Lush Coffee in Scarborough

If Carlsberg did cafe’s they would probably be called Lush! After completing the coast to coast yesterday we were in need of a good coffee and a decent breakfast and wow did we get that & much more…Ross the owner could not have been more friendly and helpful after a fab breakfast, free WiFi he even took us to the bus stop and then unbelievably was prepared to come pick us up again when the bus was cancelled….can’t thank him enough and have to applaud this v kind human…dont hesitate to call at this cafe it really is a gem in Whitby breakfast/brunch scene! Ask Ross to recite his Banjo butty joke it’s a beauty!

I discovered this place wjen randomly searching on Google Maps for somewhere to pop in. It's tucked away on a small street. I just had a flat white and a Fanta, but the coffee was delicious and they had a good range of soft drinks. The staff were really friendly & welcoming. One of the best flat whites I've ever had anywhere. The food menu looked nice too. Also it was very clean.

I came to Whitby on holiday from Birmingham way, I go to cafes a lot and really enjoy a good full English and no word of a lie these guys serve the most generous and greatest tasting breakfast I've had. The People are really friendly and welcoming too!

Excellent food and outstanding service. This place is also supported by the locals which is a fantastic sign of excellent food, service with smiles and laughter. This place is a happy place and dog friendly. The atmosphere with the locals is brilliant. This place should be the first place to go. Open 9am-2pm closed on Thursday which is a shame as this is our last day 😭. Inside and outside seating however it's busy.

Little tricky finding this cafe due to one way system and obscure 'Whitby' streets where each side of the road has a different name. However, it was worth looking for. Good lunch menu, food made freshly, home made baking and a very friendly owner made this a very pleasant lunch stop. Dogs very welcome. Would highly recommend.

As with all things in life it's the attention to detail that matters. We already expected a great breakfast given Lush's ranking on Trip Advisor but when you sit down and see Heinz ketchup, HP sauce, sea salt and pepper grinders and actual sugar lumps in a little jar you know you've come to the right place!! The owner also took the time after we'd finished to come for a chat whilst he was serving and clearing tables! Simply excellent. You'll be glad you came!

Always a friendly welcome at Lush Coffee. Ross and his staff make every effort to make your visit special. The food is so good whether you want a bacon butty or some homemade cake. Yorkshire tea is served in quirky tea pots and the coffee is full of flavour. Great pricing too. Well worth a visit!

Stayed at the Royal, just up the road for the night and didn’t fancy their buffet breakfast for £13ish, had it before and although the food’s okay it’s utter chaos! Trip advisor, No1 for breakfast in Whitby? Lush coffee! Give it a go. Me the wife and the dogs stroll down at 9 and had an absolute blinding full English and a cracking cup of coffee all for a tenner each, plus free top up on the coffee. Owner is a nice chatty welcoming fella. Dogs got some biscuits, they’re happy. Left with achingly full belly’s which is an achievement (I’m 16 stone bloke who can tuck it away). Can’t recommend highly enough, sod your buffet breakfast, get your arse down to Lush Coffee.

Fantastic little place, for breakfast. Lunch or a cuppa. We were overwhelmed with the wonderful welcome from the amazing,friendly staff team. The cafe has a small inside area with more seats and a covered area outside. We had our 2 dogs with us and were asked if they would like a treat. Of course we said and a little cup and saucer arrived loaded with dog treats. What a awesome place we will definitely be back.

Love this place, great coffee and food and very friendly, helpful staff. Lush has a great vibe, super funny host Ross and the place is very popular with the locals. We highly recommend Lush Coffee, my partner's favourite menu choice is the breakfast sandwich which is massive and I just love the Lush sausage and egg muffins. That was the best full English breakfast and the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had in my 60 years. Cooked to perfection, and every request was met by polite, friendly and accommodating staff. Top marks Lush. 2nd visit the standards were still high.

Exactly what it says on the tin, the coffee is Lush!!! Probably my favourite coffee in Whitby. The breakfast butties are very good as well. Always enjoy our visits here, lovely welcoming owners too! 👌♥️

Well worth all the excellent reviews which led us here. Good honest fare, well-cooked and served by a most congenial host. Don't expect frills, but you'll get good value for money and leave well-satisfied. Thanks for all the advice re house purchase, Ross. We will return!

Lush Coffee must be the friendliest, best value, cafe we have ever been to. A real hidden gem. Full English (huge) breakfast was fabulous. Ross and his neighbours kept us entertained, it’s a real local cafe…. We have been a few times when we’ve visited Whitby and look forward to our big brekkie…. Thanks Ross for great quality food…. If you want a place to eat which is chilled and friendly then this is the place to go. We only stumbled upon it as we were going for a walk, bit of a hidden gem. Word of warning though, go very hungry. Myself and my husband were defeated! The owner said, if this defeats you ill give you more next time! 😂

Still my favourite hidden gem in Whitby. Whether you go for breakfast or lunch, you won't be disappointed. The cafe is dog friendly and they are assured of a warm welcome and a treat too. Ross, the owner, is a lovely, friendly guy you instantly warm too. The cafe is a hit with the locals and you can't get a better recommendation than that! The food is freshly cooked, so if you are in a hurry this isn't the place for you. However, good food is always worth waiting for. Visit, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Came here due to friends recommendation, lovely warm welcome and amazing service with friendly greeting and chat. After reading the good reviews we called in for breakfast. It was cooked to order and there was plenty of it. We visited with our border terrier and he was given some doggy biscuits and some crispy bacon. The coffee was delicious too. We will definitely be back in a few months.

Well worth straying slightly off the main road to this lovely spot. A warm welcome from the owner on a cold day for all 3 of us. The food was good standard and plentiful. Value for money was spot on.
