Good selection of teas... what I didn't know until I got there, was tea and the sandwiches are all you can eat... you can swap the teas around to have a try of everything.

The experience is quite poor, it is not set in Alice in Wonderland. The only thing they have from Alice is the tableware, which is beautiful, but neither the place nor the atmosphere matches it. It is true that the food is good but the price is very high to be on a shabby terrace with a table without even a tablecloth. I did not like it and I will not return.

Service was exceptional and staff very attentive. The food was excellent and the only critique was that it would have been nice to have a couple more sandwich’s and less sweet things so it was more balanced.

This was my first experience with a formal-ish (though come as you are) English tea service and it was lovely, with plates featuring classic Alice in Wonderland artwork from John Tenniel and delightfully themed teas and sweets. I had the Cheshire Cat tea which was delicious and the sandwiches and sweets were decadent. I would definitely do this again the next time I'm in London.

Excellent service and a really lovely afternoon tea with limitless sandwiches not that we needed any more as so filling. Loved all the different teas and you could have as many as you wanted. Really nice setting and ambience

The overall experience was lovely, however we only got 2 finger sandwiches each which we didn’t feel was enough. I had the gluten free option as I am coeliac, whilst the cakes and scones were delicious I was disappointed that I didn’t receive the same amount of cakes as the regular afternoon tea diners.

Amazing service and great food and drinks, but it was very chill to sit outside in December. We recommend that you inform customers better that the tables are outside and that although there are heating lamps, that is not enough to have relaxed and comfortable meal.

We have had high tea in a few locations around London, The Savoy, The Cafe Royal & Claridge’s, all around the same price and all better than the Mad Hatters Tea. The tea is served in a heated tent in the atrium of the hotel, the service is ok but not on point, we had to ask for top ups and refills numerous times, the cakes were overly sweet and samey. It was ok but not great.

Really overpriced, staff was extremely forgetful and very obviously reciting rehearsed notes when introducing food and beverages. Food was below average, pre-made, refrigerated and served still cold and stiff. Zero ambience resembling anything to do with Alice in Wonderland except for flatware. Would not recommend to anyone.

We waited over 20 minutes to order our tee and another at least 20 minutes untill we received our etagere. It was decorated very cute and fully themed after alice in wonderland. The tea and the food was verry good but for us it's not worth 55£.

Great place to have afternoon tea at - amazing food and amazing flavor profiles. Had hoped for a more Mad Hatter setting than the posh setting of the Sanderson, like Alice themed decorations around the place. Loved the themed dinnerware though.

Food was fantastic, not too sweet for desserts, tea was great as well, times were flexible as well as they served afternoon tea till 7 PM which is great for my family so we can explore London in the afternoon and go to afternoon tea for dinner after.

I had previous been to the Sanderson for dinner before covid and stopped by to have another great experience. Walking through the door, it was noticeable that the management had changed. There was a lot of staff around but lack the customer service to acknowledge customers. I walked in and had to stand around waiting to be acknowledged by any staff. After being taken to a table, we ordered food and drinks. The food was ok but the experience afterwards soured the whole experience. After finishing our food, we waited close to 15 minutes for someone to clear our table. I finally got the attention of the waiting staff, asked for the plates to be cleared, and asked for water and the bill. I repeated this request three times, and the staff walked away without removing the plates. Then someone returned with the bill. I then pointed out I asked for the plates to be removed, asked for water and then the bill. Took another member of staff to action this. This honesty felt like faulty towers. Due to this experience, I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. First time I had ever done this. This restaurant has all the trappings to be brilliant but the staff need more training on etiquette and customer service.

Very cute! Lots of little touches to go along with the theme. The tea was delicious. The food was good. Attentive service.

I made a reservation here for afternoon tea. The food and service was amazing. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find my reservation so they took me as a walk in. I was charged the no show fee twice due to a system error. It’s a shame that happened and why I won’t rate this restaurant a 5 star. I was only visiting London and had to buy another phone plan so I can call them since they didn’t answer my emails. It was a lot of waiting and transferring my call until someone was able to help me out, but didn’t fully understand my situation. Even then I didn’t get the full refund back (about a dollar and some change was left out) I would recommend avoiding the customer service line if you can, go as a walk in. The restaurant itself was still amazing and a great experience besides that

We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughters birthday. Everything was so detailed and lovely. I think a couple more selection of sandwiches would have been nice and the price of Champagne for Sanderson Hotel was a bit pricey but overall we had a lovely experience and would recommend it for all ages.

I’ve been to a few afternoon teas, and this has been by far the best. It was brought as a surprise birthday and it didn’t disappoint.

Lay was engaging and knowledgeable. The experience is for anyone who's looking for a fun afternoon tea experience, but more so for Alice fans

We had some little friends joining us during our visit, which wasn’t too pleasant 😥 other than that, setting was nice, food was okay.

Food was good. Service very slow - staff busy keeping pigeons out of afternoon tea terrace. would not recommend.

This afternoon tea was just ok it was very rich food so it was hard to manage more than 2 cakes even though they were tiny. No selection of teas just your basic English Breakfast Tea which I personally feel what afternoon tea is about maybe an option for earl grey etc would at least add variety. Staff were very friendly, that was the most positive part of the experience.

Honestly, not great which was frankly disappointing. The idea was nice but the whole hotel had a feeling of previously being a lot better and trying to cling onto that. Service wasn’t great, pretty much every table wasn’t cleared when guests left leaving a slightly depressing feel. The final blow was when we asked if we could have a box to take the left overs home in and the waiter thrust a box into my girlfriend’s hands. I know this is a small thing but in EVERY five star hotel I’ve been in, these would be packaged for you. Food was ok. Not great. For the same price you can go somewhere a lot nicer and less depressing.

The food was nice and the presentation excellent but the ambiance of the courtyard was lacking (it was cool and drafty). In addition the service was not very attentive. I had the feeling they were understaffed. We had to ask twice for the aperitif we ordered, and we never received a second pot of tea. I mean it was by no means bad but for the price I would expect differently.

I took my 9 year old granddaughter for a half-term treat. Lovely for adults but not for children.

The food was very nice and the little girls enjoyed themselves, but I was really saddened by the service. Everything had to be explained very clearly, and service was very slow. Even asking for more tea, exactly the same as last time, seemed to be a huge event of everyone having to recall the tea they had. We had a 1:00pm table so I feared it could be very busy. It wasn't, yet still there seemed to be a total lack of understanding with anything we asked for. Maybe it was everyone's first day or something?

The kids enjoyed the theme but the outdoor covered seating and ambience meant it did not feel like a luxury afternoon tea experience. We paid £270 for 2 adults and 2 kids which didn’t feel like good value but the staff were attentive and friendly

The food was OK but considering the clever theme, they could have done much more with the food and the decor. The service was poor and although we paid it because it was included in the bill, the 13.5% service charge qas ridiculous. I assume they automatically include it as you would not tip that much if it was not.

Went there as my daughter is gluten free arrived and seated our rose champagne came but my glass had a chip in it they reacted quickly and I got a replacement then my daughters gluten free chocolate mousse was frozen in the middle waited for 10 minutes a new one can we were assured it was ok but unbelievably it was frozen in the middle again !! A gentleman came over apologised and said can I bring you so a gluten free chocolate cake she said yes my daughter asked for a fork over 10 minutes passed no fork we asked again they apologised we did get a discount on our bill but we left feeling really underwhelmed dissatisfied upset and disappointed considering how much it is there was a catalogue of errors which should not have occurred and definitely not bringing us mousse that is frozen in the middle Twice

Tea is always a fun experience. The Mad Hatter themed tea is a natural. Decent tea overall. So so service that was rather slow to get additional tea and sandwiches. The presentation of the food was wonderful. A bit too much sweet vs savory but overall a pleasant experience.

Delicious food (refillable mini sandwiches) and the most imaginative Alice in Wonderland themed drinks and little cakes. The service was excellent, lovely and thorough staff. Definitely a treat, would save this one for a special occasion.

The cakes weren’t very nice. Lots of them were wet and felt like they’d been defrosted. Sandwiches were ok but a bit dry. They refilled them often, so there was plenty of food. The set up was beautiful!! No doubt about that . Visually, lovely but the food was not great.

We had a really nice time. The food was good. The table was set like Alice in Wonderland. Our waitress was really nice. We enjoyed it.

Our kids loved this experience! A kid-friendly and fun/festive tea with the Alice and Wonderland theme and having each food and drink perfectly designed to match the theme was the perfect way to introduce our 10 and 8 year old boys to a London afternoon tea. The design of the food was incredibly impressive - huge compliments to the chef/bakery team.

Nice experience overall but very mean with the clotted cream and scones. I was surprised given the price paid.

Wasn’t wowed by the food or the place. A lot of the deserts were so sickly. The tea selection was good, and they were very tasty.

Overall great experience, there is a service charge of about 12% that, at least myself, did not know, the service was great as well as the food, you can refill some of the food and the tea as many times as you want.

My daughter (9) and I really enjoyed the Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea. I pre requested a plainer sandwich for my daughter and she liked the food. The experience is enjoyable and nicely done and the service was good. I wish they could make it more of a spectacle by adding some fun like the white rabbit running through the restaurant or a Cheshire cat etc- I think that would add something special but overall I would recommend.

The service could of been better the welcome drinks were just put on the table without any explanations. The staff and decor didn't really create much of an Alice in Wonderland ambience. Even if the cutlery was had the Alice in wonderlsnd theme there could of been a bit more It was like the staff was just going through the motions. The sandwiches were very good, it would of been nice even if it is a set menu to have an option if you want more savoury or sweet cakes or less sweet cakes but more scones.

Too expensive for what it is, especially for kids. The costumes were fun but the food was not great and the service was slow.. unfortunately would not come back!

The food was so fun! Our kids really enjoyed it. We liked the food also. The environment was nice, but the bathrooms were not. The appearance and taste of the food were very good! It was cold even under the heat lamps. We were only offered more finger sandwiches after we were through our dessert round. And, it would have been nice to have more tea. For the price, it was ok. It is very expensive for the amount of food you receive. No one left hungry, but we may have left with a sugar high.

Ambiance and food was good. Service was subpar. Waitress brought tea and food, then never returned. I had to flag down another waitress to get our bill to pay. Would have given a better rating if service was better.

Outstanding experience at the Sanderson hotel. Sandwiches were amazing and so were the cakes. Loved seating in the outside area under a heater and covered from the rain. Our server was so lovely didn’t catch his name but he was very attentive and explained all the different cakes / drinks etc. we were off to see an afternoon show so it was a bit rushed which was a shame as I feel you could have sat there for hours taking it all in. I’d recommend this experience to anyone!

I did this 10 years ago and it was amazing, so much attention to detail, little riddles on the napkins, a „drink me“ beverage where every sip tasted different. Cakes that would play tricks on your mind. All those things made it a unique experience, unfortunately all of this is gone. The food was ok but nothing special, and not much magic left.

I brought my teenage niece here while visiting London and it was one of our favorite experiences of the trip. Everything was exceptional, we enjoyed the whole experience and I would highly recommend it!

This is the third time we have been, and have loved it every time. My son has additional needs and they are patient and great with him. The food is wonderful and tasty, and is served with care and a smile, they also change the menu up, so always something delicious and different to try.Will definitely be booking again

Having been to this twice in the past and loved it (both times pre covid) I was excited to take my team there today. It was quite a disappointment - the food was no where near as good as it used to be (scones were good but sandwiches and cakes were a disappointment) Service was slow and not great despite the 13.5% service charge The venue looks tired and in need of a spruce/ update. Overall very expensive for a mediocre experience.

The theme was wonderfully present in every aspect from the food to the decor to the tea selection. The Queen of Hearts tea was absolutely divine. Everything on the menu was yummy. My waiter did a great job going through everything on the tiers and made it very enjoyable. Plus it seemed like everyone around me was receiving an equally great service. Overall just a great experience.
