Nice scenic place to have a stretch of the legs. Disappointed with the garden centre as there were hardly any plants but the café did save the day - nice cuppa and lovely homemade cakes - very friendly staff.

In the 1990's my family enjoyed visiting this lovely cafe & always enjoyed the excellent home made fare & the homely ,relaxed service . Recently on route to the M6 in early afternoon I noticed it was open & decided to call . Happily it had not changed & still offered a varied &sensible menu especially for the young & the elderly - all at very reasonable prices . The service was attentive & courteous , such a contrast to that you often experience at motorway services ( Tebsy being the exception ) ;.will certainly rreturn when next in the area with the family.. They also stock quality provisions & an excellent range of educational books to keep youngsters entertained during car journeys - All at attractive prices . Highly recommended. Gordon H

We called in for afternoon tea on the off-chance, as we were out for a walk and the weather had turned bad. We had a nice afternoon tea and the girl who served us was very friendly. So nice we went back the next day for lunch too.

Me and my family went in for the carvery and at first the meat looked pretty good under the light of the food warmer, but as soon as it went on our plates it looked absolutely disgusting, the beef was blood red, the pork was 90% fat 10% meat, the gravy was like bog water and the roasties were raw. my daughter did not want most of the trimmings due to her being very particular with her food and the chef kept mocking her for not wanting any yorkshire puddings, roasties or stuffing balls which really upset her. Out of 8 of us, 2 of us enjoyed the meal and it was the only 2 people that did not have a carvery. Also the mashed potatoes had a strong taste and smell of cheese when we asked for a completely plain portion. But atleast our waitress was lovely, can’t say the same about the food or the chefs

Came for lunch after a freezing rainy windy section of the C2C and the staff could not have been more lovely, they lit us a fire to dry our things and fed us very well- cannot thank them enough! Would highly recommend the food too!
