The Lyric Bar has a lovely roof terrace. Not the most extensive drinks options but what let’s it down is plastic disposable glasses. If we have to drink out of plastic then venues should invest in proper plastic glasses. If the Menier can do it so should other theatres.

We reserved a table on the roof garden as it was such a lovely day for a bite to eat after a matinee at the Lyric theatre. There were 3 of us and we ordered sundried tomato aranchini (little rice balls), with a dip to share, and we all decided to try the boneless jerk chicken thighs - one with fries and 2 with salad. It was served with a lovely fresh, slightly spicy coleslaw and a fabulous mouth tingling spicy pineapple sauce on the side. How can anything so simple be so tasty?! Delicious! My only niggle was that as two of us asked to swap our fries for a salad, we were slightly disappointed to get a few bland salad leaves - nothing like a nice mixed salad! The wine was limited but ok and the whole meal was very reasonable. Definately would pop up here again if in the area!

My experience was so poor, I am at a loss to know where to start! Bullet points: table pre-booked for 18:15 attending theatre at 19:30. Spent 18 minutes at bar waiting to order; paid. Drinks not correct so had to add to order; food not correct so had to add to order again. 19:05 food started to dribble out; veggie burgers had no salad garnish - "We're busy" (there were lots of staff but three times I was told that they were busy). At 19:15 it was clear my main course was not coming so I went to the counter and was told we'd had everything, luckily I'd insisted on a till print out detailing my order (wasn't offered) and showed them. After discussion they agreed to bring my cold sharing platter. It was plonked on the table but was missing items - no bread, no falafels, no pickles. I wasn't given plates. I went back to get staff, who questioned my complaint, so I fetched platter and showed them. More discussion, chef showed server (restaurant supervisor) separate plate that had bread and falafals on which he'd forgotten. By this time it was gone 19:20. I said I didn't want food and would be back for a refund after the play. Went for refund and was told manager busy, he'd be along. They refunded entire bill for our table of seven (I've only only detailed a few of catalogue of errors here!) what is most galling is attitude of staff. They were, apart from one young man, unprofessional, clueless and chaotic. There were lots of staff available. Added to this they thought my position funny and even had the cheek to ask why I was so cross and call out "have a nice day" as I was leaving. Rude and incompetent - a disasterous combination. Fortunately the play was great. I know they were busy BUT it's a theatre bar and grill so you'd expect it to be busy between 18:30 and19:30 and that they would know their short menu inside-out! Never again!

We were here for drinks 30 mins before a performance. There were about 5 people behind the bar, but service was unbelievably slow - they just seemed to be mooching around, with no oomph. Decent Crazy Horse beer, highish prices for what is a very basic bar/cafe with no comfort.

Without wishing to sound overly critical, this restaurant has the look and feel of a canteen. My husband and I both had the pre-theatre burger meal deal, which was okay for the price, but nothing special. The outside area was popular, but the tables were all booked, so we were stuck inside. On a positive note, the staff in the restaurant and the rest of the theatre were all friendly and efficient, and clearly enjoyed working there.

Booked a section, which wasn’t allocated, we were told to sit anywhere. The Cafe is downstairs, Bar on the terrace, upstairs. It felt like I we were in a crèche! Why are children allowed in a bar?! Very off-putting so we left. Too much noise and running around. Not impressed at all. Especially as it was my birthday!!

Never eaten here before. Bought the burger "meal deal" as part of the ticket booking for £12.50, which does work out a couple of quid cheaper as the burger on its own is £11. Despite there being loads of places around the venue to eat, I thought it might be easier to eat in-house. There was a small mix up with my booking at the start which was quickly sorted. Staff were all friendly. The meal deal was for a burger and a drink, and there is a veggie option. The food itself was fine. I liked the fresh salad in the burger, and chips were ok, though I didn't really like the spicy coleslaw. It looked nice and seemed fresh made (not commercial rubbish) but the flavour was something that just wasn't to my taste (so not their fault). My main issue with the restaurant (in fact the whole building) is the place is cold - both physically and in atmosphere. It is utilitarian with an odd layout on multiple levels and whilst they've decorated it with nice lighting and artwork it just was not cosy. Furniture is square and hard. Definitely not the place for a relaxing or intimate dinner.I may possibly eat here again for convenience.

Just visited the Lyric and decided to try this little restaurant - located just away from the main bar. We had the house wines, which were very nice - and a very pleasant meal with interesting salads. The selection is small - which is always a good sign. Two of us had the hamburgers which were very nice and one had the tiger prawns - equally good but rather a small helping. You have to order and collect your drinks at the bar - and order your food - which is then brought to the table. For that service there is a 12% service charge added to your bill!!

Had quickish lunch yesterday in the cafe downstairs and was v delighted with the soup - it was deliciously thick and tasty - one of the best I have ever had. Lovely bread to accompany too. I know this is not a full meal but on this basis I would def return and urge anyone else too. Easy to overlook soup and not make it very well

We had lunch at the Lyric after seeing a pre Christmas children’s show in the Theatre mainly due to convenience etc. Not the best of settings as off the entrance to the doors ( to the smaller studio theatre etc) with people queuing up for the next performance etc, although to be fair there is better seating further back beyond a central staircase, it’s all a bit impersonal as the theatre is itself, modernist and lacking character. However, having said all this the food was actually very good - we had a burger, sea bream with a quinoa salad and children’s chicken and chips. Maybe I am being a little harsh for only giving three stars but then again the ambience of a restaurant is an integral part.

We took advantage of the pre-show dinner options and I admit that this is probably my own fault for not shopping around more as many cafés around the Lyric have similar deals which looked a lot more appealing than my wife's burger ended up doing. My vegetarian burger was fine, the mushroom very tasty and the bread just right, too, but her burger consisted of a fairly condiment-free patty and a whole lot of very dry burger bun that she wasn't able to finish. We should have both gone for the veggie option and probably shopped around a bit more!

We had tickets for lunch following a Christmas show with our grandchildren. Nothing on the kids menu they liked but we were offered an adult burger shared between the two. Thus far fine. They served my wife's and my burger. 15 minutes later and after asking for the children's meals still nothing. Our meals were cold and they had served other tables the same meal we were looking for. Eventually after having promised it was just coming it arrived. The quality of the food was not great but just about ok for the price.........if it were hot. With so many options locally give this place a miss.

Despite the very helpful and friendly staff, our pre-show visit was a great disappointment. The chicken skewers at £9.50 consisted of one small skewer and a few lettuce leaves. Similarly, the lamb skewer, which was so dry that it was uneatable. The menu mentions a slaw relish, which was brought after we had asked about it and had already finished. We ordered chips as a way of filling up!

We arrived at 6.40 to eat before a show that started at 7.30pm. We found a table and then queued for 10 minutes to get served only to be told it would take at least 20 mins for the food to arrive so we might not get to see the show. So we ordered snacks - olives and houmus. When hadnt arrived after 10 mins we were told that too would take 20mins. Olives houmus and bread, 2 small glasses of wine crisps and nuts - £30! Rude service - after our second enquiry we were viewed as very annoying. It was supposed to be a birthday treat for my friend - very disappointing. And the show was terrible!

We made a reservation for a pre theatre dinner. On arrival the waiter pointed to our table and said "you are over there". So we walked to table ourselves and waited for him to come over. We waited for 15 minutes whilst he stood at the kitchen doing nothing. One of group went to ask what was happening only to be told we had to order at the bar and there was a 20 minute. No apology so we left as would not have time to have had dinner before the play. Shame as the menus looked really nice.

We ate here prior to a recent preformance of Tipping the Velvet, on a Saturday evening. We booked ahead of time.Seating is well laid out, not too close you feel you are sitting on someone else's lap!Service was prompt and polite. We had a fussy eater and food was served minus various things as requested with no fuss.we ordered Mount Grace Lamb with Feta salad, and the Dexter burger. Both were delicious, hot and freshly prepared. The burger was homemade, not processed and cooked medium, which is standard practice. we were not asked how we would like it cooked (not a problem as my party likes medium cooked burgers) so maybe bear this in mind if you like your well done. It's good value for money, in my opinion. This area is also where they serve interval drinks - this was not an issue either, as staff were very quick, and there is another bar upstairs, so customers were evenly spaced out between the 2.

If you've booked for a play at The Lyric Theatre Hammersmith, I would recommend this as a good spot for a quick pre-theatre bite to eat. It's not particularly romantic but is perfect for an early family supper. We had the burger and hot dogs, a gorgeous grilled lamb dish with a fresh Mediterranean salad and the mixed grill. It's definitely all about the meat but the coffee afterwards was good too and the service pleasant.

We took four grandchildren to the Lyric for a matinee and booked the theatre restaurant as it offered a children's menu. We had a very friendly welcome and didn't feel any pressure at all when we dithered over our choices. Three of the children actually chose from the adult menu as they preferred the choice. This was not a problem as the prices were very reasonable for delicious and healthy food. The home made pickles were especially delicious.

Like another reviewer we had booked to see Bugsy Malone (which was great!) at the Lyric Theatre and checked online to see if there was anywhere to eat in the theatre beforehand. No real expectations - went up to see what it looked like - was a lovely day with a light breeze; there was space in the rooftop garden so we decided to stay and give it a go. Suited us very well as we weren't looking for a big meal; there was a good atmosphere - not least because there were lots of youngsters there for the show: so family friendly! Food from the grill, 'gourmet' burgers and salads. A transformed space and altogether a very good experience. Hope to return!

Our family were attending the Lyric Theatre to watch the musical Bugsy Malone and prior to arriving in London had been researching local pubs and restaurants for early evening dinning, when we noticed the Lyric Grill and Bar had recently opened and was located at the theatre. Having reviewed the online menu we decide to book a table online for the following evening. We received a booking confirmation call from the restaurant the following morning. On arrival we were shown to a table on the outside roof terrace as the weather was dry and pleasantly warm. Although the menu is limited it suited our tastes. As the performance drew nearer, the roof terrace filled with not only other dinners, but groups of people enjoying a drink, making a lovely ambience. My only criticism is that there is a problem with the internal extraction from the kitchen area and the smoke from the grill was rather overwhelming at times. Overall, a lovely restaurant that delivered a great start to a great evening.

Booked the roof garden outside for a pre-theatre dinner before Bugsey Malone. The menu has recently been changed and is a bit limited. The children's menu is not that great with a choice of a chicken wrap a hot dog and the hotdog is small. The sharing grilled meat dishes are expensive £24 for two as you need to order £3.50 sides at least two or three. The meat was over cooked esp the pork and was all pre cooked. Nice latte and good service oh and nice puds but overall not great.

Really horrible experience here after I heard such good things about the reopening. At the bar, my friend and I tried a place our order, but the woman in glasses refused to serve us as two other girls were ordering for the same table elsewhere. She was very rude and we waited ages just to place our order. We then waited an hour for our food to arrive, other people on the table got theirs even though we ordered directly afterwards. In the end we had to cancel our order to go into the show as it had started! They brushed us off and then finally tried to give us food, but we would miss more of the show. So they just put it under a lamp to give to someone else later. The staff didn't care and it was really upsetting. I felt dizzy and hungry through the performance, ruined the whole experience for me.Not coming back again.

I took advantage of the restaurants opening week offer and dined here with colleagues for lunch. I was surprised to find such a cool and contemporary space hiding in the Lyric. The menu was quite limited but had enough to suit my tastes. The service was a bit slow but I think that was owing to the opening week offer. I ordered the sea bass and pickles whilst my colleagues went for the chicken and hummus. The food was surprisingly really good and I think the fish was the best looking dish. I would highly recommend this space especially when the sun is out as it has a nice roof garden.
