This has changed hands recently and it’s brilliant. We went in for breakfast and it was delicious and so different from the big standard. Cant wait to come for cocktails!

The coffee was nice the cafe was lovely. The place was empty and that’s unusual for a Saturday morning we know why now the gentleman that served us has very strong opinions that in its self is not a bad thing but we feel he didn’t realise he was definitely over stepping. If the gentleman owns the place that’s up to him as it’s him livelihoods but if someone else owns it I would be concerned. We will not be visiting again at least until we know the gentleman has hire some to cover his shift or sold the business as he did say he’s the owner. I don’t like to leave a negative review but i I can’t leave a very positive one. The coffee was good though.

Food and prices very good, the service not so good. My Wife and I went for lunch on the Thursday to check if we could have coffees, teas cakes and bacon cobs etc. as there would be 14 cyclists coming on the following Monday. I was told by the owner that it wouldn't be a problem with 14 of us. I again phoned him on Sunday morning to expect 14 of us on Monday at approx. 11.15. We arrived on Monday on time but only to find he was on his own. (His Mother usually helps out when he's busy.) It took him over 45 minutes just to serve the drinks and he then had to start cooking the bacon sandwiches and toasted teacakes etc. All in all we were there about an hour and fifteen minutes. It's a decent little tea room but let down badly by the slow service. Needless to say we won't be calling there again.

Enjoyed visiting Macy’s for the first time yesterday. There’s obviously a great deal of personal attention paid to the details of this family run cafe. A little gem! Lovely food and friendly service and good value. Have a feeling we’ll be back when passing this way! Also very accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Would recommend a visit here to anyone.

We haven't been to Macys for a while what with COVID and HOGO but called in today. Delightful hosts, fab coffee and the carrot cake was the best we have tasted! I had a cheese and onion scone (warmed up - yummy) and it was delicious. Really reasonable prices and there looked to be a varied selection of dishes if one wanted to have breakfast or lunch there. We will be back!

Very quiet Sunday and I was sat with only 1 other table taken. I ordered a vanilla latte and a BLT ciabatta. The coffee is average, it tastes like it comes out of an automatic machine and not barista made. I couldn’t taste the vanilla at all. The ciabatta came and was very underwhelming. The bacon tasted nice but only 2 small rashers in the bread, which I thought was a rip off for £8. It was supposed to come with crisps but I didn’t get any. The tomato in the sandwich was cherry tomatoes cut up, which they had already put in the side salad, so I thought this was a poor choice from the chef. I mentioned the crisps when i paid the bill, as I wasn’t asked how my food was after it was delivered. He just said I could take a packet of crisps with me. The table next to me left shortly after I arrived and that table sat dirty for the remainder of my time there. I left very disappointed after a mediocre coffee and a very poor sandwich. More care needs to be taken with the customer service.

Called here originally just for a quick coffee as we were early for a planned visit, but after seeing the menu decided we were going to have something to eat. A really good brunch menu. I had predictable full english (and it certainly was), my wife, poached , bacon and mushrooms on toast which was also excellent. Certainly worth a stop if you are in the area.

Went today for lunch with my partner and elderly grandpa. The food was delicious, I would really recommend the Lasagna and the Pie of the day. We had Eton mess for dessert, as all the apple crumble had sold out (must get in there earlier next time). The lady who served us was lovely, and couldn’t have been more accommodating for us with a wheelchair. We sat outside in the courtyard as the weather was stunning. Only slight improvement I would suggest is the garden is a little on the wild side. All in all a really lovely place. Will definitely recommend to others.

We visited the Brasserie/cafe on the 22 Aug 20. On arrival we was shown to our table, while we was waiting for one other to join us. The table was very clean. On arrival of the last person we waited a very long time to place our drink order, we then waited a further long time for them to arrive. On placing our food order we explained that one of our party had a problem with chewing and swallowing certain foods, to which the waitress had a smart arse comment back. When the food did eventually come nearly an hour later. The first dish was placed on the table and the waitress took our cups and teapot away which wasn’t empty. The first meal was a Ham Ciabatta which was fine. However next was the All Day Breakfast which was vile. It was mostly over cooked and poor quality. The bacon was the worst, and they did redo the bacon but it wasn’t much better. Overall it was ridiculously priced for what there wasn’t. Moving on to the scam n chips... WTF..... the scampi wasn’t very hot and the chips were so hard you could have used them to put the windows through. We sent the scamp back and was told that they would not charge us for it, I should hope not seeing as we never had it. On leaving the table to go pay the bill, I tripped on looking down there was some old dirty deflated party balloons and the floor was disgustingly filthy. Old food and dust amongst other bits. At the till waitress gave us 10% discount for the long waiting times... er hello ...... what about the rest of it. DONT GO

Without turning a hair the restaurant catered for our group of 6 on a Saturday night, serving a lovely meal. One of us was vegan and reported that his meal was excellent. One had fish which was also reported as first rate. The rest enjoyed the various meat dishes. However it was the wonderful variety of vegetable accompaniments that were particularly good, as were the desserts. Service was friendly. Very much to be recommended.

I’m took my friend here for a birthday lunch. We ordered 2 potato skins with chicken and pesto filling, two cappuccinos and one halloumi fries. I wasn’t quite sure what to order as it was confusing with a menu on the table which was more breakfast and afternoon tea, food written on the wall that we had to get up and stand to read then another menu beside the till which we supposed was dinner but no-one told us what was what so anyone’s guess really.Anyway, the skins were the driest we’ve ever tried, we struggled to swallow them so I asked for sour cream and told the lady they were really dry and maybe that would help. It didn’t however and neither did she. We gave up after trying to chew through a half a spud skin each, only only persevering as we were starving; otherwise we’d have given up on the first bite.We didn’t get asked how the meal was so I told her as we were paying that we couldn’t eat the skins as they were the driest we’d tried so she said she would tell the chef and that he normally puts butter on them. (I’m not sure what telling him was meant to do to make out poor meal better). She then offered to take 10% off my bill which she said wasn’t much but at least it was something. Gee thanks.Had this been my place I’d have been mortified that someone wouldn’t eat the food and offered to get something else as a replacement or offered a refund for the main course. We left disappointed, still hungry and £18 poorer for two coffees and half a bowl of chips ouch.My friend is a regional manager for a large food restaurant group and I work in hospitality so we are both experienced foodies with good knowledge in the industry and both left disgruntled.

After our evening meal visit, I felt the need to give you some feedback. I hope you can receive it in the spirit is in intended. Just brutally honest feedback. We chose to book an evening at Macy’s Brasserie after considering about 8 other places. Mainly because it’s nearby, and because it’s an attractive little place. It was the last Friday night before Christmas and no-one other than us was in the restaurant between the time we arrived (6:20) and left (8:40). Already not really a good sign.....This place has been on my radar for several years, as its very cute and inviting: nice clean modern rustic decor, and immaculately laid tables. However, what let’s it down are the other, MORE IMPORTANT elements of running a brasserie: service and food. The waitress - who could be the owner for all we know - was certainly very friendly and welcoming but seemed a little scatty (and apologetic) about certain things. Unfortunately, she wasn’t totally sure of the menu, saying that the chef had made it too complicated, and we have to agree:There was a Christmas Menu (12 dishes), a Regular Menu (approx 10 dishes), plus specials menu (approx another 6 dishes). Total dishes 28 - but the place only has 8 tables! This is clearly too many dishes - that’s what Gordon Ramsey would say.One particular dish on the Regular Menu was 80% identical to a dish on the Specials Menu, and, yes, it DID complicate the ordering process - the waitress had to painstakingly point out the similarity, in order to clarify my choice. Chef, why risk the likelihood of that confusion?! In addition, on the specials board, it stated something like: Friday & Saturday nights Regular Menu 2 mains for £19.50. However, THE ONLY 3 mains written on that same board were NOT included in that offer ♀️ Again, why risk causing such confusion?!Secondly, after being presented with 3 different menus, we asked if it was possible to mix and match. Surely we’re not the first people to ask this? But it caused her some uncertainty and she made 2 trips to check with the chef. It then highlighted the confusion of the 2 aforementioned dishes (on 2 different menus) which were 80% identical. Oh dear ♀️................Starter:The parsnip soup was served in a deep square bowl. This didn’t allow it to cool down so, by the time my husband had finished his (flat-plated) starter, I was still burning my mouth on mine! Honestly, WHY ignore the total practicality of a traditional shallow, wide soup bowl? ♀️In fact, forget square bowls and triangular plates all together - they’re a gimmick. they might look stylish but they don’t functional as satisfactorily as the traditional shapes. They reduce the pleasure of eating and just make it awkward! The parsnip soup was served with a MASSIVE swirl of double cream. Given that the soup description did not mention cream then it was an ill-judged assumption to expect such an unsolicited ingredient to be welcome! I couldn’t exactly remove it, could I?!It is also a non-observance of possible dietary sensitivities. The customer ought to have an option on the cream, either by a) asking their preference upon ordering, or b) being given a little jug of cream on the side....................Main:The red snapper was cooked very nicely, but the pommetieres were all black and burnt. The lemon cream sauce was very bitter (like it hadn’t been tasted). I ate the fish but struggled to enjoy the rest.In the assorted vegetables dish, the parsnips were seasoned with lots of pepper. What makes you think everyone likes pepper? I certainly don’t. Surely the salt and pepper on the table is for people to exercise their own preferences?! ♀️Whilst customers are dining, it is in the proprietor’s interest to ask “is everything ok for you?”. She didn’t ask. If she had then we may have told her. Tiny touches are often appreciated, such as: if there’s a candle on the table, then offer to light it. She didn’t offer and - to avoid another awkward, scatty and apologetic moment with her - we didn’t bother to ask. Overall, we had a reasonable evening, just with these SEVERAL disappointing issues which REALLY stood out. ** Issues which can be the difference between a thriving business or a dying business **I realise that this feedback may shock you but, I feel that, if nobody ever tells you these things, then you’ll never get a true reflection of how you’re doing, and then your business will suffer (perhaps not just with ONLY ONE couple on a Friday night , like us, but NO CUSTOMERS AT ALL), and then you will probably see the end of your business. Its not in my interest for you to lose your business (and for it to turn into a charity shop or something). I’d rather it was a well-run, popular place, where it was hard to get a table! We will happily go out of our way to support local businesses, to enjoy their uniqueness, maybe get to know the owners, and to help keep the locality thriving. It is disappointing to see what COULD BE a great business NOT fulfilling its potential. Whatever the reasons for this, I hope things get sorted out. If the above points are taken on board, then I would love to recommend this brasserie to my friends. Overall, it seems like someone within this Brasserie is ignoring the rules of catering, and also refusing to appreciate things from the customers’ point of view.I noticed that most of the TripAdvisor management responses are quite defensive. This ignorance and defensiveness is surely a recipe for business suicide. In summary:SERVICE - organisation & knowledge, light the candle, ask if things are ok. FOOD - a simpler menu; look before you serve burnt food, taste before you serve bitter sauce; & allow the customer a choice (with double cream and pepper)PRESENTATION - ordinary plate shapes, please.Naturally, you may now feel indignant or a bit depressed. However, this detailed feedback is an honest reflection of our experience. Sometimes you’ve got to be cruel to be kind. Liken the business to an animal suffering: either do everything you can to save it, or kill it quickly. Best wishes and a prosperous 2019.

Called in today very impromptu visit and very disappointing. Ordered two lattes, cheese and pickle sandwich , tuna mayo both with chips. After 10minutes wait and serving other customer who came in after us the coffee arrived. Half froth half coffee and quite poor flavour too. Another 20minutes later and sandwiches turned up .. this was after overhearing quite clearly the front of house person asking kitchen staff to remind her of what was waiting to be served to other customers.. .. " that's sausage and mash and that's the mini lamb roast " (should be obvious) but then continued with " I will get on with the sandwiches now but it will be salad cream we've no mayo".. It sounded like the two kitchen staff clearly had issues with the front of house from the gesticulations and glances at her .. Anyway not my concern but sandwich arrives!! Yup it qualified as one. Two slices of medium brown loaf bread I'm sure straight out of the co-op over the road .. bit puttyish.. tuna and salad cream .. same with the cheese and chutney.. chips were poor, cool and soft, didn't seem fresh fried but as if either kept warm or quick micro ding reheat, oh hand plucked out of chip basket was the give away no gloves or tongues. Anyway.. ate it , drank it and when I was asked if all was ok I said actually no .. I was suprised you didn't tell me it was salad cream after your chat .. oh heck off into the kitchen and out comes one of the lady cooks quite enraged and defensive about the accused "Mayogate" scandal.. we dont have salad cream , never have in 9years, would you like to see the mayo tub or look in chiller"? No thanks I'm just telling you what I clearly heard and what was on the sandwich.. "I don't tell lies" was the ladies retort which I only assume she meant quite clearly that I do !! " it's not hellmans, maybe you're not used to the taste of mayonnaise " says front of house lady.. cook returns to kitchen chuntering.. front of house lady "I'm sorry about this I can't get the owner today but can get the owners Mum if that helps".. I thanked her but declined politely and paid in full.. I wasn't expecting nor asked for any discount .. all I was doing was saying I was disappointed to be served something I didn't ask for... no big deal ... wasn't offered a discount in any way shape or fashion or a free coffe on next visit ( I wasn't giving my feedback for one either) but 2 for £10 for sandwich and chips glad I didn't pay non offer price...They won't miss our business I'm sure but I wouldn't recommend to anyone either.

The food is over priced for what you get on the plate. The coffee tastes disgusting ; then I saw the chef/cook go into the co-op in uniform. My meal looked like it was from the co-op but over cooked, and from previous experience I saw the chef/cook fight with the staff. And some vegetarians came in and asked for a vegetarian full English but the didn’t do anything vegetarian. I do hope they improve their service.

I am in the area several times a year and when I am I head to Macy’s generally for breakfast or lunch. This is a lovely, friendly, family run little restaurant. The owners and staff always offer a friendly welcome and the food is all freshly cooked and nicely presented. I couldn’t believe a couple of the earlier reviews about food being ‘slammed in someone’s face’ (a curious expression!) and ‘The Female Boss’ who decided to give Macy’s a try but then during this first time visit seemed to be in full prior knowledge of the catering experience of the owner’s wife. Again ... curious. But I digress .... and returning to my own review I love Macy’s. The food is great, a reasonable price and happy to help with any dietary foibles. Oh yes, and splendid coffee. After going in with my husband for a nice lunch out we decided to give Macy’s a try. Big mistake. The coffee’s tasted like something I could get out of the Costa machine in co-op. The waitress seems like she would rather talk to other staff members than pay attention to customers, felt like it took ages to get our order taken and for our food to arrive especially as it wasn’t busy. The cook was the wife today... this was strange as I’ve never heard of her having any experience in the catering career and you could tell that by the food. Very poor environment I didn’t appreciate hearing the owners overly loud cackle coming from the kitchen every 2 minutes either it got really irritating. Wouldn’t recommended.

After reading elsewhere on the internet about the 1 star food hygiene rating I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try their food. I have to say I was disgusted. The food was cold, stale and upon further inspection seemingly out of date. Tables were sticky, the floors were dirty and I happened to notice a few cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in several places. I found the gentleman who works in the kitchen to be awfully rude and abrupt but none of this prepared me for the horror I found while visiting the toilet. ANTS! Ants everywhere.

My family had booked weeks ago for Christmas lunch on Christmas Eve as our family Christmas meal and get-together and as we had previous experience of the Brasserie we were genuinely looking forward to the meal. Then the day before Christmas Eve a member of staff (not the manager) called us to say we couldn't have Christmas lunch after all as there had been a "miscommunication" between front of house staff and management. I do not see how this can occur as it is a very small Brasserie with very few staff. I had to practically insist that the manager try and accommodate us after the initial staff member just said we could only have normal lunch/light bite/breakfast menu and her attitude left a lot to desire. So things like sandwiches, poached eggs, beans on toast etc for our family Christmas lunch! I was not at all happy and very unimpressed by the poor communication and liaison between manager and front of house staff. After a longish rather frantic telephone conversation due to the distress this circumstance was causing my family, the manager eventually said he would see what he could do because I was insisting they fulfill the booking we had originally made for Christmas lunch. The manager called back to say that the would honour the booking and provide the Christmas lunch as long as we pre-ordered there and then (I.e. they were going to buy the specific items needed then prepare the meal specially). By this time we had lost complete confidence and had found another local restaurant which could accommodate us at short notice which proved to be excellent and actually much better value for money. I'm sure the food is probably very good at Macy's but there are obviously organisational issues which need resolving. It's a pity the customer was so badly affected on this occasion. I would appreciate a response from management.

Brilliant service, excellent food all freshly cooked and the gravy was delicious. Took my granddaughter and baby grandson, very family friendly unlike previous ownership, facilities for changing available also which was a nice surprise, a lot of effort has been made on this place. Many thanks and we will be returning.

We have been to Macy’s several times in the past two years since ownership changed. The food and service has always been good and today was no exception. I had the ciabatta with creamy mushroom topping with rocket and balsamic dressing and my husband had the chicken Caesar burger. The young waitress asked us several times during our meal if everything was satisfactory and if there was anything else we needed. We were very happy with everything and highly recommend. I feel sad that certain individuals find it necessary to leave such potentially damaging negative reviews. The owners and staff obviously work very hard towards customer satisfaction and give every opportunity during the meal to raise concerns thus removing the necessity for nasty feedback on sites such as this!

We had visited Macy’s in the past when it was under different ownership and the food was so good. This was the first time we had been in the evening since it had changed hands and we were so disappointed. The food was unpleasant, it wasn’t well cooked and it didn’t seem fresh. I wouldn’t recommend.

Dropped in at Macys at Navenby with a friend on the off-chance of having afternoon tea. Could not have been friendlier and nothing was too much trouble. Afternoon tea was absolutely amazing served with unlimited tea/coffee. Sandwiches were delicious. Best we have had yet and they even supplied us with a box to take home the cake we couldn’t manage. Fantastic value for lovely. Can’t wait to go back.

We called in for lunch having heard that Macy’s was really good for food. There was a good selection available from the menu and the specials boards and the young lady serving was really lovely. We had a couple of queries before ordering and she couldn’t have been more helpful. We ordered two omelettes (one with salad and one without) and a BLT ciabatta. It took ages for them to arrive and when they did, both were salad-less. This wasn’t a big issue but we really didn’t like hearing the two kitchen staff very loudly discussing the fact that they’d thought no salad had been ordered and going on and on about it. Once that was sorted, they then changed the subject but didn’t seem to have any idea that we could hear every word. It’s only a small café and we all found this very off-putting. My BLT was nice but apparently the omelettes weren’t great- small and a bit rubbery - and they cost £8 each which I thought was a lot for a couple of eggs. We couldn’t fault the young lady front of house, but we left feeling a bit disappointed with the food and the attitude of the kitchen staff, not caring what the customers sitting in the café could hear.

Following a seven mile walk, a friend and I thought we would call at Macy's for lunch. A bit shocked at the prices we both ordered a ciabatta. We expected that they would be heated, mine was Coronation chicken and even the filling was cold. Very disappointed with the food and the cost, but the service was good. Please do not respond with "We always encourage our customers to raise any issues they have with their dining experience when they are there ...", being British we don't like to make a fuss in front of other people.

We attended a small gathering at Macy's for a friends wedding and were greatly impressed with the courtesy, flexibility and friendliness of the waiting staff who really went the extra mile to make it a special day. Despite a few hiccups along the way everything was great and Macy's should be very proud of their staff! Food was lovely and plenty of it, nobody left needing more. Thank you!

This place used to be quite good so as I was in the area decided to go for Sunday lunch.I don't understand how anywhere can change so much in a relatively short time.It wasn't just bad, it was super bad!I can't think of one good thing to say, it's just the most disappointing experience I have had in ages, made worse because it used to be good so expectations were high.

Having never visited the area before my other half suggested this lovely place knowing is serves evening meals Thursdays onwards. The food was superb, having had the belly pork and my other half having the classic sausage and mash both served with a lush thick gravy, wonderfully presented and tasting beautifully! On to desserts.. the Belgian waffle was amazing and the homemade chocolate brownie was well received also. All in all i must visit when looking to dine in a beautiful Lincolnshire village with superb home cooked dishes! Will definitely return!

We asked the very young lady what the Sunday roast was and was advised that it was beef and chicken. I personally don't eat a roast, so opted for the pan fried salmon. We were told we cold have a breast or leg of chicken, which I thought a little strange; a beef and chicken breast were ordered. The starters were fine (chicken skewers, which were tender and the soup was ok, despite it not being homemade). I had to ask for a napkin, as it was missing from the place setting. When the meals arrived, the Sunday roasts looked like those my husband would eat on Monday lunchtime, at a typical builders cafe. There was one slice of over done beef and with very dark potatoes and a ridiculous tiny Yorkshire pudding, resembling something not to dissimilar from an 'Aunt Bessie' range; it was accompanied by stuffing, which is very odd, considering it was supposed to be roast beef. The chicken was worse; no breast, just one slice cut from a whole chicken; something in keeping with what you would serve up for a young child; again with the ridiculously tiny Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. The veg was hot, but was floating in what appeared to be some form of a cream / butter sauce; not really something you would wish to pour gravy on to. We were offered no sauces such as horseradish or anything whatsoever. I was unable to eat my salmon fillet, which was not a fillet, but a side of salmon that had broken into two and was served without the lemon and spring onions as advertised and was sitting on top of a portion of pasta. The salmon was over cooked, with the edges all dry, accompanied by what appeared to be some kind of slither of hardened skin. We were not asked if everything was ok with our meals; it was only upon the second visit to the neighbouring table for clearing, that the young waitress noticed I had stopped eating. I was asked if there was a problem and explained as mentioned above. I also informed her that I would not be paying for my meal and told her not to bring me anything else. It goes without saying that we declined the offer of a dessert, as we had seen a sample of the apple and ginger crumble on the neighbouring table, which did not look appetising in the slightest and further heard the lady in the group comment that there was no ginger in the dessert. We requested the bill and made our way to the counter to pay; we were given some form of a till receipt that purely stated 'food' and a cost alongside; there was no breakdown of the bill whatsoever. I asked the young lady to provide a bill that I could identify with and see what I was paying for. She began to scribble costings on a pad, but was not able to correctly add the amounts together, despite using a calculator; we made the calculation in our head and verified the total amount and paid. Regrettably, we shall not return, which is rather sad, as the location and setting is rather pleasant. The interior is looking rather shabby in places, with stained cushioned seating and it's clear that a facelift is overdue. We sat in the window and saw that the awning was rather dirty and could do with a clean too! Again, rather sad that a lovely little establishment could not find itself in better hands.

My daughter took me to Macy's Brasserie located in the to celebrate my birthday. Despite being mid-week lunchtime almost all tables were occupied, fortunately we had pre-booked. The style of menu has changed and bears no resemblance to that of the previous owners. All courses were beautifully cooked and beautifully presented and greatly enjoyed by my daughter and I. I would like, via this media, to thank Kay (new owner) and her staff and of course my daughter for a lovely birthday.

We had heard so many good things about this place but unfortunately left feeling very hungry and disappointed.Myself, my partner and baby were in Navenby on Saturday 1st July, we called in at 11:30am to enquire if a booking was required for lunch, we were informed by the waitress that it would be fine to walk in for food in around an hours time.We arrived back at 12:30pm after a stroll around the village and a visit to the park, having an inquisitive baby who was ready for her lunch and the weather being warm and sunny we decided a seat outside in the courtyard would be the best option as not to disturb other customers indoors and she could have a little run around whilst we checked out the menu.We waited outside for around 10 minutes before a waitress brought out the menu, after deciding on our order (afternoon tea and a small dish from the children's menu) another 15 minutes passed before she returned to take the order. 30 mins from the time of ordering passed by and still no sign of any food, by this point baby was getting very hungry and agitated, we enquired how long the food would be, it took another 15 minutes for the waitress to get back to us informing us they only had one chef on and they were struggling.More time passed and we enquired once again, to which the waitress didn't return, we gave it another 15 minutes and decided with our hunger and certainly that of the baby who at this point was starving that we had to move on, we couldn't wait any longer, we vacated the table and walked back through the restaurant, we saw the embarrassed waitress who we informed we were leaving and our reasons why, she really didn't know what to say but 1 hour 25 minutes seemed excessive for there still not to be any food at the table, unfortunately we had to take a drive to Lincoln and ended up at KFC as it was the first fast food restaurant we stumbled upon and we needed something for the little one sharpish as by this point her regular lunch was over 1.5 hrs late and she was struggling to keep it together!Unfortunately we cannot comment on the quality of the food as we never got the opportunity to try any, the two stars is all we can give for the poor customer service received, it would have been prudent for the staff to keep us informed of the delay due to one chef (not our fault) as we would have moved on, the timescale was excessive to not receive any food for two adults, never mind with a bored and hungry baby!We would like to return at some point in the future to try the food, hopefully the wait wouldn't be so long!

We live locally. My husband and I have not returned to Macy's since our last meal under the previous owners. We had to return un cooked chicken twice to a very bolshy chef. ( the owners son ). This really put us off. However tonight we decided to try it as it is under new management. We were the only people in , it was early tho, 7pm. We choose our meals from the special offer menu. Two courses and a glass of wine for £20 per person. I had to write this review to spread the word Macy's is a great place to eat. The atmosphere was lovely , comfortable and clean. Crisp white table clothes. The service was excellent and the food was well cooked and presented with care. My view is that maybe the name should be changed to reflect the new owners and to show,to those that don't know, that it is under new management. I would advise all locals to give this a try. You won't be disappointed. We definitely will be back. It's great to have this lovely place on our door step.

Lovely and clean place. Disappointing afternoon tea though. Sandwiches were nice but very cold and clearly just out of the fridge. Scones lovely but the cakes were a real shame, plentiful but 3 heavy sponges, the carrot cake was hard and far from fresh, a soggy rhubarb sponge and some sort of brownie that although tasty was so solid it was difficult to swallow. The waitress was very lovely

I've been to Macys twice in the last couple of weeks. First for breakfast. I have to say this is one of the best English breakfasts in the area. It's not cheap at £9.95 but it's so much better than anything else around. Great eggs. Great bacon. Service is a bit slow but it's worth the wait. There are other things on the menu like porridge and eggs Benedict. Second visit today for lunch. Excellent choices on the chalk board but we opted for the special on ciabatta with chili and avocado and poached eggs and in a recurring theme - bacon! It was really good and at £7.95 good value. The only thing that spoiled the visit was £3.50 for a can of coke. I get restaurants must mark up drinks but a 60p can for £3.50 was just too much. I'll be back but I might try to sneak in my own coke!

To start with, I've been attending Macy's on a monthly basis, as myself and the owner run a book club together here. The coffee, or wine as we now seem to indugle into, is gorgeous, and the homemade scones/cakes are delicious. I can't not help myself to a cake when I'm there.Today, I finally attended to try out the food. Now, I am not at all biased with co-running a book club here, but my oh my the food is absolutely to die for. The butternut squash soup was so thick, and had just enough kick to it. The salmon was cooked to perfection, it was accompanied with some Bulgar Wheat- and I was pleasently surprised given I had never tried this previous.Of course a bottle of wine was needed, and I am more than happy to reccomment the shiraz.I'm a little dissapointed I didn't get to sample Pete's cooking - however Kirree cooks some delicous food, and I'm sure I'll be back to both sample Pete's and eat another lovely meal by Kirree.Macy's is a beautiful, clean and well presented shabby chic place, with plenty of art and other bits and bobs that can be purchased there too. There's also always events going on, which I can't wait to attend. One of my favourite places.

My Mum had a goats cheese tart which she said was also very good. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff welcoming. My only criticism on reflection would be the bill seemed a little steep at £38 for a single course lunch with a soft drink and a coffee each. Having eaten here a number of occasions we are disappointed that today's lunch was far from what we would expect. Service was mediocre and slow. My tea was barely luke warm on arrival (10 minutes wait). Half an hour wait for the food to arrive and no acknowledgement from the staff of this. We had drunk our drinks by the time food had arrived, no offer of further drinks or condiments when food arrived. We would have happily raised this with staff at the time but no one checked in with us about how are food was, even on paying. What was most concerning was as I had a view of the kitchen from my seat, I saw a member of staff eat a piece of toast from a plate just cleared from a table. Such a shame things have slipped so much from what used to be a fantastic brasserie.
