Macdonald Leeming House in Eden

Honestly the location of this place is fantastic, the gardens are great and the walk down the lake is awesome. However.... The place could do with a lick of paint and the food here was nothing short of weatherspoons quality with a higher price tag.... Staff were spot on with us and we had a great time... Definitely sort the food out though 👍🏿

This was our second visit last time the staff were top notch on this occasion they gave the impression that they were ther for there wages only

We had a great stay at Leeming House, our room was really lovely with a beautiful view of the lake, really nice and clean, the staff are all very friendly, everywhere was nice and warm in communal areas and in our room, we really enjoyed our day and we thought it was good value for money we had a Macdonald hotel voucher, enjoyed our three course dinner with a bottle of wine

We stayed here over New Year in this stunning property. We were greeted by a charming and incredibly helpful young man at check in. The room was beautiful with patio doors opening out onto the grounds with views of the lake, must mention extremely comfortable and large bed! We had New Years Eve dinner and breakfast the following morning in the restaurant, both of which were excellent. Unfortunately the fireworks were cancelled due to the horrendous, torrential downpours all day and night (though I don’t feel the hotel can be held responsible for the weather). New Year’s Day, with much better weather, we explored the grounds down to the lake which were simply stunning! In all, we highly recommend this hotel. The staff, the service, beautiful sitting rooms with roaring open fires to enjoy leisurely drinks by, excellent food, grounds reaching to the lake!! We will most definitely be staying here again!! Thank you.

Staff amazing They made the stay! Food was average on the whole - breakfast was good though A chicken leg as a main for a Christmas break was very disappointing.

Wonderful afternoon tea. Every single item of food was delicious. From the scones to the sandwiches and everything in between. You will not be disappointed. The service was excellent and we had a never ending supply of tea and coffee!!!

4 days & 3 nights at Mc Donalds Leeming House. 8th -11th December 2024 Wow.....we absolutely loved Leeming House...!!!! Set in stunning 22 acre grounds...walk from the hotel, through the tree lined grounds to the magical Ullswater Lake's edge. Arrived Sunday & left Wednesday...it was that special we left a bit of our hearts there...stunning setting, hotel full of character & charm... the living room log fire as welcoming as the staff & a special mention to Chef Connor....superb food...thank you so much! The room was very special...with a double balcony to boot, the large bed the most comfortable we have ever slept in & a hot tub to soak our weary bones in! We will definitely return & reclaim our hearts...& without hesitation we recommend this magical Lake District retreat! James & Leanne* (from Bedfordshire & *South Africa).

Location was perfect and views were very beautiful . Staff very friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast was delicious. We will certainly go back again. Nice clean hotel.

My visit was September 2024. The receptionist was unfriendly and unwelcoming. The room we had was on the first floor. There wasn't a lift and no one at reception to help with taking our luggage upstairs. The room was acceptable, though the hotel was a bit mean with the teas and biscuits. There was a low hanging chandelier which could have caused an accident to any visitors over 5'8". When I pulled up the windows, the frames were dirty, dusty and spidery. The flat roofs were in need of weeding. The bathroom was dirty. The grouting around the tiles was filthy and mouldy. The sealant was clumsily applied. The fittings were falling off. The doors were discoloured and dirty. The breakfast was just OK, not much choice. The full English was more like the half English. Some choices, mostly the vegetarian options, were at an extra charge. Overall, it was far too expensive and extremely disappointing.

This is not the first time we have stayed at the MacDonalds Leeming. A quiet, beautiful and tranquil Lake District setting, this MacDonalds hotel with its friendly, attentive staff, excellent food, clean and spacious rooms is our go to place when needing a recharge.

We thoroughly enjoyed the location of the hotel it is indeed a beautiful spot. Both the public rooms and our own room were very nice. A high spot for us was your staff who were all friendly, helpful and professional. They are a credit to you. Our only issues are with regard to the food which I have commented on below.

Beautiful hotel, lovely room with balcony and views across the well manicured gardens with stunning lake view. Cosy lounges and the food was fabulous, every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Our little dog was welcomed and lavished with attention. I would definitely recommend this hotel

The staff were so attentive and pleasant and nothing was any trouble, this was our fourth visit, some with friends and this last time just the two of us. We anchored the boat on the lake at the end of the garden, thank you

Beautiful spot to stay, wonderful gardens and wildlife in abundance. They work hard to keep a lovely country house a place that many people can enjoy.

We had an issue but the hotel rectified and accommodated us. Pleased that the hotel has improved majorly and is continuing to try in this difficult competitive climate. We had a lovely stay, beautiful surrounds and peaceful location. Special thanks to Bassell on Reception he was really lovely and helpful and to the older gentleman in the breakfast restaurant was really lovely and kind . Only feedback is there wasn’t a working mini fridge available for our room even though there was space for it but reception helped by putting our items in hotels fridge for us Also breakfast charges were a bit extreme £4 extra for a latte if you don’t want tea or coffee and an extra charge on top for toast if you want more. The English / veg breakfast needs revamping but overall can’t fault it.

Lovely, comfortable hotel in the Lake District. The hotel is in a lovely location with lake views. The food was very good, service was excellent and staff were friendly. A touch of luxury for a walking/hiking getaway.

This was our first stay at Leeming House and we will return. Our room was comfortable and clean. The food was very good. We stayed for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant twice for dinner and we could not fault the food. The staff were friendly and efficient. I have read other reviews that refer to the fact that there are tired parts that are in need of redecoration but please don't be put off by that. I can only repeat my comment at the start of my review we will most definitely be up for a return visit. The photo is the view from our window.

Beautiful room overlooking the gardens and lake. All staff were polite and professional. Staff at breakfast were particularly friendly and helpful. Food was lovely with lots of choices within each course. Would definitely come back again.

The experience was very good. The staff were excellent, the rooms were great, and the location idyllic. It was a little cold and wet outside, and the dining room and lounge weren't as warm as they could have been.

Our room was beautiful and all staff go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay.

We had 2 nights at this hotel. Views from our room were stunning. Meals were lovely. Cannot fault Staff. Very pleasant, approachable & couldn't do enough for you. Lovely to see some owners with their dogs too.

Stayed close by and called in for drinks .. Great welcome, fabulous location....service fantastic...will definitely be back on our next visit to Ullswater..

The management and staff are unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. I run courses here all year round and my delegates love it Monica in particular is a delight!
