Very disappointed ordered a prawn curry, this brown wishy washey water came out .I asked if this was a curry. She said it was . I have never seen a dark brown thin water chinese curry before. Disgusting. Alec

Visited Lucky Restaurant on a Sunday evening. Located on Beeston, it is near University of Nottingham. When we arrived, the eatery was a third filled but as we were eating, the restaurant was almost full. The food here taste really authentic, and the quality is confirmed given the number of Asians that frequent this place and the number of regulars that dine in.

Beautiful food had the duck which was amazing, would have liked abit more kick to beef in black pepper but overall service and food good will go again.

The food was excellent but the delivery service was very bad due to the guy not checking if it was paid for

I think I've said it all in the title. Food is great and reasonably priced. Lemon chicken is a must try. Delivery always quick too.

I tried Lucky when my normal Chinese takeaway was closed and was very pleased with what i received. The menu it in both English and Chinese and so you will get some dishes that are not normally seen. we had already decided to go with our normal order and the food was more spicy hotter when delivered and punctual. It was a little more expensive but worth the extra and i will use it again.

The food was delicious! The menu was very extensive so it looks like you can try dishes from lots of different regions if you're feeling adventurous, although there are the usual, more familiar dishes like sweet and sour, black bean, satay etc. Service was great too, very thoughtful and considerate. Both of us ordered vegetarian food so not sure about meat dishes but the portion sizes were huge, and very reasonably priced- for 2 people with starter main and glass of wine each was around £30. Would definitely go again. Only thing to note is they are a cash only restaurant, but there is a free cash point just next door.

So I've eaten here a few times and always enjoyed the food (I'm your basic sweet and sour pork type of person) but the real test was bringing my parents. Dad isn't far off 100 years old and is Chinese so has eaten a fair few meals in his time and he's quite particular about his food so when he gives a 10/10 you know it's serious. He loved the steamed pigs knuckle devouring most of it himself and the king scallops were very tasty. The menu is very varied with authentic Chinese food tasting the way it should taste. Service was friendly. They do get very busy and it is a very small restaurant so just go with the flow - it's sometimes a squeeze getting out after you've finished and you're really full. Even when they are busy you don't feel like you are on a conveyor belt being pushed out the moment you are served. The portion sizes are good. The chefs must be complemented as the food is as good as any London China town restaurant. Thank you for a lovely evening.

So after ordering a chicken szechuan and a beef noodle dish, well you can see what about this is beef? I had one beef strip and pasta disgusting is not the word. Great after waiting 1 and a half hour.

We have ordered home delivery, after 1:45 minutes food arrived my boyfriend beef was alright and my Tom Yum soup which I ask to be just vegetable it came with prawns. Well basically it was water with some tomato and prawns not even cooked just water prawns and tomatoes. For main I have ordered chow man with tofu and vegetables. I got whole packed of noodles cooked with 2 bits broccoli 2 small bits of tofu and no sauce. Plain noodles we 20£ for noodles pack and some water with floating tomato bits and prawns. Please go by by from here as this where world is go wrong!!!

this restaurant is a gem very tasty food authentic chinese food cooked to a high standard freindly staff well worth a visit

Came here again for another visit, great friendly staff, and an extensive menu for such a small restaurant. And again had a really freshly cooked delicious meal with my son, just under £20 a head, and a doggy box for his lunch tomorrow with Singapore rice in it. This places just keeps it simple and it works, another great value meal, will return again! I recommend it to anyone in the area, and the takeaway team seem to be shipping out orders every 5 minutes!

Been using the takeaway service here for years now but never left a review. The food here is wonderful every time without fail and the staff are very friendly. Tonight we had barbecue spare ribs, honey stewed pork and chicken with peppers and black bean sauce along with egg fried rice and sweet and sour sauce. The meat was all perfectly cooked with lovely chunky cut peppers and onions, also perfectly cooked. Had many meals from here over the years and have never been let down and cannot recommend them highly enough. Love this place!

Six people ordered food over the phone. It was TWO hours late! I rang up numerous times and they said it was on the way for half an hour! The boss apparently said we could have £3.90 off as it was 38.90. When delivery man arrived he tried phoning lucky as he was not aware of discount. He had no change so we had to give him £40. This was disgusting. Shall not be recommending this to family and friends. Lost our customer service which is a shame as I always enjoyed the food.

To be recommended... always full of Chinese and locals. Family run, friendly and has a good atmosphere. Has authentic Chinese dishes and 'anglicised' dishes. Extensive menu.

I came upon this place by chance looking for a Chinese takeaway. The menu was more Chinese than most, rhe service extremely polite snd efficient and the food was fresh, delicious and authentic tasting. Staff extremely helpful. I will definitely return. Much recommended.

Very small restaurant that specialises in Cantonese dishes, good selection of dish and pricing is reasonable in terms of quantity. The only negative is the food taste very bland, no flavour or ingredients lacks freshness.

We have had a few delivery's from here always nice and went in to sit down i was not feeling to well so they packed it up with no fuss for me to take home what i was unable to eat

Last night was our first visit here and it definitely won't be our last. An unassuming restaurant but the food was delicious. We had some mixed starters (spring rolls were the best I have had), hot and sour soup and then a few main courses. The beef in black bean sauce melted in the mouth and the chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce was a taste sensation. The best Chinese meal I have had since moving to the Nottingham area 10 years ago.

This is possibly one of the best restaurants of its type I have been in! Why best? Best choice, best quality, best value, best front of house staff. We went again for my 89 year old mother in law's birthday meal. The range they do is staggering - from well presented standard brit-type Chinese food to unusual dishes catering to the large local student population. For example last night I had as a starter, lotus root and pork sandwiches which are actually minced lotus root and seasoned pork mince coated in batter and fried in round flat sandwich shapes and served with a sweet chilli sauce. Delicious! So dear reader, enough food description for now but I recommend you try it at least once and be adventurous. Helen or Irene (?!) are front of house and are fabulous - these are not their real Chinese names, obviously but it adds to the ambiance. It's not a dressy place and is always full of real Chinese people - always a good sign.

We dined here as a table of 9, service was with a smile at all times. They staff were very welcoming, the food was fab and the prices were reasonable.

I have reviewed this place before & obviously when in Beeston we go here food food but last night 16/4/16 we had our last meal here . Dirty tables -people waiting for what seemed like ages for food - when our food came & not all at once i had to ask for our wine that i ordered 30 mins earlier on arrival - i was told the "Boss" had forgot ! - our plates were stone cold - the sizzling beef was awful - the kung po chicken was also very poor & in fact the only part of our meal that was nice was the salt & pepper king prawn starter. We understand that Helen the owner was on holiday but ultimately the responsibility is hers for allowing the place to be so run down,unclean ,badly run & the only emphasis seems to be on take away food & sit down customers come second which is a shame as we used to like going here but never again im afraid! We should have realised when the usually busy restaurant was only a third full if that. This drastic change since my last review is a shame as we did enjoy this place but even the toilets are dirty & the ladies are smelly so after enjoying quite basic but very clean restaurant in the past we will no longer be going here & as with all of my reviews this is an honest opinion of people who eat out regularly . Very good quality food & usually quite busy - it is also used a lot by the Chinese so that is a good sign - we enjoy the food here & the wine is also reasonably priced but my only criticism is they do not give you hot plates to keep your food warm so you need to tuck in which we do !

It is a small cosy place to eat chinese. The atmosphere is not so good, but the taste of the served dishes is beyond your imagination and the prices are really low. My favorite dish is the crispy aromatic duck.

As usual you walk into Lucky Cantonese and get a cheerful greeting. A restaurant with a large majority of young Chinese eating out,what better recommendation do you need. The service is always relaxed and unrushed (do not confuse this with slow service) and nothing is too much trouble. As for the food, we shared mussels,paper wrapped mashed prawn and lettuce wraps followed by the usual stuff for the girls with chicken,prawns etc I had a 3 meat sizzling platter(big lad food) and my mate Paul tried a Hong Kong pot with ribs and aubergine, all with some Singapore vermicelli and special fried rice and washed down with the excellent Tsing Tao beer.I cannot praise this small restaurant enough.The owner Helen thought my mate looked like Bruce Willis(should have gone to spec savers) anyway a great night out was had by all.

Nice food at a reasonable price. A few other diners on a Monday evening but still lacking in atmosphere. Would recommend.

he utilizado Lucky como Llevar en ocasiones y aprovechamos una Groupon ofrecen a comer en el restaurante. El servicio fue muy lento pero el restaurante no estaba lleno. Después de una larga espera los aperitivos, los langostinos tempura y costillas estaban bien. El plato principal llegamos más rápidamente, pero ambas comidas eran peores de lo esperado. El salteado de gambas salteadas con verduras de temporada era básicamente sobre 8 gambas con un montón de repollo y unas pocas zanahorias y champiñones. A £8.50 habría sido muy decepcionado a pagar el precio completo, ya que había era un £4 suplemento para elegir langostinos en la oferta de Groupon, a pesar de que la formulada máximo pasar por plato principal era £8.50 . ¿Cómo funciona? también señaló el camarero limpieza los manteles de papel tras los huéspedes izquierda en vez de cambiarlas.
