Ludlow Fishbar And Restaurant in Shropshire

Very good fish and chips. Friendly, speedy service ( considering we had fresh cooked to order fish), and really gigantic portions pf both F & C. We really enjoyed our no nonsense supper - just what we needed after a day of travelling.

Chips not cooked through. Not impressed. The 3 of us could not eat them . Some raw lumpy chips. Will not return

We had a fish take away - just one large and one small battered cod. it was tasty, the batter was good. Would go again.

A decent fish and chips .It can be difficult to eat in Ludlow so this place is a must for the diary if all else is full. Open at 5pm when most are closed

It opens before many Ludlow restaurants and offers nice fish and chips when very little else is available or fully booked

We got fish and chips take away for four people, the chips were undercooked and had to be thrown away they were inedible. There was a queue so they were rushed no excuse for pale undercooked chips. My advice don’t go there!

Just the best fish and chip shop ever. The only 'chippy' that can rival the North and I've lived every where from Grimsby to the Isle of White. The chips are are not only special but plentiful, a large cod will sate the largest appetite, the kebabs are succulent and all the regular extras are here. My favourite are the scallops! But by far the most important of all is that the food is consistently good, they don't have bad days. And Sally's a sweetheart!

Excellent fish and chips - just how they used to be! The food is Freshly cooked, crispy batter and very tasty. The Staff are polite and friendly too!

I think this chip shop as gone down hill. The Curry Sause, was like water, obviously been watered down. Will avoid!

On a cold, dark and stormy (literally) night we walked down from our B&B. Restaurant was not seating people inside, but kind owner let us sit on his fire escape to enjoy their outstanding fish & chips. Crispy batter, juicy fish, very generous portions, crispy chips, good mushy peas; scampi also good. If we lived in Ludlow we'd be here every week.

We bought takeaway from here and to be honest it’s just your average fish and chip shop. Nothing special and nothing different from chip shops up and down the country. It sells all the normal variety of food you would expect.

Nice piece of fish tonight, I walked along to the castle gardens and sat and sat in the sun and enjoyed every crispy chip. Portion was large and compared with the south of England where I live very good value too.

i have eaten in this restaurant in the past. This time i took it back to my b and b.The quality of the fish and chips was very good.I asked for a small portion of chips but got enough for 3 people.

Ruined my day to say the least staff have the worst attitude in the world food for the price is an insult not good enough for the dogs bowl 35 quid for a couple kebabs avoid at all cost go to the cod father far better attitude and service

there are a few chippies in Ludlow but after trying them all Ludlow Fishbar beats all the others by a mile.Its a bit pricey though but worth paying extra for good food

We stay in Ludlow quite regularly but hadn't tried the Fishbar before, and I can only agree with other reviewers that the staff attitude leaves a lot to be desired. There was only one person in front of me, and the female member of staff was getting his order together. There was no 'hello' or 'I won't be a minute'. I waited several minutes for the other customer to be served, and the staff member then ignored me and went to the other end of the shop to sort something out, while her colleague worked at the fryer. I stood there for a while, ignored by both members of staff and then reluctantly walked out. Not a great experience.

When I first moved to Ludlow 4 years ago I met the Manager and congratulated him on his award of 3rd best chippie in Shropshire. He wasn't impressed as the year before he had been No1! And that is where they still sit in my opinion, the food is second to none. I've never had so much as an average bag of chips, they're always spot on. The fish is spectacular, their deep fried food never greasy and the southern fried chicken is as good as a chip shop can offer. The kebabs are just super packed with meat and the added bits fresh daily. And all this at a price that is no more than the competition, which it leaves far behind. The girlks behind the counter work really hard and while someone has complained about them - when I greet them with a smile and am polite, they are nothing but the icing on the cake at this fantastic Fishbar.

Absolutely brilliant! Lovely welcome by the smiley staff working on a extremely hot evening. Quick service, freshly cooked fish & chips. Piping hot too. And the best curry sauce I have tasted in a very long time.

We were tourists in Ludlow and I really fancied fish and chips. The seated area was strangely empty but we got very quick and pleasant service. Fish - hot and delicious. Chips a bit cooler. Soft drinks out of the can😀 Would definitely go back

Four of us arrived to eat in the restaurant at lunchtime, greeted by an extremely sullen girl who informed us there would be “no hot drinks”. We were left to find a table in the empty restaurant and soon realised why it was empty! We were handed a bunch of cutlery in silence to distribute ourselves and our order taken - still not the remotest sign of a smile, conversation or indeed personality of any description. She returned 2 minutes later with the detailed newsflash of “no haddock”, an alternative was selected (after a brief pause for the expected apology which was not forthcoming). Another 5 minutes and our engaging waitress returned to deliver further news “no Diet Coke”. My diabetic husband then enquires which diet drinks they had... only to be informed that they had none! Again no sign of a Sorry! Fish and chips arrived with awful soggy batter, luke warm chips (but hey they were roasting in comparison to the welcome)and still not a word of conversation. Final insult was the size of the fish, more of a battered fish finger or goujon. Our verdict...... don’t bother unless staff with attitude issues and faces like slapped backsides are your thing. Abysmal service/food! There must be better on offer in Ludlow.

My wife and I bought fish and chips from here en route to our weekend stay near Knighton. We were served quickly and the prices were reasonable. Portion sizes were good and the fish and chips were tasty. Would recommend.

Very limited fish options so we had to settle for cod all round...batter was soggy and chips pale and uninteresting. Not the best at all.

Average soggy chips! Ok food, service was ok, not too long to wait. Needed to go back in for more salt otherwise flavourless. Staff a little off but hey! Won't be going back anyway live too far away!

Food was lovely and tasted very freshly cooked. The member of staff who served me was quite moody and not friendly. They don’t accept card payments??? In this day and age you would expect them too as i would say they are the main chippy in town. Luckily had enough money after counting out my change.

If disinterested and down right rude service makes your day, then this is the place to go! Haven’t tried the food I’ve purchased yet. But will not be going back. Very upsetting.

Every time I visit Ludlow I make it a point to visit this f&c; place. Friendly service and good value. Their haddock, freshly battered, and chips are delicious.

The only thing I have problem with is it is closed on Sunday (everyone needs a day off) and I always land in the UK from Australia on a Sunday, and Ludlow Fishbar is always my first go to place for chips and there excellent curry sauce. And they never disappoint. When in Ludlow it is a most it’s not fine dining if you want that go somewhere else, but if you want a good traditional fish and chips and CURRY sauce or one of there many other choices that they have and friendly people behind the counter then this is the place.

Typical town chippy in a coveted terrace house. Clean and tidy and friendly staff. Chips were soggy and life less, fish had been around to long and batter hardened off. These places vary os to who in frying. Not one of their better evenings.

New to ludlow we just followed the smell and what a great choice.My husband and i had fish and chips.couldn't fault the meal at all .Good hot food and we didnt have to wait long as the staff are sper efficient.

Used the place a number of times and find it very friendly and of high quality. Nice fresh fish, traditional batter (personally we always wish it could be a bit more ‘tempura-ish’) ...lighter and crisper....but we know thats just not the UK style! Chips again are the big fat ones.

Easily the best fish and chips in Ludlow and always served with a bit of banter. Nice people and generally good quality grub. All you need from a chippy.

This shop is fitted out well with very expensive friers etc. whoever is cooking should hang up there apron, all our food was cold & soggy apart from the curry sauce.... Ludlow does have a number of chippys none of which are capable of producing great fish n chips.... The nearest good chippy is The Bridge in Bewdley, I certainly wont be returning to Ludlow fish bar

Not bad at all. Fish and chips were tasty and hot. If I had a complaint at all it would be that the portion sizes don't need to be so big and then the price could be cut back a little - i felt the price was a little higher than average but didn't need the extra food so not such good value for me really.

Sadly both the fish, chips and mushy peas ordered were very old and tired. My guess is that they had been sitting in the warming tray for quite some time. The chips lacked any crispness and tasted greasy. The fish (cod) within the batter was...

Great food. good prices. Friendly service and not short on portion sizes also has its own parking so you dont have to drive around to look for somewhere to park.

We have often had fish and chips from Ludlow fish bar and have been very pleased but not tonight. The chips were so disgusting we could not eat them, raw potato, really disappointed is not the word.

Popped into this Fish & Chip shop after work to get something for tea as I was on my own.I had Steak & Kidney Pie, chips & curry sauce, it was excellent, freshly cooked, hot, and I was served very quickly.Again a very enjoyable meal which was cheap and very tasty, served by a very efficient girl, highly recommended.

Love this Chippy: business takes me to Ludlow on Monday evenings and I get home too late to start cooking. Hence, Monday night has become our Fish 'n' Chips night. Always welcoming, always quick to serve and always well-cooked tasty fare. Keep it up guys :D

Called into this chippie after work as I couldn't be bothered to cook as my wife was away.I had traditional fish, chips and mushy peas, wow, it was brilliant, the chips were cooked to perfection, as was the fish with lovely crunchy batter, none of that soggy stuff.Service was extremely quick, I was in the shop for less than a couple of minutes, and it was very reasonably priced, plus the portion was huge.When I got home it was all piping hot and very enjoyable.

Well myself and my partner who is 37 weeks pregnant and our disabled friend and carer. And I'm sad to say we will never return, unless things change. The cost of the food is out right disgusting they charge £4.70 for fish and chips but what they don't say it they charge you £4.70 for the fish and they charge you £1.80 for chips and they charge yo £1.50 for a small bottle of Fanta but the bottle of Fanta was out of date and they moaned when I said could you replace it they also charge £1.20 for a small pot of curry sauce and £1.20 for a small pot of mushy peas but my god the peas was disgusting as you could taste and see how old they were. I am sorry to say you pay loads of money for the food but I am sorry to say it was the chips was rock hard and way to dry and the curry sauce was bitter And like I said the mushy peas was over cooked and old. Well that's it for the food but boy the young lady that works there is shocking and I mean her body language shouted I don't want to be there and when she came to the table to take the order she was like. What do u want, not how are u today and how may I help you. I told her that the food was horrible and all she could say I'm just paid to serve I even said so what are u able to do about the food and she said nothing and she just walked away so like I said I wouldn't go bk

This is an excellent fish and chip shop. The owner is always helpful and has a smile for everyone. The large fish is LARGE and chip portions massive. Take away or eat in this restaurant offers excellent value for money.

Whopping portion of well cooked chips, generous portions of haddock and cod. Mushy peas better than average. Very reasonably priced. Can't comment on restaurant as we had take away.

We saw the local residents buying their meals. It was very busy but you could see that it has a quick turnover of customers.

Have only had take away from here but the portion size is large. When having Fish and Chips the fish over-hangs the plate, the batter is lovely and crunchy. There is a really good large menu to choose from. Well worth a visit either to eat in or take out

Named best chip shop in Ludlow, but failed to pass muster, hot and smelly of fat inside, so could not face eating in sit down area, which was uninviting and basic.Chips were greasy, limp and inedible, but big portion, most ended in bin.

even though the queue lokked large when I got out of the car,i was served as soon as I walked through the door.the portions are huge,but not expensive,the fish was over a foot long.tasty food plenty of it.a very good traditional chip shop

We've tried takeout Fish & Chips from all of the Ludlow offerings and this is by far the best of the bunch.Freshly cooked food, served promptly with a smile and at reasonable prices. Quality and tasty ingredients used and cooked to near perfection.What more could you ask for when you crave that quick Fish & Chip takeaway? On our list of favourites!

Sat in for haddock and chips .Had to cook the haddock but not a long wait.Very nicely presented with a good sized fish and lots of lovely chips and all piping hot.Fish and chips both very tasty.

Hadn't had chips from here for a while so on Thursday thought would get some for tea. The chips were lovely and was served quickly which was good. The member of staff which served me was very good and friendly. The rest seem to stand around and look like they don't want to be there. You get a lot for your money only had a small portion which i couldn't eat it all. lovel

Lovely fish and chips last time u went they were greasy and horrible but they were much nicer this time friendly staff big portions and reasonably priced staff are friendly unlike previous times I've been.

There are several chippies in Ludlow but i think that this one is the best. Big portion sizes, very reasonable. Never had a bad meal and its always packed in there!

We visited Ludlow Fishbar for our tea and decided to eat in the fishbars Restaurant well more of a cafe really and to be honest not the cleanest place i have been in i was ready to leave when the waitress came to take our order she was very polite but her uniform was very grubby.But in defense of the fishbar the food was lovely the fish pure white and flakey the batter crisp and golden huge amount of chips a great mushy peas i have to say it was delicious and if the staff and restaurant could smarten up a bit it would be a brilliant place to eat.

bought some fish and chips from here last night and both my parents said how awful they were they were really greasy and the chips were like they were re cooked. Batter on the fish was over cooked and full of grease. I have previously had fish and chips from here and I must say they have been fab

very large portions always hot , very busy at all times so this speaks volumes about popularity. People don't mind queuing to wait for fish etc. to be cooked well worth the wait

The standard was very poor - the batter was not crisp and had the usual thick stodgy stuff underneath - that which you associate with being uncooked. Absolutely not acceptable.

Traditional fish and chip shop very large fish and plenty of chips cooked very well always very busy which is what you want as you then know its cooked fresh, we had a take away but there is a small seating area to eat in

We ordered haddock to take away expecting to get a nice firm textured fish, what we actually got was a mushy tasteless fish which I don't think was haddock. Avoid this place at all costs.

Would recommend this plaice ( lol ) to anyone and everyone .

I'm a Yorkshire chauvinist when it comes to fish n chips, I hate skin, bones and most fish except Haddock. But this fish bar is my favourite take-away in Ludlow. The batter is cooked to crisp perfection, none of that thick mushy undercooked mush you get on the bottom of your fish in some places. If you ask nicely they even cook it a bit longer to ensureitis crisp as you wiah. The 'large' fish, be it cod or haddock, is whale size, and even the small portion of chips is huge. The fish is also very fresh, thick and flaky. Also a cafe next to the shop for visitors who want to eat a bit more posh.

Huge portions, excellent quality and very cheap. This is the best place in Ludlow for take away food. It is very popular so the turnover is fast. Highly recommended.

Had a great lunchtime meal here with family, food excellent and staff were brilliant. We had a great laugh, great food and a great time.
