Cute idea but overpriced especially once you have to pay 13.5% service charge on top. We felt there were too many sweet treats and not enough savoury. Also felt the the setting didn’t suit the theme.

I had very high hopes for this experience. Upon arrival, our waiter was rude when we asked a few nice and friendly questions. After not being helped with our questions, our waiter shushed me on multiple occasions and then wasn’t attentive and bring us our bill on a timely manner.

The waiting staff were friendly but their spoken English was not very good and it felt a little awkward when trying to order drinks and understand what they were saying to us. The food overall looked lovely, but certainly was not as good as it was a few years ago. I really missed the “Down the rabbit hole” cocktail! The experience some how lacked the “wow” factor. I am not sure if scones were included in the package , as it was listed on the menu, but they were not served to us.The whole experience no longer feels luxurious, but cheapened!

Overall servers was really lovely however service was really really slow. Food was okay, not my taste, I just expected better for the value. However concept is really cool and the teas were lovely. Whist I will not be attending again as I just didn’t enjoy my overall experience I would say a cool concept to try and if you’re into Alice and wonderland.

Fabulous themed food, dinnerware, and bubbly champagne.

Great for kids, taking every opportunity to show Alice in Wonderland theme. Food is not of great quality, too sweet and far too much bread and too much in general, not delicate and luxurious. Service is very animated and mainly suitable for children.

To big sizes to be able to eat them all. Everything was fine, but the feeling was a bit like sittning in a facory : you sit close to other guests who eats the same and get the same presentation. The service was good but they were very stressed out.

Treated my 14yr old daughter, mum and step-mum to the Mad Hatters Tea while visiting London from Vancouver, Canada. We loved it! The Alice and Wonderland Theme was delightful and the food was amazing.

Vegan sweets were not as tasty as we hoped. Normal ones were very hood instead.

I have booked this as a birthday treat for my wife. I have requested a courtyard seating and confirmed that over the phone however upon arriving we were sat in a small garden in fron of the hotel (about 2m from a street). We were told that this small garden is classified by them as courtyard and they will not sit is in the proper courtyard as its for bigger tables. Half of the tables were empty in there so it was dissapoing to get that treatment. the savoury part of the afternoon tea was just stale, like it would have been on a counter for a good few hours. Both my wife and my laughed that a meal deal sandwich would have been better. The scones were good although at this price point I would expect them to be warm. the sweet part was decent but nothing special. The tea itself was good. Serice was unfortunately lackluster. on more than few occasions we had to wait a noticable time to get anything refilled/ordered. the amount of cream / jam was barely enough for 2 scones and when we asked for a refil we got even less and it took way too long. I would not recomend this place at all, there are a lot of much better options for a nice afternoon team nearby.

We booked for 2 children and 2 adults. Everything including the sandwiches and cakes was explained clearly. Service was great. Everything is presented very well. Cakes, Sandwiches, scones and vol au vents were all made exceptionally well. Scones were so light and vol au vents were buttery/light/crumbly. Tea / Coofee / Juices were constantly refilled. We spent a full 2 hours here as we enjoyed our afternoon tea and ambience. Would definitely recommend.

I had previous been to the Sanderson for dinner before covid and stopped by to have a great experience. Walking through the door, it was noticeable that the management had changed. There was a lot of staff around but lack the customer service to acknowledge customers. I walked in and had to stand around waiting to be acknowledged by any staff. After being taken to a table, we ordered food and drinks. The food was ok but the experience afterwards soured the whole experience. After finishing our food, we waited close to 15 minutes for someone to clear our table. I finally got the attention of the waiting staff, asked for the plates to be cleared, and asked for water and the bill. I repeated this request three times, and the staff walked away without removing the plates. Then someone returned with the bill. I then pointed out I asked for the plates to be removed, asked for water and then the bill. Took another member of staff to action this. This honesty felt like faulty towers. Due to this experience, I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. First time I had ever done this. This restaurant has all the trappings to be brilliant but the staff need more training on etiquette and customer service.

Really wonderful service and so lovely to my 6yr old daughter too. Nothing was too much for the staff and they were more than happy to offer extra sandwiches or cakes. A lovely treat and special afternoon

We did not get refills of tea or sandwiches and items we requested we often had to request twice. They seemed understaffed.

Our experience was quite unexpected. Prior to our booking, we had a discussion with the staff regarding our dietary requirements, and they assured us that they could accommodate them. However, on the day of our visit, the manager assured us that we could have a menu without dairy, not the vegan option, but we ended up receiving the vegan menu instead. Subsequently, the manager disappeared without taking any responsibility. The individuals in charge lack proper hospitality skills and should improve their manners and sense of accountability. If something cannot be fulfilled, it should be communicated to the customer from the outset; we are not ignorant. We believe that we should not have been charged a service fee, but we hope that the staff will use that money for training to enhance their ability to address customer complaints effectively.

I strongly discourage booking this place. The restaurant under Sushant’s management is chaotic and the standards are very low. The gentleman is very rude. I strongly discourage dining there.

I took my niece and her friends for afternoon tea. They absolutely loved it. The service was great. Staff very friendly. The only thing that was disappointing was the non alcoholic drinks - they were very expensive for what they were.

The food was good. The presentation was creative. The service was terrible. After we got our tea and food we never saw our server again and I had to track down someone to get our check. We would have gotten more tea had we been checked on

Absolutely loved the Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea. Delicious food, lovely service and all in all a fab experience. The child's portion was perfect. Highly recommend!

In a word: GIMMICK! They have a few, very few, costumes for kids to wear. Customers get a cloying sweet beverage to mimic the “drink me” portions of the story. Tea itself is boring and typical of a lot of teas, only without the quality. If you’re going to have a Mad Hatters Tea, put servers in costumes and character. Have the greeter be the hare, complaining about latenesses, but enthusiastically thanking parties that arrive on time. . Deputize the kids to serve as assistants to the queen, or at least Alice. And for gods sake get consistency enthusiastic servers. Some were great, some were dismal.

I came here with my friends , the food and teas were amazing and service was 5 star , we even could put on mad hatter hats and take pictures , such a fun experience, I most definitely will be back !

We had a wonderful time at the Sanderson for the Mad Hatter’s Tea. It was our first afternoon tea experience & it was delightful. The service was excellent & the food divine! The desserts were especially memorable. Some of the best food we’ve ever had. Tea was delicious and was offered ice due to the heat, which was very nice. From the themed dishwater to our lovely server, we had a wonderful time. Will definitely reserve this again when in London again.

We had a very pleasant experience at the mad hatters afternoon tea. The service was great and the food was very nice! We left happy and more than full. This was our second time here and it was not the last time!

Unfortunately, service was a bit lacking. We felt it was hard to get the attention of the staff. They did not ask if everything was ok, and if we wanted more to drink. Other than that, food was good, and the outside garden was pretty.

The food was great, as well as the mad hatter theme, overall experience was a bit disorganized. I pre booked a particular package which wasn’t acknowledged upon arrival. I said it again when service began and still wasn’t clear. Our food came before our tea, we had to ask twice for the champagne and overall we were asked the same thing by different people which interrupted our experience. Overall it was good, but I wouldn’t say experience value for money or supportive of a 12.5% gratuity charge (which btw was automatically added to the bill).

Everything was fantastic. The food was really tasty and the decoration was really beautiful. However, we think the music was too loud and too energetic for an afternoon tea. Might be a good idea to play more relaxing music, such as acoustic music, jazz or even Alice in Wonderland themed music.

My daughter and I ordered the vegan tea party. There is a lot of room for improvement. The presentation was lovely and the waiters were very kind, but the flavors were really off. Two of the four sandwiches were good, but the other two were quite bad. The chickpea and chutney was particularly bad. it was very dry and had almost no flavor. The sweets were even worse. The pastries appeared to have a gluten-free crust which was dry and unpleasant. The carrot cake was over spiced and the little tart with a chocolate shell had a completely flavorless filling. We definitely would not book here again.

What an awful experience, service was appalling, we were surrounded by tables with dirty plates of food not cleared away for the duration of our Afternoon Tea. Never offered clean plates and therefore was expected to eat savoury sandwiches, cakes and scones from the same plate. We found a table with clean plates and helped ourselves. Only nice things was the cakes. Also not too sure about the Ibiza trance music playing either... more like bar music than an Alice in Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea. Oh if you want a pot of tea, you needs to ask three times, ask a second person and wait 25 minutes.... just like this review, it was served just as cold!

I am vegetarian and I let the restaurant know weeks before hand but I still feel I wasn’t catered to. They had a normal menu and a vegan menu. As a vegetarian I like cheese, eggs and dairy but these were also kept out of the tea for me which was disappointing. My cakes were eggless therefore different to my friends. I also had most vegan dishes even though I am not vegan. But overall was a nice ambiance.

My Partner had a great time, the gluten free food was exceptional and you really couldn't tell the difference from the parts I tried. Very filling and wonderfully presented.

The place is certainly fun for the little ones and gives them quite a memorable experience wearing whimsical costumes and having a colorful tea party. Sadly though, the food was tasteless and does not justify the price. The adult menu is exactly the same as the kids yet charged at a higher price.

My mom, daughter, and I recently enjoyed an afternoon tea at a hotel, themed on Mad Hatter's Alice in Wonderland. The hotel's outdoor setting provided a lovely ambiance, enhanced by the charming Alice in Wonderland-themed dishware. The savory offerings, including sandwiches and scones, were excellent. However, the sweet pastries were disappointing. The macarons were off, and some desserts, like the berry mousse and cheesecake, tasted odd and sour. Although the menu advertised tea, you can also order chocolate milk for kids and lattes, which is a plus. Service was a bit slow, possibly due to being short-staffed, and there were some oversights like missing sweeteners. Despite these issues, the beautiful decor and overall experience were enjoyable. Improvements in the pastry quality and service would make it even better.

Had afternoon tea. The food was excellent, but we waited quite some time for it. The waiters were nice but some of them spoke in such a low voice that none of us could hear them. They kind of whispered the menu and tea info. I would recommend this for the food and the venue looks very nice but the service could be improved.

L'expérience de prendre l'Afternoon Tea au Mad Hatters est très amusante. La thématique Alice au Pays des Merveilles permet de renommer toutes les composantes du menu, et tous les accessoires y font écho (sauf la musique, étonnamment un peu moche). Les bouchées qui accompagnent le thé sont très bonnes et abondantes - les desserts sont très sucrés et très riches:l il faut avoir un bon appétit pour se rendre jusqu'à la fin... Les choix de thé sont intéressants, même si peu nombreux. Le thé se prend dans un jardin intérieur très calme et accueillant.

The service was not fast at all, and the experience was not overall good

Not worth the price at all. We waited for 20 minutes before someone came to take the order. The food quality was poor, worse than some 20pp afternoon tea places. The desserts are especially bad. Way too sweet and the candy floss tasted like it was made a week ago. Tea was tasteless.

When we arrived we were surprised to find our table was outside. The service was a little haphazard and our champagne was topped up so that someone ended up with none. The table decoration and presentation of the food was great but the quality was disappointing. The cheesecake was rubbery and no-one ate all their food.

Strongly discourage booking event space there. The managers rude, unprofessional and very unhelpful. I believe the name of the most unhelpful manager was Sushan. The place seems to be understaffed. It's not a good place for a private hire, unfortunately. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience with my husband, so glad we went! Loved the theme, ambience, and atmosphere. Service was top notch as well. The patio is beautiful and the hotel itself is neat. Saw many groups of families, friend get togethers, dad and daughter dates, etc.

Everything was perfect. We only had one minor issue, which may also be due to our subjective perspective: the music that was playing was somewhat unrelated to the theme.

My daughter and I had a lovely afternoon tea at The Sanderson Hotel, Chipego attended to us all afternoon , nothing was to much trouble. Impeccable service from this young lady, we look forward to having Mad Hatters afternoon tea again in the hear future.

Finding Gluten Free and Vegan high tea was a challenge. we were so happy to stumble upon Mad Hatters! the Vegan GF high tea was INCREDIBLE! we were blown away and loved every sandwich, dessert and endless tea! They accommodated us so beautifully.

Disappointing service, food not up to standard. Booked this for a special afternoon and we were left disappointed.

We had a very lovely time. The food was great and so was the tea. It was a bit hot outside when we went and no fans. We ran out of ice water pretty quickly and service was sparse.

Loved the theme and the venue. Being seated we didn’t feel valued. It was a case of get them in and get them out. General food was great but the bread for sandwiches was dry. Also tasted like salmon paste. Little birthday cake was a lovely gesture but the cake is sooo dry and did not taste good. Took ages to get any recognition to get us more tea. Overall I’d probably not come with adults but would come with children for the experience. Thank you to the lovely lad who partly served us

Having experienced an excellent previous Alice afternoon tea a few years ago. My experience yesterday did not come up to expectations. Having arrived early we were quite happy to rest and wait. Felt the receptionist was a little to abrupt, but the attentive service we received from Amadou was excellent although a little suprised a number of staff were wearing denim jeans.The menu was sticky dirty and had not been stapled well. Just suprised that such a prestigious hotel lacked finishing touches. The food was presented well but lacked a bit of finesse and taste apart from a couple of items the rest was uninspiring. The teas we drunk were lovely as was the charming table crockery. I had bought my Granddaughter for the experience I’m sorry to say it was poor value and disappointing . OverallI couldn’t recommend the Alice in wonderland tea

Wonderful! The services and space was incredible. So glad I came.

Overall Poor Experience. The waitress at first was excellent but once we received our tea she was not to be seen for over an hour and we paid with the manager without seeing her ever again. We didn’t even receive our child’s food that was promised by our waitress. The food and tea was good but for the amount of money we spent the service made the whole experience very disappointing.

Had a lovely dinner at The Sanderson. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and our waitress Antonella was very attentive.

This was a 70th birthday treat for my husband, sadly it wasn’t special at all. We waited 20 minutes without anyone noticing us, wonder how long we would have waited if I hadn’t stopped a waitress? I had a dirty champagne glass and a dirty teacup. The creamy and mayonnaise products had clearly been out of the fridge uncovered all day and looked like a health risk. The music wasn’t appropriate at all for an afternoon tea, don’t mind tecno pop at all but it just wasn’t the right time or place for it. The only positive I can mention was our allocated waiter Amadou.

We were underwhelmed. The food (afternoon tea) did not live up to our expectations. The Alice in wonderland theme was not very visible except for some cheap costumes for the children to wear. When we were ready to pay they had put a service fee to the already hefty tab. If you want to enjoy a nice afternoon tea in London there are better alternatives than Mad Hatters at Sanderson.

Afternoon tea with rose champagne. Nice atmosphere and nice food (although the sweet ones were bit too sweet for my taste). Service was slow and unprofessional. We had ordered everything beforehand but it seemed the waitress had no acknowledge about this. We also needed to wait a moment for service for the whole time.

The Mad Hatters tea was cute - food was just fair. Tea sandwiches were not great. Desserts were very good.

My daughter and I had a lovely time at the mad hatters tea party. I would say it was child friendly. Great atmosphere, lovely seating area outside.

Sadly the experience wasn’t what we had hoped. Food was nice, although didn’t feel quirky enough for the theme. Service started well but then there seemed to be confusion with two people serving us so just after we had ordered more drinks 1 minute later someone would interrupt us to ask if we wanted more, got quite annoying after a couple of hours. We were charged £35 per glass of additional bubbles which was daylight robbery. The general decor felt dated and a bit shabby.

High expectations for this and sadly it fell very flat. Alice took the wrong pill. For this experience to be in a 5 Star hotel, I was expecting more. The food was very subpar and somewhat inedible. The tea had zero flavor, and the red potion Drink Me juice tasted like straight up chemicals. The one white heart shaped dessert was firm and gelatinous and horrible texture. Hardly had service from servers. And on top of that, the hosts were arguing in front of guest….very unprofessional. I have had way better tea experiences elsewhere for less. Don’t waste your money.

Celebrated the kids birthday and she was over the moon with the assortment and the kids theme. Having done plenty of high teas before, I thought the menu was a little less on the savory items and over indexed on the desserts. Maybe a blend of both would have been awesome

The food was amazing! We had a vegan tea and a non vegan and both food options were incredible. Delicious tea cakes, scones (even vegan clotted cream) and desserts.

The experience was amazing from start to finish. Our server was fun and attentive. She took time to explain each part of the tea and checked on us the perfect amount. We loved every minute!

This was such a unique and fun experience, both for the tourists and the native Brits in our group. The food was absolutely delicious and easily customizable for all the different dietary needs in our group. The music was a little loud where we were seated, but we asked to turn it down and were kindly accommodated. I would definitely recommend this as a very fun experience, well worth the cost!

This is the one for afternoon tea, if you’re looking for value for your afternoon tea with the unique environment excellent food, and you will be full when you finish. We researched an anguished over this decision and we are so glad we pulled the trigger on this one, party of five one with a gluten allergy, one senior adult and two preteens, great memory. Stop searching and book, no regrets.

We had a fantastic experience overall. I was a little sceptical having seen quite a few negative reviews online. But it was great ! We had booked a Vegetarian Afternoon Tea for 4. The ambience and presentation was excellent. Only a couple of minor points were that the food took a bit of time to come to our table (and our 2 children were just getting restless). Also, they charged for the Still Water bottle without informing us that it was on a chargeable basis. It was a minor amount of GBP6, but this should have been conveyed to the customer beforehand, especially as we had already paid a substantial amount for the entire Tea experience, and we obviously assumed that it was included in our package. Rest apart, all of us enjoyed it thoroughly!

The hostess was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive. The sandwiches excellent . The sweet stuff too sweet. The scones superb.

Beautiful courtyard with Alice theme place settings. Good selection of savoury sandwiches and very heavy in the cakes. The scones were delicious! Lovely touch of a birthday cake for the birthday girl too. A lovely afternoon, thank you.

This was our second time at the Mad Hatters. First time in 2022 was very nice. This time not as much. Food was not as creative and was a little less tasty. Service was still great.

What a beautiful setting for an afternoon tea! Love the Mad Hatter theme, plates, food and even costumes for your kids. Delicious tea, our favourites were Alice and The Mad Hatter. We found the sandwiches a bit too cheesy for our taste but beautifully done. The scones were amazing and the strawberry cheesecake heart was one of our favourites. So many yummy treats, you don’t leave hungry!

Overall a great experience. Service was exceptional. Food delicious. Music level 4/5 Although outside in the courtyard, you were well protected from the elements and the heaters really did warm the place up. Had to be turned off haha. Lovely time and my Mum loved it x
