Good restaurant special food very delicious

Four of us, while staying in a local hotel for the night, ready for a cruise the next day, decided not to eat in the hotel but instead go out for dinner and picked this local restaurant. It was early on a Thursday evening so not to busy, but booked online just in case. We arrived, we're greeted warmly, showed to our table then looked after very well for the duration of our meal. The service was excellent, and the food style was a little different to what I and the rest of the party have eaten before which made it different but ultimately the best Indian meal that all of us have eaten in a long time. A great restaurant, just a shame I can't give it a higher rating.

My local Indian restaurant so maybe a little bias towards it, but I love the food here! Always have a great meal and the staff are always great. Would give 5 stars but the toilets could do with some tlc.

I ordered from here first time as I heard good things about it and to say I’m highly disappointed is an understatement. I ordered a meal and a bottle of coke. The meal arrived luke warm and my coke was missing. I called them to say about the coke being missing and was told that I didn’t order one when I know full well that I did. And then I was told “no my food is not cold,” when I brought that up too. Why would I go out of my way to lie about your food being cold? It took way longer that stated to arrive in the first place. Instead of being defensive, apologise and try to rectify the issue and don’t insinuate that your customers are liars. I wasn’t going to leave a bad review but your attitude was 👎

Another lovely meal been coming here for few years now never had a bad meal. Service is amazing nothing to much trouble and food one of the best would highly recommend 👌

The very best Indian curry I have ever eaten. So full of flavour and unique. I would give 6 stars if I could. Even the delivery driver was a lovely gentleman. Will use every time from now on. Thank you guys 😊

Booked a group of 12, staff were very friendly and accommodating, which went along way to towards great birthday celebrations. Nice gesture of a birthday pudding. Food was very nice and would not hesitate to eat there again

I came here last night with my family to celebrate a birthday. we were seated promptly. The menu had a seemingly endless amount of dishes with definitions in each category so you would know exactly what you would be ordering. Poppadoms were brought out first along with drinks, and the meal orders were taken just after we'd finished with them. Food arrived quickly, hot and presented really well. I had the Tandoori king prawn Biryani & vegetable curry, and it was one of if not the best I've ever had in a restaurant. My sister is a picky eater and is often difficult to cater for, but the staff were able to help her find something she liked, which is usually difficult when we go out for dinner. The staff would frequently come around and check on our table, making sure that the meals were alright, drinks were refilled, etc. They were all very friendly, attentive and dressed smartly. This restaurant is overall one of the best in the southampton area and I would 100% recommend it. would rate 6 stars if I could.

Excellent food for a decent price. I would highly reccomend the cricket ball sized bahjis and puris for starter. The mains work via choising the type of curry twinned with either meat, veg or fish (or shellfish).

Cannot rate this place enough! They go out of their way to please. On this occasion the manager/chief/cleaner (Jack of all trades) personally made my dish and was extremely friendly and his staff.

Went here for my Dad’s 70th birthday celebration. We had a lovely time. Food was really tasty and staff lovely and attentive. Would definitely recommend and will be back in the near future. Thankyou! X

Food was ready on time, the portions were large and very reasonably priced. The pilau rice was very tasty. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the curry which was bland with little flavour and no heat even though it was supposed to be of medium strength.

The reason I go here is for the food... which has been exceptional both times I've been. The place is well presented, clean and the temperature was lovely on a hot summers day. There were two main downsides for me- 1. The Coke we ordered was flat and luke warm both times we attended. I am surprised that there isn't a soda stream machine. I would have bought more drinks had it been! 2. The service was rather slow. I get that the restaurant was busy but I feel like a couple more hands would help no end. Still I will be returning again shortly because I love the food! Update- Service was significantly quicker today. I look forward to seeing if this can be maintained on the next visit 🙂

Just had our first takeaway and all the food was lovely and expecially the chicken puri starter definitely will be coming back and like to say good portions and prices 😋

Well..what can I say...absolutely brilliant evening. Staff were witty, very friendly and professional in everything they did. Service was good and all meals were excellent.. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone who wants a good evening in a clean spotless environment . Will definitely go back again as we were made to feel so welcome.

Very friendly staff however we all felt the food was bland

Came here with some friends on Friday night. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious. Portions were large as you can see in the photo. I would recommend the Lamb Tikka Masala, it has a different twist to what I’ve had before but in my opinion was so much nicer. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and fancy a curry.

Very good restaurant. The service was excellent and food delicious. I had the chicken biryani with a vegetable curry and it was lovely. We also had a lamb tikka and a chicken tikka masala- all very good.

We 4 Deaf friends really enjoyed this venue. Wonderful value on "specials nights" offer. Well worth it, good portions of tasty food great staff looked after us well, even had time for chats.

We live nearby and decided to support our local restaurant, looked on their website which showed a deal for Sunday and Monday, 4 courses plus tea or coffee for £16.95, which seemed reasonable. We ordered our food which although tasty the curries lacked any spice, service was very slow and the lady member of staff was very miserable and surly. Upon looking at the bill which eventually came after a prolonged wait we noticed we had been charged £5:90 for tea and coffee, the owner came over and explained the website is incorrect, it’s only for 4 courses and the person who updates the website is on holiday, very poor customer service, explains why the restaurant was empty, save your money and eat elsewhere, plenty of other restaurants with better tasting food and fantastic service nearby such as Kali Murchi on Shirley High Street, safe to say we will not eat there again.

I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night (21/09/2023) as a walk in. We had a table of four. The food and service were really good. However… The mains came out and one dish was sizzling. This triggered the smoke alarm. This smoke alarm continued to ring for five minutes. It was high pitched and making our ears ring. We couldn’t speak and had that going off whilst trying to eat our main. There was no apology and my friend for up to ask where the fire alarm was. No one knew and we were pretty sure a fire engine was about to turn up. Our bill came to £161 and prior to paying I spoke to the lady at the bar and said. The food was lovely, however the fire alarm did spoil part of our evening. They tried to make humour of this and indicate it was our meal that caused this. I asked if there was something that could be done to reflect this in the bill. I was told no one else complained; followed by, these are all local regular customers. They also tried to say, ‘when I went to nandos and it happened we didn’t get anything’. They proceeded to offer me some shots of Baileys as a gesture, I said that half of my party were driving. They responded, ‘Well that’s all I can do’ It would appear that as a customer paying that much I should have accepted a fire alarm going off ringing in my ears for five minutes. Along with the waiter hoovering behind us at 22.30. Don’t bother going if you’re not a regular is the impression I was left with.

The restaurant owner provided outstanding service, even though we arrived late on a bank holiday. He served us with a welcoming attitude. The food's quality and portion size were excellent, with a special mention for the delicious naan bread and various curries. I highly recommend this place to others.

This looks like a quality restaurant that offers high levels of service, but sadly they cut corners. Twice now I've been there and ordered expensive king prawn dishes but was disappointed, instead they served tasteless medium sized prawns with supermarket texture. Nothing like the quality other restaurants offer. I won't pay premium prices to be served below average ingredients. The 1st time I assumed they'd run out of the real thing. A shame to lose customers over something so easily put right. I was taken there again yesterday as a surprise & the food was worse than last time. So called King prawns were still cheap frozen tiny things that were so overcooked, they were like bullets.

This was my first time visiting and it was incredible food, possibly the best Indian I've ever had. Lovely staff, all very attentive. Very good value for money, too! Highly recommend.

This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Southampton and anyone that doesn't agree clearly hasn't been there! As well as the great food (it really is exceptional) it's also good value for money and has friendly service. This really is my go to establishment and is a reason I've been loyal for 10 years!

Our first visit here after walking past a few times. The service was friendly and helped with recommendations. The quality and taste of the food was excellent. We will be back.

We buy a takeaway from this restaurant once every two months. This used to be our favourite Indian restaurant but unfortunately the takeaway that we bought on the 1st of May was very disappointing. In both curries the chicken was hard, like it had been dropped on the sauce to boil. I know that they were very busy on the night but quality should always be a priority.

Superb. Excellent food. Generous portions. Ace staff. A friend recommended this to us and I told him he had a gold star for an excellent recommendation. We couldn't fault it and will return ASAP.

Disappointed. Tikka massala was just a tasteless red sauce. Onion bajees over cooked and poppadoms cooked in oil that was too hot .

We haven visited this restaurant a fair few times and also have ordered a take away many times.The food tonight was as good as always,hot and fresh. However, I was surprised when we got our bill that we were charged £1.50 for 2 foil containers and a paper bag to take home the food we didn't eat. We have always done this as we always end up ordering too much food, and have never been charged before, either here or any other restaurant we have been to. Considering how cheap foil food containers are ,£1 for 6 in the pound shop,and I would imagine much less when ordered in bulk,this is rather over the top. Our bill for 2 was £75 so I think this was very penny pinching. Maybe something management should re-consider if they want customers to return.

Just ordered a take away and as always the food was fantastic! The staff are always so friendly. We don’t go anywhere else for Indian food. Their chicken tikka rogan is the best I’ve ever had.

I and my husband spent the week-end at my sisters in Southampton, on Sat evening we decided to visit and have a meal. We live in Surrey and have to say, although we have many Indian restaurants on our doorstep, we have become disheartened over the years. These restaurants seem to be less busy now and with the growing multicultural society seem to have lost their way. However all faith was restored when visiting this glorious restaurant Everything magnificent, including the price. Well done for keeping the old way of producing delicious food within the comfortable modern glam ambience. Well worth a trip down the motorway Thank you

Food is fantastic service has been welcoming and very accommodating, garlic chilli lamb is a personal fav and you don't get anything better. Just wish I lived closer and had this as my local take away.

Great food, service and portions! We try out a lot of Indians for our channel and I have to say this was one of the best.. the paneer tikka starter and lamb jalfrezi was out of this world! None of this small portion malarkey I’ve read about on previous comments! We will definitely be back.. -side note: We are not keen on dishing out food into our own takeaway containers, and I think when you spend X amount on food a complimentary shot/beverage is in order.. this is a personal opinion as other restaurants do accommodate this.. None the less, we shall be back!

Best Indian food in Southampton by a country mile. Their madras is just fabulous as they blend their spices perfectly. The result is a milder madras than the harsh fire madras so many other Indian restaurants "ruin" dishes with.

Me and my partner visited this restaurant Saturday evening. We had booked a hotel down southampton to see the match however was cancelled. We found this restaurant and booked online. The staff was really friendly and helpful despite being so busy. The staff did not stop the entire time we was there. Food was absolutely lovely, best curry we have had. Keep up the good work we will be back one day.

Had a take away meal last evening. Apart from over charging the food itself was shocking. I had 5 small pieces of chicken in my meal and I'm not exactly sure what sauce was offered but it looked all the same on our four meals. The onion bhaji were dripping with fat/grease and uneatable. I'm not going to comment on the Peshwari naan as I don't have the words to describe what it was !! We have had meals from here before but will not be returning not only for their standard of cooking but also the 25 % increase on their new menus.

Never had a bad meal here and we change our dishes all the time.The staff are the most friendliest and helpfully would recommend this place to anyone who wants good food and great service.

The food was the best Asian food I’ve had in a restaurant, the staff were super professional and made sure the food was okay.

Usually I would have rated this restaurant at least 5 Stars. We had another meal delivered yesterday, but was slightly disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food, compared to our last meal. Slightly smaller portions and without the little extra touches of coriander sprinkled over the top.

I went to this restaurant with my friends and family, the interior was modern and very clean inside and out. We sat down the waiter was very nice and kind, the only issue as why I rated it 3/5 is the food wait and the food expectation. The food wait was far to long and we saw deliveres/people who came in after us getting their food very quickly. We waited almost an hour and 30 minutes for our food which isn't ok! We didn't order much once the food came out it was warm which is always a good sign but I didn't finish my plate, it could've been much hotter as we did ask for extra hot. We had a good time and it was a birthday for one of our cousins if I had to choose whether or not I would come back I would say no, food was decent but not spectacular.

We went with friends and opted for the Sunday “cash only” menu which was fine but when the bill came, we were told that we also had to pay cash for the alcohol we consumed. We challenged this with the owner who was adamant that this was advertised (which it wasn’t) and so trotted off to the local cash point. Make of this what you will but I’m sure trading standards might have something to say about this set up. The food was distinctly average so won’t be returning on that basis, let alone the cash issue.

After a busy day, I visited the Jehangir as I enjoy Indian Cuisine and ordered Chicken Balti, Nan Bread and Poppadoms, to wash down a Bottle of Cobra large. Excellent Service, tranquil atmosphere, lovely Food, not bad Price, gave a tip.

Awful service seems to be very common with this place, we arrived as a party of 13 at 7:20. We didn’t even see a waiter until 8:15 who then gave menus…we received food at 9:30 We had to go up to the bar and order drinks in the end because it was so bad. No apology for the fact we waited over 2 hours for a 1 course meal? Even when they came out I think I could see my breath more than I could steam. Would never recommend this place to anyone, it takes nothing to go over to a table and explain the place is busy or your short staffed or whatever the reason is.

Sunday and Monday offer was cash only despite not being told about this on arrival. The food was appalling compared to what they normally do for full price and delivery. Garlic and chilli naan was dangerously hot. Service was ok.

We had a fantastic meal here in mid August. The restaurant was reactively busy with diners and very busy with takeaway. The staff were friendly and helpful explaining all the various dishes and options. I would recommend this restaurant as serving excellent food

Nice food. Shame despite being registered on the government Web site that the eat out to help out deal wasn't honoured by the restaurant especially as we wanted to support a local chain free restaurant! Watch out people.

Solo un aviso para cualquiera que quiera ordenar saag paneer. No usan PANEER en este plato, en su lugar usan queso cheddar maduro que revolvió mi estómago durante días. Los sabores del saag real eran encantadores, hasta que te encontraste con una parte derretida de queso fuerte que simplemente no funciona con el plato. Por favor, etiquete sus platos apropiadamente, estaba muy decepcionado.

Great food, the usual menu with some specials unique to Jehangir. The service can be sometimes a little slow, but its worth the wait. If you want a takeout I would heartily recommend Jehangir.

Después de usarlo para varias entregas antes. Tengo que decir que después de hoy no volveré. Realizo mi pedido a las 5. 30 pm. La cena finalmente apareció a las 7. 10 pm. Cuando finalmente apareció, los platos principales estaban helados, el pollo tikka massala sabía más a mango massala. Y para pagar 2. 30 por 2 de las samosas más pequeñas que he visto. Significa que ahora llevaré mi costumbre a otra parte.

Después de leer muchas críticas y de que nuestros vecinos nos contaran sobre este restaurante local, decidimos ir a celebrar un cumpleaños. Era un martes por la noche y no estaba muy ocupado, así que pensamos que el servicio sería bueno. La elección en el menú fue impresionante y los precios parecían muy razonables.Pedimos unos entrantes y estos salieron bastante rápido y estaban calientes pero los platos estaban muy fríos. . .El restaurante parecía bastante frío en temperatura pero estábamos esperando un curry caliente para calentarnos. Después de que se despejaron los platos iniciales, nos sentamos y esperamos alrededor de 45 minutos para que los platos principales salieran de la cocina. Esto fue demasiado tiempo para esperar en una noche tranquila y tuvimos que preguntar dos veces dónde estaba nuestra comida.Cuando nuestra comida finalmente llegó, se veía bien, ¡pero los platos que nos dieron estaban nuevamente fríos!Teníamos mucha hambre en este momento, así que nos metimos solo para devolver uno de los platos, ya que no hacía calor, solo estaba tibio. . .Habíamos pedido diferentes curries, algunos muy suaves debido a tener un hijo y un miembro mayor de la familia con nosotros. Desafortunadamente, estos eran muy sosos sin profundidad de sabor. También eran muy dulces, lo cual era muy extraño.Había pedido un pollo tikka masala pero, una vez más, era soso y sin profundidad. El masala dhal estaba bien, pero no hay nada que destacar.El arroz pilau y los chapatis eran muy sabrosos, pero no vas a un restaurante indio solo para comerlos. . .Gastamos casi 100 para los cuatro, lo que para ser honesto es demasiado. Habíamos pedido una ronda extra de bebidas debido a la larga espera.Los camareros eran muy agradables y amables y tienen un extra para llevar e incluso tienen a nuestro hijo un helado para probar y hacer las paces.¿Volvería? Posiblemente por el buen servicio pero no por la comida que habíamos pedido. Hay mejor comida india más auténtica en Southampton.
