No great hurry in the service. The Tuna Melt I ordered was made without mayonnaise ? And straight from a tin of tuna in brine, by the taste of it. I left it, and just ate the small salad that came with it.

Such a friendly and welcoming place. It felt like a proper community hub where the owner really cared about her customers. I had a delicious homemade soup and sourdough bread. Would definitely return

I have been to this shop several times. The ice cream is fabulous as are the cakes. The general staff are ok but the lady who I think is the owner is quite abrupt with staff and customers. She doesn’t hide her impatience and I would say she can be quite rude. Thankfully it has the redeeming features of products and location.

This is such a fantastic place. The food and drinks are wonderful. We were served by the lovely Roberta and it was great to see Lutzy again.

Great location, nice coffee (although expensive), awful customer service from the owner. Both other staff were polite and helpful. The owner did not know the wifi login details and was rude and disrespectful. If they had said their wifi wasn't working I wouldn't have ordered a coffee.

Lutzy is always so busy cooking and looking after all her customers she sometimes forgets to take a break! But all her cakes are homemade and she makes some amazing bakes! We love to sit and look out to the canal basin and watch the world go by with a cake and coffee. Beautiful food made with love by the lovely Lutzy.

If you haven't experienced Lutzys Coffee with a warm Portuguese Custard Tart (Pasteis de Nata) you are missing out in life. You may have a little wait for it at times - but there is a reason why it is so popular. Been a regular of ours for years and I don't see that changing any time soon....

Ordered a flat white, got milky Lavazza coffee. For £3.20! My local spot, also in Devon, who roast their own high quality single estate coffee, charge £2.50, AND they know a flat white from a latte.

We visited Lutzys again last week, and had perfect paninis and mouth-watering home-made cake. We have been regular customers for over ten years, and Lutzy invariably provides us with the most delicious food, fresh and yummy. Plus there is Lutzy herself, a whirlwind of busyness wrapped in smiles. She always does her very best and her best is really excellent. We look forward to our next visit.

This cafe has a lovely setting by the canal basin. It was very busy around mid morning and the staff seemed very stressed and were not too welcoming. The coffee was fine but the cheese scone was dry and tasteless and not at all enjoyable....

Great Lavazza coffee BUT shocking, stale and rancid lemon drizzle cake - inedible. The worst cake I have ever experienced. Sad because this used to be a nice place to go to.

The lady Lutzy is a delight, makes great coffee and her cakes are fabulous. Nothing better than enjoying the morning sun reflecting off the Exeter canal basin and watching the world go by.

We had a family walk all around the quay/river and wanted to find somewhere to sit and eat outside with our Airedale. All tables were clean and the owner and her staff were super friendly and apologetic that what I had ordered may take a little while. We sat outside and people watched quite happily. The food served was top class and the owner came out and apologised for our wait and gave our daughters a free dessert! I cannot reccommend this cafe highly enough....there were lots of highly priced eateries in the area but I dont think you would have had beyter food or service anywhere else! Thank you x

Certainly the best coffee for miles around, and the most delicious home-made lemon drizzle cake, now served with giant glacé cherries! A long established cafe with delightful views and a charming owner who inspires loyalty from her customers.

Called in for lunch and had excellent tuna panini and bacon and egg bap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If I could have had a G&T I would have stayed all day. I thoroughly recommend it. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic Portuguese tarts homemade every day by the owner. They are best ones I’ve ever tasted and often still warm. The service is very friendly. They also offer oat milk, amazing cakes. I always choose this cafe it’s the best one on the quay.

Popped in today to enjoy a take away lunch. We had two panni's of which were very dry and bland. Not to mention extremely expensive £15 for the two. The waitress wasn't very friendly either. Wouldn't go back.

He estado visitando el muelle durante años y la cafetería Lutzys es el único lugar al que volverás. El lugar está hecho por el propietario Lutzy, a quien sin duda conocerá a los 5 minutos de haber frecuentado el establecimiento. Básicamente se siente como si estuvieras invitado a su casa. La comida es excelente y está bien de precio y si eres nuevo en la zona te sentirás como un local en muy poco tiempo.

Este es un lugar realmente especial. Con el espacio disponible, la comida producida es fantástica, al igual que el café. El servicio es excelente. Todos los alimentos son producidos por Lutzy y son de una calidad realmente alta con una amplia variedad de alimentos para todos los momentos del día. La posición es excelente con vistas a la cuenca del canal, y muy popular, ¡también es una trampa solar!

Ideal place for a panini and coffee with outside tables near the old inner harbour ..Small ,convenient with decent food

En un día muy frío y ventoso, necesitábamos un poco de maldito café para mantener el frío alejado. Teniendo Bramble el spaniel con nosotros, no queríamos sentarnos afuera y congelarnos, a pesar de que la vista sobre la piazza es bastante buena. No hay problema, nos recibieron en el café, donde tomamos un excelente café, un delicioso bollo y un delicioso pistacho y galletas de almendras.

Hooray, Lutzy's has reopened after their midwinter break. Spoiled for choice as usual, I celebrated with a superb rhubarb cake ( which is gluten free, but you'd never guess). Great coffee; helpful, friendly and generous staff and a range of above average breakfasts and snacks. Everything is freshly made, a lot of ingredients are local, and you can tell by the taste. I for one have missed them and I am very glad they're open again.

Habiendo comprado a mi familia y amigos cercanos aquí hoy. . . . . En pocas palabras, nos dijeron que no podíamos comer nada ya que mi niña tiene alergia al maní. El gerente dijo que al escuchar las historias de horror en las noticias, ahora nunca se arriesgaría y básicamente no atendería a nadie con alergia grave. cuando tomamos la decisión de pedir bebidas, nos obligaron a esperar casi 40 minutos, el personal se disculpó, pero recibimos un reembolso y nos fuimos. Me siento decepcionado de que el gerente haya hecho que mi pequeña niña de 5 años se sienta incómoda, ni siquiera intente intentar ayudar con alimentos que podrían ser seguros para ella, cualquier persona con alguna alergia o requisitos dietéticos, le sugiero que se mantenga alejado de aquí mientras está No seré bienvenido.

Si tienes un buen día en Exeter y necesitas un lugar para almorzar, Lutzys es difícil de superar. Siéntate al sol, disfruta de un panini de tocino o un cuenco de sopa casera, luego (si vas en el día correcto) disfruta de las alegrías de una tarta de crema portuguesa de Lutzy (solo los sábados, ¡pero no me cites! ) El café es excelente y el té también es excelente. Fuimos el último sábado, no nuestra primera visita, y el almuerzo combinado en Lutzys con un paseo por ambos lados del canal, un par de horas en total pasamos en una zona muy agradable. Espléndido. Stopped here whilst on a bike ride from Exmouth. Noticed gluten free items advertised on the board outside. Had a bowl of amazing vegetable soup with gluten free toast. Could have lots of other items from the menu. Very friendly staff. Good location.

We have been using Lutzy's ever since we moved to Devon ten years ago, which I think was soon after they opened. A lovely lunch with a glass of good wine, what more can you ask for.

The mezze platter offered a good selection of local cheeses and dry cured meats, tasty home made hummus, zesty olives and freshly roasted Mediterranean vegetables and salad. With sour dough toast and perfect coffee, Its like being on holiday. The best cafe in Exeter, but I don't want to tell too many people that, in case we have to queue...

I've stopped by many times over the years but last Sunday inspired me to heap praise on this place.

Lovely place to get an ice cream, coffee, cake or cold drink on your cycle ride. Plenty of space for bikes, great seating, friendly staff.

£8.50 for a crab sandwich on two tiny pieces of bread (wasn't offered a choice of brown or white) together with a limp bit of lettuce and a couple of bits of tomato. Outrageous. Service was not good. After being served had to go back up to the counter and ask for cutlery and serviettes. Got the impression they have their regular customers who they look after well (overheard several conversations) and they certainly had a choice of bread and were made a fuss of. If it wasn't for the sunshine and the view of the river I would have been very very fed up.

Or favourite coffee shop in Exeter. Always welcoming, delicious home-made food especially the chicken soup and portuguese custard tarts.....Lutzy & her team always look after us. Looking forward to our next trip.

It was recommended by friend, so we went to check it out, and we were not dissapointed.

We have been to the UK twice this year, Lutzy's became our regular coffee stop, their coffee is the best in Exeter in our opinion. Not only good coffee but great service from the owners who made us feel very welcome. The food is also excellent, especially the Bread Pudding...... lovely.

My friends and I have been coming here most Saturday's for a while now and we haven't found anywhere that does a better breakfast than here. They take a lot of time and care over the food and service and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Also in a great location!

Have been here on several occasions and each time the food has been great, the staff so pleasant and helpful and is situated on a lovely position on the quay.. Nice and freshly made chicken sandwich with my husband having chicken soup and sour dough bread. Excellent food, service and reasonably priced. £ 10. It will continue to be our drop in lace when in Exeter. Well done to the staff.

I've stopped here twice in the last two weeks. Once while walking and another while cycling. Staff are really nice and the seating outside is ideal as it is by the Quay. Would recommend this cafe for a nice cup of coffee or milkshake!

Loved this place for years. Popped in today and our decaf cappuccino and soya cappuccino were so delicious we ordered again.

I've only just discovered this place and it's excellent. I pop in for a bacon sandwich occasionally and it's always excellent. Most cafes/pubs/restaurants struggle with bacon butties - they tend to get the bacon and the bread wrong. However Lutzys use lovely bread and they cook their bacon to perfection. The staff, all Polish I think, are exceptionally pleasant. All the food that I see served looks excellent but their bacon butties are so good I can't see me choosing anything else.

This is a very busy little cafe and deservedly so. It's great to sit outside with a view over the canal basin and people watch. The food is delicious- my wife raves about the cheese scones with sweet red pepper relish and I go for the hummus and roasted veg sandwich. The quality is always high and the service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Lutzy's is a fabulous little gem. Perfect for a weekend morning, people watching over brunch. And if you are there in time to get one of Lutzy's wonderful Portugese tarts - delicious!

We arrived at lunch time,and were very lucky to get a table for two, even the tables out side were full . Very friendly girls, and it was so obvious that the majority of the people eating were regulars. Delicious lunch and the coffee just the way i like it. We will be back. I hope we can get a table!!

This tiny cafe is a gem...the food, whether breakfast or lunch, is always delicious and served with a smile. If you are a fan of pastel da nata, portuguese custard tart, this is the best place to taste them especially straight from the oven, but you need to get there early...or they will be gone!

Lutzy's is owned and run by the lovely Lutzy herself. Originally Portuguese she has taken British nationality by successfully taking exams that I am sure many of us born here might fail! She makes the most delicious soups and cakes and naturally one of her specialities is Portuguese tarts - usually made on a Sunday.

We have spent many Sunday afternoons here following training at Exeter Rowing Club. The food is always wonderfully presented and tasty. The chocolate brownies are heaven and the prices extremely reasonable. The atmosphere on the terracina is pleasant and there is always something to watch. There is a small array of seating inside a bright naturally lit room with full glass windows looking out onto the terracina. There is plenty of seating outside too but seats often fill up fast as this cafe is extremely popular. A warm welcome always awaits you at Lutzys. It is also child friendly.

Very friendly and good food. Went there for lunch with a friend although very small inside you can sit outside. I had a bite and bacon toasted sandwich and it was delicious.

Situated in modern (pretty awful and spoils the quayside,) block of eating places on other side of river from the old quarter on the quayside. Footbridge (and small ferry in summer) across the river. Few tables inside but more out under a glass cover. Lovely place to stop on reasonable day overlooking the yacht basin and river.

Lovely place to sit outside on the quayside. We have had a cooked light lunch plus coffee here on two occasions. The staff are friendly and the food well-presented and nicely cooked. However, on both occasions it took quite a time for the food to arrive even though the coffee shop was not particularly busy. This is not necessarily a problem but just be aware of this if time is tight.

Whilst on holiday in Exeter, I was really feeling like toast for breakfast but as I am on a gluten free diet, this is not always easy and following a quick internet search, this cafe was recommended so I decided to pay a visit. The cafe itself is quite small and there wasn't much space inside but there were some seats outside under a canopy so we decided to sit there. Both my mum and I ordered a coffee and two slices of toast each and they were delivered in reasonable time by a very polite waitress. Both the coffee and the toast were just what we were looking for.

We visit Lutzy on a weekly basis - both in winter and summer, a great place to sit and relax and watch the world go by at The Exeter Quay.

...towards the end of a sunny Saturday in a touristy location, quite busy, but still the tables were being cleared efficiently, the staff were friendly, welcoming, the service was very fast, the coffee was great, as was the cheesecake - I'll be back!

Fabulous food & friendly welcome every time we go - all home-made and you can really taste the difference. It's quite small inside but makes up for it with loads of outside tables right on the quay with a great view, perfect in the afternoon Sun. Lutzy & her team are all really welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Great range of light meals, sandwiches, cakes and proper coffee. No plastic white bread here, all handcut and no matter what time of day you go it's always so fresh. The soup is served with sourdough and is absolutely scrumptious. Highly recommend a visit.

The best food you'll get in a coffee shop. Try the poached egg on toast, it's bloody wonderful. All the cakes are homemade and excellent. The coffee is also noticeably better than a lot of places in Exeter. Lots of outdoor seating on the quay too.

We visit Lutzy's every few months and have gone there since it opened around 10 years ago, lovely food and really friendly staff. Often go for breakfast or a snack after a cycle ride round the quay.

I was recommended Lutzy's by some friends as I am learning Portuguese and Lutzy is from Portugal - she's such a friendly and welcoming lady who really brings this little waterfront cafe to life! Went to Lutzys on Saturday for brunch. Delicious scrambled eggs and bacon served with some fabulous granary toast. Everyone's food was well received and the coffee was excellent too. The owner is from Portugal but has now decided to become an English citizen so Nigel Farrage can't have her deported! Finally we were treated to some port before we left. This place is a genuine gem.

We've been here a couple of times and have enjoyed the experience on both occasions. We really like the lovely home-cooked food such as chicken soup and gorgeous cheese scones, not to mention the delicious cakes. The coffee is good too. The cafe has a lovely homely feel and the staff are really friendly. Even our 12 year-old daughter likes it and she's hard to please! We'll certainly be returning and would definitely recommend to others.

My husband and I took a trip to The Quay in Exeter. We visited a wonderful little coffee/restaurant called Lutzys on the Quay. Right from when we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff. The food we ordered was excellent value for money, beautiful presentation and tasted amazing! If you are lucky enough to get a seat outside the view is wonderful.

Just stopped for coffee on Easter Saturday afternoon. Service was quite slow, coffee's ok, nothing special, charged 50p to pay on debit card which seems excessive as the coffees were £9.00 (a fair price for hot drinks), charging for debit card payment appears rather non-customer friendly.
