This is the best fish and chip shop (with the most varied menu I have seen in any fish and chip shop) The most amazing chips are coated in what seems to be a very light batter. The online ordering is easy to use. I have always found the staff to be helpful and courteous even when the shop is very busy. Thank you Greg and Lou and please keep up the amazing puddings.

Lovely food, hot and plenty of choice, including vegetarian options. Will be back ! Chips came in three sizes which was great.

OMG, we sat in the restaurant and ordered large fish & chips as you do, they were absolutely beautiful, large fish over the plate, beautiful chips, nice and hot too, excellent service, very clean can’t beat that, definitely worth going back.

Best chippyaround here *(and further) for value, service and quality. Food is beautifully cooked, and there is a choice of locally landed seafood on the menu. Chips are crisp but not dry... melt in the mouth. Puddings are satisfyingly tasty and filling. Staff are friendly, polite and helpful. Management go out of their way to look after customers. The Web pre-order system means you never need to wait. The service area and counters are kept spotless and uncluttered. The equipment is clean and modern. Highly recommended. Absolutely 1st class. Ordered for the family including cod, chips, cod roe, sausage in batter, curry sauce... the food was fresh, tasted amazing, we are really impressed. Having tried the rest (including Porthtowan) for several years, we were always disappointed. So this was refreshing. Greg & Lous beats the rest by a mile. I saw Greg & Lou's chip shop on Cornwall Live as one of the top chip shops in Cornwall as rated by the public. We will NOT go anywhere else now. The food is really good. The staff are lovely. I have to admit I normally avoid visiting this takeaway, it has never been to my taste however my partner called in and picked up fish and chips on a Wednesday evening. He didn't have to wait, he brought them home and they were still hot. Half way through i asked him where he had got them from when he told me I was very surprised! We both throughougly enjoyed our meals, nothing like how I remembered it. Needless to say I will not be avoiding in the future.

How is it possible to improve your fish & chips? I have been a customer for just over a year and I am always impressed by everything about Macks. The fish & chips really are the best I can remember. There is often a queue but this is indicative of the popularity of the place and anyway, the staff react swiftly to get everyone served really quick. The girls are always quick to take my order and are always very pleasant and personal as is the owner, I believe, a lady called Lou? She is a dream, always has time for a greeting and a lovely smile. So in answer to my question, it’s not possible to improve. Well done.

We hadn't had fish and chips from here in a long while, mostly because there is usually a queue whenever we've thought of getting them and neither of us likes queueing.

Fantastic food - freshly cooked to order and tasted lovely. Fast, friendly service despite there being twelve of us and some not being able to decide what to eat! This place is now a firm favourite with us.

I placed a telephone order which was excepted as I only have a 30 minute lunch break, when I arrived and asked for my order the staff member told me they were busy and I'd have to wait for possibly 30 minutes! Obviously I didn't have time for this so had to rush around the town for another supplier. If you cannot fulfil your orders don't take them! Very unprofessional! The quality of my replacement food was exceptional so will not be returning.

This place use to be a Firm favourite of my father's and the family but unfortunately over the last 12 months this place has gone downhill massively!

We have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times but mainly fish and chips to take away. We sometimes order in advance. The chips have a crunchy coating and stay like this for ages not like the limp or stale chips you get in some shops. The batter on the fish stays crisp and the fish is always fresh. We usually have a coleslaw and that is really nice and creamy. We travel five miles each way to Macks and wouldn't do this if it wasn't worth it.

This is such an amazing chippy. The chips are super and the portions are massive. Their menu is extensive and has a good selection for vegetarians. Also has its own parking which makes it super convenient.
