Great local country pub. Large inside and good for a drink, to watch sport or for food. We went on a Saturday evening so less of a menu than during the day, but, huge portions, tasty food and good quality food. And all very reasonably priced. Definitely give this one a go if you like hearty portions of tasty food

. The service from start to finish by all the staff was absolutely impeccable. Food was excellent (scampi basket and salt n pepper squid basket). Plentiful for a lunch time eat. I would strongly recommend this pub to anyone and especially dog owners as the pub is only too delighted to have your 4 legged friend visit. We are all looking forward to our next visit soon. I'm also looking forward to playing a game of petanque or 2. Been here 7 times more and service and staff are still as warm and welcoming as ever. Locals all friendly human and canine alike. New menu, so had the Ribs, onion rings and chips.

Food here was so nice and really unexpected considering how reasonably priced it was. Toilet was very clean and despite being a pub wasn't rowdy and everyone was friendly.

Arrived at short notice after a long journey back after being away. Ordered food for 3 people and very good meal. Very hot. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Thoroughly enjoyed by 3 ladies lunching. Excellent Lamb shanks and hot chilli. Followed by double chocolate puddings. Yummy.

Popped in for for a late lunch with family on the way back from Flatford, good simple food well cooked, friendly staff and a good outdoor area.

Lovely food, excellent welcome and service. Fantastic local atmosphere. I only rang on the off chance they would be serving food on a Sunday evening, they were and they reserved a table for my wife and I. Glad I made the call.

No food after 7.30pm on Monday and out of the cider on tap. Won’t be back.

Loved this quiet little quaint place with its oldy rustic charm and oak beams. Food took a little longer than expected but it was worth the wait. I recommend the onion rings as a must!

This is such a nice pub, pool table. Think its only pub i know to still have a quiz machine which is fun.

A very friendly pub, from the customers to the publican, and it's dog friendly too. Very tasty, nicely cooked food and at very reasonable prices. My 94 year old father in law ordered the H & H burger and was advised that it may be too much for him, and they were right, I had the aforesaid burger and struggled. It was very very tasty and may well have it again when we go back, and we have already booked to go back. They could have just taken the order and made more money, but obviously they think more of their customers. I would thoroughly recommend that if you are in the area, you try this historic pub.

Always enjoy seeing Kim & David when ever we are playing the home teams at Crib. This time it was different as my Brother and partner Catherine came down for a visit. We booked a table yesterday evening for a meal. Both Catherine and Martin are vegan/vegetarian and were very impressed with the quality of the meals they ordered, as did I. Superb.

We enjoyed a group lunch here. Pleasant staff, who insisted on waiting until everyone was settled before starting to cook, so it took quite a while and simplest plates served first.

Thank you for making us so welcome and providing us with superb meals which were of very generous portions and great quality and value. The log fire was a very great bonus.

Just been down the for the first time. Had the H&H Burger for around a tenner. Absolutely huge and worth every penny. Landlord took time to come speak with me and friend and was so welcoming. Kid friendly with huge garden. I will be returning without a doubt. Very good. Update...also try there chicken burger basket meal.... absolutely amazing for £8!

Been going for years; great source of food, friendly staff and most customers, dogs allowed, good outdoor facilties, too. What's not to like?!

We had an excellent anniversary dinner at the H & H on Tuesday July 12th. Service was good and the food was all we expected, all in all a very good experience and we will certainly be returning.

Toevallig hier terecht gekomen. Maar we hebben er lekker gegeten. De plaatselijke bevolking zat hier ook (binnen en buiten) en we werden van alle kanten hartelijk verwelkomd. En iedereen bemoeide zich ook met elkaar op een hele prettige manier. We komen zeker terug, mochten we weer in de buurt zijn.

This is a proper pub that does food, but doesn't pretend to be a restaurant. It is completely unpretentious, and is possibly the most friendly pub I've ever been in as the locals all talk to you as if you are an old friend.

I didnt go in the pub, but the fresh fish from the van that parks in the car park on Thursday is excellent.

We went here today, beautiful pub/ restaurant. Original features still in place. With some slot machines, toilets (very clean), pool table, fireplace, quiz game machine, outdoor seating area (very cute), great parking. Lovely staff very easy to talk to. A very nice hello and welcome when you enter. The food was delicious, homemade and fresh. I cannot fault this beautiful pub. We will definitely visit again 😊

Had a really lovely meal for 5 of us (without prior booking). Super food and very happy atmosphere from the locals and their pet dogs. Will go again. Very extensive and affordable priced menu.

Very disappointed that the basket meals have gone up twice in a matter of a couple of months. They already make a HUGE profit on them. Considering not returning. Price was £5.99, then about two months ago it was £6.50 and now it’s £7.25. Too expensive, now it’s not an inexpensive basket meal.

Had a bit to eat and drink, people were realy friendly. Food was lovely, nice garden area to sit in.

9 of us Popped in on a booze cruze Saturday, staff where friendly & helpful, had bar snacks which came out staggered which was fine as we was told this will happen as they are very busy, food came out hot so no one minded. Will go back if that way

Friendly bar staff and a good range of lunch options on the menu. I had a 5 bean chilli with garlic bread and rice. A pint of Tribute beer made for a good lunch while watching the rain through the window.

Lovely friendly pub. Located in a very beautiful village. Staff are friendly and chatty, as are the locals. Glad to see it open on easter monday. Probably the nicest cheesy chips in the area and at the lowest price.

Popped in for lunch on the way from Bury St Edmunds to Frinton. Just turned up: no fuss. Lovely warm welcome. Woodfordes Wherry on tap. Nicely kept. Wife had scampi and chips. Couldn't eat it all because it was huge. She finished the scampi though! I had a prawn jacket potato which worked well. The other clientele was amiable too which was nice. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Many thanks for this great experience. If you stay in the FSCentre, I will recommend greatly.only 5 min drive and the staff is incredibly welcoming, professional. The food is so yummy with a price very reasonable. I would add maybe a few starters and the tea drinks please.

Dinner for second night on the bounce. Good old fashioned pub grub in a proper village pub. Staff and customers were very friendly. It all makes for a pleasant evening out.

Place looked nice while passing, as we was paddling nearby. Straighy away felt like they didn't want to serve us or have our custom. Still seem to be enforcing masks after freedom day, but we sat outside anyway so wasnt a big issue. Asked what ales they sold as was only doing table service? Fair request or so I though. But seemed like too much trouble. Lots of other little things and general blunt attitude that ruined the ambience. Food menu looked really good but we didn't dare ask if they were still serving or not. Not sure if the Lady serving us was having a bad day, needs to retire or move out of hospitality. Won't be going back.

A gem of a place including the people. The locals made you feel just as welcomed as the staff did. From the booking to the service and food the whole experience was faultless. The vegan shepherd's pie was delicious and the menu offers varied dietry choices. Portion size very good and all veey good value for money. Definately will be returning in the near future.

We were on a club motorcycle ride,and the Organizer had booked a couple of outside tables for us, it wasn't too bad a day weather wise, the staff were great,one took our food order,and his colleague,took our soft drinks order. Everything went like clockwork,the service was good too, and there weren't any complaints with any of the food orders. I just had what I thought would be a snack,a basket meal,of a chicken burger with fries and salad.very nice,thanks,and very filling, and we will definitely be back sometime soon. Well, that's if we can get a table,now we've told everyone how good it is there.lol.......

Have had 2 days of illness having eaten the overcooked, overfried, unpleasant seafood platter. Fried in batter? I was told it was fresh prawns, calamares, salad etc!! Not what I had!!!

Swamped by drunken teen-agers, great if you're a drunken teen-ager, if you're not I'd go somewhere else....
