MA Airfield Cafe in Waveney

My husband and I visited here on the off chance as we were passing by. We are now regular visitors. A lovely warm welcome, Spotlessly clean and the most generous lovely cooked breakfast with a proper cup of Yorkshire tea. Very happy customers 😁

Great food, great staff, excellent value. Worth seeking out for a tasty meal and a lovely atmosphere

It was an ok breakfast, sausages were burnt, but what really put me off were the paper plates....would have been better on proper plates. Latte was made from a sachet and not from a proper coffee machine. Wasn't overly impressed and doubt will return. Nan who took order made several mistakes with the order and overcharged us but did rectify that.

Cafes dont get better than this. Breakfasts are the best un the district - best anywhere for that matter, various home cooked lunch-type dishes too. Absolutely wonderful place.

Had a wonderful breakfast on a very snowy morning, it was fresh, home cooked and everything you wanted on a cold day. Lovely, welcoming staff. Local bacon/sausage/eggs. Definitely recommend.

Eight old Bikers went for a breakfast to this little gem tucked away in the middle of an industrial site. I booked the day before as it is quite small and a table for eight was reserved for us. There is a selection of set breakfasts giving all the options which were all really good and and the consensus was five star breakfast in a three star location. The two ladies were kept really busy as it is obviously popular with the local workforce. there are several cafes in the locality so competition is hot and so was all of the food. A tv on the wall in the corner was a little annoying but we all forgot about it as we tucked in.

Fantastic breakfast would have given 5 stars but no toilet. Down to earth dining good honest food cooked well . Love the paper plates I understand why because they are busy .

The breakfast was very good - a 9 out of 10 - and the price excellent. The one thing that was a bit off putting was the owners (?) sitting in a corner watching you the whole time felt rather spooky - nevertheless we will be returning

We’ve tried Breakfasts in many places in Beccles and this one tops the lot. Lovely big platefuls of delicious eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and plenty of lovely buttery toast. The vegetarians in our family group were just as impressed with the quality of the breakfasts. Lovely big mugfulls of tea and coffee. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who likes a good hearty and well cooked breakfast.

Wednesday mornings is breakfast out with my family day. We discovered the Airfield diner this morning and my goodness it is absolutely the best breakfast around! The food is great quality and perfectly cooked. I had the vegetarian breakfast which included vegetarian sausages AND burger, both delicious. The meat eaters with us were very impressed by the quality of the meat products too, lovely big plate full and real butter on the toast, perfect!

Good choice on food menu & reasonably priced, only had coffee as didn’t know it was there but next time will get food there.

I visited here with my husband for a mid-week breakfast. Neither of us had been before. There is dedicated parking, which is large and spacious. We had no problems getting parked. The cafe is small and there aren't a lot of tables. All tables were taken when we went in, but a lot of these were taken up by solo manual workers in hi-vis who moved to share a table when they saw that we were waiting. Thank you! We went to the counter as we were unsure of the ordering process (no menus on tables). We were given menus and told to take a seat to choose what we wanted and then order at the till and pay. My husband ordered the largest sized breakfast and I ordered the one down from that. I wanted the smaller sized one, but there were no tomatoes on that one so I went with the larger sized breakfast to get the options I wanted. We both ordered a mug of tea and a tap water. The drinks are given to you straight away. I would have preferred them to ask us if we wanted them straight away or with the meal because the breakfast took a while to come out so the tea was tepid and nearly finished by the time the food came out. You put your own milk in at the till point. The breakfasts took a while to come out but it was worth the wait. This is one of the only places in East Anglia that we've found that does tinned tomatoes on breakfasts (I'm a northerner and a breakfast isn't a proper breakfast without tinned tomatoes and lots of juice!). Please don't ever take them off the menu! The toast was delicious. It wasn't just floppy bread like in a lot of places and was lovely and buttery (they butter it in advance of bringing it to your table). My eggs weren't as runny as I would have liked but they weren't rock solid. This was obviously not intentional as my husband's eggs were spot on. The bacon was good bacon but I'd have like the fat either crisped up or removed. The sausages were very nice. The hash browns were my least favourite thing on the plate. I LOVE hash browns on a breakfast. These tasted nice, but just fell apart on the fork so I just had little potato bits all over the plate. I think they needed cooked for longer. The mushrooms were cooked well. The beans were plentiful. There was a large reserved table of mums and babies whilst we were in there. Although it's lovely that they feel comfortable in a cafe like this, I wasn't very impressed to see them sitting small babies on the table. The tables weren't wiped between diners due to it being pretty much one in / one out and the thought the table where I am eating food on having a poo bum plonked on it prior to me eating is rather vomit inducing. That's the fault of the self-entitled mums though, not the cafe, who were too busy to have noticed. All in all, we had a lovely breakfast. It wasn't a 5* review for me as bits of the breakfast weren't amazing. But it was a VERY nice breakfast and if we're down that way again we will definitely be back. DON'T EVER STOP DOING TINNED TOMATOES!!!!!!

Went here for the first time but definitely won’t be the last .excellant breakfast very clean and very friendly staff .

Stop by here on a Saturday morning whilst visiting friends locally, what a great choice. Fantastic veggie breakfast and free top up teas as well, probably one of the best veggie breakfasts I’ve had and I’ve had more than a few!!

Tried the cafe for lunch today. The menu had plenty of cafe stable food plus piping hot freshly made specials. The food was good value for money and excellent. So glad I have it a try

we stopped here for breakfast, before going on to africa alive. i have to say, the food was stunning, freshly cooked to order, and the portion size was more than enough. staff couldnt do enough for us, very helpful and friendly, thank you so much , excellent value

I'm a regular at Posh Pigs close by, so I thought I would give this diner a try. There are many positives about this place; friendly staff, good tea, good portions, tasty eggs, thick cut bacon and plenty of sauces and dressings to accompany your meal. But for me it failed on 2 counts; 1 the lovely bacon appeared to have been done in a microwave and 2 the sausages were poor quality and very mealy. Not for me, so sorry I won't be back and I can't recommend you

This was our first visit to MA Airfield Cafe as we fancied a change from our usual cafe. It was really good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all had a small cooked breakfast. The sausages and bacon were top quality and not greasy. The hot Chocolate was ok and my friend was very impressed as they had a selection of herbal teas. The cafe was clean and tidy. You could see they were very busy with people coming and going and seems a popular place. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, we were all served at the same time. Will definitely visit again.

The best food and the best staff. Can’t recomment this place enough. The other reviews I have read on here I think have been made up, I’m always in here and they’re the loveliest staff and the most amazing food!

Foods ok, staff fantastic but completely let down by the lady owner who feels its OK to comment on people's talkative nature as if it's a bad thing to be friendly.

Food has always been good but when you sit and wait for 45 minutes for two breakfasts and see several people who came in before you receive their orders before you whilst the lady who owns the business has sat at a table chatting to her friend the whole time that really isn't good enough. Said owner then watched us put our cutlery back and walk out without saying a word. Last time we bother going there. Food was of course already paid for so I don't imagine she cared too much either way.

Really good value for money breakfast. You have to wait for it as it's freshly cooked to order, but well, worth the wait.

Called in on our way to Latitude as we had been recommended this diner by friends.

Having experienced a few breakfast diners around and about, I can honestly say this is the best.

Simply the best place to have breakfast in all of Suffolk.

A brilliant value for money breakfast with great service in a clean environment. The breakfasts are super tasty and nice and large even the menu 'smaller' ones are enough to fill you up and set you up for the day. Service with a smile and the girls working always happy to help. Recommended for sure.

I live locally in Worlingham and eat here often. The food is delicious and the amount you get is more than reasonable for the price you pay. The family that run this business are friendly and provide excellent customer service. I am a fussy eater and like my bacon well done and make a few changes to my breakfast and they staff are always happy to accomodate. Nothing is too much trouble. I would and always do recommend this to all my friends and family. A great experience.

Often stop here when out on motorcycle. Bit more space between tables than other caffs. Lovely staff and chilled atmosphere. I especially like arrangement for mugs of tea - add your own milk and container on table for teabags. Somebody on the staff knows what...

I cannot fault this place. Always great service, very friendly. they go out of there way if you want to tweak something on menu like swapping chips for sauteed potatoes or salad for veggies etc. sometimes a little wait for food but always piping hot...

Tenía un desayuno aquí estaba muy ocupado tuve que esperar 30 minutos para la comida, pero estaba caliente y sabroso cuando llegó podría haber sido preparado una pequeña queja fue mi salchichas un poco más.

This cafe is in an industrial estate, so don't expect great views, don't expect well dressed patrons, don't expect fine dinning, this is a great value dinner and as that it exceeds, the food is good, very good for this price, the mug of tea is, well, the best! you can take the dog with you, expect good home cooking, a smiling face and a fuss free sitting, they even brought out a bowl of water for my dog, without being asked, excellent.

For years i went to poshpigs cafe just down the road but the airfield is better imo , all freshly cooked they let you swap items so you get exactly what you want on your breakfast plate. Staff very good always clean and tidy . Recommend the "Runway "

Off the beaten track this little gem conjured up good homemade grub, that had us full in no time. Unless you are visiting the industrial estate this could pass you by. But thanks to Tripadvisor and its current reviews we took this opportunity. Decor was nice and pleasant and we were looked after by the staff. I never object to an all day breakfast, but there was a good choice of alternatives and the wife loved the homemade Lasagne. May this continue.

I've been many, many times and it's always good. Excellent and friendly service. Lots of sauces to choose from and they never quibble about swapping an ingredient in the meal for something else!Can't recommend it enough!

Visit with the family for a special treat of breakfast out, service is outstanding and the food is delicious. The staff are very accommodating and are happy to vary the meals to people's taste. The tables are clean and it is always tidy.

I have now retired as a coach driver and am doing a bit of "add hock" photography which is my hobby as well as my second job.I do not travel as much now but still doing 8 to 10 thousand miles a year and still use a lot of different Hotels etc.This particular Cafe is a well run establishment and the staff are great. The food is freshly cooked and is hot when you get it ..... not like some motorway restaurants where the food is cooked , sometimes over thirty mins before you get it.The staff are also very accommodating and will look after you to the best of theirability.It does get a bit busy sometimes but to me that just proves the food is much better than other local cafes. there is a TV high on the wall for everyone to see and newspapers are available, free WiFi is available and is very quick.

Frequently go to this restaurant for late breakfast. Staff are always warm and friendly with a smile and a pleasant word. Always a good supply of newspapers and the TV is viewable from any seat.

Always a great breakfast/homemade lunches, come here weekly with friends and they do take aways too heating is on so great way to warm up after the school run. Lovely friendly stuff and child friendly too.

We have passed this cafe quite a few times, but have never had the opportunity to stop, due to rushing around so much.! But when we did,it was best decision ever, and it was worth every penny!We will be back!!! My mother-in-law has not stopped raving about it to all her friends.Thank you so much, for a lovely brunch, it was the best I have tasted in a long time. I am even trying to perfect my frying of eggs, so they come out like the cafe owner's.See you again soon. xx

The best cooked breakfast in beccles, made with quality ingredients, fantastic friendly staff who provide a quality service.

What a wonderful place, warm, friendly staff, cafe spotlessly clean and well priced tasty, quality food.Could not fault it, 6 of us had breakfast there ranging from perfectly cooked poached eggs to the full works. The bacon was thick and tasty, great tasting eggs and top quality sausages. We all left feeling totally suffed and the total bill, including extra drinks and loads of toast was £25, an absolute bargain. Nowhere to touch it !!

We finished work Xmas Eve at 1pm and thought we'd all go for a bite to eat, and try the Airfield Café. We weren't disappointed. Welcoming, clean premises, with plenty of parking. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Proper sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, beans, hash brown, fresh toast - just decide on whether you want a good plateful for £3 or a huge plateful for about a fiver. Well-fuelled to tackle xmas! Will definitely be back.

We (as a company) ordered our Christmas meal to be collected at 1.00, it was ready for us and came plated, with sauces and a jug of gravy. There were six of us and we all enjoyed the meal. Well done MA's.

This place is amazing. The price of the meals are exceptional plus with the main meals hot drinks are free refills.Food is cooked perfectly. Meals well presented. Taste great. If in Beccles you must visit this place

We thought we had left it too late to get a fried breakfast so were delighted to be served a delicious, freshly cooked plateful. Nice atmosphere, nice people and tasty food - what more could you want?

Had a lovely lunch again at Ma. Husband had steak and kidney pud with lashings of gravy and mash. I had lasagne, which came up with a large salad that was a delicious mix.cant recommend this place enough, and the service is brilliant Lovely People that own it and the youngsters they have I to help are brilliant , polite and smiling.

I had breakfast here and although it takes a little while to cook it is well worth the wait!! all food is cooked to a high standard and the portion sizes are a good value. i thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here and I have recommended the cafe to others! the service was very good and it felt just like being at home.

Very welcoming diner. Sadly when we got there on Saturday at 1.15pm they had sold out off most of their homecooked meals. Understandable as they are freshly made and they don't open on Sundays and close at 2.30pm on Saturdays. They went out of their way to be helpful. My fathers scampi meal was enormous and our cheese on toast was more than we expected. Which doesn't go for the bill which was the same price as if we had gone to the dreaded McDonalds!!!

First off I'd like to state that I live in Scotland so don't know / am not related to the owners (as far as I am aware). The breakfast was fab - best sausages I've ever tasted. I read AstonV12's review and came to he conclusion that they are competitors and just jealous..........or just plain stupid !

Fed up with pre-packaged rubbish, then go to MA Cafe for home cooked food. We visit often, can't fault it, always the same service and standard of food. Incredible value for money, family of 4 can eat with drinks for under £25! Great to know these family run places still exist, we were fed up paying money for poor value food and this place is a real find, if you go a little off the beaten track, it's well worth the trouble.

Home cooked food we go on a Saturday and are never disappointed. Lovely old fashioned cooking. My favourite shepherds pie and my hubbys is the steak suet pudding

For many years we have visitedAnother cafe at ellough. Yesterday we popped into this cafe as we were hungry and passing and the one we normally use was shut. Well wow, how glad were we that we did! A very warm friendly and clean place miles above the one we normally use. The cooked breakfasts were fantastic And we definitely will be visiting again!

Visited MA Airfield Café today with my husband. As all ways great welcome and great lunch. We have started to visit nearly every Saturday. I had cottage pie which was so obviously home made and delicious made with 'Real Mince' You could see the meat !!!!!!. Followed by ice cream sundae. My husband had the steak suet pudding a firm favourite. Large portions and good quality.We will be going back, wish they were open Xmas day !!!!!!!!

What a gem this café is! It's clean comfortable and has a good range of breakfast on the menu to suit all tastes! The cooked breakfast is non greasy and cooked beautifully, how nice it is to have a fried egg that is cooked properly and still maintains it's runny yolk! I came in with my 2 year old daughter and best friend, and loved how welcoming the staff were, even the chef took time to talk to my little girl! We will definitely be back, probably making it a weekly visit :) Thankyou :)

Just shows how misleading and flawed trip advisor reviews can be.Instant coffee rubbish, bacon old and tough, greasy eggs. Breakfast from the fifties when it was just a pleasure not to cook. All the excellent reviews must be from people who can't cook or friends and family. The proprietors seem very friendly and eager to please but the excellent reviews will not help them improve.

We found this Cafe by accident whilst reading Tripadvisor reviews and we are so glad we did. Went there twice over the week-end whilst we were staying in Beccles. It was so good that we took our elderly parents on the Monday for lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The owners/staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and kitchen are spotless. The food is, as far as I could tell, good wholesome home cooking and delicious and the plates are large portions.. Fresh vegetables and delicious mashed potato accompany the main meals. We had the cottage pie and lamb and mint pudding and there is a good variety of other dishes to choose from including a childrens menu. The prices are suitable for any families and you will get good value for money and not feel ripped off when you pay.. All in all we are happy that we found this lovely cafe and when in the area again will definitely be revisiting - can't wait.We have been in the other nearby cafe before (mentioned in other reviews) and found it to be more expensive and the staff seem more interested in chatting to each other than listening to their customers, hence getting the orders wrong.

First time I have visited this café and is the only one I know which is open before 8am in fact I was in there just after 7.30. Service and quality of the breakfast was very good and good value the only thing I did think was the tables were a bit sticky could do with a good clean but would definitely go again.

If you are after a 'traditional' English breakfast then this is the place for you. There is no pretence and you will be sharing the place with folk who are setting themselves up for a hard day's work.The MA cafe is located on the industrial estate so it's hardly a surprise that it is popular with the local workforce; to be honest - they looked a little surprised when I turned up with the family. That said, we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed an excellent chat with a couple of the regulars and the breakfast was simply excellent. A simple but perfectly cooked fry up with lashings of hot team and a pile of hot buttered toast on the side. I only mark it down slightly because, despite being a charming log cabin - it's still in the middle of an industrial estate and the view isn't that great.Great people, great food, great fun - it made me proud to be British again.

The food is very well cooked and the staff are friendly and polite. They have fast and free wifi which is nice when you want to check the football/grand prix results etc and there is a pleasant seating area outside. The service was good and they well deserve a good reputation. I will certainly go there again.However as this rating leads to their position in the table of places to eat in Beccles, I've had to mark them down as their main competitor was actually better.The atmosphere and service was slightly lower here than their main rival on the industrial estate and they have less facilities like espresso/cappuccino machines if you like a rich coffee.Having said that this is still worth a visit and a great place to eat - I'd rate it at #2 for breakfasts and #3 overall in Beccles - and beyond- I'd rate them above most places in Lowestoft and Bungay too.

Only eaten a couple times which have been awesome however I've come in few more times with friends for drinks and a catch up and we're always greeted with a friendly and warm atmosphere.. X

I found this Diner by accident but I am glad I did.the food is first class .... at a very reasonable price and the staff are so good.Also free wifi and plenty of signal.all in all a really great experience.I would certainly recommend it.

Roger and Mary-Ann have created an absolutely fabulous café here. They were potentially up against it with those Posh Piggies nearby but suffice to say they have blown them out of the water. The food cooked on site by MA is wonderful, plentiful and very well priced. Been at least 15 times now and had numerous different meals, everyone superb. Please can we have a loyalty card :-)

Went to the air field diner for a fry up, the staff were friendly the prices were good and u liked that they had local butchers meat, very happy immaculately clean , will be returning !!

Been here a couple of times and really enjoyed it, the food is very good and the prices are fantastic - great value! Friendly atmosphere and welcoming setting. Handy walking distance from Worlingham if you don't drive. Good size car park available too! Would recommend to anyone.

Went on Saturday had Asparugus and cheese quiche, homemade, superb, allways happy to eat and recommend. Owners are lovely and obviuously put the customers first.Always a good selection of lunches.

Visited whilst on route to Norwich, lovely food. I had a runway breakfast and even though it wasn't the largest breakfast on the menu it was more than enough! Very generous portions and delicious sausage, good quality bacon and hash browns. Definately left full!!
