M Dim Sum in Southampton

Great experience. We went as a group of 5, and had a fantastic meal. The meal deal was great and affordable. Worked out at £30 each, and we got 4-5 courses from this. The food was delicious! The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The place was busy.

The fruit dink almost 5 pounds and it taste Iike chemical, very disgusting The foods are ok.

Ordered food on Uber eats, with the set d menu. Half the food didn’t arrive and the food that did was very disappointing. Spending £60 on this food is really not worth it at all

We had dinner here today, and after finishing, we were waiting for our taxi outside. Since it was 0°C, we decided to wait in the area between the first and second set of doors. A young male staff member came over with a terrible attitude and asked what we were doing. After explaining, he rudely dismissed us and basically tried to kick us out without even listening when I said we had just dined here two minutes ago. We spent over £80, and this is the kind of service we get? The elderly staff member who served us during dinner was lovely, but this male staff’s behavior made it feel like their politeness ends as soon as you finish your meal. Very disappointing. We won’t be coming back

There is a nice atmosphere to this restaurant and the portions are really big. The pork belly and Cantonese duck with rice was really good!

Outstanding food!!! This is my favourite Chinese place in Southampton central, the staff are very friendly, the food the best, they are a variety of different dim-sum’s and there’s l a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

A discretionary service charge is added by default, so we asked the waitress if we needed to pay for it, and the answer was, "You should pay for it. It has already happened several times for me, I believe it may be a broader issue of this restaurant

A great addition to the high street! Loved this place for its friendly service and delicious dim sum. Tried a few dishes here now and a few favourites are the perfectly crisp and tangy sweet and sour chicken and the chicken chow mein was also really flavourful. Also loved the Dim Sum platter.

Requested a last minute booking for 7pax due to a friend’s birthday celeb and they happily accommodated. Ambiance was very nice and elegant. Food was tasty and prices were reasonable with big servings (for an asian like me). To top it off, they gave a special dessert with candle for our friend and sang her a “Happy Birthday” song. Staff were very friendly and helpful. At the end, they also served us some fortune cookies for free. This restaurant never disappoints, even when we order from Uber. Highly recommended (especially their roasted duck miso ramen) 💯

In the afternoon, everyone offered a 20% discount and refused to pay the service fee. Then he was clever and placed a new order with a 10% discount without telling me. The total price remained the same. It was very disrespectful. The waiter's attitude was also very bad. The taste was delicious and he would not give a good review to China. People only lie to Chinese people

We have been looking for a top Chinese restaurant for a while and was tipped off by a friend about Dim Sum. What a result. Fantastic food, very reasonably priced and great service. We left feeling very full, large servings of piping hot tasty quality food. I just can't find any faults, even the toilets were nice. Will definitely return and will recommend to others.

I usually order online from them but I wanted to try the dishes I never tried before. So I went and the lady “Nicole” was incredibly patient and helpfull. The atmosphere was very relax. I really like the food. M Dim Sum become my regular now.

Simply amazing crispy pork belly, Peking roast duck and char siu. Better than some I've had in London Chinatown and much cheaper, too! 10/10 recommend. The milk tea included in the lunch deal was also surprisingly tasty.

First time here it won’t be the last, but we were visiting - we will definitely be back, when my child starts Uni . Excellent service, staff were friendly and kind. Best crispy noodles, actually hot and amazing taste! My mum would have loved it here !!! 😊👏🏼

One of my favourite restaurants to eat out in Southampton. Really friendly vibe with great service. The food is amazing! Always so full of flavour and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the trio of meats, great addition with any rice and noodles. We also had a combination of prawn / scallop and vegetable dim sum which the scallop was my favourite and my partner the prawn. Both were full of flavour. We also had some salt and pepper squid which was perfectly done as well! They are also accommodating to small adjustments for example we wanted a special rice with seafood and meats with a kind of gravy sauce on top (as seen in photos) which they had no problem at all doing! We loved our meal and are always looking for an opportunity to come back and eat here. You won’t be disappointed!! (The photos speak for themselves). Truly a lovely atmosphere and great place to eat in Southampton. Don’t miss out!

This is my first review of a restaurant ever as this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I could not reccomend more the food was absolutely perfect and the staff are fast, helpful and kind. You will not regret going here it is amazing! Thank you so much :)

Hi everyone! Me and my family went to M’ Dim Sum 🥟 a few days ago for very 1st time. All the Dim Sum are beautifully present and tastes are amazingly delicious. Especially black garlic 🧄 Shumai ( Chicken Dumping ) is the best. Also I never seen in the other Dim Sum shop ever in the UK 🇬🇧. The art of Dim Sum Ha Kao ( Shrimp Dumpling ) is so nice as well. Steamed Spare Ribs with black beans is recommended. Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf Wraps is beautiful aroma and tasty. Spring onions cha leung cheung fun is worth it to try. Three Roasted Meats and eggs fried rice is the one of the best menu choice. Red beans bum dessert is the best for me. Another dessert I recommend Portuguese Custard 🍮 Tart which is delicious. All the prices are reasonable for everybody. Staffs are nice, helpful and friendly. Restaurant decoration is amazingly beautiful. Location is middle of the Southampton City Centre which is easy to get there. I am happy with the food and services. So, I am going again and again. Also I recommend for everyone. Authentic Asian cuisine, food taste was good. Fried noodles were delicious and prawn was fresh, portion size was fine. Staff behaviour was polite but not friendly. Restaurant was clean and service was fast.

Authentic and delicious Cantonese food! Our favourtie dish was the lamb brisket with turnip which has a lovely rich flavour - the brisket was very tender and the turnip soaked up all the sauce. Roast duck was nice and fresh as well. Great service and nice decor a huge plus, especially compared to other Chinese places in the area.

Been here twice now, in quite a short space of time. Selection is wonderful. The dim sum and bbq meats are so tasty. You definitely get food envy as you watch other people’s food coming out, which I think is always a good sign. We definitely plan on working our way through the extensive menu. Took a short day trip to Southampton and read the great reviews, also ensuring the menu also had Chinese (you know it's more likely to be authentic!) The owner made us feel like we were regulars, he was really friendly with our toddler whom felt very comfortable with him as she can sometimes be shy around strangers. The food was very good and it's hard to find good dim sum outside of London. We will definitely be returning. Wheelchair/pram friendly as another customer came in an electric wheelchair with no issues as the tables weren't cramped together like a lot of restaurants in general, it felt very spacious. Accessible toilet with changing table was very clean looking. I only took photos after we'd started eating! Upstairs they also have a screen for karaoke parties which I think someone had hired as people were gathering there when I went upstairs to the toilets.

My favourite Dim Sum restaurant! Coming from Hong Kong, it's not always easy to find good Cantonese food so I was overjoyed when I first found this place. The dim sum is excellent (highlights: har gow (prawn dumplings), prawn & scallop dumplings, spring rolls, BBQ pork buns, tripe in xo sauce). The BBQ meats are delicious and I love that I can go there and a get a "fan hup" (rice box style dish). Very authentic! I also love the other dishes on the menu which reminds me of home i.e the pork and preserved vegetables, beef noodles, aubergine claypot. The service is also excellent! The manager is always extremely friendly and goes out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The staff are attentive to topping up tea etc. Plus if you go after 3pm, there is 20% off all dimsum! I highly recommend this place.

In Southampton for a day trip… and decided to go for dim sum. It was after 3pm and there was 20% discount on all the dim sum. I ordered my usual selection… and I was absolutely blown away. It was unbelievable….The dim sum in Southampton is better than in Chinatown!!! Ok it was expensive but then there was a 20% discount….so then it was cheaper… The dim sum were bigger, prettier in presentation and tastier .. less MSG tasting…. The restaurant was packed with Chinese people which is a good sign too. The seating was very comfortable and modern and clean… If you have the opportunity to visit Southampton.. go to M Dim Sum …..

Ordered via deliveroo, ordered all vegetarian food, bite into the spring roll to find chicken in it. Disgusted and will never use this place again.

Exceptional service and atmosphere! Had late lunch with a friend and we ordered a set menu (Set B £25pp). For two people who usually eat a lot, we left FULL. We were warned not to order a starter (pork and prawn dim sum) but we didn’t listen! We should’ve listened but no regrets because food was great! The dessert was super cute and bunny shaped! Would definitely go again.

Food was not bad but the service was awful, especially from the grumpy and racist old man. He treats Chinese people well but not to me who is a foreigner. I have never felt disrespected until I went to that restaurant and never felt uncomfortable dining. Other staff also do not talk at all, they just take your plates away. I love chinese food but might not have it again. Worst dining experience!! Very disappointing!! Would not recommend this place!! AVOID!!!!

Baldy is very rude and even says what else with a sigh, it seems he is in the wrong professional. Rude to foreigners but nice to chinese people. Worst chinese, even microwaving the rice as probably cold. No wonder why it was so empty His manners must have went with his hairline

It can’t be easy providing amazingly tasting and joyously delightful Dim Sum food and impeccable service on your busiest day of the year (Chinese New Year) but M Dim Sum not only delivered, they also excelled. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant as not only the best in town, but one of the best Dim Sum restaurants I have ever visited and as a former Cruise Ship Captain I’ve been to quite a few around the world!

So I have been here twice, and the 2 experiences below never ever happen me. Except from this restaurant….. I’m 29 and can eat a lot of random food, and I rarely ever get sick. First time from this place I had the strongest ever migraine headaches during the night, it was agonising. I thought it must be the food, as I never have migraine. Apparently easily caused by excess MSG salt in chinese food. It was truly an agonising experience. And then last night I went again because it looks like a nice busy restaurant, and the food appears good. But I still have/had full blown food poisoning. I am still puking at 1pm the next day. I was awake all night with all the symptoms you can imagine. Bad batch of chicken/duck/prawns? God knows… I will not be eating here again just not worth it at all. 2/2 bizarre eating consequences which never happen to me. Recommend to avoid.

I passed by this restaurant by chance with a friend and had a meal. There is nothing wrong with the food or anything else, and the environment is very clean and hygienic. It's just that the waiters here didn't look very professional. When we ordered food, we had to change one person after another, and finally the fourth person succeeded in taking our order. I feel that it can improve the efficiency and quality of employees. The aunt who paid the bill also had a bad attitude towards us. I don’t know what went wrong and I might not eat there again in the future.

Popped into this on a whim, the service was outstanding as was the food. Went for a set menu and was not disappointed. Asked for the bill and noticed a surcharge of £6:50 I asked this to be removed, I’m a fond believer of paying cash to the server direct, but was informed this could not be removed as it was a TAX??. Not sure this is correct but just be aware!! Other than that I would highly recommend this restaurant

We had bbq pork rice & bbq pork buns - sorry, I don’t quite like as I can see too much coloring on the charsiew. Rice is a bit soggy and make the whole eating experience not great. Maybe different tastebud. But their service is great and only good quality needs to improve if it’s Hong Kong style

Great authentic and quality chinese food, if a bit expensive - but the environment is nice which makes it obvious what we might be paying for. Everything we've ordered has been good and we would order all of it again. For info, there is a 'discretionary' service charge that gets added by default.

Lovely food great service, squid was a bit spicy but still lovely. Would have liked to have more sauce for spring rolls but I guess you could ask for extra.

The flavors of the food were truly delightful, though I must admit I wished the portions were a bit more generous. While the cuisine left me satisfied, communicating with the staff proved challenging due to language barriers. Despite this, the overall atmosphere and delicious dishes make it a worthwhile visit.

I recently dined at this Cantonese restaurant wiz my friend, and I must say that my experience was truly exceptional. So, I decide to take some time to write a review here to share my experience in this wonderful restaurant with you all. -SERVICE From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles and hospitable service of the manager and lovely waitress working there. And they were really attentive and made sure that every aspect of our experience was enjoyable. -FOOD From part of the photos, you can tell that each dish I ordered was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with authentic Cantonese flavours according to “official certification” from my Cantonese friend. From the savoury dim sum to the delectable Peking duck, I have to say that every bite was indeed a delight to the taste buds. -ENVIRONMENT The clean environment of the restaurant was also notable. The well-maintained dining area and immaculate restrooms added to the pleasant dining experience. This restaurant is truly a 10 out of 10, and I strongly recommend you all drop by and have one of the most amazing dining experiences by yourself.

Food was amazing. We dined during tea time without knowing it and enjoyed a very nice discount! Very authentic dim sum, just like what we used to have in Hong Kong.

Saw the duck in the window and wanted to try this for a while. Wish I did sooner. The roast duck was cooked well and tasted great, along with other dim sum items. Waiters/waitresses were approachable and helpful. Overall this was a more relaxed atmosphere than others. Will want to visit again when I'm in the area. Would have taken more photos but couldn't resist eating!

Authentic food and the whole dining experience is very 'modern East Asian'.

A great dimsum menu! They have all the steamed, fried and baked goodies you could ask for. Highly recommend the truffle Sui Mai, minced pork congee and the soup dumplings. The cocktails are STRONG (not sure what the Chinese spirit is but it's potent) so don't expect much in terms of flavors. I'll be back ! Good dimsum is always going to bring me back !

The owner is one of the loveliest business owners I’ve ever met. We forgot to order our rice without pork even though we didn’t realise till last minute he still swapped it. He also did it with a cheerful heart and didn’t make us feel bad about it. Dim sum was great, loved the prawn dumpling. The beef in black bean and special fried rice wasn’t great. It felt like it was missing something. The portions were massive, you could definitely share. I’d go back for the dim sum.

Was in Southampton to embark cruise. Stumbled upon this restaurant. Was so pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of food served by this Chinese restaurant. All that we ordered (braised duck, porridge, lotus leaf rice dumplings, stir fried asparagus) were so good! Love the modern ambiance, it’s bright, spacious unlike most overseas dated Chinese restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff too. Will definitely come back.

It's such a homey place. The food is great. The portion is good. The price is fair. The lunch specials are like 4 to 16 pounds and the Peking duck at dinner is so great!
