Friendly and busy restaurant in the heart of Little Portugal, Stockwell. Big portions of well cooked Portuguese food, cheap but quality wine, attentive staff and good value all round. Fish stew massive and excellent. Two big screens distract the locals who burst into excited cheers when Benfica or Sporting Lisbon score.

Not an excessively large venue, however sufficient seating is offered in both front & back rooms. Very friendly staff; the venue exudes a cheerful vibe/ambience; there are also a couple of strategically placed big screens reporting on news/football games. Accommodating to families, couples & singletons alike. The menu offers a good choice of wonderful, wholesome, tasty food – and large portions to boot at very reasonable prices! We both had a large bowl of vegetable soup for starters (a very good choice at that), followed by a main dish - Bacalhau à Brás - to share. We ended up with a doggie bag for our left-overs – and no room for dessert! So, I ended up buying a few Pasteis de Nata custard tarts to take away (and ate afterwards) – as you really can’t beat this traditional Portuguese pastry!

Arrivato per l'ennesima volta a Londra mi sono fermato con amici in questo accogliente locale tra le fermate di Stockwell e Vauxhall della metropolitana. Deliziose specialità portoghesi, atmosfera rilassata e informale. Conto onesto.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

The place is so authentic that once you step in, you forget you are in England. You hear Portuguese as most customer and the whole staff are from there; the TVs are always playing football matches, people are loud and one of the waitress speaks little English. If you can accept this, be prepared to be rewarded with some of the best seafood and fish you can get in London for an unbelievably cheap price! I eat here once a month. Be warned: the portions are huge; order little and then, in case, order more.

My friend and I went to the Wharf, for lunch yesterday. It was a terrible experience. We ordered fish and chips, and steak and chips. The steak arrived first, and sat on the counter by the till as both waiters struggled to identify who the dish should go to. To put this into context, there were three occupied tables, including us. When they worked out it was for my friend it was brought over. We queried if it was still hot, the waiter responded with annoyance saying that of course it was. We countered saying we had watched it sit on the side. He said, ‘yeah, for less than a minute’. On we ploughed. We said ‘well, we’ve looking at it for 5 minutes, on the counter over there’. His response? ‘No you haven’t’. I then asked him to not argue with me. His response? ‘I’m not arguing’. Oh the irony. My friend asked for it to be taken back, and he grudgingly agreed. The same bit of meat returned 5 minutes later, and the only change was it was 5 minutes colder. She asked for another steak freshly cooked. My meal then arrived, which I ate alone. My friend’s meal arrived 15 minutes later, and it was finally hot and she ate it. However, she has texted me this morning that she started vomiting overnight. Presumably due to the meal, as she started feeling unwell once she was home and didn’t eat dinner. Have I mentioned the surly waitress who ignored me, then rolled her eyes repeatedly when I asked for condiments? Yeah, not a winning team. I suggest you don’t go there when there are loads of other options along the South Bank.

I just wanted to thank the staff at Coach and Horses Clapham for always making me feel like a valued customer. Each time I’m there, whether it’s to drink and watch sport or wine and dine, everyone goes above and beyond their call of duty to see that our every need is catered for. The management and staff are all amazing, and always offer the very best deals at reasonable prices. I’m compelled to keep going back as I can’t get enough of the quality customer service I always receive. Thanks ever so much for making me feel special with the exceptional attention you continuously shower on me and especially today with the warm welcome, great hot food, buzzing atmosphere, the camaraderie and intimacy. I appreciate you so much so that when I come I never want to go home. Thank you ever so much for being you and all that you do. And special shout outs to Jedi Dom Ellie Michael and Charles for going the extra mile to ensure our visit was a remarkable one. We will come again and most definitely recommend to family and friends. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 You’re simply the best. 👌💫🥇

I am back dear followers! One artist, one objective and one love: enjoying memorable experiences around the jaw dropping Central London! Do you wonder where to go when fancying a posh British style dinner inda City, perhaps with your date?? Well, try this place but be careful with it. First of all, watch out for the host Katy. She looks so pretty and pleasant that you couldn’t see her mean manners coming. She brought me to a little table placed exactly in the middle of the restaurant, which was quite empty considering that was quite early (around 5 pm). Asking to move to the side due to my shyness she went quite nuts, saying that yes, a table was available but just until 7:30 pm. Thinking that more than 2 hour eating are enough, I decided to accept the mean offer of the scary host. Going ahead, I dared to order a classic burger with bacon with her. Looking at me with angry eyes, she asked me if I wanted it “just” with bacon. Well, I thought, do they offer just a bun and a slice of bacon in the menu in this place? Quite odd but brilliant, I thought. Having a look to the menu, I pointed the cheese burger with bacon. Wrong move. The host got really mad saying that that one was another burger. ‘That is fine,’ I replied shaking, ‘I’ll have it’. The burger was delivered quite quickly. It was okay. The atmosphere is quite romantic and the design of this place is absolutely lovely. Also, if you do not pay too much attention to the terrible sound made by the train up there it is also quite pleasant to dine! You will be deciding if you would come back…or not! Have a lovely night followers!
