Emons in Southampton

Garbage. Ordered a 'traditional chicken curry with 2 naans'. The box of curry was three-quarters full only. 2-3 pieces of chicken tasted alright but the rest of the pieces had an old/funny taste. Typical out-of-the-freezer old chicken taste. The curry itself was equivalent of a Co-op shelf quality. Very mediocre. I don't know how these guys are surviving. I've had authentic Indian meals and this place does not come close. This is the second time I've had an issue. Thought I'd give them a chance - not again.

Food used to be amazing here u till a couple of weeks ago. The lady was really really rude and tried to over charge me by £5 which is really bad. A few hours after eating there food I was really ill and so was my partner. Very very disappointed will not be coming back as a Loyal customer.

I have eaten a fair few Indian curries. This is the first time I’ve felt the compulsion to leave a review. Ahem…. THE BEST INDIAN EVER. And it’s consistent. So far they are two for two. Every menu item we ordered was perfect. The garlic mushroom dish is enough to cause a divorce lol Update…. Still the best. Can can’t be beaten.

Food did not turn up at all after 1 hour 30 called numerous times no answer and hold music finally got through to be told all delivery drivers left and now closing absolute joke and clear scammers

Absolutely stunning food! Probably the best Indian takeaway in Southampton. I've had a lot of Indian food from a variety of places and I've yet to find better.

I’ve been an Emon’s customer for over 10 years plus you can tell it’s changed hands. We have loved the food here but recently it’s not up to scratch something missing sad to say really

2nd take away order through app, food is hot and tasty, absolutely loved it. 45 stated for delivery arrived on time.

Order took twice as long to deliver as stated. Every single Masala had an immense amount of sugar in it. I cannot describe how sweet the masala was. The garlic naan had no noticeable garlic flavor. The food was not warm. I hate to say it but it is the worst Indian food restaurant I’ve ever ordered from.

Amazing food best I have ever tasted. Better than my favourite restaurant! Great value.top meal for 2 £24. Friendly service easy to order in house by phone or on website. Recommend and will be using again …..lots!

Take away and delivery service only. Excellent quality food at a reasonable price with prompt delivery, I've never had an unsatisfactory meal delivery from here in the years that I've been using the service.

Waited over 1hr 20 mins for food that never arrived. Called 3 times just lied to about the driver being outside. Used this place for 30 years but the new owners have ruined it. Smaller portions. No quality and the service is dreadful. Don't waste your time with this poor imitation of what it once was.

Vegetable Rogan was extremely sweet

Hello the food was a lovely bit cold and took well over an hour to deliver!! Get your delivery time shorter and food hot inside of warm you would have 5 star from me cos the food was tasty!!!

Good fresh food, taste all the flavours of the spices . Quick delivery when you call direct, instead of using someone like just eat or deliveroo . Very good food and good service. I never leave reviews but this deserves it.

Decided to try Eamons as recommended. Never again. Took 1 hr and 40 mins to arrive. This was a Wednesday eve at 6 so not busy. Was told 45 mins for delivery which is standard. The Naan was stale and felt reheated. Chicken was nice but sauce a bit thin. We ordered flavoured rice but when meal eventually arrived they had put pilau in as well. This is a waste. If a dish comes with rice, say so. Will go back to our usual in Winchester road.

Ordered for delivery between 5 and 5.30pm. Phoned for update at 5.40 and was told it was out for delivery. Didn't arrive til 6pm and was not particularly warm either. Disappointed with service. Ordered starters and they no longer come with side salad or sauce of any sort, even though it used to before. Main courses, tikka masala and chicken bhuna, was six bits of chicken in a big pot of sauce. Seems the increase in costs has massively affected the meals but the cost to me had also gone up. Quite disappointing tbh, and we've ordered from there many times. Wouldn't necessarily stop me ordering as taste was good, just definite drop in how much you get!

Would of been five stars but was expecting salad with the mixed kebabs as per picture on the menu, rest of the food was good.

Food was luke warm and late arriving, rang them to be told we can replace corma and madras but because I had already mixed it on a hot plate nothing they could do, then the reply was we can get just the corma out to you, so I then replied what about the rice it's luke warm and how long will it take to get here, to be told not sure I'm diabetic so ordered the food so it would arrive roughly within time frame, told them don't bother and we will go somewhere else in future, customer service horrendous, I'm a courier myself, the customers pay my wages as without them I wouldn't have a job, if you want nearly cold food then yr in luck nearly £40 down and no decent hot food disgusting

Avoid this dump! Mediocre food is not worth the exceptional wait time or hassle. Staff is incompetent in handling customer concerns.

Been going to emon’s for 15+ years, always been fantastic but change of chef recently, ordered the usual but they made some sort of madras instead of a chicken tikka and naan stale, solid and inedible- I really hope they sort it out ☹️

Flavourless. Incorrect order and so late, no refund available. I can make a better curry!

Great food, great prices, fast delivery, easily the best Indian food in Southampton

Ordered at 6:46 arrived at arrived at 8:32 after calling to find out where it was. Food was cold, leaked everywhere in the bag. Waste of £40 odd quid, will not be ordering again! Although is a shame as the food was actually good, service lets them down.

Placed an order and waited 1hr20mins phoned the shop to ask where my order is and was told the delivery driver had just left. An HOUR later still no delivery (i live 20 mins away from shop). Been waiting a total of 2hrs.30mins!!!!

Really pretty much taste foods in there . When I ordered at first time in this takeaway then I was totally happy for services because it was clean and proper packet foods and Also has delicious dishes ..then I have ordered a lots of time in This Takeway everyday was same service. Food was actually tasty and would've warranted 5 stars if not for the service. I pre-ordered this meal for 5.30-6pm delivery. The food was started to be prepared at around 5.30pm and was out for delivery around 15 minutes later. This is however where it all fell apart. The eta for the order was 5.55-6.15pm later than requested however not a problem though as 15 minutes wouldn't kill me. The food didn't turn up at 6.15pm and so I waited patiently till 6.30pm and gave them a call and they responded promptly and said they would call the delivery driver. The guy couldn't reach the delivery driver but said the food was out for delivery and would be 10-15 minutes more not a problem. 10-15 minutes went past then I waited 30 minutes again before calling to which I was told the driver went back to the restaurant and the food was being reheated before going back out. The food then took another 20 minutes before it was delivered. The driver told me he was waiting around for 15 minutes outside but couldn't get my number from the uber app as he was having issues with it. This is fine except the fact I gave the restaurant my number over the phone and they tried contracting the driver who didn't respond. So I don't really believe this excuse. Food was promptly opened and the curry had spilt everywhere luckily it was just the oil leaking through the lid and not the actual curry. The food was tepid there was no way it was reheated so at this point I called the restaurant again to let them know and they said they would speak with the driver. I was expecting at least a call back to explain what happened or something for my time. The curry was at 40 degrees according to my thermometer so it just felt warm in my mouth. However credit where it was due the food was actually very tasty even cold. Shame as I though this would be my next Indian takeaway after my usual closed in January. This was my 2nd order as the 1st one was good but I will no longer be using this place. Luckily Ubereats pulled through and the money was refunded.

Best bhuna I've had in years (been eat curry for over 55 years)only criticism would be the nan and this is in general not only Emons but they used to be well cooked and( burnt ??)which was lovely thank you Emons

We ordered from Emons for the first time tonight and the service has been absolutely disgusting. We placed an order at 6 o’clock and were told it’d be an hour wait, almost 2 hours later we are still waiting. We tried to call many times but weren’t able to get through and when we did finally get through the man on the phone had an awful attitude, no apology and didn’t seem to care at all that we’d been waiting for so long and weren’t able to get through to enquire about where our order was - he then claimed the driver had only left 5/10 mins ago for an order placed over an hour and a half ago! Absolutely disgusting. Avoid!!! If I could give it no stars I would.

Absolutely loved this food ,I had a vindaloo curry and I must say the spice 😍 was by far the best I've had in 34 years , chicken tikka was beautifully tender. The spicy Poppadoms are nice I will definitely be placing another order for the family and I! highly recommend this place very good value for money food is divine can't wait to dine in at this restaurant highly worth ordering for this place , quick delivery and friendly delivery guy

Ordered today through uber eats Even though they forgot my pilau rice, the order was so delicious! Meat biryani with the white sauce was amazing. The chicken tikkas were good as well

Wow. Easily the best takeaway I've had in the South East of UK. Incredibly fragrant and well cooked dishes. We had the Lamb Tikka Rogan Josh and the Saag Chicken. Just beautiful. Thank you so much, we will definitely tell everyone we know about this.

I Explained on the telephone whilst ordering that I like like madras but not so spicy (I know awkward customer right haha) and the gentlemen made special for me 🙏🏼. absolutely loved it along side my chicken tikka masla! Will be ordering again for sure

Curry turned up 45 mins late and was very cold. Also tasted like vinegar with the meat being very chewy, so had trouble eating it. Curry was very bland in taste. Never ordered curry from here before and will definitely not order again.

We arrived by boat to Southampton last night and the crew were all starving. Emons came up as the best scoring takeaway on Google maps and we weren't disappointed! Absolutely fantastic, one of the best takeaway curries I've eaten. Great food, really friendly staff and very good value. Highly recommend and will be back next time we're in Southampton.

Hi just moved to Southampton. Looked for an Indian takeaway in Shirley. I found Emons. A typical no nonsense Indian takeaway. Basic shop and kitchen. That delivers fantastic Indian food. Plus a free dish over £15. I class myself as a curry coniseur As part of my family from India 🇮🇳. I would highly recommend this Indian takeaway I will be going back there regularly. 😋

This is a very nice Indian takeaway I have to say! The menu is very good to read as well , I had lamb Ceylon, it is nice kind of hot. Nice experience!

The head waiter, was very kind. He checked on my friends and I. He also gave us free food on the house, because they’re was a lot of us. It’s child friendly and great to come to at night when there are no other food options.I recommend to come to this restaurant if you’re looking for good sized portions, great tasting food, and good service. This should be everyone’s first choice restraint as it is so good.

Emons is a good shout for those late night cravings when you want something quick and for a reasonable price. Highly recommend ordering directly from the restaurant and avoid using any apps as the prices on the apps seem to be skewed and it appears as items will cost you an arm and a leg. Quality is above average, flavour is all there, portion size is very reasonable and customer service is always grand.

Specially the biriyani and vegetarian dishes are always superb and expectable. All tanduri dishes + Patia, Dunsak and Jalfrazi Are unbeatable to compare with others curry restaurant.

Just ordered a takeaway from Emons, our usual Indian takeaway. The delivery driver phoned because he couldn't find the address, 10 minutes after telling him, he turns up with the cheek to ask for a tip as he had to climb some stairs. Of course he got a tip as usual but if I'd answered the door instead of my husband I would of told him to take a run and jump (back down the stairs). We won't be ordering from you again Emons.

Ordered from here recently when we stopped in Southampton during a family staycation road trip. Food came piping hot and was flavoursome. Only thing I’d say is that it’s slightly overpriced but even then we would probably order again if ever in the area.

Best Chicken Sag ever! My wife absolutely love it. My son and I had had the wraps and chips which were delicious. All cooked fresh and a complimentary dish of garlic rice which was superb. Very friendly service. We will be back very soon.

The best take away restaurant I have ever tasted, and an excellent example of Asian cuisine.

Me my partner and our friend ordered from there and every single piece of chicken we go was raw all the way through and my partner ended up with food poisoning and they only refunded us the money for the nan bread

Very welcoming. Great range of dishes especially vegetarian. Looks slightly tatty takeaway, but the food is excellent and good value. Not to be missed.

Very disappointed as reviews showing 4.5 star's the butter chicken was watery like its just come out of the freezer and defrosted in the microwave no flavour whatsoever like the rest of the meal I definitely won't be ordering from there again

Very disappointed with my meal. ordered a butter chicken & lamb curry, hardly any meat in the tray, dry chicken and lamb, sauce was watery (appeared to be a frozen batch) lamb was extremely chewy. Would not recommend and will definitely never be back. Don't waste your money.

Ordered from Emon's to watch the footy, glad I did as it really was a comfort when England lost to Croatia! They always provide great tasting food. Colour of their curries are always spectacular. Very pleasing to the eye soon as that takeaway box is opened!

Ordered from here last night to try a new local Indian after moving house. Fully expected to be disappointed due to the name and the exterior of the place. Ordered a meat dhansak (lamb and beef I think), vegetable dhansak, 3 chipatis, 1 Puri, 2 * onion bhajis, a lamb samosa and mango chutney. The whole meal came to just over 15 and was easily enough to feed myself and Mrs for 2 meals. Rice also came free with a curry. Bhajis and samosa were light and delicious and the dhansak was on point. Would recommend, and will definitely be ordering from Emon again.

I went there last month after hearing through the spread of mouth that this is a fantastic place. Yet when i arrived the food was cold and unedible and the staff treated me poorly by insulting me.

I’ve been using Emons delivery service for years and never been disappointed and almost always very pleased, excellent food and service.

Stumbled upon this place over 20 years ago, never had bad meal. Ceylon is a must for hot curry lovers

I wouldn't even put a star used to be really good and now 3-4 times I've ordered there's been hardly any chicken in the dishes any more and then I get my meal where the chicken isn't even cooked and it seems like the delivery driver is eating some of the food as there's bits missing never!!!
