My family of four turned up for dinner. And having very fussy and indecisive children. The staff were amazing and very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was top notch too. The kind young lady that greeted us was amazing! Would recommend.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID This has to be one of the worst places I have ever eaten in Ordered fish and chips and was shocked at what I was served Chips are just frozen, like what you would get from Iceland or any other cheap frozen brand . Fish was plain and small portion Small bottle of beer £5 ! Overall shocking experience

Food was awful, soggy tuna panini costing £6.50, ordered cheesy chips which were £5 which came in a tiny cereal bowl which wasn't even full. Fish and chips were awful, hardly any fish, batter was nasty. If I weren't fuming enough then a member of staff drops a knife on my three-year-old, whilst clearing our table! So angry.

I don't know where some of the diners below went, but I had a qualitative experience at Cafe Luigi. Staff were courteous and attentive, the fish and chips were freshly cooked and delicious, tea was piping hot and tasted like a real cuppa should, and the soft drinks were cold. For dessert, we had pancake, syrup and ice cream, and cherry pie - both delectable. Everything was served with care and a smile, and in addition, we could freshen up before leaving, as the premises has a clean on-site toilet for patrons. I would definitely recommend Cafe Luigi - it's on our Southend list.

My walking past the member of staff practically grabbed us and dragged us to the table which should’ve been a sign of things to come. We ordered our meals and they arrived within 10 minutes The food was a real letdown, for a seaside cafe the chips tasted like cardboard This is a real shame as for a family run business I would’ve thought much more care would’ve gone into providing a great service One member of staff particularly stood out from the rest and this was the young chap in England T-shirt, he was polite easy-going and done everything you could to help Whilst I won’t go back, I hope improves in the future and I wish them all well I think they just need to focus a bit more on the food and to stop dragging people in from the street, the food should entice customers and the word of mouth goes along way.

Awful worst breakfast I’ve eaten . Pay £10 for one sausage , one slice of bread 2 hardly cooked bits of bacon some beans a few mushrooms and a over cooked hash brown

It was freezing, and the service was slow. The food didn’t even taste good, it tasted like cooked frozen food and not fresh at all. I definitely do not recommend.

Poor food quality and not very warm. Ordered sandwiches and chips, hot filling not hot enough to melt the cheap margarine and the accompanying chips ranged from piping hot to cold all on the same plate. With all that’s to offer around the pier you should avoid

Absolutely shocking service,, table of 11. Received 4 meals another 30 mins later got another 5 meals and took another 30 mins to get the last ti. Disgraceful place. Do not recommend to anyone, what a dump….,

Staff really pleasant, from the waiter when we walked in and who served us though to the maitre de ( lady in charge). Food was good quality with lovely bacon, sit up yolks on the eggs and no problem adding items to the meal ordered. Clean and simple design made easy access for a baby buggy and a child seat was quickly offered. When the maitre de became aware that it was my granddaughter’s 4 birthday she gave her a small gift. A little kindness that we valued a great deal.

Don’t go there it’s truly awful Food is terrible Portions differences from large fish and to medium fish and chips. Not even the waitress knew which one was which. Bald tasteless batter undercooked chips, the gravy clearly bisto with lumps and freshly microwaved. Childrens meal of pasta bolognaise was so bad too Overcooked pasta with some basic mince and tasteless tomato sauce. The only plus was that the drink were cold

Went here with my family and the food was disgusting and overpriced. AVOID this place! The chips were frozen and not cooked properly and the sausages were off and probably out of date. The children's food was inedible and the chicken nuggets were anything but chicken! Try somewhere else!!!!! I complained but was ignored

Don’t go there! We will never go back! The waitress was rude and socially awkward. It was our first time here in Southend Leigh On Sea, so we didn’t know any restaurant in particular. The restaurant was empty, we went in, we waited for more friends to come, as soon they arrived, the lady at the cafe ask us where they were from in such an inquisitive way, she didn’t stop asking until she got an answer! She asked everyone around the table where we were from and not because we were inviting her to have a conversation with us. She took the wrong order and they didn’t apologise. While taking the order, she kept on saying that English food wasn’t good and food from where she was from (Montenegro) was much nicer and much less expensive! That didn’t definitely encourage us to eat their fish and chips! When they brought the drinks, they served cans and plastic water bottles without a glass and the wine hadn’t been in the fridge. The transparent plastic panels covering the plastic tablecloth were dirty, the while place was messy and grubby, especially the part close to the toilets. On person of our group, which doesn’t speak much English, while going out for a cigarette, he made an effort to ask in his best English for another drink, the bill and that he wanted to pick up the entire bill for everyone. As soon he was out, the door smoking she didn’t tell him she didn’t understand what he had said, but came to us with such an attitude and said: “I didn’t understand anything “that one” said, and asked us what he wanted. She asked directly to one of us and called him by first name despite they don’t even know each other. He wanted to pay without us knowing, so that was spoilt! He came back, went to pay at their cash till, he offered his bank card, she left him there and came to *us* at the table saying that they don’t take cards! Seeing what she was doing, he came and offered her cash. Then she didn’t want to accept his cash as he was paying with paper £20 notes and not with plastic new notes, she annoyingly again came back to us and said she didn’t accept “old notes”, we explained that the banks accept them until March, but she didn’t want to accept them. It got so embarrassing! So then he gave her other notes. *Then* not only she didn’t take cards, not only she was acting awkwardly with him and us and she didn’t want to accept the paper notes, *then* she didn’t have change to give back to him(only £4.50)! So we had to check throughout our group of friends for 50p! Which she could easily taken off the bill. While we were putting our jackets on to leave, she then started asking to my children where they were born! Because their English was good, so they couldn’t have been born abroad! Then added: “ah ok, you are only English then!!” What’s the matter with that woman! They felt uncomfortable with her questioning Very very awkward experience and we will never go back! Don’t spend your money there. The service was horrible!

We had a superb fish and chips and great cups of tea here today . The staff were great , friendly and kind . It is going to be our go to place in Southend now for a meal .

My wife and I have just had lunch here, and we're so glad that we chose this cafe for our meal. The wife had a Spanish omelette and I had a steak. Both meals were brought to the table soon after ordering, and both were hot, perfectly cooked and tasty. The waitress was pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Prices were also reasonable, so just really good value for money. The only one negative point, for which I've taken off one point from the overall score, was that the condiments we're sticky and really need to be wiped off after each customer. Apart from that, we had an enjoyable meal in a good people watching location.

There is a choice of small eateries in this parade of shops opposite Adventure Land amusement park..but we chose the absolute worst It was 5.00pm on a Saturday, so wasn't very busy..service was slow and poor..Ordered SKATE @£12.00 an a large HADDOCK @10.00 RATHER EXORBITANT PRICE BUT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME AT ALL VENUES. Was told the skate would take 25 mins to cook, funny as my local fish shop does it in about 7/10mins When it did arrive after only 10 mins it was so small and thin, looked as though it had been through a bacon slicer!, with no taste, and had obviously had come from the freezer as had the inedible chips which were cold and hard and the Haddock was also very small, having ordered a large, so they must do one size only anyway..When it came to paying the bill I asked if it was all frozen and after being ignored twice I asked again and told ..It's all fresh!! A bill of £24 for this rubbish is unacceptable and this establishment should be reported to the local trading standards

Just visiting the seafront for some fish and chips on a Friday. First, the two ladies working were gossiping outside. "Just sit anywhere" one of them said, with most of the outside tables covered in bird poo. So we sat inside. Ordered a few drinks and only then did the (rather rude) waitress tell us that their card machine wasn't working. We didn't have cash; who carries cash nowadays? She pointed me to an ATM down the road. Out of order. Walked up the high street. More out of service ATMs. Ended up walking up to M&S and back, by which time the food had arrived at the table. The food was just fine, but overpriced. FYI "Salad garnish" = a slice of tomato and a lettuce leaf. But we couldn't enjoy the meal because the waitress insisted we pay halfway through because she had a "taxi waiting", "I need to buy food". She then proceeded to serve two further tables before actually leaving. Oh and they also slightly overcharged us. Do not recommend.

For starters the waitress was lovely, very polite and professional. The fish on the other hand was dreadful! The Large Haddock was definitely not large and the two cods were FULL of bones! Although only ordering a savaloy and chips that took 10 minutes longer than the fish to cook... strange! Also what topped it off was the delightful stench of sewerage!

While the food was adequate , the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was spoiled by the high handed attitude of a waitressA grandmother was treating her grandchildren to a day out .They sat at a larger table as a smaller one had not been cleared of dirty crocks et There were no customers waiting for tables. However the waitress publicly demanded they move to the uncleared table .Unsurprisingly the grandmother left. Complete lack of customer service and politeness

The venue says they serve fish and chips, and it’s directly opposite the adventure park, so we went in, sat down and was then presented a menu, £9.50 for a medium cod and chips, standard for a seaside visitHowever when the food came it was clear it was not your stars fish and chips and was a product sourced from the Iceland freezers as well as the chips, and had the cheek to charge us the premium for that privilege!Please avoid there are proper chippies around the area!Also the front of house lady, I’m assuming she’s Italian is very rude

Should have read the reviews... Despite being about 100m from the sea and touting themselves as a traditional fish and chip shop, this cafe (I imagine the rest down the strip are the same) unfortunately sells poor quality frozen fish and processed chips. Nine quid for a miserable sized portion, without any peas/bread/salad or even lemon. I felt lucky when I was offered tartar sauce. I have had better British style fish and chips in central Africa and central Australia, hundreds of miles from the sea! I appreciate times are tough, but there is no excuse for not making your own chips etc. Also, cash only which is a bit of a pain.

Overpriced with small portions, main middle aged front of house lady has zero customer service skills and the menus and place are dirty. Wouldn't return!

On Saturday My friends and I had fish and chips, one friend had ham,egg and chips(doesn't like fish) excellent service and meal.Will go back again,highly recommended.

Luigis was fantastic. My friend and I went with our 2 children with special needs (Downs Syndrome). We really fancied fish and chips but neither of the children like them. Luigis was the solution. The waitress was charming and took the children's complicated orders with a smile and no problem. We were pleasantly surprised that the food came exactly as ordered in separate serving dishes and all correct.The food did not disappoint. The fish was delicious and fresh and the children were really happy.Would recommend to any one. Charming efficient and accurate service. Good old fashioned customer service with a genuine smile.

Kitchen filled with microwaves instead of chefs.The food was all very clearly bought frozen from Iceland, yet they still have the balls to charge you £9.50 for a frozen fish and frozen chips. Absolutely bland and tasteless. Do not go here at all. Terrible food. 0/5

Great location, opposite the pier entrance. Lovely food with generous portions. Lovely staff too, not sure what else I could ask for!

Came across this place after spending an hour looking for somewhere to eat in a packed, cold November evening before watching the fireworks, inside was full so sat outside, which was perfectly ok, added to the feeling of the night. Cod and chips all excellent, burger ok and kids meals wolfed down. Great value and well done for coping with such a small kitchen! Will recommend and be back.

If you want a good fish and chips don’t go here. The chips and the burger was half done the fish was ok(ish). The waitress was a bit slow.

This café is light, airy, very clean and the food is tasty too. We had cod and chips and the fish was especially delicious, very fresh with a lovely light batter. It is in a convenient location opposite the pier and the prices are very reasonable too.

Really nice place with friendly staff who have a laugh with you. Four of us had the cod and chips which was lovely.

Food was alright, nothing special but ok. The main issue was the lady who was front of house was so rude. Without asking or explaining she moved the tables, expecting us to rearrange the chairs. I explained that we were now blocking off the ice cream counter - she ignored this - yet when anybody came to buy ice cream we were expected to get up and move our chairs, stay standing whilst ice cream purchased, then sit down to continue eating until next customer came along. Not my idea of family seaside lunch. Basically in busy summer season she didn’t care as long as the ££ were coming in. Another member of the team did apologise and said he would sort - nothing happened - unless you count a lolly from a massive cash and carry container as fair recompense There are plenty of other places to choose, avoid this one.

Lovely little cafe . Omelette was well vmcokked and salmon very large portion. Excellent service from the young man who was very attentive and efficient.

Visited this place after walking past and noticing the nice looking food being eaten outside, Ordered medium cod and chips twice and four kids meals with soft drinks....the tiny meals that arrived consisting of about 20 chips and a small cod for the adults and the 9 chips and thin tesco value looking fish fingers for the children was totally unjustified of the cost of £37.40..... Never to return.... That said it could be so much better if the portions were a lot bigger... food was actually good but the size was dismal

Came here for a lunch stop off as it’s been a nice sunny day and was greeted by a very blunt/unfriendly/disinterested woman, middle aged who I can only assume was some sort of supervisor or manager who just said “what do you want from the menu?” Barely looked at us while ordering then just walked off. I Took this on the chin despite it being poor customer service only to watch her, after taking our order, send 3 young members of her wait staff (all who looked like young teenagers in a summer job) marching outside to clean tables up practically barking at them saying “ahh what’s this then.. you clean tables” wagging her finger, shooing them over as if they were beneath her. These kids politely just did as they were told saying nothing and trying to get on with it. A very kind and polite young girl gave us our food which was absolutely fine and no issues with the meal or service from her. Only to finish my food and as I sat, I observed one of the young members of wait staff standing by our table offering passers by to look at their menu and smiling (clearly doing her job) for the same woman to come back out, march right up to her in front of customers in hearing distance “wake up will you.. you sort this out look..” in a very blunt/bullyish tone, this young girl just nodded and stood doing her job still!! I think this is absolutely DISGUSTING behaviour from a grown adult. Abusing their power over young people who are simply learning their way in life and being responsible and getting themselves a little job. I will not come here ever again purely for the reason that I don’t want to fund a woman’s pocket who thinks she can treat young people like that! My heart broke for these young people, embarrassing them and slashing their confidence like that. If I could file a formal complaint I would! Good luck to any staff there under a micro manager like that!! Awful!!

We visited here for my nans 88th birthday, the fish was lovely and very generous portions! The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Ordered a medium and a large fish and chips. There was no difference in size so not sure why the difference in price. Fish must have been frozen as it was completely tasteless. Very disappointed and wouldn’t return.

Visited once before had a full English breakfast which was lovely.

Family of 4 visited for a lunch time meal. Frozen chips and frozen Iceland style sausage in batter. Rubbish food, don’t be fooled by the appearance from the outside, better off at a real chippy. Clean and tidy and nice cup of tea but that’s all.

I visited the cafe with my partner and friends. The staff were reasonable. My coffee was nice and my friend's pancakes looked absolutely delicious

Stopped by for a traditional sea side fish and chips. Went for the medium. Fish was obviously frozen, not what you would expect. Tasted like a box fish and chips you would get from the supermarket. Friendly and efficient staff.

We visited here with a large group ( 13 people ),this group consisted of able - bodied and disabled.Some of our group had wheelchairs and other mobility aids. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating .We wanted to order separately and this was no problem,the...

We were here on our last visit, and we found the restaurant was still here the and the quality of food and service was still as good as we remembered. It was clean friendly service good prices too.

Nos gustaría un salto a Southend durante el día con los niños y perros. Nos apetecía un helado y encontramos Café Luigi con espacio suficiente al frente para nosotros 7 y 2 perros. Compramos una ronda de helados para los adultos y niños más antiguos y una de las camareras jóvenes ofrecieron agua para los perros. Muy raro que ocurre normalmente tienes que pedir. Sin embargo, me ping para dar a mi hijo pequeño un pequeño pedazo de mi cono de helado con helado. El hombre que me atendió, que creo que es el propietario, llegar al mostrador y me ofrecieron un cono pequeño de transferir algunos de mis propios helados para mi hijo. Unos 10 minutos más tarde volvió a inclinabas con otro cono pequeño pero esta vez una pequeña bola de helado. No puedo elogiar su amabilidad lo suficiente. Él ama a su negocio y claramente lo que hace! Si buscas un bocado agradable para comer o helado, vaya aquí!

Visitamos como Cafe Luigi parece limpio y bien dirigido. Pero mientras mi pescado maltratado fue excelente mi guisantes blandos eran un poco seca, y las patatas fritas estaban por debajo de la media. Pollo de mi pareja también era bastante normal!

Tan servicial con una silla de ruedas, todo el mundo fue muy amable y servicial, tanto en nuestra manera de entrar y salir. La comida era pedir y sirve eficientemente y satisfizo nuestras necesidades y estándares.

Fuimos a southend en el fin de semana y vi este lugar frente a la Isla de la aventura, así que pensamos que sería bueno tratar de comer allí. Se las arreglaron para nosotros asiento todos juntos. El personal era encantador. No todas nuestras cenas salieron juntos y algunos se habían terminado antes de todo el mundo recibimos sus cenas. Pero como había 14 de nosotros esperábamos eso. El pescado y las patatas fritas eran bonitas y los guisantes eran una gran porción blanda. El único inconveniente era que no aceptan tarjetas de débito. Había un cartel en la ventana indicando sólo en efectivo, pero ninguno de nosotros cuenta. Afortunadamente entre nosotros teníamos dinero suficiente. El gerente no decirnos dónde la estación cajeros automáticos eran.

Nos quedamos muy decepcionados cuando nos dieron la comida. Lo único positivo es el extremadamente amables disculpas señoritas que nos sirvió. Por desgracia nos equivocamos cuando comimos aquí como más adelante a lo largo del paseo marítimo hay un "correcto " fish and chips que venden patatas fritas frescas también conocido como patatas fritas! Quién sabía? Me entristece ver el horrorizado y patatas fritas congeladas y un mal cruda cod llega antes de mí y mi pareja. Así que supongo que recibes lo que pagas... Pero en esta ocasión anuncian 500 ml de fomenta o Carlsberg por 3.50 libras. Cuando mi botella de 275 ml de Carlsberg llegamos, rápidamente con el menú cuestionó la señorita que se disculpó y me explicó que era un error de impresión en todos los menús y el precio siguió siendo 3.50 libras por 275 ml... Así que no no siempre obtienes lo que pagas, y 8.50 libras para una porción de pobres y patatas fritas congeladas cod cruda, ojalá mi madre había ido a islandesa, como he tenido mejores resultados!! De todos modos estoy seguro de que el resto del menú está bien, evite el pescado y patatas fritas y dirigirse a los profesionales. Cuando me preguntaron cómo me explicó la comida era lo que nos defraudó y una respuesta un poco ensayado de disculpa con las palabras siento todos hacemos patatas fritas congeladas a lo largo de este desfile poco, como si justificar el hecho. Mi familia y yo fuimos a Southend para el día, vamos allí bastante temprano, así que el parque estaba cerrado, decidimos desayunar. Nos encontramos con Luigi, la primera cosa que notamos es lo limpio que estaba y había inodoros, muy limpio. El personal era muy amable y el desayuno era delicioso. Ofrecen una variedad de desayuno, almuerzo y cena. El servicio es rápido y la comida está caliente. Tuve la mejor taza de té, hecho a la perfección y un sandwich de salchicha para morirse. El precio es muy razonable. Lo disfrutamos mucho, hemos decidido volver allí para el almuerzo. Hay una variedad de comida, hay un montón de opciones. Sin duda volveré allí cuando vuelva a Southend. Altamente recomendado.

Visiting here with my family for quick bite to eat, my husband ordered a water which tasted off and smelt of eggs the waitress didn't seem to acknowledge a problem and seemed reluctant to change it. Then came the food, my husband ordered a cheese burger when it came he waited to ask for mustard after a few minutes got up to look for her and reminded them I was still waiting for my food to arrive which they then noticed hadn't been cooked (so I ended up eating when everyone else had finished) my husband put mustard on his burger to notice that it was a funny colour and was actually out of date, when we paid he charged us for someone else's bill. Won't be returning and was dissapointed with the service..

Right near all the rides just across the road to them. Nice and clean didn't wait long for food. Fish was nice so was the burger. Sausage in batter was not nice though! Clean toilets reasonable prices. Would visit again.

A little tatty on the outside: Step inside and this cafe is immaculate. Great value food freshly cooked to order. Super fish and chips, delicious omelette with a fresh and generous salad to accompany it. The service is delightful. A hidden gem!

Arrived there footsore and weary with a sleeping 4YO son. Attended to straight away and chose from an excellent list of ice cream which was heavenly. Great taste and great prices - I would recommend you drop by for a taste.
