Great to see a local business doing really well in a small Northamptonshire town. I would encourage everyone to turn off the main road, drive past the Costa coffee and look for this gem on the High street. Friendly, fun service, great coffee and a menu that Lucy is constantly evolving and changing, especial the sandwiches. We need more places like this and less chains coming into smaller towns and villages.

We had the afternoon tea and the cheese afternoon tea. Both were generous and delicious. There was Stilton ,Brie ,hot Camembert, cheddar and cheese scones. Afternoon tea had one round of sandwiches with plenty of choices, scones with clotted cream and jam and 3 types of cakes with strawberries. Tea was refillable. The tea room was quirky and quaint. The service great. Would recommend

What a lovely new menu for breakfast. We had eggs benedict. Both were customised, one without breakfast and one toast, not muffins. The eggs were cooked to perfection and served beautifully. The coffee with our breakfast was of the usual high standard we expect at Lucy’s.

We only called in for coffee and cakes so cannot comment on the meals. Lovely selection of cakes, different each time we went. I am not sure if I like to odd plates and cups but the coffee was good. Two rooms each with different tables and chairs and lots of craft goodies to look at and buy. It is handy for the bus stops and library if at that end of town.

On our way through Desborough, quickly looked on Google Maps to find a coffee shop for lunch and came across this little gem. Lovely jolly lady behind the counter serving a great selection of homemade food and cakes means that we will certainly become regulars. Lovely little tearoom which serves an excellent Cheese Afternoon Tea. Went with friends who had booked for me as I'm such a cheese lover. The service was friendly and attentive. The selection and amount of cheese was great. Served with chutneys and my favourite cranberry sauce. The bread basket had delicious fresh breads one of which was an olive bread I don't usually eat but it was so tasty would definitely have again, also crackers and grapes. Tea or coffee accompanied (a glass of red would have been a bonus). Will be going again totally recommend to any cheese lover.

About 10 of us pre-booked Lucy's back room for a catch up on a Tuesday morning. The staff were very helpful, service with a smile! The room has a selection of soft chairs with low tables or traditional dining tables and chairs. My sister and the mum and friend had tea in real china cups and saucers and a china tea pot. The food was all home made, the ham was off the bone. And the cakes are also home made. We had a Victoria sponge which was divine and our friend had a treacle tart. But the shop also sells home made goods like knitted flowers and knitted animals and framed sayings. And corner tables. I Visited Lucy's tea room in a fluster with my friend . We had requested early check in at a hotel nearby as were attending a wedding and needed to get ourselves ready. When we got to the hotel the rude owner told us in no uncertain terms this would not be possible. We decided to get a coffee while we thought about what to do next and told the people at the tea rooms what had happened. Had a memorable lunch at Lucy's today. It was actually the excellent value festive tea deal (Groupon) but we ate it during the early afternoon in place of a lunch. The sandwiches came with a light, well-dressed side salad and a pot of assorted crisps. There were then 4 large scones with jam and cream. We couldn't manage the cakes that were also served but these were kindly boxed up for us to take home. All this with a really large pot of tea. The cafe is so interesting with its nooks and crannies and there is plenty to look at, - we particularly liked the jigsaw collages on the wall. Very child friendly too with games and toys in various corners. There are crafts and suchlike on display because it doubles as a shop. Really friendly staff and it is clear that many people come in regularly and receive a warm welcome. We will have to do a lot of walking now to burn off the calories but would certainly love to return. Lucy's is a real asset to Desborough.

Having been up since 0530hrs and not having had time for anything other than 'jobs' I had to do before my hospital appointment and nightshift...I was "starving!" I dropped mum off for her midday appointment and she suggested either the chippy or the 'very nice' tea room next to it while I waited for her. Well, I plumped for the tea room...and so glad I did! I was immediately welcomed as I stepped in....was given time to peruse the menu, after which I was greeted with smiles and a very warm manner. Having not had bread all week, I plumped for the Cranberry, brie and bacon Panini.......and to my delight, it was delicious and the best I'd ever tasted...not only was the filling VERY generous, it was accompanied with a delightful side salad and potato salad served in a cute tea cup...a lovely touch. Clearly, this food is served with care and love and a want to please the eater! I'm not big on coffee but decided on a latte and it also was lovely...again a generous mugful of flavour! I was genuinely chuffed for choosing this tea room and very satisfied in the stomach department! The vibe here is genuine and friendly and a great little find! The menu is varied and healthy with much of the bread being made by Lucy herself. My favourite is the granary bread. Lucy also makes all the cakes herself too with such obvious care and devotion. My favourite is the carrot cake but I have been known to indulge in the malteser cake too. The variety is exceptional. I have eaten there several times in the last four years and normally I trust no one outside my own kitchen to serve me my food. It is so good that I even had my 60th birthday party there last year. We had 20 people in attendance and the catering was superb. You can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones. You can buy a greetings card and you can browse the contributions from local crafters including lampshades, scarves and costume jewellery. There is even a play area for children. Last but by no means least is Lucy's lovely smile and genuinely polite service.

I was stunned when I read the 'disappointing review' as I was in Lucy's on that very day and Lucy was her own cheerful self. And to hear that the panini were 'meanly' filled is just not comprehensible - Lucy doesn't understand anything less than 'full'! As for a long wait, Lucy is very honest if she's busy and lets you know, so it all seems a bit 'off'.

Just popped into Lucy's Tea Room. It is the most beautiful, quant little place I've ever been to. There are endless crafts and gift ideas dotted around but then then I went to the counter. The cakes looked amazing and I was spoilt for choice, all home made, I was in heaven! Lucy and Mel who work there were really friendly and a right giggle. Can't wait till I'm passing again!

Me and two friends went for just some cake and coffee. I called up a day before to book a table on a Sunday and was told we didn’t need to book for just cakes. When we arrived we where told they only have people for roast dinner on Sundays and I explained about the phone call, so he sat us down about 20mins after we got our cake and coffee we where told we had to leave in 5 minutes as they had somebody coming in for the table we had to leave without finishing our drinks or cake and paid full price. This was absolutely disgusting behaviour and a waste of money

We took the time to pre-book a table, on arrival although the table had a reserve sign on it people were using it. We were offered alternative seating on bar seats! This was not an option for us and found our own table. Drink menu was nonexistent for ale or bitter drinkers. We ordered our food and drinks, after 10 mins some came to advise that one of our food options was not available so new meal ordered. Food came roast dinners were great, pizza was questionable and the boa buns were a let down. During our food a waitress came over to see how things were and decided to clean some glasses and plates as she did this she leant over my mother in law who was try to eat her meal! We ordered from the 3 puddings the restaurant offers and after a good 5 mins the waitress came to say one wasn't available. Surely with only 3 puddings on the menu they should know what wasn't available. 15 mins later we were informed that there would be a slightly longer wait to receive the other two ordered puds. At this point we gave up paid the bill and left. I can 100% say we will not return

Very nice cosy pub with friendly staff, just had drinks so can't comment on food. Had an open mic singing night while there and that was fun to listen to. Beer we had was tasty and well kept, will visit again.
