Luxury Ice Cream Co in York

Unfortunately the Luxury Ice Cream Company online menu is wrong. I was there on Sunday afternoon intending to have a banana split and buy my grand-daughter a Biscoff sundae but neither of these was on offer. The LICC did not respond to my email the day before our visit and their telephone number was not recognised. Having said that, the ice cream we did have was delicious.

Be prepared to gaze at the counter for quite some time- such wondrous flavours! I managed to decide on Butterkist Toffee Popcorn which was wonderfully sweet (though the bits of popcorn were a tad soggy)

Excellent ice cream! Tried carrot cake which was delicious and tasty tiramisu, as well as apple and blueberry ripple which was super refreshing and lovely vegan biscoff. You have to go 👏👏

Called in on a very sunny Sunday for an ice cream and I had the custard cream flavour in a cone. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Definitely be back

We were after a sweet treat and popped in as it looked nice and pretty from the outside. The decor inside was nice too! There were plenty of gelato flavours to choose from and toppings also! I went for Malteser flavour and chocolate drops on top. It tasted delicious!! They have a good section of shakes (for example: coffee shakes, thick gelato shakes, sorbet shakes) and different options for cones/tubs. Make sure you ask for a rewards card if you live in the area. Once you've bought your tenth item, you get your eleventh small tub or cone for free. The next day, we tried another ice cream company in York called Amorino to compare. And I've got to say LICC's ice cream had much more flavour. I would definitely visit LICC again for another ice cream and even milkshake if I'm ever in York.

Popped into Licc one Saturday afternoon. It has been ages since I've been to this place. Used to visit all the time when my kids were younger. The ice cream was as devine as ever. I had 2 scoops in a tub, custard cream & biscoff and peanut butter & rolo. At £5.95 it was almost double what we used to pay, but to be fair, I did get a decent portion. Why I scored it 3 stars, well, the person serving me was actually quite rude. I was looking for change in my purse and asked how much it was, they replied (I kid you not) "it's on the board". The board was on a side wall, not in front of me, so I was not being a numpty! Was it too much effort to say those 3 words: "five, ninety five'? When I then asked if it was OK to pay by card (as I didn't have enough change), they laughed!!!! I couldn't quite believe it. So to sum up, amazing ice-cream, service not so much.

Great ice cream, friendly service and seats in the sun . Great choice of flavours - was hard to choose and a choice of cones.

Fab ice cream, such a variety of flavours and the staff were so lovely. Loved the fact we could sit outside too. We would definitely return if we were in York again

Amazing range, flavour and toppings, what more could you want?! The shop is pretty inside and out too (although I really disliked the faux foliage, perfect apart from the roses!) A real gem.

I can't comment on the ice-cream, but the cakes and tray bakes are, quite simply, out of this world delicious! There's an abundance of choice too, meaning a second visit is very much on the cards.

Perfect central location for an ice cream in the summer sun - sooo many delicious flavours and toppings to choose from including vegan options. The girls who work there are super friendly and it’s a gorgeous looking shop too, will definitely be back! 🍦

I have been visiting this ice cream shop since it opened 9 years ago and after my recent visit felt compelled to write a review. This used to be our favourite Ice cream shop. I loved the pretty decor and vintage china and the ice cream was perfect. The last few times we’ve visited I’ve noticed a strong smell of stale milk. We’ve all still quite enjoyed the ice cream but at £3.95 for a simple cone I’m finding it quite expensive considering the decor isn’t as appealing and the cleanliness and friendliness of staff isn’t optimum. I’d be so sad to see this shop go but I really feel this feedback needs to be considered in order to give the shop longevity.

I take my son here regularly. The staff cannot be more helpful, they have different selections of home made gelato each day. Really great prices and a friendly place to sit and have a sweet treat.

The best ice cream truly amazing fun flavours and such a quirky place love the sprinkles on the ceiling. The staff are always soo friendly especially Kelly always looks after me and my family. The bake house also owned by same owner oh my god the bakes toooo delish

Over some years we have delighted in calling in here, when able get to york. My wife proudly presented a card where we were nearly completing 9 stamps. Told that new owners, card not valid, needed a pink one. Start again. How petty. I gave the woman behind counter my icecream cornet back. We walked out. Never to return. £5 for a rather small cornet, glad she so petty, would have stuck in my throat. Not a treat any more. Wandered around found Roberto. 3 goodram gate. Near wall exit Wow. More ice cream, cheaper. Very good ice cream too. Worth the stroll.

Amazing ice cream all made on site! Vegan options were AMAZING! Very reasonably priced for a generous portion of ice cream. Great care taken over allergies, my daughter's nut allergy was treated with the upmost care and professionalism. They even opened new toppings so she could have some. Really impressed. Took away all the anxiety and stress. Thank you!

We love this place we have been coming for years and the ice cream is always different and on point. I had the red grapefruit and it was surprisingly good and for the kids they even had a prime flavour. If your in York and you want some ice cream go here its way better than the vendors you see around town.

This is a great spot to check out if you’re an icecream lover like myself. My girlfriend and I went expecting your typical flavours, but were met with a huge selection of stuff! Despite it being a chilly March day I wanted to try this Gelato whilst visiting York. I was not disappointed. Great flavour and superb texture. It's not as easy to find a shop selling Gelato, which I prefer, rather than ice cream. Gelato has less fat, less air and a richer flavour. There are lots of flavours, good selection of cones or tubs and plenty of toppings and sauce if you want. I tried the Biscoff flavour Gelato which was so lovely and not too sweet. Definitely would buy again. Member of staff was very helpful, professional and friendly. They do offer Vegan options.

Son fancied an Ice Cream so this was the perfect spot, so many flavours and choices of cone to choose, He plumped for the Ferrero Rocher flavour in a sugar cone, pinched a bit myself, it was lovely, was well worth the £3.95, Would happily visit again.

Popped in today, for a much needed cool treat. I knew immediately it was Bubblegum for me and ordered straight away. But as you do still curious about the other eye-watering flavours, I wanted to try. The woman (I didn't catch her name - but I believe the owner *who by the way makes these all! At hours of the morning I will never see) let me continue trying. The peanut butter was the best peanut butter flavour I've had, barr none! Servings are generous, which is never, EVER a bad thing with ice cream - because there is always room for ice cream! I absolutely love this place. The customer service and friendliness is second to none, they often ask for customer requests and also do fantastic offers. They're flavours are a mixture traditional and unusual such as milky bar, pink wafer and mini egg. The ice creams are delish and extremely well priced for the amount you can. I can't fault them one bit, amazing people amazing icecream and amazing place.

We visited in half term and although the shop had been decorated for Halloween it really seemed to lack characterThe staff were impatient and they didn’t accept card payment I only had limited cash on me but they didn’t have the prices displayed clearly? I asked what flavour a Halloween special was but was told it’s just a mixture it looked like all the scrapings or leftovers mushed together We chose our flavours went to sit down the table was dirty and although 2 staff members they didn’t clear up I moved the mess from table it still needed wipe but this was never attended tooI witnessed a families have ice cream go in the floor as the ice cream wasn’t pushed in the cone and a group of young boys who were spoken to very abruptly by staff members they didn’t care.I did not enjoy the ice cream either and my children didn’t enjoy theirs enough to go back. I Certainly wouldn’t rush back.

The parlour was beautifully decorated for Halloween and the flavours available are any ice cream lovers dream.The lady working was fabulous and encouraged our usually fussy son to go behind the counter try out many of the flavours. Wow, just wow, what an amazing, imaginative and wonderful place this is. I had no idea about this place until just recently ... so I bobbed in for a cheeky lunch time ice cream ... I couldn't believe the range of wonderful flavours they had, all home made with love (you can tell) ... I enjoyed just the one scoop but will be back with the family to enjoy all the other flavours. Recently popped in to LICC and was amazed to see how many new flavours are on offer! Exceeded my expectations and will definitely be going again. The new Twister flavour was simply delicious and seems to be more new and exciting flavours than ever before!! We had multiple people recommend this ice cream shop, so we thought we’d give it a try. With a family of 5 and all different interests we had a big selection to choose from. The presentation of the ice cream is amazing, you almost didn’t want to eat it so you didn’t have to be the one to ruin its look. Me and my family from Canada walked into this lovely ice cream shop in England while on vacation. Being an ice cream lover, I decided to give it a try. I have no words to explain how amazing the ice cream was! Along with the exceptional staff . They were very helpful and family friendly. The shop was tidy and clean along with many assortments of delicious one of a kind ice cream. Heaven I must say! I give this place a five star! I am definitely coming back with so much to chose from. I travelled to York this summer -- and it was a heat wave! Wandering through this lovely city, I was looking for a refreshing treat to cool off and LICC was highly recommended! I recently visited LICC for the first time and it's such a cute and lovely ice cream shop. The staff were all very lovely and helpful. The ice cream was delicious, I wish I could've tried every flavour. I enjoyed a large tub of Mega Cookies and Cream, Oreo and Malteser which were all soooo tasty. I will definitely be visiting again!!

heard a lot about the place from my friends so me and my girlfriend thought we'd give it a go. we were blown away by the amount of choices of ice cream available, as well as an incredible selection of vegan options (girlfriend is vegan). highly recommend to go if you haven't already!

we were a group of five that had just had a meal nearby and specifically not had a sweet so we could try the ice cream here. as we arrived they had just finished clearing the fridges and were about to lock the door for the night. We mentioned we were on a birthday treat for one of my daughters and the lady welcomed us in and allowed us all to select our ice cream from the menu and she got all the ice cream from the fridge which had been packed away for the night, and it was delicious.

Been coming to Licc for years since I was a little boy and had nothing but nice things to say about the people and the ice cream but I popped in this week with my girlfriend and all the love and passion has been sucked out of the business, I'm not sure if it's changed hands but it just doesn't have the same vibe as it used too. The girls who was working was very polite and as nice as ever but I won't be coming again.

I hate to leave a negative review but feel in this case it’s necessary. I visited licc with my 12 year old and her two friends as a birthday weekend treat and was disappointed with the entire experience! I have been visiting licc for deserts for special occasions with my three daughters for over 4 years and the previous owner was always so welcoming and made every time feel special. The new owner seemed disinterested and the parlour now feels soulless and no longer has that special experience it once had, what a shame

I recently visited here for the first time in about a year and was shocked and disappointed at how much character this place has lost. I had heard management had changed but i didn't expect it to have gone down hill this much. I was served by a lovely girl but she seemed rushed off her feet due to lack of staffing on a busy hot day! My family and I have loved this place for many years, but I don't think we will be returning.

Having previously visited LICC regularly I had very high expectations of the service and products in which I was going to receive! Unfortunately to my disappointment, this business has been taken over and to say it has gone downhill is an understatement!! The customer service here is horrendous and the new boss looks like she’s never seen a smile! The lovely girls who work there are no longer able to give the great service they used to due to the pressure they seemed to be under as they are understaffed! What made LICC special and different to other shops was its little gifts and decorations which gave it its unique appearance and made it feel homely and welcoming, what is left now are empty shelves, completely ruining the character of the shop!! It is such a shame that such a popular and successful business has taken such a turn and I will not be returning again!

I was looking at the flavours and was asked if I wanted to try any, There were so many to pick from but the Apple was calling, I tried some and loved it so I had a large cone with two huge scoops, one of white chocolate and marmalade and one of the gorgeous apple of course it had to be topped with a fudge.dad had salted caramel. The price was around £8. We both really enjoyed them but I will admit, there was so much ice cream in the double, that I struggled to date it all. Next time I need to remember one scoop is enough...only problem is, what flavour to pick!

Decided we wanted ice cream after lunch so we just began wandering hoping to come across somewhere suitable...and we found LICC. Great selection with traditional and more unusual flavours. We were offered the opportunity to sample a couple before we made a decision. We both picked peanut and raspberry and very much enjoyed them.More expensive than your Mr Whippy or street ice cream seller, but the choice was brilliant, the staff were friendly and you can also stay for a sit down to enjoy your ice cream if you want to.

Spent 3 days in York and on the second night I was craving some ice cream, I checked online and I saw that LICC closed at 6 oclock and it was 7 so I planned to go the next day. After a long day in Scarborough my mom and I rushed back on the train and speed walked to the Swingate and made it there at 5:45 and they were closed even though the hours said closed at 6 oclock, they weren't just cleaning up but it looked like the had been closed for a while. Very disappointed!!

Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and immediately made our way there.Lots of flavours on offer with many guest ice creams. I personally loved the Bakewell ice cream enjoyed in a large tub along with Turkish Delight, Chocolate & Peanut and Pistachio & White Chocolate flavours.The other half tucked into a lovely looking Banana Split.Very nice prices too.Seating both inside & outside.Recommended.

Staff were super friendly. There were so many unique flavours to choose from and you can try as many as you like before you buy! We were only in York for 3 days but came here twice. We had mint aero, cherry bakewell, malteaser, mint choc chip, white chocolate smarties, raspberry and cinder toffee. Couldn't fault, absolutely delicious. Real, dairy ice cream. Previous reviews have mentioned the price. However, the price is very good considering this is freshly made and the portions are massive. I couldn't even finish mine!! Well worth a visit (or 2).

We visited York and we had to come back here to see what seasonal flavors were, they had creme egg and some mince pie and birthday cake. it was all amazing my son had a kids cone with a chocolate fox in it he loved it. Yes its not cheap but the ice cream is amazing you get lots of it and the staff are excellent.

Wonderful choice of flavours, often a new one to try along with the old favourites, like Malteser. The Stollen flavour was very good, hopefully the Ferrero Rocher flavour will still be on next week. Best flavour to date - English Trifle (with frozen jelly bits and cake in).

Last minute decision to get ice cream - fully recommend the peanut & hazelnut and chocolate cherry flavours - so good! Huge scoops and super cute decoration to look at whilst you eat.

Both times me and my partner have been to York we have come to this place and both times we have not been disappointed. The staff are excellent and attentive and are more than happy to help and let you try the flavours beforehand if you aren’t sure what you would like. There is plenty of ice cream and sorbet flavours. We opted for the Big LICC to share and we was not disappointed. Well worth the money, we would highly recommend this small place, it’s beautifully decorated inside and well worth visiting for a little treat.

We went here as part of the Festival Taste Trail and what a gem it was! So many flavours to choose from - most very different but in a good way - and the staff helpfully let you try a little of whatever you want to help you decide which one you want to buy. Not sure whether that is helpful as it just makes the decision harder as they are all good! Will definitely be back next time we are in York and have ice cream weather. This shop is tucked away in the centre of york and is a gem! The decor is cute and quirky, and they sell sweets and cake on top of ice cream - but the ice cream is the star. Theres 2 counters of options, and I’d definitely recommend getting different scoops of ice cream on your cone/in your tub as is an option. From classics like mint choc chip, to apple crumble or rhubarb and ginger, they’re all fab! Also has a good range of hot drinks and a few tables inside. Definitely recommend for a date!

Found this cafe on trip advisor and went to get waffles. It wasn't obvious they sold waffles and we had to ask. A waffle with any check of ice cream, cream, sauces, nuts and sprinkles. They were delicious, the flavour of the raspberry ripple ice cream was divine! Clean tables and a quiet atmosphere. Off the beaten track but worth the trip!

Banana split and Big LICC for lunch - heaven. Cute little ice-cream shop with seating inside and out, also cakes and coffee. Great service to top it off

It was a very hot day in York but managed to get a seat inside. This place has a great selection of flavours and the staff where very friendly and patient while the 4 of us decided what to get. Would defiantly recommend and will be back.
