Great Motorhome stop over plenty of room

Considering it's supposedly a theakstons pub,the choice of ales falls short,old peculiar not to be seen,not even bottled

Beautiful pub , friendly staff and well maintained . The food is gawjus too . Well worth a look 👀 👌 😍

The landlady (Sarah) is very nice and the locals very welcoming. Our second visit and we will be back.

Second week have attacked the new Fish and Chip Menu. If anything it was better than first week. The Skate was full of flesh Scampi was large pieces The batter was crisp and tasty a substantial portion of great chips. Shotley residents support our local.

First visit to this lovely pub for my sister’s birthday. Sarah is absolutely fantastic, brilliant publican they serve, fabulous food with a smile. Nothing was to much trouble. Highly recommend a visit x

Butt and Oyster rammed so had a pint and dirty chips. Just what we wanted.

Brilliant pub, friendly staff, does not try to be a fancy restaurant but brilliant food and lots of choice, have been there several times and never had a bad experience, in fact I am going there again tonight

Superb homely traditional pub. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by friendly and warm landlady. If you are nice, Sarah, she will give you extra plum tomatoes and sausage with your fry up 😊 Really nice pub

Highly recommended!!! When you walk in you are always welcomed with friendly staff and surrounding. The food is a perfect 5 stars by far for what you are paying, nothing I can say will turn you away if you want a good pub meal and drink. Also events that goes on here like cars meets, fun days etc makes me want to keep coming back. Well done to Sarah the landlady and Jamie for running a great all round pub :)

Absolutely lovely little village pub..many many memories of coming here as a little one and was lovely to return today and be welcomed with open arms. Sarah is an absolute gem and looked after us as much as she could and more! Will have to get a visit in for a roast next time I'm around this way

Stopped here with our motorhome overnight had food in the bar food was excellent the place was very friendly and the landlady was an excellent host would stop there again when next in the area

Sarah and her staff hosted our wedding breakfast to say we was blown away is an understatement, our food was amazing and the staff all worked hard to make our day special we will definitely be booking more private functions

Lovely friendly people who run pub, very knowledgeable about beers they sell. Fantastic pub food, chips and onion rings are really good as is the lemon roulade. The landlady also deals with the bookings for the camping field behind them which is nice and level and a really good base for exploring Shotley.

Great pub and great food , the landlady of the pub is soo welcoming and even have a friendly dog 🐕.....the steak I had was amazing....defo recommend this

We are camping here an thought we would give the pub a try. We have four dogs an we're pleased to hear they are welcome in the front bar. Lovely food. 6 of us an we all ordered a different meal. So many choices. Even catered for my grandson who is a fussy eater. The portions are a good size with a large variety. Thankyou

Just had a Christmas dinner at The Rose. Expertly cooked, really tasty, and great, cheerful and friendly service as always. Would recommend it, but don't want everyone knowing about how good it is here :-)

Ohh myyy goooodddd. Me and my sister's boyfriend was on our bikes and we ordered pizza and chips and omg I can't explain how delicious the pizza was. I really recommend going there I'm telling u people that. I'm still full and it was like and hour or two since we've been there.

We were made most welcome. The food was good and wholesome and the portions were large

Went for the car meet and didn't really know what to expect but happy to say it was a truly lovely experience. The staff were outstanding, polite, happy and very kind, even though they were incredibly busy (340ish cars at the meet alone), we didn't wait long at the bar, the food arrived quickly and was delicious. Perfect chips! The toilets were as clean at the end of the night as they were when I arrived at 5.30.

Heaven on Earth. Fantastic place to park the motorhome up and then wonder into a beautiful pub serving great beer and home cooked meals.

Pub decor is rather tired and the ambience somewhat gloomy but the service was prompt and welcoming and the roast dinners (with homemade puddings) were perfectly acceptable and reasonable value. A quieter alternative to the busy eateries on the riverside at Shotley Gate.

The food was absolutely terrible

First meal out since pubs reopened for me, the owners were very friendly and got our food out quickly, despite there only being two of them there for lunchtime. There weren't as many drinks available as they normally have, but you should expect that after recovering from lockdown. Ordered the Mexicano burger which was delicious!

Nicely spaced out tables outside serving a simple menu. Make sure you have the NHS app and everyone check in.

Nice little pub but I've taken off 2 stars for the way Sarah handled my complaint when finding paper in my meal. Clearly the same paper towel as the chef used to dry the salad but no discount or meal free, not even a free drink. Not good customer relations. Didn't go back after that.

We had a lovely meal with the children. Absolutely recommend it!

Almost deserted at lunchtime on a Thursday - just three regulars propping up the bar. I popped in for a drink in the public bar and found the staff friendly and helpful. Huge lounge area, deserted.

Stopped in for a spot of lunch. Just had a sausage sandwich and chips. The chips were lovely and chunky, best I've had in ages. Prices were good. The lady behind the bar was lovely. I recommend dropping in.

A surprisingly warm, friendly welcome from the lady publican; unusual for a non local in a remote pub. Adnams and Aspal cider. Great food choice; cooked meals and bar food. Very much a community pub with many trophies and charitable causes. Lovely walking area, not far from Ipswich or you can cross the bay from Harwich by ferry.

Came here with a big group, the staff were absolutely lovely and the food was some of the best I've ever had at a pub, at an amazing price. I think the chips might have been the best I've ever eaten!! Only downside was that because we were such a big party (12) our food came out at different times so some were finished before some had started.

Delicious food. Friendly atmosphere. Will certainly be back
