Called in for some lunch & asked about Gluten free, Waitress said they had Gluten free bread, My wife is a Coeliac, We watched the waitress right down Gluten free, When the sandwiches came out served by clearly by the lady that made them we double checked, She immediately took them away, when She returned she said sorry with a grin on her face and made some excuse about not noticing it on the order, I asked her if she had any idea how ill she would have made my Wife had she eaten the original sandwiches, she was enraged at this and said " I have said sorry if that is not enough you can do one", To serve allergens to someone with an allergen intolerance can Kill, This women is totally irresponsible

We witnessed an elderly lady being spoken very rudely by a young male member of staff when she approached him about her lunch. He was quite loud and would not let the lady speak he just spoke over her. Not something you want to see or hear whilst having your lunch. Will not be returning. Not respect for the lady or the customers in the cafe equally.

Wanted somewhere to have something to eat and found this place, good selection of meals both hot and cold and a vast array of drinks for sure available both for adults and children. We opted for Ploughman's Salad and steak and ale pie. Both dishes were very well presented and the pie was very rich with big chunks of steak in it. Salad good section on it. Hit the spot which was good and good value for money.

I wanted a cream tea and what a disappointment this place was. £7.95 for a tiny scone, cream, jam and tea. If youre going to charge that much you should be providing something better! They've put so many tables in there, it's very cramped and busy. Disappointing.

Ordered a meal for my granddaughter which was absolutely fine. On the other hand I ordered a cream tea, which turned out to be a very thin scone. The top half was OKish, but when I bit into the bottom half it was hard as a rock and very crispy. I told the young waitress about it but nothing was done. On paying my bill I was charged full price and not even an apology

Struggled to find somewhere to have a late lunch as we were walking round Dartmouth as a lot of eating places seemed to be shut. In the end we were glad we did, as it meant we came to Mad Hatters. There were 4 of us in the group and we all had cream tea which we all really enjoyed. It was nicely presented and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful and happy to have a chat with people. There was a large selection of cakes and we decided to take a couple of these home with us. They were delicious as well. Dartmouth is a nice place anyway but Mad Hatters is worth a visit all on it's own. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We called in here while visiting Dartmouth on one of the most rainiest days we've had since visiting Devon. Mad Hatters does a wide range of cakes and flapjacks and has a nice cosy feel to it. We ordered tea, coffee, and hot chocolate as well as coffee and walnut cake and chocolate fudge cake. All we're very good and the cakes are generous enough to share.

Mad Hatters Tea Shop is fab, good food, friendly and efficient staff, reasonably priced and quite quaint In it’s own way. We visited twice during our holiday in Dartmouth and both times were excellent. It is not a huge place but they are well staffed, The staff are very helpful, very happy to tailor menu items to your specific dietary requirements and take an interest in their customers, they asked to see our daughters art works on our second visit which made her day. The food is very good and plentiful, sandwiches and toastiest are well filled and come with a full side salad, the drinks are of good quality and the cakes, although we didn’t try them because we were full from our lunches, looked absolutely lush and the scones looked delicious and all the people eating them seemed to be enjoying them immensely. I have awarded them four out of five simply because although everything I’ve mentioned was great there were two small points that made our visit not quite perfect, firstly the toilet is up a rather steep set of stairs which I found quite difficult to navigate and there doesn’t seem to be any facilities for any one with a disability to use, and lastly the cold drinks are not refrigerated, they do serve them alongside a glass with a little ice but it didn’t do much to chill our drinks on the hot days we were there and room temperature orange juice isn’t very good on the palette. Other than that Mad Hatters in Dartmouth is a really great place for very good, competitively priced food and fast efficient and friendly service. Special shout out to the chap working at the counter who pointed us in the right direction for a post box , we would never have found it without him.

We were in Dartmouth during the regatta week when unfortunately things can get expensive and cafe/restaurants fill up. We wanted a lunch and came upon The Mad Hatters tearoom. The menu was on a board outside and there was plenty to choose from at reasonable prices. I had a crab and cucumber sandwich and the wife had a sausage bap. They were both delicious. The sausages were from a local butcher and they were excellent. My sandwich came with a side salad and was really tasty and freshly made. Very friendly staff and a large pot of tea. Just what we were looking for.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Mad Hatters looks quaint and inviting on the outside but is a little run down on the inside. Sadly the 'Alice in Wonderland' theme didn't quite hit the mark, with someone only seemingly having a half-hearted attempt at it. On the plus side though, contrary to the experiences of others, the service was actually ok. It was very busy on the day we went, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated and our orders were taken and indeed brought to us fairly quickly. There were 4 of us; drinks all round, 2 sausage rolls, a pasty and chips and a panini cost just over £45. The price was kind of what we expected as it's in Dartmouth. However the food received didn't really warrant the cost. The sausage rolls looked and tasted like they had been heated in a microwave with the tell-tale sign of soggy pastry. The chips were missing from the pasty meal but this was rectified quickly with an apology so no harm done. Unfortunately the pasty also looked like it had been heated in a microwave and the meat inside was dry and chewy. The panini was ok. Overall this was a disappointing visit which was then made worse when we saw the prices for takeaway food. We paid £3.99 for each of the sausage rolls but the takeaway price was £1.99. The pasty and panini were also much cheaper. I know when you sit in to eat there is a standard VAT charge of 20% added, but we paid double which is 100%. That is naughty and the quality of the food received really is not reflected in the price. For that reason I would not recommend eating here.

Absolutely awful! There was a table seated after us but served before us. We were sat in a corner and forgotten about. We had to ask to have our order taken after waiting 15 minutes, food was very low quality, normal bread (not thick fresh good quality and for £11 for a sandwich, you'd expect decent bread atleast) basic side salad, plain lettuce, half a tomato & 2 small piece of cucumber, expensive for the quality. Had to ask for the table to be cleared and the kids ice cream after 20 minutes of waiting. Staff stood around doing nothing, member of staff complaining she was the only one doing anything in front of customers! Not a nice atmosphere, place and certainly not value for money! Sadly, would not recommend or go back.

Popped into this back street cafe tucked away just off the sea/estuary front. I made the mistake of getting a portion of chips as a side. The Chilli Jacket & tuna mayo Jacket came in bowls & were huge! The friendly waitress asked “”Carbs &...

A very busy little tea room, rather hidden away, but with tasty crab and cucumber sandwiches. Service was a little eccentric and slow, but we were not in a hurry. Our pot of tea came after about 20 minutes - minus cups, which we had...

We just popped in for a cream tea and for the money it was good, apart from very average scones - like the sort you get in a supermarket multipack. However apart from that the tea itself was good (Yorkshire) and the clotted cream and...

Truly awful experience. We were a group of 6. The waitress was very nice but wrote each breakfast order in long hand which took an age and three sheets of the waiters pad. First plate came out after 30 mins. The last of our six...

We enjoyed the cream tea - which at £6.99 for two seemed to represent quite good value compared to other cafes in the town. The serving staff were friendly and pleasant, possibly a little disorganised, but apologised for keeping us waiting - and we really...

Firstly I want to start with the positive, the food was lovely. I had cheese and ham toastie, and the people I was with had ham sandwich and a cheese and tomato sandwich. Lovely fillings, nice side salad and coleslaw and the bread was perfect....

Had a lovely jacket potatoe with tuna and salad at a very reasonable price which is a change for Dartmouth as cafes are usually expensive. The latte was also good.

Only booked the Willows due to the majority of other restaurants not taking bookings due to EID week. Easy to make reservations, not as easy to receive customer service or food to be served. 11 meals ordered, only 7 turned up, the female who brought the last couple of meals out to the table asked is that everything, and before we could say “No, we are missing 4 meals” she had already turned around and not waited for an answer. I thought this member of staff may be a let down to the business when we arrived. The young women had no interest in serving our group of 11, looking at us at the bar and then turning away to carry on chatting to 2 construction workers, It was left down to a younger female staff member to take our orders as well as a male member of staff. Both were polite and took firstly our drinks order and then our food orders. Waited an hour for food, only for it to arrive mostly cold, but over cooked, suggesting the food had been overcooked some time ago, only to be served up an hour or so later. As stated at the beginning the rude female staff member served the last 2 meals and then ignored us after asking us if we had everything. After 15-20 minutes I went to the bar to ask where the remaining 4 orders of food where. The same, rude female staff member firstly tried to suggest that we all ordered our food at separate times and that’s why we were still waiting on food. I explained that this was not the case and the woman just shrugged and repeatedly kept replying “I know, I know, I know to everyone of my questions. The woman at no time tried to apologise or offer to chase up the issue with the food and just remained standing at the bar, chatting to people in the pub she was clearly familiar with. After another 2 visits to ask other staff where the missing food was, 2 meals where served a full 30 after the majority of the food was received. One meal was suppose to be fish and chips, the fish was clearly inedible, grossly overcooked to the point it had curled up for at both ends and had almost formed a circle on the plate. Again it was clear the fish had not just been cooked, it looked like a meal that had been ordered several hours before and perhaps someone had also been fed up with waiting and asked for a refund a few hours earlier (this also happened when another family cancelled their meals after waiting over an hour as we where at the bar inquiring where our food was). The fish most likely had been reheated for a couple of minutes and then re-served, it was 100% not freshly cooked. The 2 male staff and manager where very apologetic and eventually offered some of the group refunds, as well as offering my wife, who was celebrating her 50th birthday a bottle of Prosecco. We realise that a lot of things can go wrong in a pub serving food, but was is unacceptable is the female member of staff’s attitude to customers for the whole time we were at the Willows. Not one apology issued from her, not one iota of concerns towards customers, just breezing in and out, chatting to people she clearly knew, sitting at their tables, chatting outside with them, all while the younger girl worked tirelessly covering for her lack of interest and lack of work ethic. What should have been a lovely evening for my wife was soured by the food situation and the food quality, made worse by the lack of work ethic from certain, well one member of staff. We have visited the Willows 3 times in the past 4 months but sadly we won’t be returning in the future. Food poor, customer service was blighted by the woman supposedly working (it was difficult to tell) and only rescued by the professional, understanding male bar worker and the manager.

Very disappointed. Will not visit Blackburn M&S again. No wonder sales are down and branches closing. Watched member of staff stood there watching the doors just look on while 2 mum's were struggling to get through the door, it was almost as though she was laughing!!!!! Went round the food section and the staff were unhelpful and rude.. once of a day M&S had quality staff as well as products. How times have changed. Very Poor

We booked this venue for my partners 40th. They accommodated us to bring our balloon arch and cake more earlier than our party to the venue which was a massive help! I paid a deposit and this includes a private section of the venue for you and your guests and buffet, there is an amount you need to spend behind the bar to get this back, but when you work out prices people spend it was actually amazing value. Even though there was some members of the public in the other sections they were also really lovely. Artisan Cafe and Wine Bar also allow you to book your own DJ/ Music entertainment or you can book their resident DJ for half the price. All in all a fabulous venue that I wouldn’t hesitate to book again or recommend to my friends and family for them book. Staff: Really friendly bar staff behind the bar who gave great service and chatted/ laughed with our guests. Venue: Stylish venue with beautiful decor, in the center of Darwen. It’s ao easy to find and the taxi rank is 2 minutes walk away so me and my partner could really let our hair down Buffet/Drinks: Really tasty food and lots for everyone… we had more than enough left over. They have a great range of drinks and shots behind the bar, they serve lovely Rose wine too! Booking: I spoke with the manager over Facebook messenger and this made it so easy to book at my own pace (as life does get hectic) and the manager was responsive and so friendly. Any questions I had were answered promptly and just the customer service itself gave me confidence in the venue. Overall 10/10 all round! Thanks for a really great night Artisan Cafe and Wine Bar x
