Visitamos el domingo por la noche, no necesita reservar, era bastante tranquilo. Informado de las ofertas especiales, buena selección de comida en el menú menú infantil. Pan de Ajo para los niños, pedimos salchichas con puré de patatas y hamburguesa y n fichas del menú de niños, la gran hamburguesa/patatas fritas, el jalapeño queso se derrita y el pollo fajita hamburguesa, pinta de cerveza fría, vino de la casa de cristal y refrescos para los niños. Y Chic brownie tarta fudge y helado para el postre.

Estuvimos aquí hace tres años para una bebida. Parecía "on the up", con un gran olfato gerente del bar. Así que cuando un amigo me invitó a unirse a él para una comida de Groupon allí el domingo 31 de enero, me estuvieron de acuerdo. ¡Por Dios! Al llegar me di cuenta de que la puerta estaba sucia con envolturas de cigarrillos y otra camada, como era necesario barrido. En su interior, la música era tan alto que era imposible mantener una conversación. Aunque habíamos reservado, la señora de detrás de la barra nos dijo que el chef había dejado por la noche. Ella llamó el director y confirmó que, aunque sabía que habíamos reservado para venir a comer, nos la mandó el chef casa y a la izquierda. Durante la llamada, yo busqué - el olor a tabaco era inevitable, los suelos estaban pegajosos, la televisión era en con el sonido, a pesar de la música. El plomo de extensión tapaba la planta de una máquina de juegos que apagaban. Nos ofrecieron nada a modo de compensación, y al salir de la puerta estaba bloqueado con tres fumadores, así que mi chaqueta era casi quemada por uno de sus cigarrillos. Sin duda, un bar en decadencia terminal.

Compramos una oferta de Groupon para una comida para dos personas en esta ubicación. Y luego cogimos el Groupon en el servicio de reserva en línea para reservar una mesa en 1930 horas los domingos por la noche. debidamente llegó a tiempo y me dijeron que su chef se van a casa. Ninguna señal de alguien más en la zona de comedor. La camarera entonces nos registramos el libro y nos confirmó que nuestra reserva era en efecto registrados para esa noche. Entonces ella llamó el director y después de hablar con él me transmitió que nuestras opciones de contacto Groupon y pide un reembolso por nuestro bono o teléfono para volver otra vez y se disculparon diciendo que parece que el chef daba a nuestra reserva. No sé qué tiempo que normalmente sirven comida pero hasta 1930 en la noche no parecen particularmente tarde (fuimos a otro bar después de esto donde la comida se servía hasta 2100). Las instalaciones también parecían negligencia, que necesitan una buena limpieza y no especialmente acogedora. Pocos clientes dentro de los fumadores y una apiñan parado inmediatamente fuera de la puerta principal que permite fumar para que llegara a la zona del bar. Fuimos a un pub cercano donde disfrutamos de nuestra comida - objeto de un examen independiente y se cancela el bono de Groupon hoy - no regresaré a Mackenzies.

Mi marido y yo fuimos para un rápido bocado y pinta en un sábado a la hora de la comida. Lo primero que me señaló como entramos en era que había un desastre completo dentro de la puerta principal, colillas a tejados asquerosos llenos y basura por todas partes ... Continuó en sin embargo y se sentó en una pequeña mesa en la cima ... Las mesas y claramente no había sido resuelto / limpiado desde la noche anterior, sal todo el lugar, pegajosas y necesitaba una toalla. Nos cambiaron a otra mesa lo que le da al lugar el beneficio de la duda como pensaron que podrían ser atrasados obra: acabar bien o algo así. De todos modos, pedimos menús y también fueron cubiertas con tierra. Ya sé, ya sé, probablemente debería haber dejado en este punto pero yo estaba hambriento ... Pedí el pollo frito sur Burger y mi marido tenía el tocino y queso hamburguesa ... Bollos encantadores de brioche, bonita zona de col y patatas fritas caseras ... Nada decepcionante sobre la comida. Ambos disfrutamos mucho, así como nuestra pinta. Podría haber quedado más tiempo pero sólo era sucio así que decidimos ir a otro lugar. La camarera y barman en impuestos podría haber rápidamente se acabó todo el año y limpiado ya que había sólo un puñado en el bar y me hubiera marcado 4 quizás hasta un 5 ya que la comida era genial, pero este lugar necesita un buen fregado.

Visited this bar for an evening meal not long before it opened. The food was delicious. Good quality home cooking served by people who really care. Given a chance this could be an amazing gem of a place. Good luck.

Food was excellent, notably the pakora haggis. Staff were only too pleased to help. Just a little lacking in atmosphere.

Sólo probamos la comida en Mackenzies. El chef había superado él mismo, la carne en el pastel de carne se derretía en la boca y el pescado y patatas fritas era tan fresca se podía oler el aire del mar. Los postres eran increíbles. Maravillosa comida a un precio increíble. No puedo esperar a ver qué cambios están haciendo que el pub!

Paré aquí hoy para un almuerzo rápido ya que había sido recomendado por un amigo

having purchased a groupon voucher for a three course meal for mackenzies in davidson mains edinburgh, we thought it was another branch of mackenzies at colinton in edinburgh, however after finding out they are seperate venues, we had a very enjoyable meal from a set menu, my husband had the steak pie as a main while i had the steak, it was very well presented and the portions very generous, i could only manage an ice cream for afters and my husband enjoyed his sponge pudding very much, even without a voucher deal we will definately be back, full marks to the chef and the delightful waitress who was very bubbly and nothing to much trouble.

We went to MacKenzie's on Saturday for a quiet meal using a Groupon. We've been many times both using Groupon and paying full cost. The staff have always been extremely friendly and the food is delicious. Portions on the large side, including when using Groupon. The Beer Garden/kids play area outside is fantastic. It's great being able to go out for meal/drink to somewhere that welcomes kids, which is very rare in this Country. Can't recommend MacKenzie's enough. Will be back again soon.

Been here a few times and food really good. Owner made a huge effort for kids after gala day which was great. Just needs a bit more atmosphere in the bar, maybe the TV off at times or in just one area as tends to dominate.

My wife took me to dinner for my birthday at Mackenzie’s bar and I have to say that it was one of the best meals I have had in Edinburgh. We had a Groupon deal so the selection was limited however the food was impeccable and the server (Denise I think) was great and did not write the order down and got everything right. My steak (medium rare) was cooked to perfection and the portions for both of our meals were large. The atmosphere was pleasant, the place was clean and well looked after. I would defiantly recommend Mackenzie’s to all and will make this our regular night out location.Regards,A Very Satisfied Customer

called mckenzies Saturday to try and book a table and they were happy to let us visit same day, but they did inform me that I should of called 2 days before the day, barmaid very polite and informative giving us all the options so sat down and looked at menu, not many options on for groupon but we did expect that, we both opted for bruschetta, which it was not, it was garlic bread with chopped tomatoes on top, so it was soggy as it wasn't toasted, i opted for the rib eye for my main which was meant to be medium rare but tasted like a old bit of liver as it was well over cooked my partner went for a steak pie but the gravy was thin and tasteless.they new I didn't enjoy my meal as I left the steak and just ate the salad and chips, they explained that they were giving a trial to a new chef and give me a pint free of charge, my advice is to swerve the pub until they get a proper chef in!!!

Dear Management...what can I say?! I'd love Karen to see the CCTV from that night when you recall 'I got very drunk!' but I'd bet a lot of money ( and I'm not a gambler) that the CCTV would be miraculously unavailable! You also respond to my review that your chef hasnt actually left yet respond to the next review that you have a new chef coming on board?? Hm.

Booked this through Groupon, we both had rib eye steaks, cooked to perfection, Staff friendly. We went on a Sunday, not particularly busy. The place was very clean. We will definitely be back. Could not fault the place at all.

ordered through groupon what a waste got there surly barmaid said we could have a table up the back of the dining area there were about 6 folk in the place so up the back of the dump we went I got this as a nice wee change and night out for my partner I was so embarressed the food was dire it looked like I got a plate of someone elses leftovers my partners was so tired and dry he ate most of it out of politeness I left most of mine - never again! daft jamies rules. we were in and out in less than 40 mins, don't believe the good reviews honest its crap food.

this was a friendly gastro pub, we were just looking for somewhere to get a quick bite to eat. I had the Jalfretzi curry which was lovely, my boyfriend had the fish, he wasn't mad crazy about it but the fish itself was nice just not the batter. Good value for money.

Myself and my friend went for dinner at the weekend after reading the rave reviews in the papers about their new chef they had. Don't be fooled, their great chef has left and the food that was served to us can only be described as awful. The clientele has also not improved and coupled with the twenty year old 'Elvis tribute act' that we had to spend £3 per head to 'tolerate' this act if you chose to sit in the 'lounge' area of the bar was a joke! Would I ever set foot in the place again... That's an easy one-NO!

Went to mackenzies bar with my hubby and children. We had a groupon offer for a Sunday lunch. Our meal was lovely. We both had chicken with mash, roast potatoes, carrots and Yorkshire pudding. The chicken was fantastic. I asked and they make evening on site. My little one had a pizza from the children's menu. I think maybe the next time we will order him a sunday lunch. He tried mine and really liked it.The staff were really great. So welcoming. Was a real pleasure and will go back again soon.

We visited with another family; there were 8 of us in total. This is a nice friendly local pub. The food served was traditional pub food and was very nice indeed. The staff were pleasant and friendly and more than happy to accommodate the kids. A nice relaxed atmosphere and good value for money. Would recommend.

My Husband and I have visited Mackenzies on several occasions, the food it of great quality and great value for money. The owners, Brian and Karen go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable and they are always keen to gain your feedback to help improve future visits.This is a brilliant place to go in the Summer as it has an excellent outdoor area, it's not just a normal Beer Garden, it's got true character with comfortable seats and a Kids Play Area, its even got a Santa's Grotto during the festive period. What more could you ask for!!!!!

Had a meal about a week ago in mackenzies, Lovely pub, what a change in the place, the food is to DIE for, reccommending to all my work mates and will see you the brilliant staff again soon.

This was the 3rd time we had eaten here. We have enjoyed the food each time. On this occasion we had booked for the tribute night which advertised a 3 course meal along with the ticket. Unfortunately the meal option was withdrawn prior to the night however we decided to eat from the menu. Our table had steak pie which was really tasty and also a steak which was cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and prompt and overall good value for money. The tribute night was good fun. This is one of our locals and we will def be back for food again.

Monday evening. Took friends there for a special meal. Restaurant was empty. Menu seemed fantastic. Food arrived and starters were acceptable just. My chicken curry was edible.My two friends said they enjoyed their scampi. My daughter ordered a mixed grill. it was not edible. Smelled awful, and because she did not want a fuss I bagged it for my dog and she left hungry. On the way out, I mentioned this to the lonely barman/waiter who seemed not to know what to do. Asked to speak to Manager and all I got was a promise for a main meal for her some other visit.Sorry MacKenzies, I wanted to give you a great review and recommend you to everyone since I live and work nearby. However, I left feeling very let down and know that my daughter will never return for that promise sadly. Even my dog turned her nose away from it.Where was the management ? I would have loved to discuss my problems rather than broadcast them!
