Lynwood Cafe in West Oxfordshire

What a fab coffee shop. Great coffee, yummy sourdough sandwich, thoughtful staff. This is clearky loved by locals as there was a steady stream of people whilst we waited for our friends outside. We will be back at New Year!

Was quite busy, but managed to get a seat. Table was dirty. Had scrambled egg on toast, sausage and egg sandwich and 2 large mochas. The bill was £27. The drinks were nice but tiny. The scrambled eggs were pile of runny slop, completely undercooked. The staff member said this is how they are meant to be done. I could not eat it. The toast was rock hard. Disappointed, expected perfection for the prices charged. Left feeling hungry.

Food was fine, meagre coffee size and the music was far too loud and bass heavy. More appropriate for an exercise class. Not a great atmosphere. Very expensive.

All the times we’ve been to a Lynwoods’s before the food has been great, but this time we went it wasn’t as good. I had the shashuka which came a while before all the other food and my coffee. It was also just placed on the table, without a word from the waitress (not very good customer service). My eggs were fully cooked as well which was a bit disappointing. My sister had the scrambled eggs and veggie sausages, the eggs were over cooked and the sausages were tough. The coffee was good but the food and customer service could definitely be improved.

Ok. Very expensive. We ordered 2 sausage sandwiches and a shakshuka. Shakshuka came first, egg not cooked. I let them know and was told they would put it back under for a few more minutes. When it did come back out the egg was hard and rubbery! Although the sauce was lovely and tasty. Sour dough bread cracked my tooth - it was that hard! Sausage sandwiches (also sour dough) were tasty except the crusts were awful tough!

Lovely atmosphere and very clean. The coffee was excellent, and the food very good-to-excellent. We had scrambled eggs on sourdough, with smoked salmon and mushrooms (all delicious), and parsnip-rosemary soup with a sausage roll. Tye sausage roll was amazing. Service very pleasant and quick. Would recommend highly. Also, the tables don’t wobble ☺️☺️

I was really impressed by how quickly both the food and drinks came out as we visited on a busy Saturday morning. The Food Menu was very varied for breakfast, however the cold drinks selection was slightly limited!

I ordered the "Reuben" sourdough sandwich today and I have to say it's a knockout 10 out of 10. Perfectly balanced ingredients and thoroughly delicious! I will be returning for more! Please keep it on the menu!

This place is very shabby chic. I personally liked the ambience of the place. A bit rough and ready. I ordered a toasted sourdough bacon sandwich, which was delicious. It was a good size and represented good value. The staff were friendly and polite. I will go there again.

Not sure I've ever been made to feel less welcome at a cafe. We were visiting the area and thought it looked nice from the outside. The tables were dirty,staff uninterested and extremely unhelpful. Only such a pretentious place would have the audacity to plonk a tiny plate in front of you with a badly toasted bit of sourdough and a bit of egg or sausage ,with no garnish at all. No cutlery given, no offer of sauces or checking if it was ok. Would not recommend if you want to enjoy your meal. Only upside was the bread was nice - probably from the bakery opposite which we wish we had gone to instead.

Everytime we pass a Lynwood, there is no way we aren’t stopping and getting a loaf of sourdough!! The coffees and pastries here are delicious and freshly made. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming. The quality is constant throughout all locations. I ❤️ Lynwood

The toasted sourdough cheese and onion chutney sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! Perfect in every way

First impression, arrived at 2.60pm to an inhospitable and curt reaction from staff member, seemingly because we deigned to ask her if we could take lunch at that time. No sign of any warmth from staff. Nor the coffee which was also lukewarm! Meals just plonked in front of us. Not value for money and a very unfriendly attitude, will never return and will recommend friends to avoid it too.

Great place for a stop off to refresh during Cotswolds tour. Coffees were really good - tasty latte and cappuccino with good service

Fantastic coffee, great service and the breakfast was fantastic. My wife and I had simple eggs on toast but the sourdough was a game changer.

5 of us had cycled from Oxford and weren't disappointed with the quality coffee and cakes. Staff friendly and ultra fast service. As a club we visit cafes throughout Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Berkshire Buckinghamshire and this is a 10/10. Looking forward to returning soon

Our plan was to visit a well known National Trust property that is quite local to the small Cotswold town of Lechlade. On our arrival at the NT property it was closed; in variance with the advice provided by the NT website. Being lunchtime we retreated to this café to get a much needed hot drink, and a snack, on what was a very cold and foggy day. The weather as forecast by a well known broadcasting company said it would be cloudless and sunny (don’t make me laugh). The café however turned our disappointment into pleasure, because it was a delight. There was very good service and an excellent snack. We ordered coffee and sourdough sandwiches. My Partner chose a filling of sausages, whereas I chose a bacon filling. The very good coffee was welcome and the sandwiches were generous; in fact there was a couple of sausages that were excess to requirements that were added (as no cost to me) to my bacon sandwich. The extra meat was enjoyed, but probably more that I really wanted for a snack-lunch. Despite the extremely dank and cheerless weather our mood was lifted by this café as we made our way home to Bristol. A wasted trip really because we should have trusted the Microsoft weather forecast which was for very overcast conditions.

Fine and strong coffee served here, and a good selection of cakes and tasties. Right in the heart of town too.

Love the atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming. The mozarella, caramelised oinion and tomatoe jam sourbread was delicious. The egg on toast was a very generous portion.

We've been before and popped in for lunch again as we live nearby. My partner had the scrambled eggs with bacon (which is why we went really) and she wasn't disappointed at all - she thinks these are the best scrambled eggs for miles. I'm not a great fan of bacon, but I do agree with her that this bacon was really very good indeed.I had the Reuben sourdough melt - pastrami, Emmenthal, Russian dressing, sauerkraut, gherkins and mustard and it was absolutely delicious - by far the best I have tasted for a long, long time. I really was impressed (can you tell?)!It's not the most extensive menu you'll ever see, but as far as we're concerned with these two items on it who needs anything else?Oh, and the staff are lovely too!

Lechlade was having trouble with its electricity. Shops and cafes were shutting. We managed a cup of tea and cake here before their electricity too went off. The next morning this whole section of town was out. On our last day power was restored and we had breakfast - grenola and yoghurt for one of us, scrambled eggs for the other. Fantastic bread and toast, friendly staff and good coffee. And the day they were forced to close early they gave us a sourdough loaf to go home with. Dog friendly and people friendly too. Highly recommended.

Popped in to the new Cirencester branch for some breakfast and a coffee. It was just fab- friendly staff, lovely interior, great coffee and delicious food. A new regular spot!

At both Fairford (especially) and Lechlade the staff are unfriendly and stand-offish. The guy who served us in Fairford seemed completely put out when we asked if they served food!

We arrived as a group of 10 cyclists needing a fairly swift coffee and snack to be on our way. Lynwood staff were excellent, put extra chairs around a large table and brought all the delicious hot drinks and snacks very quickly. Most impressed and it’s why we come back when passing this way. Thank you for looking after us so well.

The food was lovely and a reasonable selection - sourdough really tasty and sausages were a hit! Great that dogs are welcome as well!

We are visiting the area for the day and stopped in for lunch. Nice relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff and I have a very happy husband. He loved his mocha and the reuben melt was delicious. Would recommend a visit.

Set in the fine market place at Lechlade and just a stone's throw from the River Thames the Lynwood Cafe is exemplary: friendly service, excellent coffee and the best sausage rolls in the land; no more need be said

I visit on a fairly regular basis but haven’t reviewed before (don’t know why). Well I think it’s time to tell everyone that cafe is absolutely excellent. The menu isn’t big but everything I cooked brilliantly and the ingredients are of the highest standard. The sourdough bread is amazing and the coffee is as good as you’ll get anywhere. This time I had the Reuben melt and a basic coffee for lunch. What a treat, especially if you need to rest a little while walking around the fabulous Lechlade and its surroundings. This place is really worth a visit!

El joven detrás del mostrador insistió en gritarnos a mí y a mi amigo como si fuéramos un par de octogenarios. . . . ok, sé que todos llevamos máscaras, pero, curiosamente, ¡no nos cubren los oídos! Hicimos cola en el mostrador y elegimos un pastel para el almuerzo y cuando lo pedimos en un plato mientras estábamos sentados, nos dijeron "no, hay que servirlo en una bolsa de papel". De Verdad? ? Estábamos interesados en ver cómo les iría a los huevos revueltos para otros comensales en la bolsa de papel. . . . . . No hace falta decir que llegaron en platos. Hmmmm. . . ¡Nunca sentí tanta "envidia del plato"! Además, no hay bebidas sin azúcar en el menú, aparte del agua. . . . vamos Lynwoods, entra en este siglo, por favor.MUCHO mejor en Lynwoods en Carterton, deliciosos pasteles en platos y café servidos en tazas reales en su mesa por un joven agradable. Sin duda alguna, nos dirigiremos a Carterton en el futuro.

What not be returning. Dirty, unfriendly place. Poor menu. Different vibe at Fairford though. Won’t be returning and would never recommend.

Fuimos a desayunar y estaba bastante ocupado, sin embargo, el servicio fue erático por decir lo menos: el joven moderno detrás del mostrador interrumpió a mi esposo a mitad de la orden para charlar con su pareja, lo que habría sido aceptable si hubiéramos terminado con lo que ¡Nosotros ordenamos!El distanciamiento social era mínimo con nuestra mesa inicial justo al lado del punto de pedido y las mesas no se limpiaban porque la gente se iba, por lo que los nuevos clientes estaban sentados en las mesas con los platos sucios que habían dejado los clientes antes, mientras el personal charlaba entre ellos.En el lado positivo, cuando finalmente obtuvimos lo que habíamos pedido, fue agradable y el personal fue amable, ¡especialmente cuando estaban charlando con sus amigos!

Popped into this lovely Burford cafe. Had amazing cappuccinos - so much so we bought a large bag of beans! The guy serving was delightful and chatty. Next time we are in Burford we will definitely pop in. Highly recommend.

Went in for a coffee & cake. I ordered a large black coffee, cappuccino with 2 cakes. The coffee was serviced before we sat, I asked if what had been served was a large and the person serving me stated “I asked you want you wanted and you said a regular!” I polite advised I’d ordered a large because I never order regular because there isn’t any value in that size. He retorted with “Ive served you with what you ordered but I will change it anyway!”. Disgusting service, to argue like that with a customer. When I sat down I decided to eat my cake first then drink the coffee, but when I came to drink the coffee some 10mins later it was cold so I drank it all at once. But was mortified to see that there was an old coffee ring remaining in the cup from the previous use. So it is either that they do not wash their items properly or I was served using a dirty cup! Which ever it was I did feel a little ill for the rest of the day thinking of drinking from a dirty cup especially in light of all that is happening across the world now! I would not recommend this venue and most definitely will it be visiting again due to rude staff & unclean crockery used!

We opted to walk the dogs first then dropped in for brunch. My husband chose the lynwood fry and was not disappointed by the breakfast. He particularly loved the sausages. I went for the croque monsieur which was great. I hope the sourdough comes from Sourdough revolution another excellent local supplier. Accompanied by a pot of tea and a flat white. Top marks all round. Thanks folks we will be back.

I was away solo in the area and went with the dog for breakfast 2 days running. Very very friendly and the locals looked very happy popping in, but as not a local I felt just as happy. Food was so tasty. Clean and dog friendly. Good service. There are a few of these in the area and I would definitely go again

Era mi cumpleaños y realmente me apetecía ir a Lynwood por su increíble burrito de desayuno, estaba tan decepcionado de haber conducido un largo camino y ya no estaba. Lynwood, tráelo de vuelta. Terminamos con huevos revueltos sobre tostadas de masa agria y aguacate sobre tostadas de masa agria. Había mucha comida y los huevos y el aguacate eran geniales, pero la tostada de masa agria era casi imposible de cortar y quemar. Me gustan las tostadas bien hechas, así que para mí decir que se quemó, se quemó. El café es excelente. Le pregunté de dónde viene y es una mezcla de una empresa en Bristol. Doggy friendly - we had our two dogs and my brother with us for a light lunch - I had the smashed avacado on sourdough and it was just what I needed, washed down with lashings of ginger beer (I had to say that - I was a famous five fan many years ago!)

We were staying next door to this cafe so went here one morning for breakfast. It is a nice place with lovely bread and cakes available. We both had scrambled eggs on toast which was really nice. The eggs were cooked perfectly. It was very reasonable and good quality so would definitely recommend it ☺️

Totally love this place...from interior and service to the wonderful food. We had the Asian salad (very fresh and lite) followed by coffees and flapjack. All very yummy. Recommend.

I was lucky enough to come across Lynwood & Co at the Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. Although the coffee was great, I have got to say that their flapjack was amazing! I will definitely be visiting the Lechlade branch soon.

Este fue definitivamente el centro de la calle principal en una soleada mañana de domingo, ocupada con lugareños, ciclistas, ciclistas y paseadores de perros. No teníamos prisa, así que no nos importó el servicio relajado, especialmente porque era tan encantador. Have been here a few times and have always had good service. The food is good and generous and the coffee is lovely. Seating plan is friendly and although you can sit by yourself sometimes it is good to sit round the large table and converse with fellow customers.

Ordered two Lynwood fry’s with bacon, requested well done eggs with no seasoning due to being pregnant. Came out undercooked and runny, sausages tasted cheap and stale also undercooked, bread tasted like plastic, mushrooms were full of oil. Refused to eat. Complete waste of money wasn’t worth the money I paid for it.

This gem of a Café is well situated and a hub for both locals and visitors. The food and drinks on offer are just simply yummy. It has a fantastic atmosphere ... warm, cosy and friendly.

Era ruidoso, lleno de perros, muchas mesas ocupadas por personas que lo usaban como una oficina. Cuando solo quiere una taza de café tranquila y un bocadillo, lo último que desea es alguien que esté hablando de una computadora portátil y teléfono, y lo que parecía ser una taza de café vacía hace mucho tiempo. Luego los perros ladrando. Pedí un café, té y un buen rollo de salchicha. Eso fue muy agradable, pero mientras comía mi rollo de salchicha noté a un hombre con un perro en el mostrador, el perro estaba a una pulgada de distancia de los rollos de salchicha, teniendo un buen olfateo. Noté a dos miembros del personal acariciando perros y sirviendo comida. Tampoco los vi lavándose las manos. Tal vez sea hora de llamar a los inspectores de salud. This is a small cafe which is 'dog-friendly'. Why they are dog-friendly rather than people-friendly is not clear.

Stopped for a quick bite before a long car journey home and was glad we did. The place is small so it was hard to find a seat but the sandwich’s were excellent and we will definitely come back again

The cafe wasn’t busy not even half full but it took 26 mins to bring the sandwich to my table. The coffee came in five mins and was finished way before the sand arrived. Gotta say the sandwich was quite good.

This cafe is in the centre of town and near the river so a perfect location. It was buzzing with atmosphere when we visited, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Ther food was good and value for money.

have reviewed this place before based on excellent coffee but in last couple of months we have visited x 3 for brunch and each time the coffee has again been excellent and the food too. The sourdough is superb and when i asked about it to improve my own baking the owner spent ages recommending books about baking and passing on tips. The cuban melt is one of my favourite things around here and there are other good things on the menu too. one of two best coffee spots in the area, and there are a lot of cafes around! Recommended.

We came here for breakfast, food was lovely, nice bread. Little pricey, but good size dishes. You can see it’s a popular place.

We booked the community for 13 people with a highchair for a birthday lunch. The food, service and staff were fantastic, no fuss or both. We were made to feel welcome and everything was done to make this a great experience.

If you live, visit, work in the Cotswolds this is a cafe that is a must visit. A small but growing chain across the county, this is a gem. Perfect for a quick takeaway or a leisurely brunch. Always busy and bustling, it has a lovely atmosphere where you can enjoy the comings and goings of Cotswold life.

The facade implies a chic Chipping Norton Set kind of place. I was in need of breakfast and a quiet place to work and thought this place would deliver. Upon entry, I was taken by surprise by the mix of dogs, kids, babies, breastfeeding mothers, wellies, open kitchen area, unholy din and hipster skip-recycled furniture. It was not what I expected in this lovely albeit stolid Cotswold village. It was more Last Whole Earth catalogue meets Big Sur and Woodstock than Lechlade.

Best for coffee for miles, excellent sourdough bread, but the star is their scrambled eggs and bacon, great service and cosy atmosphere, always busy, huge we’ll done ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅

Tiny, trendy and actually good coffee! The vegan apple cake thing was also very good.The cafe can be rather noisy and large tables means sharing.

Eggs on toast and coffee seriously good, best we have had and that's coming from bristol, the home of the brunch! You could teach most here a thing or two about scrambling an egg and brewing a good coffee😂

Hemos pasado muchas veces y finalmente logramos una visita. Domingo por la mañana lleno, pero eso es una buena señal. El menú está muy de moda: masa fermentada, Avo con tostadas, etc., así que está orientado a los visitantes de fin de semana de la ciudad (no vivimos localmente), pero todos deliciosos. Las porciones son enormes y café delicioso. Funciona. Volveremos.

Nos detuvimos para el desayuno, ya que mi compañero y yo estábamos en Lechlade para una estancia de 2 noches y no nos decepcionó, teníamos huevos revueltos y tocino en pan tostado y era muy sabroso, el pan de masa fermentada era precioso. El café estaba lleno pero no tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para nuestra comida. Sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita.

Great choices, good cooking. Prices reasonable. Good for breakfast (even on Sunday). We had the oats porridge. Amazing.

La primera visita fue hace un par de meses y encontramos la tarifa muy sabrosa. Siempre me gusta apoyar los lugares independientes por lo que fue una gran garrapata. Ayer sin embargo, el domingo por la tarde, cerraron a las 14. 00. Supongo que esto se debe a que no existe el intercambio para mantenerlo abierto, lo cual es decepcionante.

The Lynwood produces amazing coffee and outstanding carrot cake. The service was excellent. The cafe is dog- friendly. I will definitely return!

Been coming to this and the Fairford branch a year or so now. Well worth the trip! Definitely it my top 3 coffee shops. Fantastic coffee, lovely and interesting food and cakes. Wish it was a bit bigger. The rueben toastie is supreme !

Stopped in for a lunchtime snack and some coffee. It is comfortable, the coffee is good and the melts we had were large and very tasty. It was also very busy which is a good sign. Highly recommended for a tasty lunch.

We popped in and had 2 different sourdough melts. They were huge and refreshing interesting choice of fillings. Very nice indeed.

Well worth the 40k ride for the great Coffee and cake. The sausage roll is one of our favourites, but I discovered the Bread and butter pudding on my last visit was just great. Nice staff and always friendly.

We popped in for lunch yesterday. I had the muffin with sweet potato, poached eggs and bacon. Hubby had a melt. It was so tasty.

Great café! busy on a tuesday morning. friendly staff. great mocca with oatmilk. great avocado toast. hardest thing is to decide... cake or sandwich...

Had breakfast there most mornings. I tried the granola and the porridge. Granola with yoghurt and roasted peaches was lovely. The porridge was very nice but would have liked a little drizzle of honey just to sweeten it up a little bit. My husband had the poached eggs on toast and scrambled egg on toast. Both came on a huge slab of sourdough toast. Coffee was lovely (normal black coffee with milk). Staff nice and friendly. We also got a couple of here huge sausage rolls to take with us for lunch whilst out walking. Had to slice mine up into smaller slices it was so big.

Wij logeerden in de New Inn en hebben zonder ontbijt geboekt. Vlak naast de New Inn is Lynwood. Een hippe ontbijt/lunch bar met gezonde ontbijtjes ipv het vette English Breakfast wat we overal kregen. Super koffie. Heb zelfs de bonen gekocht om thuis te gebruiken.

Have visited two branches before and they do excellent coffee...the best of the cafes in Fairford for a flat white but don’t tell the others..struggled a little with the breakfast choice today but enjoyed a spiced sourdough with ricotta as an alternative...perhaps I misread the website indicating scrambled egg options.

Visiting Lechlade recently we were unable to get a table in this buzzing cafe, always a good sign, fortunately this next visit they were a little quieter. We ordered sour dough sandwiches; Reuben's and a croque Monsieur with carrot cake and tea to follow. Had we known that the delicious sandwiches would turn out to be the best we have ever had we certainly would not have ordered the cake, but then we would never have experienced the lightness and flavour of such a yummy cake. That would indeed have been a big miss. I was only able to eat just half of my sandwich and the remainder was packed up for me to take away; too good to waste. It is very rustic cafe with enthusiastic lovely staff. Perfect cafe in a beautiful Cotswold town.

A 45 minute trip to visit as this place had been recommended to us by a friend.
