Ludlow Kitchen in Shropshire

Wir hatten noch nie ein derartig schlechtes Frühstück in Großbritannien. Lieblos hingeworfener fader Toast neben 2 poached Eggs, die hart gegart waren. Nahezu geschmackloser Tee, am nächsten Tag Rüherei mit ebensolchen Toast wie am ersten Tag. All das wirklich teuer, obwohl man an einem Punkt ordern muss, wo man oft Schlange steht. Das wirkt unpersönlich. Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich, aber das wertet das Frühstück nicht auf. Nie wieder.

We were looking forward to lunch as we'd heard good things. 2 of us ordered flatbreads, very disappointed. The bread was chilled making it heavy to eat, we had expected it to be warm or toasted. We both left half of it. 1 ordered a baguette, again heavy going. The jacket potato was OK but all in all very expensive for what was served. Such a shame and we won't return.

The coffee is great, croissants fresh and delicious, but the best thing about this place is the staff. We always feel welcome, and even when it’s very busy, and they are under pressure, they are always friendly, helpful and cheerful. We have seen this place evolve over the years, and it only gets better. The system of ordering is very efficient, and we never have to wait long for our food and drink. But most of all we enjoy the atmosphere, and the feeling that we are among friends!!!

12 of us turned up for breakfast, as always the staff were great , the food excellent, the place is one of our favourite. I run motorcycles tours so I got to a lot of eating places and this is one of the best Thanks again

It was busy, but that doesn’t excuse the delay. Even that would be forgiven if the quality was there. It wasn’t. Sandwich was seemingly unseasoned egg mayonnaise served with a very oily coleslaw and a basic green salad. The short rib, not plural as on the menu, was nice beef but too tough. Chips ok and oily coleslaw. Not what we hoped.

I ordered short rib (undercooked, so the meat was stringy and the fat of the rib was just one huge waxy lump), and my husband ordered a baked potato with beef chilli (mincemeat with barely any flavour added). No one asked us how our food was, or came to clear plates. So, having paid in advance (wonder why), we just left, vowing never to return.

The all too familiar experience of asking if a dish is gluten free, being told it is and then being brought something with most of the ingredients missing! No substitutions and price the same! Apparently the kitchen didn't have any gluten free dressings - even though the shop sells several. The server did offer to bring me something else - so had a rather odd "pulled chicken" topped jacket potato - I was expecting flaked chicken and a rich pesto dressing - got chicken chopped into small pieces and a dressing with a faint taste of pesto. Jacket potato was generous and beautifully cooked but no butter! And the pesto chicken was too dry as an accompaniment. Lettuce leaves with no dressing didn't help. If a manager is reading this - please train your staff to make clear if ingredients are missing from GF versions of dishes and ideally substitute them with something else. And given the shop sells GF dressing surely you can serve one of these?! Wheelchair accessible with accessible loo. Accessible parking outside the cafe but have never managed to park in one of these as they are always occupied. There's a new ordering system - no longer table service, queuing at a till instead or an app. We had to queue at the till because of gluten free requirements. Thankfully there was no queue as I'm disabled and standing for even a few minutes is very tiring. But about 5 minutes after I sat down a long queue was snaking through the cafe. So you might not wait for ages for a table but you will wait ages to order!

Great breakfast - we had a full English each. The mainly locally-sourced food was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. Would definitely recommend!

Me and my Girlfriend stopped off for breakfast whilst out on a walk, we was greeted at the entrance by Kelly who was very friendly whilst sitting us down at our table and serving us after we ordered. I went for the Eggs Benedict and my girlfriend went for the full English, both were amazing! Freshly cooked and top quality we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning, food was amazing and the service was even better!

Previous visits have been lovely but sadly the whole experience and the food was below their usual standards. Extremely disappointing.. will not be returning..

The new system is absolutely shocking as many others have said previously. You feel rushed as there is a queue forming behind you, don’t feel you can ask about allergens again as there is a massive queue behind you. Reminds me of being at the school canteen many years ago. They even hand you your cutlery at the order station. The drinks took ages to come and the food came out before them. I was hoping the food would be good but this has also gone massively down hill, the chilli on the baked potato was tasteless and just full of oil, I left half of it. No body comes to check on your meals anymore i assume this is because you have already paid when ordering it doesn’t really matter anymore. If you want another drink half way through your meal you have to go and queue again so I left without having another drink. Travel a bit father to either the discovery centre in craven arms or one of the many eateries in ludlow, Aragons is especially good.

On route to our hoilday in Shropshire we stopped off here for some lunch, was very busy but they soon got us a table. Menu choices for a cafe amazing selection. Fish and chips beautiful staff very friendly even though they were busy. I would recommend highly going for some lunch here. Good parking also went into the food centre great selection of foods.

New system is a shambles !! Having to queue up to order or use the app, this was such a niceplace to visit, but no longer more like calling at a motorway services , would have loved a second cup of coffee but could not be bothered to queue up a second time Look at your customers most are of the age that do not want to use the app or don’t even know what a bloody app is Won’t be bothered to call again or recommend it to anyone

Not as enjoyable since the new format has been implemented. Queuing at the till to place an order feels like a cheap cafe. No interaction with the staff was always lovely to have a chat is now a far less personal experience. As a frequent visitor we're really disappointed

Very sad the changes that have been made to what was once a unique experience with lovely food. That is no longer the case; the food is cold and tasteless. The new booking system is a disaster. Was so looking forward to seeing my friend but spent the first 10 mins trying to work the technology, only to find that my order hadn't gone through! Really sad to be fiddling with our phones during precious time out and interacting with the lovely staff used to be part of the experience.

Unbelievably unaccommodating! 6 cyclists arrived for tea and cake were told could only have takeaway coffee outside (no cake) or inside where they couldn't possibly move tables together. So completely rude and unwelcoming. We went to Ludlow Golf club who were brilliant!

Terrible service and stale cold food. Really looking forward to our visit, we are moving to the area and had heard good things…… what a let down. Drinks arrived very promptly but the food followed over 1/2 an hour later. It was just a bacon roll and a fish finger sandwich. My husband had spotted a sandwich lingering on the pass for 20 mins before it was delivered to our table. Sadly the top layer of bread had been completely dried out and the fish inside was cold. We told the waitress who was just rude to us, she said it had not been sitting on the pass for that long and virtually shouted that the pass was heat. I think she misunderstands the point of the pass. I fully understand it is heated from above but is clearly not designed to keep my sandwich warm, it just made the top stale and hard. It did nothing to warm the fish. Terrible rude attitude, especially as we watched couples come and go and still we sat there waiting.

This has not been thought through ! I regularly visit the conservatory each Sunday with my 4 legged friend.The “new changes” will not be conjusive to some customers.I don’t think it’s a pleasant experience to have to order via phone or tie my dog up and walk through to other area to order and pay in advance !my dog would not be happy and what happens if there is more than one solo customer who does not use phone to order .Prior to this last visit the 2 previous weeks my food had to be returned Hair in food and cold hollandaise sauce with undercooked egg .Had this been this this last week it would have been an issue trying to tie my dog to wherever and go through to complain .Paying in advance ? Sadly I will no longer visit the kitchen which is rather sad as I have used Ludlow foods from day 1 of its opening.I spoke with customers on a table close by and we were all in agreement,not for us anymore.This might improve your staff experience it does not enhance a customers experience.

Called in to the Ludlow Kitchen for a light lunch with my wife and mum whilst travelling to Ludlow for a long weekend break. We were shown to a table with no need to wait. We ordered two portions of tomato and roasted garlic soup with rustic roll together with a glazed ham sandwich. The food was all very tasty (as usual). We then strolled across to The Ludlow Farm Shop to buy some weekend supplies.

Hugely disappointed with overpriced food. The soup was just about acceptable but the fish finger sandwich was tasteless and obviously cooked from frozen and the halloumi wrap was poor.

They have indeed changed the way you order here, but I used the QR code on the table. The page it opened was very easy to use, and I could place my order easily without leaving my seat. The food that came was delicious as usual, and the staff were all their happy friendly selves.

Have been going here since it opened years ago, no complaints in that time, pricey but has been worth it. BUT what on earth has gotten into the management???? The new waitress free system is hopeless. Queue against the tables of current diners and a long wait as only one person operating the system. THEN you have to pay before you have had your order!!. And if you want another coffee or drink go through it all again. Hmmm seems like Costa, or Starbucks system has moved in. NO will not be making a special journey in future, as long as that system is in place

What has happened to Ludlow kitchen? A delightful ambience with friendly helpful waitress service has morphed into a motorway service station, all impersonal queues. The food is still good but all the charm has been destroyed. Will I bother to continue regular visits when I can't even get a second cup of (excellent ) coffee without queuing again? I doubt it.

Changed the way they serve customers, found it to be very inefficient and ended up queuing for a significant amount of time.

I was very disappointed to visit the restaurant today to find that it is no longer the lovely ambience and pleasant experience. It is now a find your own table,then order at the till and pay beforehand. No different to Morrisons or Sainsbury's. The whole experience has been totally ruined by this new procedure. What a disappointment.

Oh dear, Ludlow Kitchen has changed it’s way of operating and it has lost its special atmosphere. There was a lot of confusion as there was no indication that things had changed apart from the fact that the welcome counter was no longer there, so customers were queuing as they entered the building, to wait for a table, but then had to join another queue at a new counter where 1 member of staff was taking orders together with payment. This took quite a bit of time for some people. All rather chaotic and a lot of disgruntled customers having to a lot of waiting before they finally sat down to wait for their food! Some new bar stool tables in the entrance lobby were subjected to being surrounded by the in coming milling and queueing and an oddly positioned tv screen directly overhead and the tables in the body of the restaurant nearest the windows were also surrounded by the other queue for ordering /paying. All a bit uncomfortable.

Both of us had a breakfast muffin, absolutely delicious, very pleased. Served quickly, drinks and food arrived quickly too. Staff very polite & friendly, will definitely return again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Called for lunch to break up a long journey but we were very disappointed with the food, which we had anticipated would be good because of its connection to the farm shop. I ordered a Welsh Rarebit and my wife ordered Steak and Ale Pie. We were sat opposite the kitchen and I was concerned when I saw one of the staff preparing someone else's Rarebit and she had difficulty scraping it off the baking tray. She had no such difficulty with mine, but perhaps it would have been better if she had left it on the tray. I am sure that it must have had some cheese but it was impossible to taste as it had been totally overpowered by the amount of mustard used. I actually like mustard but I have never overdosed on it before. My wife's Steak and Ale Pie was more.like Steak and Onion. When she complained to the waitress, the response was that "Its onion gravy" we were aware of the onion gravy, but had the menu described it correctly,it would not have been ordered. The level of noise made it sound like a school canteen, but grandchild dinners were better than this.

It’s amazing to have various vegan options but the muffin option was bland and dry! It feels like not much effort is put in to the vegan options. Even some garnish would have made it look more appetising?

The menu never changes. I ordered the bigger which was very dry and the chops were undercooked. After a couple of mouthfuls I couldn't eat anymore. Waitress seemed disinterested when I commented on why I couldn't eat it. Discount of 10% on the bill, but no apology or even a conversation. For what they charge they need to up their game.

Excellent, friendly and helpful service, particularly from Kelly who went out of her way to accommodate my sons request, food was spot on and brightened his day after a run of ill health.

Visited today with friends for lunch, ordered a cheese sandwich & a latte, Our lunch came out very quick but coffee's took about 10 minutes!! I've had many sandwiches here & have struggled to finish them because of the portion size, but today's was very disappointing. It looked chucked on the plate with a tiny pot of coleslaw. No garnish & certainly not worth £6.95, Won't be having food there again !!

At long last I can properly enjoy a gluten free breakfast in the café/restaurant! After many months of bringing my own gluten free granola to eat with the yogurt, fruit and honey, I discovered there’d been a policy change and found GF granola on the breakfast menu. So pleased - and waitress Jacqueline was particularly helpful, as is her colleague Jo. Let’s hope more GF options appear, particularly amongst the cakes. Chocolate brownies and flapjacks are fine, but a bit more variety would be welcomed by Coeliac visitors.

Just excellent all round. Staff were very friendly and quick, food was great. It was a busy bank holiday but service was on point all round. My other half was very impressed with her pie and my burger/chips were spot on - both meals were well put together. 10 out of 10

Went for breakfast this morning and the place was quite busy, staff were friendly and polite as per usual. We didn’t have to wait long for our food which was prepared to order. The food was great as usual. We have never been let down by this establishment.

Lovely cafe/restaurant within the site of the Food Centre.We went in for coffee and cakes before shopping.My wife has to have Gluten Free food as she suffers from Coeliac Disease so no wheat.There were items on the Specials Board for cakes and pastries and on the menu that stated they were Gluten free but none of them were available.Wife had GF toast instead.The service was a bit haphazard as the new staff had to confirm things with other staff before ordering or delivering.I am sure things will settle down and we will go again.

Had a very pleasant morning with grandchildren for breakfast at Ludlow kitchen, we were welcomed and taken to our seats very quickly, very pleasant waitress took our drinks and breakfast order, arrived very soon one full English and two pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, which was delicious and enjoyed by us all . Felt uncomfortable I phoned ahead to check I was bringing my dog .I arrived waited by internal door so staff knew I was present .Sat down a person came to get my order I asked for a menu was told she wasn’t aware I was in conservatory next time go to front and let staff know !
