Lucy's Cafe in Cheltenham

One of the best independent cafes in Cheltenham and probably the best cakes in the town. Lovely atmosphere and staff. Despite getting there at busy lunchtime on Friday we had great service from Eli. Will definitely go back.

I went last Friday around 12 pm with my husband for brunch but it was way too much busy I thought I wouldn't be getting any good things but I was amazed the baristas were really nice in such a rush hour they were really delivering quality. I ordered a cappuccino and decaf oat mocha with honey plum jam cake and riciarelli. all of things were exceptionally delicious 😋 😋. The foam on cappuccino was very great. And my husband loved his decaf oat mocha we loved the cake and the environment we had a very great overall experience.Everything was nice and clean.I would totally recommend it. Especially the staff was very friendly very helpful.

Me and my wife popped in for breakfast on Monday around 11am. We just sat down and the table was dirty and we ordered tea,coffee and breakfast. Tea mug was very dirty tea spoon as well. I have marked on photos. Service wasn’t friendly… they just gave us a menu and that’s it. Breakfast was okay. I would not go back as i was very disappointed.

Consistency is key for this place. Brilliant Full English breakfasts and nice helpful staff. Highly recommend. Plenty of other options too and well presented as we also had an excellent Avocado, egg on sourdough bread. Very tasty.

Quiet Wednesday morning and a few people inside and more enjoying coffee outside. Quick and friendly service. Had a lovely cooked breakfast with a good selection of top quality.

Seafood salad! Calamari,prawn and octopus. On it like a car bonnet! Really good! If you are in the area-go there!

With this week's weather we took advantage of the alfresco seating whist enjoying our cake and coffee. But you can have a good "english" to start the day. A relatively small establishment about half way along the southern end of Bath Road. If you are quick an hours roadside parking may be enough. If you want longer there is a large carpark close by.

This is an excellent local cafe. It's busy at lunchtime. It is possible to reserve a table, thou. Great food and drinks.

I Loved it, Cannoli's are out of this world. We rocked up at 13:00 on a Saturday at the busiest time and they were so accommodating, although their was a cue the staff were very apologetic but worked promptly to take our order and deliver their wonderful food. Will go again.

Such a beautiful and cute cafe!!! Very quaint! Loved the decor and the food options. The chips?? OMG SOOO GOOD!! I don't know what seasonings they put on top but my goodness, so delicious 🤤 Lots of sweet treats and cakes to chose from.

We were fitted in at the last minute - 6 of us with the need for proper chairs and disabled access. Food was great, cakes delicious and service wonderful!

A nice place for breakfast. The staff are friendly. And the drinks were very nice.

We have only recently tried Lucy's café and loved it! The food is so tasty - I recommend the Bacon Brie and Chilli Jam panini or the Lucy's sandwich! The staff are really lovely and our dog was spoilt there too!

Great Bath road breakfast & brunch venue.

Incredible Black Forest gateau! Every bite of the moist sponge cake tantalises the senses, and the slightly sour cherry sauce balances the sweetness deliciously. Paired with a fresh coffee and you have the recipe for an amazing time. Great spot for a yummy treat.

I may have started one of the first Cafes in the Bath Road over 25 years ago but I have to say I love Lucy's. Such a great atmosphere and a wonderful place to met with friends for a cosy chat, coffee and cake! Thank you Lucy's, we will be back soon!

Best coffee and cakes in Cheltenham

I like poached eggs on toast for breakfast. Lucy's is by far the best version and I have tried many places including the big prestigious ones in the centre of town. One famous restaurant had their version sent back with yolks as solid as boiled eggs. Another when asked for eggs on buttered toast served dry toast with a foil packed butter pat. This is the place for the real thing!

Busy but friendly and efficient little cafe, obviously well-patronised. Hot, good Americanos and hot milk; tasty/crispy and hot bacon bap in a nice soft bap. Will visit again if around there for shopping etc. Found by accident as we discovered the very handy disabled parking space within a few yards, before we went across the road to the furniture store.

Coffee and cake was good but I thought it was expensive for what you got. The slice of cake was really thin.

Nice lunch. Always a fabulous selection of home cooked cakes, pastries and biscuits. A real quality asset for Bath Road.

I wanted to order a birthday cake for my fiancée who just gave birth to our first child, and Lucy was really helpful with ideas to make it extra special. They also make amazing sandwiches. We have to go back to have breakfast as a family!

Recently tried this cafe despite being a local. Lots of competition but coffee was amazing and loved seeing all the unique Italian cakes, pastries on offer as that's different to anywhere else. Might just be my new local x

Coffe to die for, food as beautifully presented as it was delicious

Nice place trying to compete with curious cafe. Great selection of premade Panini. We went very late in the day - 15 mins before closing but they still seated and served us. Will defo go back for a timely lunch. Seemed a little expensive when pairing a panini with a drink but very very tasty options but felt worth it. Will go back.

Lovely find. Toasted paninis, all day breakfast bap and a toasted focaccia sandwich. Cute tea pot too. Looking forward to going back.

Popped in for a veggie breakfast which was delicious! Every element was very tasty, although I wasn’t a massive fan of the veggie sausage - still five stars all round!

Lovely little place if you can grab a seat at weekends. Usually pretty busy. Which is a good sign. You certainly get a lot for your money. Big portions. We love this café. Five Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely love Lucy’s! Me and my folks go most Sundays (11am x 3) for Breakfast when I am over visiting for the weekend. The Poached eggs, tomatoes and avocado is simply the best I have ever had, anywhere, ever! Staff are amazing, even when it is busy, and it gets busy for good reason, they could easily fill a football stadium if they had the space because the food and service never fails to deliver outstanding quality, plate after plate, cup after cup, cake after cake! The cakes, Mary Berry could learn a thing or two here! My folks will often call in during the week to get some cakes, I honestly think you would struggle to find better elsewhere! I could not recommend enough and I would take up permanent residency if I could, it’s that good! Thank you Lucy & team, your brilliant!

Lovely, cosy and warm coffee shop! I’ve been on Monday, with my wife, celebrating our anniversary. We had Eggs royal and Full English. Very well constructed and generous portions. Thank you very much Eliza for having a big slice of cake on the house. We will be back! ❤️

Lovely cafe, nice selection of cakes and good coffee

Had an incredibly tasty, thoroughly enjoyable breakfast here. The portion sizes were perfect and you could really taste the quality of the ingredients used. The lady who served us was lovely as well. For the price I think this was by some way the best breakfast I’ve had ;)

Rather expensive in my opinion with a very basic ham and cheese panini at £7.00. Tea good and lemonade ginger cake also

Absolutely fantastic! Lucy’s exterior/interior may be unassuming but this is one of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had (& 100% the best of all the breakfasts I’ve enjoyed whilst walking the Cotswolds way). Very efficient service, staff kind. I loved my scrambled eggs/avocado/smoked salmon on sourdough combo but all my neighbours’ food looked delicious too. Reasonable pricing for the quality /portion sizes. There’s a reason why this place is busy, and it has a nice and intimate feel too. Thanks Lucy’s!

Lovely little cafe, plenty of tasty food option and fresh cakes available. Welcoming, friendly staff. We have visited this place a few times in the last months and love coming back when we are in Cheltenham. Our favourites so far: Traditional full english (very tasty mushrooms, bacon and sausage!), Eggs Benedict, and of course: the cakes!

Many interesting items on the breakfast menu but then this is Cheltenham! Good service. What else is there to say but the Tripadvisor algorithm demands 100 characters!

Great cafe with an amazing selections of mouthwatering Italian cakes and a good range of hot food. However, can somebody explain why an elderly gentleman was refused a panini at 15.08 but 2 young girls got served theirs at 15.28. Obviously the kitchen wasn’t closed. I felt so sorry for him. What’s one to think? Confused.!

Food was nice. Basic breakfast. A bit pricey for an English breakfast .but I suppose its due to rising cost . Staff were very nice. Pleasant atmosphere. Rolls and bequets very pricey as well .

You can't beat this place for fresh home cooked and baked foods. Best to book if you're going for lunch for breakfast in a group as it's so popular

First time visit with my brother and niece. A lovely, friendly welcome. Bustling with a good atmosphere with seating inside and out.Two strong coffees and a hot chocolate to warm us up. I had a full English breakfast, my brother had a sausage and egg bap and my niece had home made pancakes. Everything was freshly prepared and used high quality produce. My breakfast was delicious and the star of the show was the sausage. Wherever they get them, I'd like to know. My brother's bap was also fantastic apparently and we both shared my niece's remaining pancake which was lovely. Make no mistake, this is a high quality place and we will definitely be back. Thank you all.

Only ordered a coffee, but it was stunning nevertheless; great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food did look lovely but I'd had a McDonald's already.

We tried a breakfast in here today. It's nice and cosy and the food was very nice. The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because you only get one rasher of bacon and I got toast instead of fried bread. Mushrooms and sausages nicely done. The toilets are no good for wheelchairs or a rolator, however I would definitely go back.

lovely food and very affordable! I had the eggs royale and my partner had the english breakfast, I thought my breakfast was spot on for the price it was. The drinks were very nice too. Note to the people who manage Lucy's google business profile; change your hero image from the bap and put your other beautiful dishes! We chose not to go to your restaurant because of that, and came as a backup option after our chosen cafe was shut. Now that we know how nice this place is, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely cafe doing excellent breakfast and lunch food, plus good coffee and cakes. We went both mornings of our stay in Cheltenham and weren't disappointed. It's clear why it's such a popular choice on Bath Road. It has an inviting atmosphere and, like a lot of places in the area, is dog and child friendly. It was great to see that meats are locally sourced and that there were even gluten free options on the menu. They've thought of everything here! Truly a 5* cafe.

I visited yesterday for lunch, and because I was very early for a meeting nearby. I liked; the food. I had an Hawaiian jacket potato it was delicious. I saw lots of other food go by and portions looked generous and everything looked fresh. Staff were very friendly. I stayed quite a while - drinking another tea and it made me wish this cafe was near me. A lovely place. I hope to visit again.

Been to Lucy’s a few times over the years and it’s been ok. However after today's visit I won’t be going back. RUDE member of staff from the minute I ordered to the minute I left. Your attitude was awful and maybe you need to find another job. Customer service NIL. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Bath Road so you need to buck up or you’ll lose customers. Byeeeee

Had the eggs royale for lunch and it massively surpassed my expectations. The staff here are very nice and the service was quick. The atmosphere in the cafe was lovely too with quiet jazz and comfy chairs. You can tell a lot of heart has gone into this cafe.

We booked ahead to ensure we could get a table during what we know to be a busy time (Saturday morning). We arrived to no indicated reserved table at 0930. Waited at the counter for 5 mins to ask where our table was. We were ignored by 3 staff who refused to acknowledge us. Eventually we just sat at a vacant place. Placed our order 1 bacon roll with fried egg, 1 bacon roll with a sausage. Food arrived after 30 mins weight. Wrong food initially came. Food was not as ordered but was so annoyed by this time at the inept customer service we ate what was presented and made our exit (payment had already been made at point of ordering) Not the best experience, staff totally disengaged, won’t be making a return visit.

What a little gem this Cafe is in Bath road in Cheltenham. Came across it as we were shopping locally. Lovely food and the coffee and cakes. There is a touch of Italian in recipes and the cakes. The coffee was very good also. I had the octopus and prawn salad and cake and coffee and a bottle of sparkling water. My friend had scrambled eggs on sourdough bread with Avocado and also cake and coffee. All was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent . Nice clean toilets which on any shopping trip is a comfort!. I took a box of ten Italian pastries home and they were very good also. We will be back and that will be soon.
