Lydia Turkish Kitchen in Babergh

This was our third visit to this great restaurant. Service very welcoming and food delicious as previous visits. I had a chicken shish which was so tasty and very tender. My partner had a kofta which also was delicious. Huge portions. I am sure we will return again

Found by chance whilst staying in Sudbury , lovely warm welcome and very friendly staff. Great menu choices, and food was served in a timely fashion and well presented. Excellent starter of hummus with fried lamb for me, the sausage and halloumi whilst very tasty didn't quite match it!, My husbands main of lambs liver was excellent ,my mixed shish was very tasty. Food was all freshly cooked , and served in decent portions. Service efficient but not overwhelming. Highly recommend .

The tastiest chicken shish I have EVER had and I love Turkish food and have it as often as I can do have tried many, including in Turkey. We visited today and wow, so impressed. My husband had the meat moussaka and was equally impressed. Lovely friendly service too. Two very minor things for the point of honesty. 1, they take the side plates and put them in a pile to be re-used if not sharing starters, but they don’t know how much you have touched them. 2, we had to ask for the lunch menu at lunchtime. None of these will stop us returning when we go back to Sudbury. We had a delicious two course meal for a very reasonable price. I did ask the waiter to tell the chefs how delicious the food was, but he didn’t seem to. I hope they get the message from this review.

We were greeted with a nice welcome and were able to choose where we sat. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food choice is excellent and we were served in good time. We had such a lovely evening, we chatted to the staff and were made to feel welcome. The prices were great and the Baklava superb!

Lovely and helpful staff, attentive but never pressurising, Delicious and plentiful food - we had starters and mains, which left absolutely no room for pudding. Overall a really nice meal out, and we’ll definitely be back.

Bigger than you think but still comfortable and welcoming. Food and wine was excellent. Probably the best Turkish meal I've had outside of London.

Fantastic lamb shish perfectly cooked and tender, my husband had the meatballs which were delicious with just a little tomato and herb sauce on top. The phyllo pastry starter was piping hot and light and crispy. The service was polite and attentive with doors opened for us as we entered and left. Definitely recommend.

We decided to go there because our friend recommended, generally it was awesome the waiter was so nice i recommend it to everyone. Only problem there was a fight in the kitchen and the curly haired guy was yelling too much it really bothered us and ruined our dinner .

Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant as we don't live near but were visiting Sudbury for 2 nights. The food was delicious. I had lamb's liver starter, sautéed lamb main, served with a fresh salad and rice and matka kulfi dessert. My husband had hummus with fried lamb starter, sea bass with chips main course and also matka kulfi dessert. Our plates were wiped clean with the tasty generous portions of flat bread. We finished with Turkish coffee and tea. It was all reasonably priced and the staff were attentive and professional. We had a nice chat with the owner who was friendly and welcoming. If only we lived nearer we would be regulars!

As a person who is half Turkish and grow up here but still has been visited turkey, i can tell that this reasturant gives you the real Turkish experince and taste, the atmosphere is such cultural, service and food they both incredible, i highly recommend this place to everyone

I have lived in Cyprus and eaten Turkish food with Turkish people and felt that it was time to put Lydia's to the test. A word of warning though - don't go if you are not hungry ! The menu is extensive and the choice wide and varied - I defy anyone to say that there was nothing there for them. The portions are ample and the food delicious. Don't be afraid to ask if you want to know about something, because the staff are very friendly and happy to explain. Prices are reasonable (service charge at 10%), the place is spotless, there is a well-stocked side bar if you 'fancy one' first - there's nothing to not like. Will we return? - yes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Lydia's Turkish Kitchen in Sudbury. The food was excellent - so tasty, well-cooked and delicious. The service was brilliant and the young waitress was very helpful and polite. The hummus was excellent, the sharing meze platter tasted fresh and was a very pleasant starter, the Turkish bread was lovely and soft, and the chicken and lamb shish were so tender and flavourful. We shall certainly return to eat there, and what is even better they do takeaway.

This restaurant has a wide menu, delicious food and a good selection for vegetarians since, as well as main dishes, you can make a lovely meal from starters such as grilled aubergine, hummus, halloumi, filo pastry, falafel, and salad.
